The Random Talk thread [Read ground rules in post #1]

I was going through some posts earlier; about a couple of months ago, when it came to my attention that you're quite well versed on matters relating to C.P.E.C.

If you don't mind me asking, can I know which companies are partaking in the acquisitions of heavy duty machinery and their accessories? Is the government entertaining private foreign vendors who might be interested in supplier such assets on the on going projects that are currently happening ??

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated bro.

will get back tomorrow or day after

though for majority of projects (if not all) financing is secured and EPC contractors already engaged

i think since its CPEC the chinese contractors get preference but ill find out and let u know

There is a guy sitting at the reception desk at the library who looks JUST like Misbah down to the beard and facial features. Same hairstyle too.Considering asking him for a selfie.

All Pakistani look the same, don't be racist.

Yeah. Mostly cuz on campus jobs are very easy to fit into your schedule as a student, besides they can study while they work too.

Like srsly seems like a really chill part time job. This Asian girl was straight up loafing around on netflix while working as a receptionist.. Making $8 per hour.

I wanted to apply but am lazy.

Yeah. We are all Fawad Khan replicas. Don't need variety when you have perfection:afridi

Bollywood and Tamil Movies tell me that Pakistani men all look handsome. Even Kashmiri " terrorrists" look like super model, if they don't look like super model, we don't accept them as villains.

Please look at this villain from an old Tamil Movie. This is not an illegal link, this is legal. Check out that handsome light skinned male at 11:07. It also helps us dark skinned South Ind ians/ Sri Lankan Tamils/ Malaysian Tamils feel that we are not inferior for being dark skinned. We love watching light skinned hand some male being beat up. We hate light skin handsome males, but we also secretly want to be handsome like Afghan heroes of bollywood like SRK, Salman Khan, Amir Khan and so on.

Lol yeah, it's a really chilled out job. No customer service skills needed, don't need to smile, no small talk, no nagging bosses. You just sit comfortably in your chair and check out laptops :afridi

I'm thinkin about do that next semester.

He still has a strong fan following among older generations and rural audience.

Ah, I have no idea about Tamil films. I've never watched any.

I hate how Pakistan parents expect their kids to be their slaves and do everything they tell them to do.

Embarrassing brother. So are you like the "posh" type in Chennai who out-posh the actual posh living in the West ? Do you watch Bollywood movies ? Do you only speak English at home ?

His movies were actually good back in the day. He did play an Alpha-Male role which everyone respects. If you look at all the well respected actors like Rajni, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Mamooty and Vijaykanth all of them are calm, cool and they genuinely look & sound humble when speak. That is why they have huge fan following. Vijaykanth just became a joker afterwards.

In Karachi we call such folks "burgers" :yk

The kind that speak Urdu with an angraiz accent even though they haven't stepped out of the country in their lives.

ABCD stands for American born confused desis.

I know, was saying it is also a common breed along with burgers. Both go hand in hand.

Now I'm missing the unhygienic yet delicious beef (?) burgers at Mr. Burger back in Pak.

I've never seen any of Vijayakant's movies.

Have only seen a couple of Kamal's and Rajni's.

Not a Tamil film buff at all, me.

My cousin who lives in Chennai is a massive Rajni fan though. He has seen all of Rajni's films at least twice and knows all the dialogues by heart.

That is true tbh Chiranjeevi ruined it for himself guess anyone does that when they enter politics. Mohanlal,Mamooty and Rajni still got it.

We gotta a Salman Khan fan here over folks.

Wonder what Vijay will do, he can easily enter politics now. Jayalalitha is gone, Karunanidhi will be gone soon, Vijakanth is sick and has become a comedian. Stalin is the only recognizable figure but DMK's reputation has been ruined for ever. I think Vijay should enter politics and try to help TN, I believe he can actually do that.

No actor can do crap bro,we need leaders or businessmen becoming CMs all these socialist and freebies have destroyed TN imo,its time to embrace capitalism and create industries and business infrastructure.

Considering the amount of research and educated talent that TN has its a shame that TN isn't world class yet.

The problem is not CM, it is everyone who is underneath him/her. When you have nearly 150+ MLAs under you, you tend to have corruptions and bribery taking place. In the West wealthy men enter politics, in the East people get into politics to get become wealthy. Corruption is a cultural habit in the sub continent, it will take a very long time before we see it all gone. But don't worry, it will be eradicated, you might be 70 years old then, but it will happen.

Lol the school term for those kids in Canada is usually "whitewashed", the opposite though, more like the brown kid who's trying to be too Canadian. there is this kid named Al Ansar and he likes to make everyone call him Al... Makes me so mad..

Absolutely freezing outside today, walked home from school and stayed in my jacked for another 2 minutes.

Also played badminton in school today, love badminton but I never get to play outside of gym class:(

Yeah I thought today was incredibly cold, wore my warmest jacket yet still was freezing, and then I see a Canadian post it was cold in Canada and now I'm wondering how much worse it must be over there :usman.

Have to walk home in this weather too :danish

27 degrees Fahrenheit here. It's not supposed to be this cold down here. Hope it snows during finals week :afridi

This is the start of finals week and the goddamn busses aren't running, despite knowing full well people will be studying well into the night -_-

Feel like Leo di Caprio in Titanic when he dies of hypothermia in Titanic whenever I'm walking around campus in this weather.

So Syed1 are you a burger or a bun kabab ?? Also I sometimes feel Suleiman bhai is a burger :yk

Well my entire schooling from grade 1 until high school A level graduation was in St. Patricks.... Now that place is quite unique in it's own sense. as I was an OG Patrician I was labelled as a Saddar Maila by kids who were part of the 'hip' GCSE crowd - these people joined during the latter part around from grade 9th on wards.

Although when it came to my friends from primary and junior high, who were not studying in O/A level section, considered me as a Burger kid. So basically I am in a similar boat as you brother.

I have seen / interacted with both sides extremely closely, since I am myself from modest background (financially speaking) by my entire batch mates are typical GSCE kids who go to those Rs 1500-2000 barbers on weekends :yk :))

Oh I have a few close friends from St. Pats, I met them here in Canada, they would be a year ahead of you. We all did our Alevels in 2009. I myself went to St. Michaels from lower nursery to Alevels.

However, there were a few juniors in my uni who were from St. Pats who I was quite close with and they would have been from your batch.

And 1500-2000 for a haircut?!?!?! I used to pay about 80-90 at my local barber and then he jacked up the price to 150 and I absolutely hated paying it LOL..

You're in SIN now, right?

I was there not too long ago and it's dayem, it's huuumid. The most humid place I've ever been to, difficult to survive outside.

No, but I'm used to Pakistani winters, I don't think I'd survive in Canadian winters, would take me a while to get used to it.

Weather is alright now, got gloves just so I could handle the cold, but it's already over

Going hard studying right now for finals. Will probably not watch the 1st Test at all. :uak

This series is honestly at the worst time for me, 1st test starts at 10PM so can only watch around an hour on weekdays, maybe stay up till 2 on weekends. Will be in America during the second test, won't be able to watch. Can only watch the 3rd test as it ends a day before school starts back up. ODIs (not that I care too much about them) also near exam time:(

Bio Medicine at Melbourne Uni requires at least 97 so I have gotten into my first choice course.

Pumped!

Just got an email from u of t's computer science course coordinator saying I was one of the top performers this semester. I myself am shocked. This is supposed to be the 11th best computer science university in the world after all. Over the moon right now. 2 months ago I had given up hope that this university is too difficult. But hard work and praying really payed off.

InshAllah brother. Hopefully things will get better. Just maintain your cool, stay strong and keep the belief in Allah. Keep praying and at the same time also keep at ur business. For wealth I think they say if u read surah waqia every night you will never hv poverty.

Surah e Waqia for wealth ?

You're in high school right? My cousin goes to high school here in Canada and it's a joke lol. I could do this stuff in 8th grade. I guess it's all relative though and people who went to school here will find it harder as opposed to people who went to school in Pakistan.

What part of Canadian high schooling system is a joke to you?

What part of Canadian high schooling system is a joke to you?

By joke I don't mean it is bad. It's just so easy compared to high school in Pakistan. Most Pakistani's who do high school from back home and then come to Canada will tell you the same. I personally think that the education system in Pakistan is much better even if it is way more difficult. (Just talking about private schools here because most public schools in Pakistan are awful.) Most people at my university who have come from Pakistan including me are not finding it that difficult compared to those who went to high school here. The subject with the most difference in difficulty is math. Most of the first year stuff here in university, I had done in 10th/11th grade. Computer Science courses are different though since they start from scratch over here and even though I took it in Pakistan, it is not taught that well since it is not a popular subject there. (There were like 8 people in my class.) Here at U of T thought its taught superbly and I'm enjoying it a lot. That is why instead of doing double major in Math and Computer Science, I might just do Computer Science specialist.

Guys, can anyone suggest a good list of movies/tv shows to watch over the breaks? Thanks.

Off the top of my head

Godfather Trilogy
Pulp Fiction
The Departed
Goodfellas
Django
Inglorious
Reservoir Dogs
Se7en
Fight Club
re watch The Dark Knight trilogy
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Schindlers List
The Usual Suspects

As for shows try Breaking Bad, Fargo, Band of Brothers, GOT, Narcos, The Sopranos, The Shield, The Wire, Arrested Development.

Maybe watch some good anime like Death Note, Naruto, One Piece (Great but you need a LOT of time), Hunter x Hunter (Just started it. Very good so far.)

So the math here is a joke. Hmm, see High School (at least in Quebec) is divided in to two sections: One for science oriented students who are taught Physics, chemistry and advanced math as part of their curriculum and the other is art oriented. So perhaps your cousin is in an art-oriented section.

Anyways, you end up learning the same thing eventually. Which math did you have to take for comp sci? Discrete math only?

Here at U of T all Comp Sci students have to take proper math courses in first year like calculus, proofs and linear algebra. If I do a math major along with computer science then Im guessing I will have to do a whole bunch of upper year math courses. If I do comp sci specialist (which I most likely will) then my degree will be fully focused on computer science though there will probably still be a few math courses in upper years.

Aaaaaaaah Ok hmm I see now. In Quebec Universities the comp sci program is 3 years and that's because all the calculus, linear algebra and stuff you're covering right now is taught in Cegeps (pre-University institutions). It's a good thing you've done all this before, means GPA booster courses for you. The nitty gritty of data structures, algorithms and various programming languages is what you'll probably learn in years 2, 3, 4.

Are you allowed any out of the program electives?

Yeah we have to choose at least 4 credits of electives out of a total of 20 which we can complete any time during the 4 years.
