New Zealand thumped India in the first ODI by 7 wickets. Can India turn things around in the 2nd game?

NZ to win again. India line up is missing Kohli. Bowling is weak. SKY does not know the art of ODI batting.

New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to field

New Zealand (Playing XI): Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson(c), Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham(w), Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson

India (Playing XI): Shikhar Dhawan(c), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

India’s new philosophy is mad weird in regards to both batting and bowling. Bowling ideology was always a bit wack except under Kohli. Including Umran is a good start.

But batsmanship has become too conservative in LOIs. They’ve been well known to be batsmen who play proper cricket shots and don’t slog, but those cricket shots were used by being positive and looking to score at every chance.

I don’t think it’s a talent issue, it’s a game plan issue.

They need another Dhoni or Ganguly to take the lead.

Looks like another high scoring pitch India have lost even after posting 347 here in 2020. But Dhawan has other ideas! He's on 2 off 8 so far. The sooner he gets out, the better for India posting a decent total.

Don't know what arshdeep and hooda have done to get ODI call ups.
From what I have seen Arshdeep only good for one over even in T20IS. Hooda has been picked as a 6th bowling option but no idea where he will bat! Not a finisher anyway. No need to go with three spinners in these conditions Chahal has been absolutely useless in all formats. Pant should have been rested instead of Samson.

Undeserving players in the playing XI :
Dhawan
Chahal
Hooda
Pant
Arshdeep

2 off spinners? Lol. Indian cricket just doesn't understand the need for complimentary skills in LOIs.

Samson who performed in the 1st ODI was dropped for Hooda but Pant who has been performing poorly lately managed to keep his place yet again. :inti

Rain played spoilsport as the second ODI between New Zealand and India was called off after a lengthy delay. However, the hosts gained crucial Super League points to rise to No.3 on the table.

The match began under gloomy skies and a threat of rain but it stayed away for the toss to happen. Hosts New Zealand opted to bowl first and made one change to their side – Michael Bracewell in place of Adam Milne.

On the other hand, Deepak Chahar came in for Shardul Thakur, while Deepak Hooda replaced Sanju Samson.

India openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill started cautiously before the rain disrupted their innings on 22/0 in the fifth over. A long delay ensued with the rain threatening to overpower at every inspection.

Finally, the play resumed after nearly three and half hours, reduced to 29-overs-a-side. The long break brought Dhawan's downfall as Matt Henry removed him on the second ball after the resumption.

Suryakumar Yadav joined Gill in the middle and together the duo began accelerating with Gill approaching his second half-century of the series.

However, the rain returned again, forcing the players off the field. It refused to relent and the game was finally called off.

The abandonment meant New Zealand and India shared five points each on the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League Standings (powered by MRF Tyres). New Zealand are now third in the standings with 125 points, just below England.

India are at the top and have already qualified for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup on account of being tournament hosts.

New Zealand continue to lead the three-match series 1-0. The third and final ODI will be played in Christchurch on 30 November.
