The NFL Thread

Although I despise the packers they have suffered a real miscarriage of justice. Even more galling that the sea-chickens were there to benefit from it.

What got lost in the whole thing was how awesome the seahawks defense was. Amazing 4 man pass rush.

Green Bay Jobbed by the refs two weeks in a row.

Darren Sproles fumbled the kick return with the Packers up 28-27, but cannot be overturned as runner was ruled down by contact.

On the other hand, GB cannot has been giving up too many big passes

So the Castillo experiment ends.

Can't really blame him, as Sal Pal said, "If you take me (a reporter) and ask me to run a space ship and crash it, who's fault is it?"

The seat under Big Red is getting hotter and hotter.

Eagles on a bye, NYG vs WAS is a huge game for both teams.

I believe this is RG3's first NFC East game? Also, Giants are 0-2 in the division, need this one today.

HUGE game this week for the Eagles. Monday night vs. New Orleans.

Part of me sees Vick having a replay of that magical night vs. Washington on MNF in 2010.

Part of me also sees a blowout that goes horribly bad :(

It was the latter.....

This has been Dallas week but after losing 4 in a row, it's hard to get one's self up for even that.

Just when you thought the Eagles were turning things around with their first season opening TD drive, Vick gets concussed, the defense falls apart, and Special teams allows a TD. :/

Managed to get a big win. Only played against 4 or 5 however. Not got going to complain because I desperately needed a win.

Wow. Eagles have reportedly cut Jason Babin. House cleaning in under way. No way Reid or Vick will be back.

Doesn't anyone follow the play-offs on this forum or is everyone a Giants or Eagles fan.

Delighted with the 49ers, wasn't sure how Kaepernick would fare in his first play-off game but after the interception he was amazing. Would have been an amazing match if the Seahawks had gotten through with two red hot young quarterbacks.

Surprised that the Broncos blew the game against the Ravens, their safety will be having nightmares. Expect the Pats to beat Houston.

Which means a possible 49ers-Patriots superbowl. Or is it destined to be a fantasy farewell for Ray Lewis or Tony Gonzales ?

Intrigued by the Eagles getting Chip Kelly. Credit to them for landing the guy they wanted all along though. Now...who will play quarterback?

2 big matchups tomorrow.

For some reason, I can't stand Matt Ryan and the Falcons. So I obviously want to see the 49ers in the SB.

From the AFC, I think I'd be ok with either team making it but Harbaugh vs Harbaugh for the championship would be an excellent storyline.

Plus Flacco is an alumn of my University so I have to roll with him.

Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh is going to be the dryest storyline ever with the cosntant face time their clan is going to get

IMO best matchup:

Pats vs 9ers:

Brady, got his 1st ring in NO, now returns to get his 4th against the team who he grew up watching and attempts to tie the idol who played for the team he has to face now.

Best matchup by a mile.

Also, not sure why the media is obsessed with portraying Lewis like a saint - he was involved the murder of 2 men

Rooting for Brady to get his 4th ring!

Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh, only one brother will hold the Lombardi aloft!

What a fascinating storyline.

IBITT, you must be excited.

Not watching this Superbowl. If I have to see another promo glorifying Ray Lewis, I'm going to be sad

Harbaugh clan media hype incoming for 2 weeks. Won't be watching ESPN.

Glad Hockey season started.

So the Eagles decide to bring back MV7. Think it has more to say about the available qbs than their faith in him.

but he is a good fit to chip kellys new offence!! think he will have a big year this year as will mccoy - fully expect the eagles to be reinvigorated.

How about the percy harvin situation - if the vikes trade him i'll be so mad!! aside from AD nobody else on offence coupled with an ageing defence means keeping harvin is a must!!!!!

We'll see, in theory he's a fit. Of course none of it matters if the o-line doesn't stay injury free this year.

Harvin is a bonafide star, had him on my fantasy team and whatever team he's on is a lucky one.

Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a six-year, $120.6 million contract that will make the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history

Wooh! To think, it wasn't that long ago that he was being questioned as a franchise quarterback.

Jordan, Jockel or Fisher. I would be happy if either of those guys will be wearing the Kelly Green come draft day..

What are your thoughts on the off-season so far RR?

Solid Offseason so far but I am quite concerned we didnt show any interest on an OT, I mean Hermans when playing LG is probably the top 5 guards in the league and he is not the right choice at LT.. I am a little annoyed also that we didnt go after Darrius Herward Bay, he has the size and speed and with Desean at the other end it would have been a lot of fun to watch.... Also predicting Nate Allen to rebound he is very good in coverage just a little soft when it comes to hitting I think he is better than Chung and if Phillips can stay healthy him and Allen would be an excellent combination with Chung backing up.

You're definitely right in that it doesn't matter who the QB is, get the O-Line up to NFL standards!

In regards to the D, I'm interested in seeing the switch to the 3-4 and the change in philosophy.

I am not sure about the 3-4, I am so used to watching the gang green 4-3 for over 2 decades and now it feels strange. Guys like Jerome Brown (RIP), Reggie White (RIP), Clyde Simmons all came from the 4-3, that was our history which was so rich...I am sure the Steelers fans would feel strange if their D switched to a 4-3 one day all of a sudden, ANyway I hope it all works out..

Peters back to 100 percent fully healed from injury, Great news to hear the best LT in NFL is all ready to go...

Philly picked up Freddie Flintoff's little brother lol.. Was browsing through the Giants messageboard and there is already a big fuss as the Kid has already called out JPP lol... LOVE ITTT Welcome to Phillyyy.....

Eagles just signed Felix jones, this offense is going to be very hard to stop. Key to using Felix Jones is by only giving him the ball 10-12 snaps max per game as he is injury prone. This offense is going to open some eyes if all goes well..

What's your pecking order at RB?

Shady obviously #1 but would you give Felix more touches than Brown?

Pecking order for me def would be;

1) McCoy 2) Brown 3) Jones..... I think Felix would be ideal for returning kicks, we havent had a good kick returner since Demps left and maybe a few carries in the game to pulverise the opposing defenses especially now that he is the fastest back Eagles have. Felix was having a good career being a change of pace back in Dallas till Barber went down with injury and they asked him to take the full load which he couldnt as he kept getting injured. I dont get the Chris Polk love, he really hasnt done much rather than on special teams here and there.. This is probably the most talented offense Michael Vick or any QB for that matter has ever had, I am really holding my hopes up for Momah, if he pans out at 6-7 4.44 forty speed he would be our Plaxico...

Say hello to Philly's Plaxico Buress;

Hopefully he wont turn into a Ramses Barden lol...

Avant has been dependable, but yeah it would be awesome if we could find another WR.

I am not sold on Barkley or Foles in this offense. Vick making all sorts of claims about how fast he is etc, I am hoping we have a real bad year and have a crack at Bridgewater next year or Clowney ?....However if Vick lights it up I wouldnt be sad.........Lets ride this season on VICK hope he stays healthy..

I'm going into this season with no expectations at all. I just have a feeling that win or lose, each game will be very much fun to watch.

I am really excited to see Felix Jones, whenever he was on the field for Dallas vs us I always used to be nervous and if I rem correctly Dallas has not lost a game in which Felix played against us. Its going to be a fun season thats for sure.

Yo Gotham, are we doing fantasy football again?

Don't think so IBIT, sorry. I'd love to but we had what, 3 or 4 people that actually kept up with it last year? This despite each person who signed up promising me that they would.

Can't be much worse than our kick returners at the moment.

Eh not looking good for us. Gronk, I don't expect to be a factor for us the early half of the season because of his back/neck surgeries. Jake Ballard will need to step up. I doubt we'll be running those 2 TE sets but if Tebow does elect to play TE, then it might be a possibility.

I expect us to run the ball a ton more with the depth at RB. Rookie WRs, Crippled TEs, and probably the best we've been at RB since 2001 - it's shaping up to be a fascinating season.

Credit to the Pats, don't know how many organizations would cut their player out-right as soon as hearing that he was arrested.

For Hernandez, no comment.

How about "innocent until proven guilty"?

My main question is how does his release now( vs in the next few months when he goes to trial) affect the salary cap hit. And his guaranteed money on the new contact, most of which has been distributed over the length of his contract. I know some contracts have an "out" for failure to perform issues( such as jail, but also injuries, suspensions etc).

I guess the Pats don't care if he was even proven innocent vs. murder.

To just be associated with the actions that are being alleged was against him.

It is crazy. Guy gets arrested and his jersey become number 1 seller on amazon. All three of his Patriots Jerseys were in top 10 few days ago with two in top five.

Not sure why.

I remember when Vick was convicted, I sold mine the same day for like $20.

It's a hard-nose philosophy.

I know when the Randy Moss outburst happened, he was gone QUICKLY. The organization doesn't take nonsense from amyone and I'm not suprised Hernandez is gone so quickly. But the salary cap is going to be heavily impacted though.

ACL tear :(

Unfortunate. Hate for a guy to go down but I think the Eagles have a knack for finding good depth WRs. Expecting Brent Celek to rise

Emerging Ravens' TE Dennis Pita also done for the year. Caps are starting and so are the injuries.
