The dilemma facing Pakistan fans - Would you go to watch the Bangladesh match in WC2019?

Pakistan are all but out of the World Cup. If you were a Pakistan fan, and had a chance to get tickets for this game, would you sell them, knowing it's a dead rubber, or would you still go anyway?

I got tickets before in the hope that the game would be meaningful in terms of getting to the semis, but even now I still am excited to go as it's an opportunity to end our tournament on a high with 4 wins on the bounce, and to hopefully watch some quality cricket. Add to that of course revenge for the Asia Cup, and I don't think this match is a dead rubber at all.

I’ll start my drive almost at the same time of 1st ball & it’s a 12 hours drive to Boston - but I’ll defiantly keep track on the scores.

There is no dead rubber in WC (unless you are a snob & liar), and this game will determine positions from 5th to 8th. And, the participants are too close in icc ranking table - it’ll be a double cutter for the losers.

This is the last match to watch in a very long time in a decent ground so this is something to savor.

The pessimism dispensers can continue spewing their pessimism on this forum and in mainstream media but it has been a fun ride. The absolutely detestable ex-cricketers who just want to stirr controversy so their content sells can keep doing what they do. Someone needs to stand up and tell them that the team doesn't play fearless cricket for two reasons, one, they aren't that highly talented as some of their predecessors, two, the fear of media lynching that happens to erode whatever confidence that is left within the players.

Hope the boys give their best shot and it's a good spectacle to watch.

Honestly speaking, I agree with the fans in here, and if I had tickets for this originally, I definitely wouldn't sell them. Part of me still wants to go. The problem for me is just money, as a student, I'm not loaded, I've already been to two great games, I have other outgoing costs, and I don't want to go through so much hassle for a dead rubber, even though I'm still interested in this game. I'll definitely watch it on TV and I would still love us to beat Bangladesh after the amount of times they have smashed us recently, but I'm not sure it's worth getting up early, travellling all the way there, getting back and just wasting a whole day for a dead rubber. It would be around 80 quid in total and I haven't got much money coming in atm.

I have a problem with the thread title here. A fan doesn’t support a team whilst in remains in contention to win a tournament. They should provide support through all of the highs and lows. It’s an experience for the fans and players to travel the journey. Admittedly this campaign has been disheartening but there have also been some positives which we must run with if we want to see a better future.

I don’t have tickets for this game as I have no annual leave left, but ai would definitely be there otherwise. It will be a cracking contest hopefully, no clear favourites going into it and Lords is a fantastic venue.

It's all well and good saying stuff like this - I agree myself but point is these tickets aren't free. I still am contemplating going but I think it's not the smartest thing to spend 60 quid on the ticket then extra money on transport when I'm not exactly loaded. There's a fine line between enjoying life and just being irresponsible. I was always going to the Pakistan NZ game, I ended up getting tickets for Pak v SA too (95 quid) and both those games were great, but I have a lot of money going out atm, and very little coming in, so perhaps it would be wiser to save money and just watch this dead rubber at home, although I still think it should be a great match.

My point is that just because you don't gain a semis spot doesn't make a match totally unimportant. It is still a cricket match where the dynamics don't change. Every sports team plays for pride. If pride is insignificant to you then that is your problem.

A Pakistan World Cup match at the home of cricket with a rowdy yet friendly crowd, couldn't ask for much more.
