Things in cricket that annoy you

1. 2 test series.

What can be more annoying? And then follow it up with a million ODIs and half a million T20s.

2. Bowling a front foot no ball. Which makes the next delivery a free hit. Which if it turns out to be another no ball, just one free hit is given to the batsmen. I know the game is already in favour of batsmen, but if one no ball brings one free hit, shouldn't two no balls bring two free hits? :yk

The four biggest things that annoy me is:

1. When a stupid third umpire takes a million years to take a decision, even when it is a straightforward one.. waste of time..

2. When the on field umpires are so blind that they refer the run outs to the 3rd umpire even when the batsman is short by 2 metres.. waste of time

3. When I am watching highlights and ball goes to the boundary..the fielder stops the ball, and the 3rd umpire wants to see whether it crossed the rope or not, they literally show the whole event in the highlights...I mean for God sake, I am not interested to see this in my one hour highlights...waste of time..

4. When the on field umpire wants to constantly check the no ball after the dismissal...they do it too often and actually after every fall of wicket, they check it...annoys me and makes me grind my teeth..!!!!

3.catch drops :kami

2.wickets of no ball:amir

1.And finally what I hate the most are ttfs:kami:malik:farhat

Commercialisation, takes an age after a whole swath do ads for the next over to be played, reduces the process of watching cricket to almost a mere formality.

Those annoying TV ads.

Sometimes because of the ads I miss the first delivery of the next over

Run outs in test matches.

No urgency required...you have five freaking days to play and you get run out.

for me batting power play starting at 35 ovr
batting power play should taken by batting team by their choice

Cricket Australia
Junior Cricket rules in Australia

for me batting power play starting at 35 ovr

teams have the liberty to take BPP whenever they want. But they usually leave it for the 36th over

I think

Sight screen problems, especially when they get stuck displaying sponsor's ad

I still don't understand D/L method.

Also deciding a game if a team has managed to play 5 overs..... just not cricket!

:91: I can't think of four better answers! Hit the nail on the head.

In Tests when batsmen walk 5 miles down the pitch to block the ball ala Michael Clarke. Removes all that build up you expect from a shot walking down the wicket

This is a very popular opinion :)

No cricket match, not even pyjama cricket, should be decided because 5 overs has been played. This is pathetic.

I am so frustrated right now with the situation. Feel like throwing my laptop. Who decides the match in 5 overs? This is pathetic without any qualm.

Umpires taking ages to figure out if a ball touched the rope and then limiting reviews for dismissals.

Checking for a no ball when a wicket is a taken.. was the umpire asleep... why isn't every ball checked for no ball then.

Yeap agreed. And it takes the spontaneity away from the game.

Any bilateral odi series with more than 3 games

Not having bye days for bad weather especially in England.

Umpires calling for third umpire when it is clearly out or not out.

The way Pakistani batsmen are tentative, under-confident and unable to reply aggression with aggression. ALL OF THEM!!

SCHEDULE

test matches...... how can England play 10-15 a year and Pakistan be lucky to play 6-8!!!!!

then you have rankings based upon all of the above...........

India - Lanka ODIs

Australia - England Tests

South Africa - Pakistan across all formats

Was having a discussion with a friend in the morning about the annoying things in cricket.

The phrase “the batsman is trusting the pitch”.

When a batsman gets a thick outside edge and it goes for four, the commentators usually call it deliberate.

Leg-byes and byes. If a batsman fails to hit the ball with the bat, he should not be allowed to get runs. Only exception should be if the slips through the hands of the keeper because that is a fielding error.

However, if a batsman gets hit on the pads or is beaten and the ball lands in the gloves if the keeper, that should be it. You cannot score runs in those instances.

“Soft signals”. They usually mean little and are often controversial.

Umpires not showing flexibility when it comes to breaks. India had to wait for 45 mins to score 2 runs to win the game because the umpires called for lunch. That was beyond ridiculous. A little common sense will not hurt.

Elbow guards. It is a necessity for many batsmen, but from the perspective of a viewer, it doesn’t look good aesthetically. Batsmen lose their elegance.

Spinners bowling with their sunglasses on - heights of snobbery.

Batsmen who take their helmets off after scoring a 50 (all young Pakistani batsmen) and batsmen who don’t take their helmets off after scoring a hundred (Dhoni, Malik), and batsmen who some times bat without a helmet or a cap (Dhoni again).

Hate, absolutely detest, the umpire’s call and the impact outside rule.

Rain
Ramiz Raja and Guha's commentary
Defensive captaincy from ball 1
Chucking
Kookaburra ball
Boundaries brought in
Slow and tired pitches
Ball tampering

Legside hacks
A batsman who is always living dangerously but still manage to not get out

Good bump. You've put a lot of effort into this so I'll say which of your points I agree with and which ones I don't.

1) I don't really care about this phrase. I haven't heard that many people use this one tbh

2) The commentators don't usually call it deliberate

3) Yeah it's annoying when it happens, especially as I play cricket but I still think it should be allowed, keeps the game interesting, besides when the batsman is beaten and it lands in the keeper's gloves, byes are hardly ever run unless it's the end of the innings

4) Agree about soft signals, causes controversy, you've either caught something or not,

5) Agree about this flexibility thing, I think common sense needs to prevail sometimes, although sometimes it's for sponsorship reasons etc that they carry on with these breaks.

6) Elbow guards can protect you, IDC if it looks bad aesthetically, protecting yourself should be number 1 priority

7) Spinners bowling with sunglasses looks stupid and snobby, agree with you on this.

8) People can celebrate/not celebrate or bat with whatever equipment they want/don't want.

A good post by you though nevertheless.

Watching cricket in WI, SL, Zim is torture.

Bowlers rarely bowl yorkers in death now.

Dead and slow wickets.

Short boundaries.

Umpires taking millions of years to decide on a decision.

2 match test series.

Checking for no ball only when a wicket falls or there is a drs appeal.

1. Why is the umpire not checking for no ball during the bowlers run-up?

2. Who is to say that there are many more no balls not being called because a wicket has not fallen on that delivery?

Bad light stopped play.
Pitch favouring bowlers.
Tailenders scoring runs unless they are Pak ones:razzaq.
No balls.

Rain
Thinking that ICC tournament performances are the be all and end all of cricket
Wickets with no bounce or pace in them
Downgrading a knock because it didn't result in a victory
Pakistan and Indian fans playing down the other teams players due to their nationality

Injured player holding up play really annoys the hell out of me! If it is that bad then get off the field of play instead of wasting time and overs.

Abu Dhabi pitches.

The Kookaburra ball.

Umpires calling wides for deliveries in one day cricket even if the ball is two inches down the legside.

The endless Pak/Ind series against Sri Lanka.

The lack of universal television coverage for all international series - there was no way for a UK fan to watch the series between SL and SA except illegal streams.

1. Anything/everything that has contributed to the imbalance in the game such as bigger bats, pitches, boundary lengths, below par balls, new rules, etc..

2. The sudo enforcement of the FTP..

Umpires making dumb decisions.

Sorry but it irks me as a viewer.

Rain and test matches on flat tracks. Some of the cancerous fans are also very annoying.

When required run rate is 15 per over and a batsman is content giving strike to other less accomplished batsman.

M S Dhoni.

The Duckworth Lewis system

Weather interruptions.

The fact a lot of no-balls are not called.

Absurd comparisons. Annoying and embarrassing. Especially between past/proven ATGs and hacks.

Hated: "Ahmed Shehzad is more talented than Tendulkar". I mean come on Razzaq!

Run outs in test matches.

No urgency required...you have five freaking days to play and you get run out.

Have you not watched enough Test cricket? There is a need to get to the non-striker end to save your partner from facing a particular bowler... Also you need to rotate the strike to unsettle a bowler! Further every run is important in cricket (more so in Test Cricket), scoreboard pressure applies (both for batsman & bowler)

Noball is the most stupidest thing (Faults in tennis is understandable). Make it electronic line judge as in Tennis, this will make umpire concentrate on batsman properly...

Sides bowling just fourteen overs per hour even with the spinners on.....

Breaks in T20 games, totally unnecessary.

Rain breaks
Game on hai on PTV
Sikandar Bhakt after pakistan loses
Hassan Ali's Wicket celebration 🙂

When someone from the crowd is dumb enough to cross the sight screen all the while knowing that a bowl is about to be bowled:sanga

commercialisation of the game.

doctored pitches

days between test matches and one day matches.
