'Dont quote me live'-what does that mean anyway?![]()
Najam Sethi is standing right next to him how can PCB distant itself from butt? So Sethi invited him to discuss the big 3 issue, does a joint press conference with him and then distances PCB from butt? Oh God please remove Sethi.
Its not Sethi's fault that Butt is an idiot.
As an Indian fan, I'd totally isolate what Butt saa'b is saying from all of Pakistan/ Pakistani cricket fans. If we were to start blaming a whole people on what some (ex) reps say, there will be no end to the recriminations.
Two, let the sensible Pakistanis deal with it by themselves. Plenty of responses here that speak to their embarrassment. Any implied racism, xenophobia is their issue to handle.
Three, Butt saa'b has insulted the boards....not India, England and Australia. There is a huge difference, so no need to feel insulted.
Fourth, Butt saa'b you are a 'lajand'.As someone else said earlier, I would pay to see this man as head of BCCI. Can we elect him already?
Fifth, a pig is a living thing, why is calling someone a pig an insult? Given how brutal man is, the worst insult is to call someone a 'violent man'
Sixth, if relations between India and Pakistan were better, I'd be on the first plane tomorrow from Delhi to stand outside Butt saa'b house and say to him in my deepest, 'gravellest,' tones:
Oink.
I don't like BCCI, but such foul language should not be tolerated. BCCI should not have any ties whatsoever with such foul mouths. He is a former chairman, and current chairman is standing next to him laughing.
.......................
As for saying that "calling someone pig" is not an insult as opposed to "calling someone violent", cmon we are not kindergarden kids here..
That kind of preachy crap does not belong here.
Srinivasan dissaproves this comment.
How to Win Friends and Influence People - Ijaz Butt style.

Constructive criticism...ever heard of that term?
In a professional system (lets for a moment assume PCB is one) when you dislike someone you make constructive criticism, not call them 'Son of Pigs'.![]()
Not sure if I entirely agree with you. He was standing with PCB chairman while making this comment and Sethi was smiling.yup heard of it.
you ever heard of the word "fact" . If yes then get yours straight. Ijaz butt is not a part of pcb.

its funny how everybody who talks trash about bcci is a retard
are you for real? Sethi couldnt have shoved anything in his mouth while he was saying it. As far as the question of smiling goes, you gotta admit what ijaz said was pathetic but hilarious at the same time as well.) everyone condemned it but it is funny as long as its being said to somebody else.
It is funny for teenagers, internet forums and media person. It is extremely unprofessional for a board member to sit there and smile. But then most of PCB's work is done through media, so no surprises there
Its not Sethi's fault that Butt is an idiot.
Sethi invited the most controversial figure for assistance on such an important matter, did a joint press conference and you think it's not Sethi's fault? Riight! Taking advice from Butt itself is a crime.
He was only trying to be nice, polite and courteous.

If you translate into the crude Punjabi words, it comes out bad, but what he meant in real words, all three of them are " bad boys".
Remember, in Punjabi, even a respectful word come across as a swear, but Butt is a loose cannon and most people know about him.
Actually it is the media's fault. Butt requested them not to quote him and not to post what he said but they still did. Very shameful

yes i agree with u. sethi shouldnt have smiled. What a big crime he did by smiling. He knew exactly what was going to come out of ijaz' mouth and he should have taken prior action. Even after ijaz said it , sethi shouldnt have smiled. He should have cried and Slapped ijaz because ijaz represents PCB and shouldnt have said that.
He should have behaved professionally, immeaditely chastised ijaz and said PCB does not endorse such behavior. Once again all your talk of slapping etc are how school boys talk and not professionals. Maybe you are not used to professional behavior from your board members but next time PCB is publicaly scolded by other teams just remember that
Indians taking the moral high ground!)
Professional behaviour? Which ethics book states that it is professional to replace a democratic system with a dictatorship? Which ethics book states that the most well off should abuse their power to become richer and more powerful at the expense of the poor? Please, criticise Butt all you want, but to come on a Pakistani forum and lecture everyone on how cricket boards should act professionally, borders on complete stupidity.
Its his personal opinion and he is not an official now. nothing to be embarrassed about
Most of us have the same views don't we?

working and 3 of them make 10 times the money others do, they should just distribute the money among the 7 others? This was the whole point behind the big 3 proposal
No this wasnt the whole point
It's been suggested by the ECB and CA that this proposal came about "to keep BCCI in a tent", and they have said it on record that there was a danger that India wouldn't have signed the MPA [Members Participating Agreement].
There were a lot of issues we had on the MPA, genuine issues. I would not have signed the last MPA, but whoever signed it, I don't know how it got signed. There are a lot of disadvantages.
Going back to the earlier question: the view is that we did it to keep India in the tent and we didn't want India outside, throwing stones. How would you respond to that?
I have already said that now we can have an ICC that India can be fully involved with.
ok i am a school kid and you are a professional.![]()
But ijaz butt is not a kidwho needs to be told what to say everytime. He always says nonsense like this and probably sethi too knew it and hence thought it was futile to try and make butt understand. probably sethi thought butt would insult him too in front of camera if he tried to rebuke him thats how pathetic butt is.
I personally think sethi did well by not creating a scene in front of camera for the entertainment of people. For your information PCB did later come out with a statement to distance itself from what butt said. This is how you behave professionally , not by lecturing a grown up man on moral science on live t.v.
Indiafan as usual throwing a hesy fit and making this a India vs Pakistan issue. Ijaz Butt is a baffoon end of, no need to get your knickers twisted.
You know he is a buffoon. For others he was representing your board for a while. And then we see the new PCB head sitting and grinning while Ijaz abuses others. Not everyone will be in the know or be as forgiving. And you know this is true from the statements made by other boards about PCB. This can/will have long term repercussions.
How is this an India Pakistan issue unless you think PCB = Pakistan?
Maybe you are right about Sethi not wanting to create a scene in front of the camera. But do remember that when Ijaz made the previous goof ups (leaking news to the media, then backtracking and apologizing, then looking for sympathy in public), he was still representing PCB. Now when you see him abusing other boards and the new PCB head sitting there grinning, what impression does it create? Ideally Sethi should have avoided going to that debate with Mr Butt.
PCB needs to get it's act right to win back some goodwill from the cricket community. Some people think that PCB has nothing to lose currently. But such kind of behaviors will drive away even those who are sympathetic to them. Will SLC, SA, etc want to deal with PCB if this continues? Will they ever be comfortable sharing any sensitive information or debating the big 3 in front of PCB trusting them not to blabber to the press?
There is no doubt that PCB was very much at a disadvantage right from the beginning of the affair. But their whole taking the moral stand position has been undermined by some really juvenile behavior from Mr Butt. Even the sympathy they gained from other countries from taking the right stand has been undermined by this kind of behavior and they have lost some support from neutral countries.
Not sure if being sarcastic. He was live on TV. Everyone could see/hear it. What do you think would happen.
Also, I guess the full effect of the words aren't appreciated by the English/Aussie posters here. Its a bit of an insult in Pakistan (Pigs are considered dirty, and their meat is haraam).
Hold a press conference and ask to filter out what they report? Lol, not happening. Butt is a butt.
Sorry, could you explain what was idiotic about my comment without making a blanket statement or sucking up to others on a forum?

Oh dear![]()
Your comments by themselves weren't idiotic. I agree with that. That's why I made a post in the first place.
Sorry maybe "idiotic" is harsh and I apologize.
Wrote it quickly and didn't check it.

Pak fans not used to professional behaviour?
You ain't just attacking PCB.
You are mounting an indirect attack on its fans.
When every single Pak fan has condemned this nonsense, why do you have to make statements wherein you imply they support this and they shouldn't cry when someone points out their flaws.
PCB was stupid.
Everyone agrees.
Why this subtle but indirect attack on its fans?
That's what I was against.
Sorry can't stop myself from bumping this old thread when i found it while searching something elseIjaz Butt and his statements

Will NEVER forget the "I heard talk in bookie circles" comment. Ijaz Butt was a walking PR disaster.
The Geo interview where he boasted of abusing Lalit Modi on the phone with 'mazaydaar gaaliya' - http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?131734-Ijaz-Butt-on-Geo-tonight-Exclusive-Interview
The random show cause notices and "life bans" that were handed out only for Ijaz Butt to do one of his MANY famous U-turns.
Infact things got SO bad at one point after the spot fixing episode that there were protesters inside Lahore Airport chanting "PCB Murdabad" during an Ijaz Butt press conference !
