The Wrestling Discussion Thread

Lame PPV. The matches at the PPV should feel special, not repeats of what you see on RAW or Smackdown. How many times have we seen Styles vs Jericho or Owens vs Ziggler in the last few weeks? Who wants to watch those matches again?

Styles V Y2J is worthy of PPV

Owens V Ziggler should have been in the pre-show, don't know why the hell they put ADR V Kalisto 2 out of 3 fall in the pre show

Styles vs Jericho would have worthy of a PPV if this was a first time match. Instead they ruined it by making them wrestle a couple of times already on Raw and Smackdown. Now I'm not interested in this match.

Yesterday, John Cena created a lot of speculation that something is going on with CM Punk and WWE when he posted the following on his Instagram:

ce587580d4950d458039bd20905bf17f.jpg

The reason that is significant is that is the photo Punk uses for his profile picture of his Twitter account. Maybe, Cena was just watching Slap Shot, but the internet has exploded that Cena is teasing the potential return of CM Punk to WWE.

What’s made the rumor even more interesting is that only a few hours before “Fastlane”, CM Punk’s profile on WWE.com has resurfaced on the WWE Alumni section of the website. You can see the profile right here.

The issues with Punk and WWE over the last two years have been well documented, but has something been worked out behind the scenes to get Punk involved with the company again?

It’s most likely not for an active role, but could WWE be preparing Punk for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame or even an appearance at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas?

Anything concrete is a long shot as of this writing, but suddenly, Punk working with WWE again doesn’t seem like something that will happen when hell freezes over.

The only thing we can do now is wait to see what develops between the two camps on the Road to Wrestlemania.

In-Shaa-Allah I'll make a spreadsheet and post the results in the next 24-48 hours. Been a busy weekend so haven't had the chance to put a spread sheet together yet.

Anyway - my predictions:

1) Owens
2) Brie
3) Kalisto
4) S&B
5) AJ
6) Wyatts
7) Roman

Just to let everyone know - I've also received confirmation that Shaz has chosen Kalisto in match number 3.

Just to make things a bit more interesting - Cena posted this pic on Instagram a few days before Royal Rumble and we know what happened there...

I think Cena wants to get fired badly.

And who is saying Punk should be in the HOF  quitter doesn't deserve to be in HOF

Cena also posted a picture of Undertaker. Does that mean its going to be Taker V Cena at Mania :sanga

Undertaker v Cena was a given until John got injured again, he tends to recover in double quick time so the match could still happen. WWE are teasing awarding a life time achievement trophy to someone next week, am guessing they are going to use it to start an angle which will potentially involve Undertaker and opponent. The Phenom will take the trophy and cut some kind of promo which goes like this "I have beaten them all...." then Cena's music will play or Sting.

Speaking of CM Punk, given his injury setback's in the UFC it wouldn't be outrageous to see him return to the WWE to improve his stock again and get people excited like before during his podcast/UFC-announcement; the UFC and WWE could reach a mutual agreement where he works a high profile angle in the WWE and then returns to the UFC for his debut fight. That way both parties benefit and Punk's UFC debut would have even more buzz.

Wow, I didn't realise it when I posted the post above but Punk has been added to the WWE alummni section adding to the speculation..

Yeah lol bought the WWE network (going to cancel after the first month, so it's free) just because of a potential Punk return.

If you keep changing your email you are eligible for the free trial, but for wrestlemania they won't be doing the trial. I watched Rumble for Free and now fastlane to.

What a troll lol. Reigns wins clean. Ambrose eats the pin. Insane. Wrestlemania is going to be a boofest.

And a smart decision by WWE creative to have Ambrose eat the pin in his home state. Wow! Real smart.

Cby5z9LWAAATgyc.jpg

Sums up Fastlane for me.

Built up Ambrose then have him eat a pin to the chosen one.

This company is sick, no wonder Punk got out.

Knew he'd never make it with things the way they were (not even maineventing PPVs despite being the champion lol, what a joke this company is).

The title only matters when they want it to matter, if someone else other than someone they back had the title, I bet they'd be going on second too.

I hope they boo the entire match. Have Rock there, it ain't gonna save ****. Romans crowning moment will him being rejected by 100k who don't want him.

leatherface58 I feel sorry for Edge and Christan, no one would have stayed back to watch their show after seeing that.

A lot more people would have watched had Dean or Lesnar won.

Fastlane wasn't all bad but it completely got derailed after the E&C segment. When did New Day go from heel to face?

Then what was Axel vs R Truth doing without any build up? You're telling me they had that as the penultimate match and Kalisto vs Del Rio as a dark match?

Well done for burying the Wyatts for the millionth time.

I will admit the main event was fun but Reigns kicking out of a Dirty Deeds, an F5 and a Kimura but Ambrose going down after one spear? You know how weak and pathetic that made Ambrose look? That too in his home state!

By looking at the Mania main event, I'm reminded of the Alien vs Predator tagline - Whoever wins, we lose.

Are you going to watch the passing of the shovel at Mania? Probably will need a new avatar after that.
I don't think anyone in recent times has been pushed as hard as Reigns. Even Cena at the start of his career lost clean and tapped out to Angle and Benoit.

Triple H put over Batista, Daniel Bryan, Chris Benoit and Brock. Even Orton though he buried him sometimes too.

I don't remember Roman even in a submission maneuver before today lol. The only time he was pinned clean was when Bray pinned him at Elimination Chamber 2014 during the six man tag.

Where does this put Ambrose I wonder? Probably back to feuding for the IC or US title.

Another thing which I have mentioned before is that Cena had the US title run for two years prior to his never-ending push. Roman was pushed straight into world title matches after the shield breakup. He should have had some IC and US title feuds to hone his skills.

We don't even have Punk or Bryan to save this Mania. SOS to Stone Cold?

I think they're going with an AJ v KO feud for mania, he took a shot on AJ on twitter.

It's rather funny how he acts like a tough guy on twitter, he's like Chinese version of Punk when it comes to being a jerk on twitter.

It would be hilarious to see how he reacts if Punk were to come back, as Punk pushed him around in ROH lol (from what I've read, shaz619 could probably elaborate)

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Hey dweebs…If AJ Styles ever comes anywhere near MY <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ICTitle?src=hash">#ICTitle</a>, I’ll take him out in less time than it took me to toss him out of the Rumble.&#55357;&#56842;</p>— Kevin Owens (@FightOwensFight) <a href="https://twitter.com/FightOwensFight/status/701607335874195456">February 22, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Logically they should add him to the triple threat, but they probably think having him in it will detract from the match (like adding Punk to Rock v Cena II lol...). I think he'll have Lesnar.

the only one who will be getting a blow up is you in your face. This Mania is going to be the biggest one and might inch over the one last year.
Doubt it.

Next one I think will be great as by then the WWE will know Reigns isn't a maineventer and the likes of AJ, Dean, Nakamura, KO and Balor will be better positioned.

Hopefully we get to see an AJ v Rollins iron man, best of 3 falls or ladder match for the WWEWHC.

Would be an instant classic.

Reigns could be amazing in a Kane type role. Winning mid card and tag titles but putting people over in world title feuds. For all of his flaws, his wrestling has improved, he sells well and is a good worker. Not a main eventer.

It's annoying as there is so much talent on the roster right now, but instead they continue to push someone like Roman Reigns to the moon (among the least talented guys on the roster) when you can have these guys lightening it up each night and sharing the spotlight. The WWE want that one dominant guy being the guy, when they could realistically have 4-5 guys sharing the title over the years and over certain periods when they catch fire.

It sickens me that Reigns has mainevented Mania (twice) while Punk hasn't.

It sickens me that Kane hasn't mainevented Mania. The most loyal, hardworking man in your company. Kane at his peak, could perform enziguri, he even did a Frankensteiner. He lifted Big Show clean and threw him over the top rope. He has mic skills too.

He was just fed to everyone in every era and isn't even respected anymore.

Punk was a very over guy as an anti hero but he turned heel since he was drawing more than Cena. And Cenacannotloselol.

He still has a chance, he could mainevent next year against Taker. They can't let anything else mainevent in Takers last Mania.

didn't Reign surpass everyones expectation last year

@<a href="http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/member.php?u=132954" target="_blank">Aman</a> what the hell bro :)))

Explain one thing to me guys. Wasn't Roman Reigns the champion going into the royal rumble? So isn't he entitled to an automatic rematch clause? Why did he have to beat Ambrose and Lesnar to get a match against Triple H for the title? He deserves an automatic rematch. WWE are so stupid sometimes and they also think that the fans are stupid as well but we aren't.

Surely I wasn't the only one yes-ing as HHH smashed Romans head into that table lmao

HHH is way over than the next face of the company LMAO

Think I won the prediction comp with Leathers, so to the guys who I beat (@Dashing_man shaz619 Red Devil)...

There was ECW level blood there. Great to see.

This was a very good Raw. Still think they should return to 2 hrs. I marked out when Shane returned. I can't take that dance seriously though after HBK spoofed it.

It was a huge pop, I was certain it was him the moment Steph won it. Who else could it have been after that?

Anyways, the card isn't too bad now with Shane v Taker and Ambrose v Lesnar.

I hope they let Ambrose get some offense in because he's only looked like a weak you know what for the last month.

A number of us had the same picks.

Talha, King, Adil, Leathers, Red Devil and myself finished first equal.

You are the real loser in this competition. You won the jobber PPV :))) have some shame beghairat :))) Predicting Fastlane was the easiest thing. Have you not seen how many real Jobbers won :)))

Come Wrestlemania, You will be the real jobber

I dont think Taker is going to be his opponent. Reports are coming strong about a quitter coming back aka CM Punk :))

he will face Shane McMahon. Taker is going after Kurt Angle who's returning Next week, confirmed

dashing_man, I think they'll only bring back Punk if Mania is in Chicago.

It would be too difficult for Punk to turn down, a WM mainevent in Chicago is probably the ultimate for him.

you're making it sound like as Punk is on the same level as Kurt Angle, Undertaker. No one cares about that rat. He's at best A- player. He will be back begging knocking at Vince door. He is already set to quit UFC like a coward he is.

Next week RAW is going to be epic. Kurt Angle returning baby WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Don't buy Punk or Kurt coming back.

Everyone here must agree it's the perfect time for a brand split?

There is just too much talent on the roster, they need to split the titles and make guys exclusive to each brand.

I think they should. Steph gets Smackdown, Shane gets RAW and Vince can retire for good and give the throne to HHH

Shane isn't beating Taker, so he's getting Smackdown.

I'm fine with that as long as they make Smackdown live, the spoilers kill it.

Smackdown will probably get guys Vince isn't high on e.g. AJ, Ambrose, KO etc. so it will pretty much be the show for smarks.

They can bring up NXT guys like Finn, Joe and Aries there too, while HHH can draft up WWE originals to Raw.

Over time, the ratings for speak for themselves, fans of Rollins would probably want him drafted to Smackdown after he becomes the number 4 guy behind Cena, Lesnar and Reigns.

Shane is the only McMahon, I loved that dance as a kid, still do. It was great seeing it again, it was like watching Raw as a kid again.

Shane is a phenomenal wrestler. I still can't believe how good he was without any indy circuit experience. His matches against Kane are one of the best matches in WWE. He deserves to be in the HOF as a wrestler

They should bring the World Heavy Weight Championship back to Smackdown. I didn't like when they merged the titles. 2 titles always look extra great on one's shoulder. imagine who cool Rollins would have looked at Summer Slam with the two titles and US title

You know what would be epic, how about every year at WM they have a face off between the WWE champion and WHC at WM in the mainevent. It would be epic, have the RR have a shot at FL at whichever champ they want.

Can't be the only one who thinks this is an epic idea? shaz619 leatherface58 Red Devil

I think they should stick to have RR as Championship match for now. Champion V Champion should be done not every year, it makes it useless. I liked the SVR era, they should do that and have Champion V Champion face off

The winner could win some sort of belt or title, that would acknowledge them as the best in the business. It would be the ultimate accomplishment in wrestling.

So e.g. AJ Styles - 6 matches BiTW matches , 4 time BiTW winner

BiTw is a makeshift name.

Sounds like a pretty good idea, it'd make the Mania main event even more prestigious. But for that to happen they'd need to build more stars, don't think they have enough World title material stars right now to warrant having two world titles. They do have quite a few guys who can reach that level if booked properly.

Smackdown is already more watchable than Raw. Less time, more wrestling, better quality matches, better commentary especially by Mauro Ranallo and heel Jerry.

The Miz has been getting some of his vicious attitude back. He also did a great job (pun intended) in the matches against Jericho and Styles. A really underrated worker.

That's a good idea though. I thought RR was Roman for a second lol.

Just imagine that every year, the two top dogs go toe to toe to decide who was the best for the year and the tag of top dog.

I like the idea but where will it leave the emerging talent ? From where will we get Daniel bryan or HBK winning the title for the first time moment. They shouldn't fix on it every year, just not regularly

Have them build there way up in the midcard, till one day they can finally mainevent WM. If anything it will make the journey even more special, from winning the WWE championship/WHC to being crowned the BiTW at the biggest stage of them all.

Someone posted this on the Nakamura YouTube video posted by WWE. Found it pretty hilarious:

Knowing Vince McMahon, he'll go from King Of Strong Style to King Of Making Roman Look Strong Style
