Funny thing, twitter did not even give a gender option - and my first name is used both by males/females, so that was certainly a surprise.. But generally, I find it extremely unnerving when I get random messages like that on the net.. Sometimes, its better to maintain a low profile, you never know what the other person is like. Its not a safe world out there, one has to watch themselves continously.
Having said that, I completely enjoy the anonymity (in terms of gender) on PP. Most members dont know if I'm a girl or not, and many of them dont care. The focus is purely on discussion and all judgements are based on post-content, which is
exactly how internet forums should operate..
