I remember Strauss and co erasing a 200 deficit in SA without losing a wicket. hardly game over yet

They're 5-25, not 5-150, calm down. England can bat and this pitch is notorious for getting better as the Test goes on, not worse.

Pitch is notorious for getting faster and faster, I'm not sure if that qualifies as better

A 100 run lead is all but assured now, and England will have to do exceptionally well to fightback from there

LOL, when the game was in the balance, you were saying it will need the greatest comeback ever, and now when balance is heavily shifted towards Australia, you're positive again
:P

Lead by 26 with 5 wickets in hand

Need a wicket now do the pommies

because I've seen enough now to suggest that Australia are hardly a better team than England. their batsmen have just applied themselves better. we will have better days

Theres no shame in England's first innings score. It took something very, very special to bring it down. Otherwise I think it could've been 300ish. The game is very much alive but so far England in the field look very nervous, hopefully the jitters are gone by the time they bat!

ONE guy has applied himself better, that's the only difference right now.

Ian Healy suggesting Haddin is strugling with his elbow

swann has been a big dissapointment. i was not expecting such an avg performance from him.

:four

short and easily pulled away by Haddin.

Broad is toothless.

must be the most patient Haddin innings we've seen.

Virtually middling everything now after a shaky (understatement) start

7 off the over

Lead by 33 with 5 wickets still in hand

England are hurting

so is the pitch quickening up, slowing down, flattening out, crumbling? does anybody actually know...

he hasn't been poor, Hussey has just been that damn good against him.

:four

short and pulled away by Hussey.

So Hussey basically owes his career to two Pakistanis.

His career now basically goes:

- Play crap
- Career saving ton
- Play crap for two further series
- Career saving ton
- Back to being crap

Rinse and repeat

this is Swann's poorest game in 16 months. sad to see

Hussey has played a huge role in neutralizing Swann

Yes it does....slow wickets are much harder to bat on. :amin

:warne : Swann has bowled more short balls this innings than he has in 12 months

Hussey is using his feet, both getting down the wicket and rocking back to absolute perfection, has been a delight to watch

:warne : Swann has bowled more short balls this innings than he has in 12 months

i think it might have to do with the kookabora ball. I think he is struggling to grip the ball as he does with the duke ball which is what makes it easy for him to get ridiculous amount of revs on the ball

it is actually turning too. but he is missing his mojo. can't put my finger on what's going wrong

As I said earlier, you have to remember his unlucky decisions over the last 18 months, it's starting to even up starting with that lbw not given.

Great to listen to Warne commentate on spin.

Hes also saying, apart from bowling short, Swann has bowled to straight and he needs to throw it out a bit more.

Also saying sweeper should be brought up and single prevented

:warne

it's definetly the change in ball. he is not able to grip the ball as he is used to and is finding himself slipping the ball faster and dropping it short. I'll still back him to do well in the remaining games though. Surely what i saw this summer was not a one-off?

PC into the attack

Paul Collingwood - Pie Chucker

Whatever floats your boa

Half chance

Mis-hit carried a long way, I thought it went straight up in the air

Commentators feeling catch should have been taken

Being harsh really

down the wicket and smacked over mid wicket

Australia dominating now

lead by 45

and is that worse than what Finn is doing?
he's beating the batsman at any rate.

yes, because its never going to get him a wicket.

even Colly is looking dangerous, just because he's consistently pitching it up.

Thats poor bowling from Swann

darted into the pads with long on and mid wicket back

All commentators feeling Swann should bowl wider and slower and fuller

yes, because its never going to get him a wicket.

Broad has been looking like taking a wicket he has been beating Haddin
Or maybe he's just looking good in comparison to Finn

i think Swann has been wrongly influenced by Ajmal performance from this summer. It's almost like he has forgotten how to flight and dip the ball and just wants to bowl flat

oh come on, Swann isn't going to be influenced by such an inferior bowler who he completely outshone. he is having a bad day for other reasons

LOL, no Swann has not bene influenced by Ajmal

Hes just confused because of the way Hussey handled him

field is spread far and wide, does he (strauss) even want a wicket ?
