Pakistan are all but out of the World Cup. If you were a Pakistan fan, and had a chance to get tickets for this game, would you sell them, knowing it's a dead rubber, or would you still go anyway?

Im not even going to watch it on T.V, just follow the scores.

How can anyone get excited when the match has no meaning?

The rest of the week if full dead rubber matches. The world cup has died and will be reborn at the semis now.

I'm in English visiting from Canada, in London right now. It's my first time ever in England my chance to watch a world cup game so YES I'm going!

PS: England isn't bad but damn, it looks way older and less polished than Canada.

I can't believe it's a question. Dead rubber or not, it's a Friday afternoon out at the Home of Cricket and a World Cup match to boot against another Asian team. I'd love to have been there.

Well the match is against Bangladesh and the boys would like to end on a high note.

What better way to give a farewell to Shoaib Malik and Hafeez :yk

What do you mean by dead rubber?

There is so much at stake here than you think. Pakistan have an opportunity to end on a high, be ranked 5th and also have bragging rights.

A dead rubber in a world cup is more important than a final in a tri nation tournament. The world is still watching. The world cup should not be something discontinuous, one winner and 9 losers. It's more continuous than that

It's the battle for the 2nd Best team in Asia.

I got tickets before in the hope that the game would be meaningful in terms of getting to the semis, but even now I still am excited to go as it's an opportunity to end our tournament on a high with 4 wins on the bounce, and to hopefully watch some quality cricket. Add to that of course revenge for the Asia Cup, and I don't think this match is a dead rubber at all.

I will be going there to support the team. Hopefully we get a really good game with pakistan winning! :D

I’ll start my drive almost at the same time of 1st ball & it’s a 12 hours drive to Boston - but I’ll defiantly keep track on the scores.

There is no dead rubber in WC (unless you are a snob & liar), and this game will determine positions from 5th to 8th. And, the participants are too close in icc ranking table - it’ll be a double cutter for the losers.

May the better team wins on the day.

Nobody remembers who finishes 5th or will brag about this.

I can understand from a Bangladesh pov beating Pakistan is another feather in the cap but for Pakistan there is little motivation to win. I guess Pakistan will go very very hard(if batting first) just to see what happens but when a couple of wickets fall, the match will end up as an exhibition.

I was offered tickets but declined.

I would go to watch any match of Pakistan's, if I had the opportunity to do so. Even more so with a World Cup game.

Good luck and enjoy.

Another problem for me is money. It's £60 tickets approx and transport would be about 10-20. Not sure

Absolutely.
Why not.I would never give up the oppurtunity of watching Pakistan playing live and that too a worldcup match.

I am in America, but will still of course watch the match. Since Pakistan is already out, I think they should rest Wahab due to his finger injury and play Hasnain. Try him out, nothing to lose.

We are playing for the title of best of the rest.
Every game counts when you play for your country.
I would request that all Pak fans go, these players rarely get to play at home, and I would like them to be supported like they were at lord's and edgbaston

Paid more than double the face value for tickets as was hoping that both teams would still be in the running for the semis and that the match would be a virtual quarter final.

But will still be going as I didn't go to to any of the earlier matches due to an exam and this will be my first World Cup match ever. Also Lord's is always a good time.

If the last game was against Afghans and we are on 16 points or 0 points - I’ll still watch the game, if time & scopes are there. And, it’s not for the WC, even for a bilateral with series standing at 4-0 or 0-4.

You never know, Pakistan might surprise us.

Score 500, and viola! Rest is history (might be dreaming, but hey, dream big or go home)...I mean there is a VERY VERY small chance of this happening, but there is still a chance, thus you should go.

Well if ever in history there was something on the line to score 500, it was this Friday.

I will be super excited it Pakistan bats first. Will be fun to watch even if we somehow score 450..not impossible...

I plan to get up at 2:30am and watch the game. Hoping for a good finish to this impressive and memorable fightback from Pakistan.

It is impossible. Wake up please.

Been to 4 matches this world cup...
(brag brag).
Was really kicking myself having not got the tckt for Bangladesh game, now Im glad i didnt.
Doesnt matter who wins, meaningless match.

Tomorrow, taking a day off, getting some healthy snacks in, and sitting in front of the computer watching the match while working on the side.

This is the last match to watch in a very long time in a decent ground so this is something to savor.

The pessimism dispensers can continue spewing their pessimism on this forum and in mainstream media but it has been a fun ride. The absolutely detestable ex-cricketers who just want to stirr controversy so their content sells can keep doing what they do. Someone needs to stand up and tell them that the team doesn't play fearless cricket for two reasons, one, they aren't that highly talented as some of their predecessors, two, the fear of media lynching that happens to erode whatever confidence that is left within the players.

Hope the boys give their best shot and it's a good spectacle to watch.

Honestly speaking, I agree with the fans in here, and if I had tickets for this originally, I definitely wouldn't sell them. Part of me still wants to go. The problem for me is just money, as a student, I'm not loaded, I've already been to two great games, I have other outgoing costs, and I don't want to go through so much hassle for a dead rubber, even though I'm still interested in this game. I'll definitely watch it on TV and I would still love us to beat Bangladesh after the amount of times they have smashed us recently, but I'm not sure it's worth getting up early, travellling all the way there, getting back and just wasting a whole day for a dead rubber. It would be around 80 quid in total and I haven't got much money coming in atm.

I have a problem with the thread title here. A fan doesn’t support a team whilst in remains in contention to win a tournament. They should provide support through all of the highs and lows. It’s an experience for the fans and players to travel the journey. Admittedly this campaign has been disheartening but there have also been some positives which we must run with if we want to see a better future.

I don’t have tickets for this game as I have no annual leave left, but ai would definitely be there otherwise. It will be a cracking contest hopefully, no clear favourites going into it and Lords is a fantastic venue.

Well to me it's the biggest game left in the world cup as pakistan are playing. I genuinely care more about this than the semi final and finals.

So just because it is a dead rubber means there is no context here?

When you put on that jersey, you may not be playing for the World Cup but you are most certainly playing for the fans and pride. Do you not often watch a meaningless bilaterals? I am sure you do. This match has more context than a meaningless bilateral.

I would not look into the results of the match too much. I don't think either teams will give their 100% but it is still a match of somewhat importance.

It's all well and good saying stuff like this - I agree myself but point is these tickets aren't free. I still am contemplating going but I think it's not the smartest thing to spend 60 quid on the ticket then extra money on transport when I'm not exactly loaded. There's a fine line between enjoying life and just being irresponsible. I was always going to the Pakistan NZ game, I ended up getting tickets for Pak v SA too (95 quid) and both those games were great, but I have a lot of money going out atm, and very little coming in, so perhaps it would be wiser to save money and just watch this dead rubber at home, although I still think it should be a great match.

That's the way to go bro and still it's not a Final verdict....hope for the best STARS ALWAYS KEEP SHINING So it's yet over till it get over

Absolutely the way to go.

This rona dhona can be kept for later - go out there, enjoy and support your side.

There is no importance to this match. The run rate required is far too much. Sure it's still possible but if Pakistan were to win this match with the required rate it would be there as one of the great sporting comebacks of all time and certainly the best peformance by a cricket team. This is how difficult the task is.

Yes I watch bilateral series if the series is still on the line or we have a new team which is developing. They have more context because winning a series gives you silverware but winning this match gives you nothing expect a fight ticket out of the country.

No offence, if Pak were playing India last then I'd watch it due to the historical rivalry but beating Bangladesh isnt something to jump up about.

I will follow the scores and if by some miracle we score 100 off the first 10, I will turn on the TV. :inzi2

Silverware everything? So silverware for Pakistan when they got to the QF of last WC but got knocked out?

Context or not, every match matters. You are playing for your country. You are playing for bragging rights. You are playing in the grandest of world stages and here even a dead rubber is more significant than JAMODIs

Bragging rights against Bangladesh? lol. After not making the semis only a desperate fan would brag about beating Bangladesh.

Yes watching the QF because silverware was still on the line. It means everything, nobody remembers who finished 5th in the 92 world cup, what stage it is and the rest mean nothing.

Also there is a good chance of a Bangladeshi victory as it's very much on for Pakistan to get shot out for a low score if they go all out attacking.

Are you going to brag if Bangladesh beat Pakistan when the Pak team is going for over 500 runs and risked it all? If you do this is minnow mentality and I can then understand why you feel this match is so important.

Really disappointed with the way this has gone for Pakistan however have been a bit lucky as have a few foc tickets arranged by my company.

It will be an interesting day for both teams and I expect it to be a full house nevertheless. Two Muslim nations playing for pride on a Friday at Lords what's not to like.

Dude nothing to do with minnow mentality.

My point is that just because you don't gain a semis spot doesn't make a match totally unimportant. It is still a cricket match where the dynamics don't change. Every sports team plays for pride. If pride is insignificant to you then that is your problem.

Honestly, there is no real desire for me to see BD win but i would really love to see BD win. I would love to see BD win every match they play.

Cmon Pakistan and Bangladesh fans - bring out your flags, put up the face paint and lets support our teams!

Spent all day yesterday considering, decided against it. It looks fun to be there which of course it would but in life you have to make sacrificies. It's just too irresponsible when you're broke and haven't got a proper job to waste a lot of money on a dead rubber although part of me does wish I was there

Was absolutely a fantastic game, certainly worth it. The thing that made it great was the crowd, the atmosphere was really loud and energetic, even for a supposedly dead rubber game, it was absolutely amazing! As Shaheen was steaming in to claim a 5-for amid "Afridi, Afridi" chants, or the crowd slowly getting louder as Imad hit boundary after boundary, it was truly incredible. A Pakistan World Cup match at the home of cricket with a rowdy yet friendly crowd, couldn't ask for much more.

Brilliant stuff, an upbeat end for Pakistan fans
