Re: Topic-less thread

Saqs, you're 28? And Nostalgic's 33, and Mamoon is 22...

Kaayal, how old are you? All of you are sooooo old.

28 ain't that old. I haven't even peaked in life yet. 33 is peak age. Then it's all downhill.

When was the last time you had Feast? The bar of chocolate in the middle is non-existent now. Bunch of cheats.

And Magnum is overrated.

For the fortnight or so have been having feast almost every night.

Yes, it is non-existence and that's why it leaves an urge for the next one every time i finish one.

There is a restaurant in Pakistan call Usmania. It's in all major cities.

Has amazing ice cream. Truly amazing.

So, we will be invited in Usmania for Walima ?

Nah, don't like the overall food there.

From this talk i remember a quote from "Big Fish" movie.

Jenny : How old are you?

Ed Bloom : 18

Jenny : I am 8 , that means when i am 18 you will be 28.
And when I am 28 you will be only 38.

Ed Bloom : You are pretty good at arithmetic

Jenny : And when I am 38 you will be 48
That's not much difference at all

When you're 17 years and a few days old, it is.

Saqs was probably in 6th grade when I was born, and Nostalgic must have been in 10th.

Compare that to a newborn baby and that's old. How old are you, BTW?
I knew I was younger
Anyone know nice places in Pak? Gonna visit Pak this summer and the only place I know it the KFC in Jhelum which is mmmmm

Really Boring these days are with Pakistan not playing cricket. Can't believe they are having such a big gap for their next game.

First Pakistani_Legend, now you. Both of you seem older by your posts. And now you know how old I am. How old are you? :P

What city are you visiting? And why come to Pakistan? Go to Istanbul or Barcelona.

Also, is Jhelum a place?

@Haz95
Which city u are gonna vist?

Visiting my parent's hometown...It's in a place called Jhelum which is near the Punjab region. And after we're gonna go dubai(I know most the attractions there :D) cos before its ramadan
And 16 turning 17...I don't like being treated as a 'kid' which is why I post like that...

So I'm a little older. Who cares?

I didn't even know Jhelum was a place so thinking I'd know any attractions there is just insane. I've only been to Karachi in Pakistan, and all the supposed "attractions" seem boring. Also, I believe you don't wanna get blown up.

Have you been here before?

Had Prosecco last night. Sparkling white wine with light citrusy flavor and notes of vanilla and orange zest. Great with light snacks or by itself, also can be made into a great Bellini. Loved it.

By a few months, who cares?
Jhelum's just a city I think. I dunno attractions myself but the life its so much more relaxed and the farm life...If you're from a big city, you'd understand. And where I am from, the threat of getting blown up is proper low lol.
I've been 5x before and its been coincidentally 5 years since I've been(exactly actually 26th april 09) lol. I almost cried when I last came back lol

Half of my family is originally from Jhelum. There was a kidnapping of foreign Pakistani kids there a few years back I think.

Nice of you to make it sound welcoming.
But seriously, I did forget to mention that around that area Kidnapping is pretty common. I guess I'll have to act like a freshy and pretend I know no English so they don't think I'm some rich british kid who has wealthy parents to pay ransom.
The worst thing is tho the fact that they cut limbs of the kids they abducted off and make them beg for money and then take the money earnt by em for themselves.

Don't like George Michaels but his "Listen without prejudice" album was an underrated gem with songs like Freedom, Waiting for that day and Cowboys and Angels. Too bad he didn't continue in that tradition.

Still a month and half remains when mango strikes the market.

Nothing more refreshing yet nutritional than mango milk shake in hot June.

Just had mesquite grilled duck enchiladas with a sweet raspberry chipotle sauce. Really tasty.

You are only 33 and I called you 'Uncle'

I've been called far worse. Actually back in Pakistan the neighborhood kids started calling me Uncle instead of Bhai Jaan when I was 20, so I'm used to it.

Haha wow. I actually did believe you were over 50. Especially the way you speak of 'your Pakistan' as if it was ages ago. You're only five years older than me. And I was willing to become your shagird.

My Pakistan was ages ago. I haven't been back in eight years now, and compared to the most memorable time in my life (late teens), it has changed beyond recognition, not just from a geopolitical/security perspective but in spirit. My Pakistan lives on only in my heart and mind. What was it that LP Hartley said, "The Past is a foreign country: they do things differently there."

You can still be my shagird. Better yet, my chela, which is like a shagird, but you get to run errands for me. Think about it.

It was obvious Nostalgic was playing a gimmick. :moyo

See, Mamoon saw right through me. Insightful fella.

Saqs was probably in 6th grade when I was born, and Nostalgic must have been in 10th.

That's sort of how I look at it. Kids starting college this year were born in 1996 or thereabouts. So when I started college (in 1999), they were babies. It's a depressing thought, how quickly time flies.

I had Fanta at the mall today. Haven't had Fanta in years. It was crisp, and also had an orange flavor. And a hint of corn. From the high fructose corn syrup.

Its great talking drinks with a fellow connoisseur.

Fanta, a halal version of an orange Bellini. Cheers!

Pakola is good too. Reminds me of Pakistan.

I use to mix Fanta/Mirinda with Indian made foreign vodka, it reduces unpleasant smell of spirit

Its always better to mix vodka with a soft drink. Coke is best but its also more expensive than say 7up. Whiskey and 7up is also quite good. Im nursing a hangover here so i know what im talking about lol

Jhelum's a river too.

You can always milk cows on a farm. That would be fun.

And I'm kidding, you probably won't get blown up in Karachi, well, at least the odds are low if you stay at home.

You're 16 and have been to Pakistan 5 times already? And you liked it? I'm actually happy to hear that, don't know why. I guess it proves that not all people who live abroad think the same way.

Uhhh... When you're in Pak and you act like a foreigner you're acting like a freshie. Such a despised term. Hate it. Remember mate when you're here, you're the odd one out. Not us.

Like I'm studying. :P I find ways to distract myself.

And correction: Pakistan is YOUR home, not mine. I barely belong here.

You should start now :P

And you were born in USA,it doesn't make you an American, right?Or your family is also not Pakistani?
No offence,I am just asking.:)

Why? I know that you have lived in America but that doesn't mean you aren't a Pakistani. According to that logic, I am an Arab.:srt

Am I missing something here?

And I awe at those too who put a flag before their name of that country they are living rather than the country from where they belong.

I never said I wasn't Pakistani. I just the US is my home.

I'm actually very proud to be Pakistani, for all those incorrect stereotypes out there. Cricket has brought about this one positive change in me. :)

Thanks cos Islamabad is pretty close to where I live considering the size of Pak

PTDC site is good starting point for outdoor destinations, you can browse through every province.

You don't get the same feel in Pakistan...It's all such a nice break from the urban life. Tbf, my neighbour who's proper modern came back yesterday from there and he wanted to go back to- you'd expect him to hate it. Pak is just, its really good- if you're a guy not a girl tho cos its like prison then..I'm a proper english born british guy as well.

Sorry, that was a bit unnecessary and rude lol. I'll have to act like a local then so that I fit in perfectly.

I don't think being a girl had anything to do with it. I had only come here once before I moved here, and I was 4, I think.

It was the winter but still too hot for my taste. And I didn't have any friends or anything and I just hated it. I like it now.
:pakflag2

I was waiting for the right time to use that, I love it! :D

.

No mention,please..

No Pak is not a prison for girls,I think. It was in the past when girls were considered very delicate and were not allowed to do any thing, now girls really enjoy everything that want to and they take part in every thing alongside with men,I am a girl and it's really a good place for me.

The heat is one thing I can't handle- here in England its what 8 of 9 degrees CELSIUS and I still leave my window open- in Pak its like 30-40 degrees minimum. Thing is, there's too many perverts in some parts of Pak(no offence to anyone here) and they go for foreign girls- Protective uncles in Pak kno this and won't ever let you leave the house which is why its like prison.

I know, right? The weather is just unbearable!

And there are loads of weird people here who just scare the hell out of you. So keeping a girl at home isn't really a problem, they themselves aren't willing to leave most of the time.

Yeah its the people who stare and stuff...My sister tells me this which is why she isn't a fan of Pak but she likes going to visit grandparents.
I can just about handle british heat which is known to be the coldest heat ever lol :)) never mind Pakistani heat

You're sister's absolutely right. They stare and make these weird faces at kids, girls especially, and it's just really weird.

My father rarely lets me leave the house alone. It's even weirder if you're talking in English or broken Urdu, and when you accidentally take the name of a foreign currency instead of saying rupee.

So you are living in Pak or are you on holiday?

Does an 18 yo qualify as a "kid"?

If so, the Intelligent Supporter is one too, I think. I don't know anyone else below the age of 20 here.

Nope, I was born in the US.

The US to Canada (I lived there for a year before I even started school) to the US to Pakistan.

Fascinating. Are you in Pakistan indefinitely or do you plan to return to the US?

Life in the fast lane :tahir. England is still the best.
For you, obviously.

For me it's the US, for those from PAK, it's here.

I'm here for now, and for a long time to come. I don't think I'll ever go back permanently, but I don't think I'll stay here either, even though I love both places a lot.

I'll move to some new country.

Had some Kerala/Malyali breakfast this morning. It was something like Uppam or Mappam and kutti tattu coconut dosa chutni or whatever you call it. I think it was a good change.

Tomorrow sis. I am still swimming through my Davidson's textbook of Medicine. Have not reached the shore yet.:22:

Pray for me..:)

You will ace it,Inshaa Allah..

I also have a full book test of Maths tomorrow and I still have to prepare half book:(

Really?I think there are many posters who were born in 1997.

And we are 17 years old kids:P
