Is Nobby staying then?

I thought Luque was going to be given yet another chance?

it seems that way, nobody has came in for him PLUS i think with the injuries to the right backs he is needed

Luque leaving is the best thing really - we can get him off our wage bill PLUS there is no role for him at the club so its pointless keeping him

i wouldn't call it intended racism... although it probably looks like it..

mido chants have been going around from opposition fans since west ham fans invented it... since is likeness to richard reid

its just newcastle fans have been picked out cos they were lot more chanting it ...

probably just distasteful banter....its was defn wrong though to do.

Habib Beye - Marseille's Captain is set to join Newcastle in the next 24hrs according to their president/chairman.

Another Shrewd buy.

The media just loves targeting us, hate the southern press - their heads are so far up their own behinds.

The comments have clearly been taken out of context, its simply cos he looks like Richard Reid that those comments were made. Many muslim players have played against us and nowt has been said to them about bombs BUT the press conveniently ignore that.

This would be a quality signing - hopefully it wont suffer any complications. Our defence should be solid once this is sorted, finally some balance.

Beye - Taylor - Rozehnal - Enrique

I certainly like the look of that. Lets hope Enrique can settle in the prem quickly and plays to his potential

The Times

The 24-year-old Egyptian was targeted by Newcastle United supporters with songs referring to his Muslim religion during Sunday’s 2-2 Barclays Premier League draw at the Riverside Stadium.

what rubbish

Daft newcastle fans, every one of them should be banned going to any more games. They give football a bad name.
It doesnt matter if any other team do it, the fans got caught and it doesnt make it right just because others do it. Also whether it was intended or just ignorance doesnt justify anything.
I just dont hope the club doesnt get fined because of some daft fan.

That is absolute rubbish.. I was at Newcastles game away at Ewood and the chant town full of pakis was roaring prematch and it was not a minority I can assure you.. There is no excuse for racism and the press as you say conveniently ignoring it is rubbish.. The bomber chant started at West Ham and its been adopted by Newcastle fans as well it seems.. The reason many muslims have not been targetted is because many who play in the premiership like van persie toure sissoko etc do not look Arab..

The media does not care about Newcastle.. Theyre last decades story and will be so till they start improving.. Sorry if it appears harsh but tolerating racism is as bad as being its perpetrator...

2 good signings from us - sorts our defence out.

We signed 9 players this summer and let 11 leave - we havnt spent too much money BUT have spent wisely and still managed to improve the squad.

We have a net spend of around £10million which is excellent :14: :14:

An important 3 points for us today - unfortunately we didnt score more goals BUT im happy with the 3 points which is the main thing. We have kept another clean sheet and we remain unbeaten tho we hav had decent fixtures thus far

Well chuffed that Owen scored, he had a few chances BUT slowly that match sharpness will return.

Watched bit of the match and for 80% of the match it seemed like we camped in their half and for some decent defending and some loose finishing..the score would of been larger!

didnt even bother watching newcastle was at tarawih prayers for most of it..

but what i did read...we are lacking midfield creators - which we are and looked lethargic and were wasteful - derby other than the 25 yarder didnt do much. We were pretty solid, I suppose.

The win will surely increase some confidence for derby but they get it i hope at the emirates at the weekened, btw who are u guys playing?

We were cos that goal came out of nothing - so there is some positive things. Tho we need creativity quickly and badly - Duff, Charlie and Emre need to be playing in midfield BUT injuries have prevented that.

tbh, i aint too confident with newcastle at the moment after wigan match. I hope emre is back against arsenal cos we are lacking him and maybe the experience of viduka.

West ham will be interesting.

Owen's fit to face West ham on Sunday, Viduka and Emre are back in the team!

Emre is fit BUT he wont play against West Ham, he is lacking match fitness - Viduka should be fine tho.

Thought he would've played in some reserve games, anyway we beat the hammers 3-1 with 2 goals from viduka and one from n'zogbia.

Owen 'tweaked' his groin injury, hopefully it's not serious.

arsenal kids vs. newcastle..am expecting a defeat tonight..unless we take it seriously!

arsenal at whatever level play better football than us!

Im going to the game tonight.. going to be a real hard 1 for us we playing with all the kids but i dont think we got any big names on the bench aswell.. so if it gets hard we cant even call on anyone to help us out..

Owen clause removed

Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has moved to quell fresh speculation over Michael Owen's future by confirming a buy-out clause in his contract has been removed.
http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_2804989,00.html

Well, if Owen wasn't committed, he's just missed his chance to get out.

Anyway, hopefully it'll put an end to all the speculation about him leaving. It's good that the damn thing doesn't exist anymore! :)

Bad news for Newcastle:

England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has been ruled out of Tottenham's match at Newcastle on Monday by a calf strain.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury in his England's 2-1 defeat against Russia in Moscow on Wednesday.

Robinson was criticised for his part in Roman Pavluchenko's winner, which left England on the brink of failing to qualify for Euro 2008.

Radek Cerny is set to deputise at St James' Park, because England Under-21 keeper Ben Alnwick is on loan at Luton.

Jol did not indicate how long Robinson is likely to be absent for.

(BBC)

That is bad news cos Paul Robinson is a disaster and a gurantee for atleast 1 goal the way he has been playing lately.

That Cerny is an okay keeper, much better than Fatty tho thats not a tough task

Berbatov_375683a.jpg

:21:

:21: smell of victory

we won 3-1 without playing well, we were below average.

We play well differently without Viduka. Spurs were lucky we didnt have him fit cos the score margin would of been a lot larger cos the way we play with a target man helps to create more width and more crosses into box.

yet again we were average against Spurs BUT we got a comfortable win :27: :27: :27:

I guess Berbatoon didnt start cos they knew he wudnt try as hard against the club he supports :21: :21:

Owen could be out for a month after getting injured in England's friendly.

I'm wondering why Mclaren played him, it's not like england have got anything, in the near future, to prepare for.

One good thing is that Martins will get to play now :D

i've got Owen in my Sun Dreamteam, he's been an utter let down. League form has been rubbish, now he's our for another month, I'm doomed!!!

I aint that fussed - gotten used to Owen getting injured for England.

Anyhow the main thing is that Oba will now get a run in the side, a run that he certainly deserves

Huge problems for Big Sam. I watched some of the game and Newcastle looked awful. The long ball game isnt quite working with the players he has got.

The fans gave him a lot of stick yesterday and his substitutions I thought were a bit strange.

Some of the 'abuse' Samual got from fans sitting next to the dug out was pretty vitriolic.

If he wants to coach some minnows - he can try for the England job again!

he brought it upon himself - the guy was just lost yesterday.

It was clear in the 1st half that it wasnt working so changes had to be made, he did nowt until 50th minute - and even then he took off our most creative player. Then 10 minutes later he gets Milner ready to come, that was a good idea cos we need our 2 wingers to be playing if we want to get back into the game . . . . . . errmmmm hold on he is bringing Milner on for the other winger, what a mongish decision.

He was lost yesterday and has been for quite a few games in a row - with Blackburn away and Arsenal at home to come the pressure is just gonna crank up on Big Sam

GA, would you agree that Viduka and Martins arent players that enjoy the ball being hoofed up in the air against 6foot plus defenders. Both the aforementioned are skillful players, surely the ball should be played into feet?

totally agree - this long ball stuff does NOT suit them. Everyone can see that BUT Sam is being stubborn. We need to go back to playing a 4-4-2 and start passing the ball about, we have some good midfielders and we need to start utilising them. In the past few years the best football we played was under Glenn Roeder when he got N'Zogbia and Solano getting chalk on their boots. Obviously Solano has gone BUT Milner is there and he should be playing.

Also the fans are getting sick of his continual selection of Alan Smith, a waste of money and a waste of spot in the team.

If our results dont improve soon i wudnt be surprised if Sam is given his marching orders

i have got to say that im suprised at big sam he needs to change the style the players that newcastle have they should be playing more attractive football but not happening i think he is next manager to leave

When did Samual ever play 'pretty football' at Bolton? He could turn Brazil into 'Wimbledon' (no offence Hash....)

More woe for the Geordies and Big Sam. Sliding down the table and the fans not happy at St James' Park

BBC Five Live '606'.

Geordie fans saying "BIG SAM.....OUT" - they werent too keen on his arrival - and cant wait to see him gone!

I was heartened by todays performance...cos they actually played - which didnt do lastcouple of games...

problem is our footballing style..totally bypassing the midfield.

GA / Toony.

What exactly happened with the Barton/Dabo incident, you guys any info on what caused the fight?

Oxy said:

true but he must have known that the newcastle fans would not stand for long ball game he does need to go now or they will slide in the table even more

I dont think managers really care - they just want the 'gig'. Very career orientated - esp English managers

not sure - the court case is set for June 2008

Joey Barton is claiming self defence BUT i guess we will have to wait for the trial to hear what happened

Well it all seems to be kicking off at Newcastle. Rumours of a players revolt now against Allardyce.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7126310.stm

I think he has lost the players. His so called man management whilst impressive at the start is now crumbling, the following comment by him is proof of that

And the Newcastle manager admitted: “No disrespect to the players we brought in, but we couldn’t really get what we wanted on the first round in the summer transfer window. We ended in the second or third area.

Geez im sure the players are well chuffed with those comments, its similar to what Souness was saying when we had that injury crisis.

Personally im calling for Sam to get sacked, simply cos there has been no improvement on last season - infact the performances have been worse by miles and his tactics are so negative. If he wants to keep his job then he needs to grow some cojones otherwise he will carry on losing games and he will get sacked

Not the best of comments by Sam. I'm sure the players were chuffed with what he said.

As a neutral I'd be surprised if they sacked him though GA. I think they'll give him this season and then see what he buys in the close season.

Shearer waiting in the wings though :)

If Freddy Shepherd was still in charge then i wudnt expect him to be sacked either BUT the new owner didnt appoint Sam Allardyce, also rumours were at the time that Mike Ashley wasnt convinced by Sam (and that he was gonna give Sam a tough target like say top 6 and if he didnt achieve it he would get sacked) a few more losses and he will be gone imo.

The shadow of Shearer will forever loom on the manager of newcastle united (unless we appoint a truly world class manager) - it would probably make sense to give finally give Shearer the job so we can end all this "Shearer for manager" clamour

Sam has been playing him as a defensive midfielder or as a defensive right sided midfielder and he has been average - however he played upfront with Martins against Arsenal and he was class. The guy won loads of headers and he ran like mad for 90mins, didnt let the Gooners defence rest for a second. AND he was rightly awarded the man of the match

thats his best position, but in reality he doesn't score enough goals!!! he will be great alongside viduka, don't thnk hae has ever recaptured his leeds form, the broken leg did help.

TAK said:

I agree he is not a prolific scorer BUT he is more than useful upfront - i thought he would never ever be a decent striker again thanks to Fergie BUT i was impressed with him on Wednesday. A run of games in strike and we will see the old Alan Smith

End of the day, it was only a point.. a point or less against Brum and he will back under pressure!

Didnt think we played that good...but we outfought arsenal to the ball.

BUT, our ball retention is still poor...

If the players dont have the desire to play every game as we did against arsenal with passion..

our football won't do the talking.

Another shocking display by all accounts from Newcastle.

They scraped a 2-2 draw against Derby and today lose to Wigan - seems like a few of the Newcastle players arent fit to wear the black and white shirt.

I dont blame the players (tho there have been some unacceptable performances)

It is our manager who is to blame - we need to sack him ASAP. The guy has had an entire pre-season and all he has managed to do is take the team backwards. His negativity is so frikkin frustrating, its criminal what he is doing to our club - get rid of him Ashley

but GA, we can question the tactics till the cows come home, but I just get the impression that quite a few of the Newcastle players arent giving it anywhere near 100%

because he has lost the players (despite 1 or 2 defending him in the media) - they dont want to play for him cos he has shown himself to be a clueless buffoon - and he has no one to blame BUT himself.

The guy has criticised his signings in public, saying they were 3rd and 4th choice - what a wonderful thing to say, does he expect those very players to fight that extra bit for him after comments like that?

He has blamed his players for the predicament we are in - conveniently ignoring the fact that its his fault that we are struggling.

He has constantly made poor selections match after match - totally nonsensical. The following is a list of major errors he has made;

1) Plays a left midfielder in left back despite having shelled out £6million for a new left back in the summer

2) Signs Alan Smith despite there being no need for him - the guy gives 100% BUT he doesnt score goals and he IS NOT a mifielder of any sort

3) He plays our leading goalscorer from last season and so far this season in right midfield

4) He refuses to play 2 wingers at the same time

5) He is a negative priick - went to Derby of all places looking for a draw. He played for a draw AT HOME to Liverpool. There are many other examples

6) He plays rubbish football - no balls whatsoever. There has not been a single game where we have played excellent football for the large part of it

etc etc

I could go on and on and on BUT the point im getting at is

SACK HIM, SACK HIM, SACK HIM, SACK HIM and finally SACK HIM.

pretty much what I think... although I was more of a vexed state when souness was in charge. Calmer because Souness was in charge for too long.

Midfield is totally bypassed atm. Reason why emre( [plays along the ground) is on the bench.

Only possitive thing about fat sam is that players he has brought in makes our squad stronger.

I do agree with fat sam that some players are not trying at all. But its the tactics which are horrible.

Roeder had a raw deal with crazy injury crisis.. At least he had the decency to resign. Fatty aint gonna go cos he is on minted contract.

Glenn Roeder did an excellent job under the circumstances (my only gripe with him was him struggling to get the best out of Charlie) - Fat Sam has been awful in comparison and the current injury crisis is nowhere near as bad as it was under Roeder

N'castle need Owen back ASAP but he'll probably breakdown again after a few games!.Looking at their team i don't see many players the opposition will fear infact they hardly have a midfield worth mentioning!
Like many "big" clubs they've great potential but it has to be supported with hard cash, even then i am not sure if Sam is the correct man for the job.Since the days of Keegan they've made many changes but with little success. The top four seem to be leaving them behind like i remember how L'pool played them of the park so i don't see them winning anything in the forseeable future.

That was more to do with us being so rubbish - that day a pub side could have turned up and trounced us.
