Geordie Ahmed said:he hasnt mentioned anything about it BUT id be surprised if he got rid of them - the reserves are so important to help develop your younger players and im sure the Chairman would not allow KK to get rid of it. That was arguably the stupidest thing KK did as our manager, a mind boggling decision tho im sure he must have had some reason for it

You'll be familiar with Kevin Keegan's charge sheet as it is being repeatedly read above a backing track of cackling laughter to certify why both he and the people of Newcastle are clinically insane.
He's a bottler who talks in riddles, hasn't watched a live game for three years, is committing the cardinal sin of returning to an old club, and his only qualification is he used to be a local hero in an era when men permed their heads and soaked their armpits in Brut.
The gags and the accusations of madness were to be expected, yet I've been taken aback by the ferocity of the cynicism from people who frequently lament how clubs are selling their soul to corporate monsters. A ferocity summed up by the esteemed writer who accused the Geordies of harbouring "empty and increasingly pathetic dreams."
So what's pathetic about wanting to see your team play in a passionate, entertaining way, led by a manager you love, trust and believe in? That's what drew me to football in the first place. That's what it used to be all about.
Ah, they say, but football has changed dramatically in the 11 years Keegan has been away, as though he's a Japanese sniper emerging into sunlight after 63 years in the Burmese jungle. He's only 56 for Christ's sake, and been a genuine football man at the highest level for most of those years.
Does the fact that the Premier League has changed mean Keegan has suddenly become a bad judge of a player or lost his ability to motivate them?
Granted, the mind-boggling amounts of cash swilling around football has transformed the game, but certainly not for the better. Has Roman Abramovich's billions enhanced it? Has the American pincer movement on Anfield and Old Trafford improved it? No. Ask Kopites how they feel about their so-called saviours from across the pond now, or the thousands of Man United fans frozen out of Old Trafford because their wallets aren't thick enough.
Those who love the game should save their anger and cynicism for our friends in the north who ushered the Americans into Anfield and Old Trafford, instead of turning it on Mike Ashley for inviting Keegan back.
Who says ill-advised romantic gestures are worse for a club than the ill-advised sale of a club's soul to foreign businessmen who have no knowledge of football or love for the fans?
What's wrong with an owner attempting to give his supporters what they want?
Keegan's return may be an unmitigated disaster but who cares? Certainly not the only people who matter, the Newcastle fans. What right have outsiders to tell them they'd have been better off watching Sam Allardyce's brand of eye-bleedingly bad football fail?
Critics say he won't win them the Premier League so what's the point? But he doesn't need to. All he has to do is repeat what he did last time around by taking them back up to the division they belong in.
They're now in the top flight's third division with West Ham. If he gets them into the second with Aston Villa, playing exciting football, he'll be deemed a success. Into the first with Arsenal and his body will be interred in Newcastle Cathedral.
I wish him luck. Not because I was once a big Keegan fan but because I'm still a football fan.
One of many who can see that if our game is to survive as a sport for the masses, clubs need to bring in more men like him, whose sole intention is to make the people happy, and less foreign sharks whose only intention is to make the people emotionally and financially skint.

Kevin Keegan hopes Newcastle United can strike 'lucky' and bring Thierry Henry back to the Premier League.
Henry left Arsenal for Barcelona last summer, but has yet to recapture the form which saw him become the English game's finest player.
And Keegan, who was no stranger to major signings during his first spell as Newcastle boss, would relish the opportunity to sign the French striker.
"I would like to fetch Thierry Henry back to England," Keegan told Radio Newcastle. "He's the best player I've seen in the Premiership.
"When you're pitch-side, what I've seen him do to good players has been incredible.
"Sometimes you can take advantage of a situation and get what I call lucky."
During his previous tenure, Keegan spent a then world record fee of £15million on Alan Shearer and he would have no qualms in setting a new landmark.
He added: "I'd like to do what we did last time and surprise people. It would be nice to break a world record.
"Why rule it out? I'd like to bring players here that amaze people and we stop just talking about being a big club - but, with our actions, we show that we are.
"Sometimes people limit themselves by saying, 'we can't do that'. You say 'why not?' and they don't give you an answer.
"If we can get this club going in the right direction we have the owner who will find us the money for these players. You start by building up trust with the people who provide the finance that you can find these players at the right price. It's easy to get players to a club once it's flying in the right direction."
Keegan also suggested circumstances are different at St James' Park compared to 11 years ago when he quit as manager.
"I was here five years, but the club was being floated, people were being discarded," he continued. "I worked to build the club up, but at the time loads of promises were not kept, and priorities changed, so I got out."

More rubbish as usual from the Media BUT the mongs out there really lap it up.
This quote was taken out of context from his phone in on the BBC with Mick Lowes. KK was actually asked by a caller "if you could sign any one player in the world?" and KK mentioned Henry - doesnt mean he is going to go for him

Toon fans can aim their golf balls at a Ronaldo cut-out
Newcastle United fans have been given the chance to vent their frustration by hitting golf balls at Manchester United players before the two clubs meet.
A golf course on Tyneside has placed life-sized cut-outs of six United players in its driving range.
The stars in the firing line include, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Edwin Van der Sar.
The idea came from Parklands Golf Course in Gosforth, ahead of the league meeting on 23 February.
'Light-hearted'
The dummies have been placed at 100m, 150m and 200m intervals on the range.
David King, Parklands manager, said: "The return of Kevin Keegan has reminded Newcastle fans - as if any reminder were needed - of how Manchester United pipped us for the Premiership title in 1996.
"Putting the dummies up on the driving range is a light-hearted way of letting Newcastle supporters release some tension in the days running up to the match."
The dummies will be kept after the game and will be re-used to display other teams' players.
"They will be no doubt be pressed into action again when feelings are running particularly high," added Mr King.

TAK said:geordie, are you still sponsored by the Northern Rock?
if so, bit of a strange situation now, a club being sponsored by the government
Newcastle want urgent talks with their shirt sponsors, Northern Rock, following the Government's decision to nationalise the bank this week.
The beleagured bank signed a five-year deal with Newcastle in 2005 worth £25 million and although most of that money was paid up front - and spent by former chairman Freddy Shepherd on the £16m signing of Michael Owen - the club are anxious to know whether the contract will now be cancelled.
Northern Rock's new executive chairman Ron Sandler announced a review of the bank's business plan on Monday. But with the company now in public ownership questions are certain to be asked over whether it is appropriate to continue with the sponsorship programme, which also includes Newcastle Falcons rugby team and Durham County Cricket Club.
A spokesman for the Treasury made it clear yesterday that while the UK taxpayer was now effectively the bank's only shareholder, the business would continue to be run at an arm's length from the Government, so any sponsorship is the responsibility of the bank's directors.
Northern Rock insisted yesterday that they were not about to rip up the deals, which all run until 2010. A spokesman said: "We are honouring our obligations and the contracts are in place."
For Newcastle Falcons, the need to hold talks with the bank will be even more crucial. They sold their Kingston Park home to them for £15m in 2006 and now lease it back from the bank on a 10-year deal.
Amir said:So now we can say that barcoded shirt belongs to all the british taxpayers?
Geordie, big game this Saturday against Boro (if I am correct?). You think Keegan has enough to get his first victory (and against I guess what would be geographical rivals).
Geordie Ahmed said:you can BUT it would be false
Actually we are playing you lot on Saturday at St James. Im certainly not looking forward to it since i expect nothing less than a hammering, we really are struggling at the moment and the last thing we need is tough fixtures like this.
Amir said:Wow you are absolutely correct and I knew that. I am surprised I even forgot. That is what alot of studying at 1 am in the morning does to you! (I was browsing pics and one of the stupid headline goes "Keegan grins before Newcastles clash with middlesborough")
What the hell were they talking about!!! What we need is an easy fixture like this. Only one point from the past 2 games...we need an easy 3...hopefully you guys won't make it too hard for us.

It's now been confirmed that Chris Hughton has joined the SJP coaching staff, with Kevin Keegan making it clear what his immediate role will be:
“Defensively, we need some work on shape and I think Steve (Round) and him will be a really good force together on the training pitch.
“That’s where we’ve got to work on things to get it right here.
“He’s good with players and good around players. He’s got a good way with them. He’s an experienced player himself, so they know when he’s saying it, he’s been there and done it himself.”
Hughton was assistant to Martin Jol at White Hart Lane until last October and as a player served Spurs between 1977 & 1990.
The 49 year-old Londoner also played and coached at international level for the Republic Of Ireland.
He follows a former Eire team mate into the role of defensive coach, with Keegan briefly employing Mark Lawrenson in a similar role the last time he managed here.
PS - Hughton's son Cian is on the book of Spurs, with the 19 year-old having been capped at U18 level by Ireland and last season seeing him break into the reserve side.

KEVIN KEEGAN is confident that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley will come up with the money to allow him to go on a summer spending spree.
The United manager’s first priority is to keep the club in the Premier League and, with just two victories in their last 18 games meaning only 10 points out of 54 going into the bag, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Keegan is quite rightly insisting that all transfer plans and talk of new contracts for the likes of Steven Taylor go on the back burner until United are safe.
He has set his sights on the 40-point mark, but bearing in mind United have an inferior goal difference to every team in the league apart from Derby County and Reading this may not be enough.
However, Keegan is fully aware he will have to strengthen his squad in the close season, especially as United did not add to their first-team squad in the January transfer window.
And the £9m net Sam Allardyce coughed up for some mediocre signings in the summer means that United have been one of the lowest spenders in the Premier League in the last two windows.
When I asked Keegan if he was confident he would have the funds to bring in new players he replied: “We haven’t really discussed it but I was promised money when I came so it’ll be there.
“I don’t think I need worry about that.
“But the first thing I need to do is get to 40 points and make sure we’re in the Premier League. That’s still there to be done.
“Then I’ve got to go and get the three, four or five players that are hopefully going to turn this place around.
“I’ve got a small squad. There are so few options within this squad.”
The signing of Senegalese defender Lamine Diatta (pictured) has moved a step nearer with news that he's undergoing a medical at SJP.
32 year-old Diatta is a free agent and has been training with the Newcastle squad for the last week.
He made one appearance at the recent African Nations Cup Finals alongside Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye.
However, he was reported to have announced his international retirement after Senegal failed to qualify for the later stages of the event.
The defender began his professional career with Toulouse before moving on to Stade Rennais via a brief spell at Marseille.
2004 saw him join Lyon, where he played alongside Claudio Cacapa, winning two French league titles.
Two years later he made the switch to St.Etienne before a stint in Turkey with Besiktas which ended last year, when he bought himself out his contract.
Diatta would become the fourth Senegalese international to play for us, after the afore-mentioned Faye and Beye and old boy Amdy Faye.
Were he to be included in the squad for Saturday and make his debut, he'd come up against Liverpool for the third time this season.
October 2007 saw him appear as a late substitute for Besiktas as they beat the Reds 2-1 in Turkey, taking his place in the starting XI for the return game at Anfield - which ended 8-0 to Liverpool.....
