"Those who dared Bharat Mata, they were taught a lesson" : Indian PM Narendra Modi on China conflict

Come to think of it, those who have dated Bharat Mata, Nepal and BD for instance, or certain Kashmiris of the Mir Jafar persuasion, do appear to have belatedly learnt their lessons.

Lol, so canvassing for Bihar elections has started in right earnest.

Well said, Brigadier saheb! But the bigot in his lust for votes forgot this simple thing...

Bit rich coming from the Pseudo Secular who is obsessed with BJP as highlighted in a lot of posts and tries to justify every wrong thing on Modi. You should be the last person calling out those who are cut from the same cloth as Bhakts and their stupidity here lol. :inti:

Why do you like Damodardas's useless (you can pronounce it as yewsless) son so much? Is it because he generated a stupendous 4.9% economic growth pre-virus? That's nearly one percent per finger on your pudgy little hand!

How much growth will it take for you to stand your ground, desist from being beaten to pulp down under and consider returning home?

This guy is getting desperate now. If traitor has a face...this guy defines it. People of India will teach him another brutal lesson in 2024....just wait.

That tweet makes complete sense, and if it makes you foam at the mouth and lose one night of sleep in 2020 while looking forward to an event in 2024 while being a nobody now, then and in between, more power to him.

Chinese citizens express their frustration over lack of reporting about loses

As Beijing continues to withhold official information about its casualties in the deadly June 15 face-off with India, Chinese citizens are expressing their frustration over the lack of reporting about the losses.

Weibo is China's own Twitter. An analysis of communications happening on the micro-blogging site reveals that the Chinese citizens are mostly sharing Indian images, news articles and videos linked to the Galwan Valley clash.

Neither the Chinese state-controlled media nor the government have gone on the record to explain the bloody event in detail.

Let us look at some of the comments with translations:

Chinese netizens demand transparency when it comes to PLA casualties or injuries. They would rather appreciate India for keeping its public up to speed on the losses.

"India has held a memorial service for the sacrificial soldiers. It shows the high respect and attention of the whole country of India to the soldiers who defend the country and the land," a Chinese Weibo user posted on June 19. "It shows the high degree of solidarity of the Indian nation. What about us? We should learn from India and show respect to our soldiers. Why don’t we openly hold memorial services for the soldiers who died? What? 0 deaths of the PLA? Have the injured been transported? Excuse me?"

One such example of Chinese Netizen:

在中印边界冲突中, 印度死了20军人, 中国死了43人。 印度为烈士们,举办了国葬, 有名有姓, 庄严肃幕, 官方媒体报道和致敬。 但是, 在同一场争斗中国士兵们, 官方不报道, 不公布姓名。没有集体葬礼, 没存尊严, 只有军方派一个军人将死去战士的一个骨灰盒送回士兵的老家,令人烈士父母寒心! pic.twitter.com/uWIxljMXUI
— Jam (@Jam79922967) June 20, 2020

Translation: In the Sino-Indian border conflict, 20 soldiers died in India, and 43 people died in China. India has hosted state funerals for martyrs, famous and surnamed, solemn curtains, official media reports and tributes. However, in the same battle, the Chinese soldiers did not officially report or announce their names. There is no collective funeral, no dignity, only the military sends a soldier to send an ashes box of the dead soldier back to the soldier's home, which makes the martyrs' parents chill.

Rahul has given dumb sanghis another chance to troll him. Of course, that's what our country needs at the moment with so many issues troubling us courtesy their gross incompetence.

https://theprint.in/politics/surend...nst-rahul-gandhi-congress-all-critics/446093/

Nah man.

In fact, I hope BJP trolls him more.

The fact they have to troll him for a typo in freaking Twitter (which everyone of us have experienced) says VOLUMES about them...not Rahul.

Before Modi hit it big, Congis used to attack him 24/7.

Before that, BJP used to attack Sonia 24/7.

Unless attack has substance, it usually works against you.

Considering that over 40% of our electorate has voted for these dumb sanghis basis their senseless rhetoric, what makes you think that these troll attacks will strengthen Rahul and weaken sanghis?

Xi and the bigot have met no less than 18 times during last 6 years, with the latter boasting about his personal ties with Xi on multiple occasions.

Is isn't ironic that he is exhibiting same delusional traits which Pt. Nehru (someone whom sanghis call cause of all our ills) used to show while dealing with Chinese prior to '62 war.

It also proves emphatically that foreign policy and governance isn't something which is done by photo ops and jumlas (and acronyms 😃).

Considering that over 40% of our electorate has voted for these dumb sanghis basis their senseless rhetoric, what makes you think that these troll attacks will strengthen Rahul and weaken sanghis?

Cos no rhetoric (no matter how valuable) can last forever.

Especially when the nation is down in the dumps on every key metric.

Also many voted Modi cos there were no alternatives.

Rahil being pappu worked in 2014.

Rahul being irrelevant worked in 2019.

In 2024 it won't be the same.

Congress has to focus on bringing in a credible PM candidate soon.

And Rahul can continue asking tough questions and the more BJP senselessly attacks him, the more silly they will look.

Every blunder adds up.

Funny to follow this Modi Goudi-Media (goud=lap, meaning media in Modi’s goud), pure entertainment.

Why are Indians fighting over politics, Modi has years left to ruin Indian further.

Indians should be worrying why Chinese are now giving them a good hiding, after Pakistan did earlier in the year.

What hiding? Chinese soldiers died too on 15th June skirmish and as per reports the number of chinese casualties is more than Indian soldiers. But like any communist country, everything happens there happens with a total secrecy. Their govt will never publish actual figures.

Check out my above post where Chinese citizens themselves are asking their govt to officially confirm the no. of deaths

China is very much like N.Korea, a jusche socialist state. Good luck getting any info out of their govt and whistleblowers are regularly punished. But just because they wont admit something does not mean it didnt happen. Remember how N.Korea propaganda lied and made their people believe that their football team actually went onto win the Fifa world cup 2010?

These communist countries are notorious in hiding facts which would embarrass them.

Its only Indians like yourself who are ‘reporting’ 43 Chinese casualties. China isn’t announcing anything because perhaps there is nothing to announce.

Doosri thread per tumharay Desh vasiyo ki issi baat pe already be-ijjati ho chuki hai. Now come up with something new.

The Irony on this post.

Modi is a Hindu extremist , his party members are the cream of extremist Hindus in India. This is a man who believes clouds deter radar, amongst other brain dead comments made by him and his party members. The world laughs at such clowns , yet you want me to believe them now? lol

More Indian troops have been killed, what is known as a hiding in the UK.

You sure?

This is what dailymail.co.uk saying. I know people here loves UK and consider it as holy grail...so might believe it:

China said it suffered 43 casualties, but did not specify whether any of its men had been killed in the grisly hand-to-hand combat in the Galwan Valley, Ladakh.

Awww, so proud of little Rahul, he is maturing into a teenager

Ever since the violent face-off between the Indian and the Chinese army took place last week and resulted in the killing of 20 Indian soldiers, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has been taking jibes at the centre, questioning if Indian land has been occupied by the Chinese.

In his recent post, Gandhi tweeted out a picture of Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh where the stand-off with China began last month. The image was originally captured by former prime minister and his father late Rajiv Gandhi.

“We stand united against the Chinese invasion. Has China occupied Indian land?” Gandhi posted on Tuesday.

This comes a day after Gandhi on Monday said he wanted to know why is China busy praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid tension in bilateral ties and fight over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Galwan region.

“China killed our soldiers. China took our land. Then, why is China praising Mr Modi during this conflict?” Gandhi posted.

On Sunday, Gandhi tweeted out saying, PM “Narendra Modi is actually Surender Modi,” His tweet carried a news report on India’s policy towards China.

Gandhi attacked the prime minister, accusing him of surrendering India’s territory to China. He quoted PM Modi in one of his tweets last week wherein, at the all-party meeting, the prime minister had asserted that Chinese troops did not intrude Indian territory.

Meanwhile, within a week after the violent Ladakh face-off, top military officials from the two sides held a marathon meeting on Monday at Moldo on the Chinese side of the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC) in a bid to ease tensions and thinning military build-up on both sides of the border.

Exactly. And he has problems when some of us are actually posting on topic and about those who are in power ie BJP, Modi. :inti

So bloody funny to see Sanghis frothing to see someone posing tough questions on their acts of omission and commission on the issue of national security. They expect just like their clueless and dumb bhakts, every sane Indian should just roll over and fall in line or else they can simply move to Pakistan.

The situation in India is quite speciall. If you watch the Godi-Media you only see BJP who is questioning Congress. It should be opposite, it's the duty of opposition to ask gov tough questions and the gov should defend their policies rather than going back to 2008 and 2013 and attack the gov at that time.

Actually, there’s a reason why the Line of Actual Control is called the Line of Actual Control: actual being the operative word. It separates the areas in actual control of the Humsaaya Mulk from the areas the Chinese actually control. Once the Chinese actually crossed what once was the Line of Actual Control, they ended up in actual control of areas they hadn’t actually been in control of mere hours ago, resulting in the Line of Actual Control, by definition, shifting, just as the Chinese gained actual control of the territory. This being the case, there really are no Chinese soldiers on areas actually controlled by the Humsaaya Mulk.

It’s quite simple actually.

Romali is so obsessed with Rahul and Rahul is not even our PM yet. :inti
I don't think Romali_rotti can sleep at night unless he dreams of Rahul Gandhi.

#Surender

:91:

Pappu is getting smarter and there's nothing you guys can do about it.

The way most of you walked into the trap of accepting Surender Modi was actually meant to be Surrender Modi, shows deep down you associated Modi with Surrendering
:cobra

The guys working on Rahul Gandhi's team are smarter and more qualified than what Modi has going for him. I started following Rahul online after 2014 thanks to the beating he was being given everywhere. The progress in his intellectual vibes is remarkable and he's getting better and better. I've found him very similar to Imran Khan. They are not naturally gifted in intelligence. But both have the desire to be intellectual.

Problem with Modi is he thinks he knows everything. He doesn't, and neither do his stupid blind followers. He will complete his term and that's where this will all end.

:vk

I follow Indian politics vaguely through Indian friends and I'd be very surprised if Modi isn't elected again(?)

Thats the main difference between a border and a military line like LAC. Modiji is a genius

Exactly. In management speak, this is known as moving the goalposts. In fact, this is better still, because the Chinese moved it for him, which was nice of them.

No, it is actually quite straightforward. A statesman of Modi's calibre undoubtedly understands these nuances, which are lost on his critics. Even the Chinese concur, hence their use of his words verbatim in their official press releases.

Just for you bro, Rahul Gandhi our future leader's congress party and China connection :)

:))), that was such a brutal dig at Imran, I don't think our Pakistani residents understand the insult you laid at their PM.

However Yes I do agree, our little Rahul is getting smarter he is growing into a teenager, in the next 35-40 years he should be matured enough I feel :)

Oh and

:cobra:

Where he mentioned something related to brothel concerning with Rahul. Must say really shameful thing to say and shows one's upbringing, nothing else.

Awww, I am sorry I pinched the nerve of the Congress supporter.. forgive me ? :(...

Future leader? How about you start concentrating on the present leader and leave this rona dhona for the day when Pappu actually becomes PM of the country you ditched long time ago? :inti

NRIs who can't vote can be included among his most rabid fans. He still enjoys massive popularity in India despite record high unemployment rates. But I see this changing by the time the next elections come. I still believe the majority Hindus (which is what matters most in an election) focus on their immediate family needs and daily lives. Emotive issues are big reasons in India, but history has shown Hindus mostly want to live their lives inward-looking and eventually settle down.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday India has shown the world its sense of fraternity during the coronavirus pandemic as well its strength and commitment to protecting its sovereignty and borders as he addressed Mann Ki Baat, his monthly radio programme.

“In Ladakh, a befitting reply has been given those coveting ur territories. India knows how to maintain friendships but it can also look someone in the eye and retaliate and give an apt reply,” PM Modi said during the 66th episode of Mann Ki Baat.

“Our brave soldiers have shown that they will not let any harm be done to Mother India’s pride,” he added.

He was referring to the violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on June 15. Twenty Indian soldiers, including the commanding officer of Bihar Regiment, were killed that day.

The Prime Minister in his last Mann Ki Baat episode on May 31 cautioned that the battle against the coronavirus pandemic is a long one as he warned against complacency and reiterated the need for social distancing and wearing masks.

Modi had also said although every section of the society has been affected by the viral pandemic but the pain felt by the poor cannot be measured in words.

What befitting reply is he talking about? Satellite images clearly show the Chinese have increased their presence in and around PP14 which our soldiers died defending. Its unbelievable how he thinks he can continue to fool the people.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the "age of expansionism" is over, as he paid tribute to soldiers killed in last month's border skirmish with China on a surprise visit to the northern Himalayan region of Ladakh amid escalating tension between the Asian giants.

"Age of expansionism is over, this is the age of development. History is witness that expansionist forces have either lost or were forced to turn back," Modi said without naming China during his first trip to the disputed region since June 15 deadly border clash, in which at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed.

Modi, who has been under pressure to respond to what India deems Chinese incursions, met troops at a base in Ladakh's Nimu area, pictures from Reuters partner ANI showed.

"Your courage is higher than the heights where you are posted today," he said in his address to soldiers in Ladakh.

"The bravery that you and your compatriots showed, a message has gone to the world about India's strength."

Modi was accompanied by the chief of defence staff, General Bipin Rawat, and the chief of the army, General Manoj Mukund Naravane.

India and China have traded blame for triggering the high-altitude brawl in the Galwan Valley on June 15, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed and at least 76 were injured.

The border clash saw soldiers engaged in brutal hand-to-hand fighting with clubs and staves about 4,270 metres (14,000 feet) above sea level amid sub-zero temperatures. It was the worst border skirmish in nearly 50 years.

China has not disclosed how many casualties its troops suffered.

On Friday, it warned India against making a "strategic miscalculation", with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian calling on New Delhi to "work with China to safeguard the overall situation of bilateral relations".

He also criticised Indian officials for making what he called irresponsible remarks.

"India should not make a strategic miscalculation on China," Zhao told reporters at a daily briefing.

The nuclear-armed neighbours have amassed troops along the 3,500km (2,200 mile) long border, most of which is not demarcated, and military and diplomatic talks are going on to de-escalate the confrontation.

India claims 38,000sq km (15,000sq miles) of land currently under Chinese control while Beijing stakes claim to 90,000sq km (34,700sq miles) area within Indian territory.

Analysts say the current standoff at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is a result of Chinese pushback against India's building of military infrastructure at the de facto border in recent years.

Another reason, according to some experts, is linked to India's unilateral move last year to repeal Article 370 of the Indian constitution, which had guaranteed a measure of autonomy to Indian-administered Kashmir, which also included the disputed areas of Ladakh region.

China, which, like Pakistan, saw India's move as unilaterally affecting its territory, strongly denounced the move at the United Nations Security Council last year.

India buys fighter jets

Meanwhile, India's Ministry of Defence on Thursday approved the purchase of 21 Russian MiG-29 and 12 Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft costing $2.43bn to augment its air force in the wake of the border standoff with China.

India is also awaiting the arrival of the first batch of 36 Rafale fighter jets ordered as part of a $8.78bn deal signed with France in 2016.

Last week, India banned 59, mostly Chinese, mobile phone applications in retaliation to the killing of its soldiers that has caused an anti-Chinese backlash.

China said on Friday that artificial blocks to bilateral cooperation would harm India's interests and that the two countries should work together to uphold peace in their border region.

Beijing will take necessary measures to uphold the rights of Chinese businesses in India, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Zhao Lijian told a news briefing.

India-China annual bilateral trade stands at $92bn.

The Indian Army on Saturday dubbed the reports of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to ‘fake’ hospital in Leh as ‘malicious, unsubstantiated’. The clarification from the army comes after various social media posts claimed that the prime minister had staged the visit to a fake hospital where soldiers injured in Galwan clash were being treated.

“There have been malicious and unsubstantiated accusations in some quarters regarding the status of the facility visited by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to the General Hospital at Leh on July 03, 2020,” read the statement by army posted by Ministry of Defence a day after the PM’s visit.

“It is unfortunate that aspersions are being cast on how our brave Armed Forces are treated. The Armed Forces give the best possible treatment to their personnel. It is clarified that the said facility is part of the Crisis Expansion capacity of 100 beds and is very much part of the General Hospital complex,” the defence ministry clarified.

It further said that the Covid-19 protocol had necessitated some wards of the General Hospital to be converted into isolation facilities. “Hence, this hall which otherwise was normally used as a Training Audio Video Hall was converted into a ward ever since the hospital was also designated as COVID treatment hospital,” the statement read.

“The injured braves have been kept there since their arrival from Galwan to ensure quarantine from Covid areas. The Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane and the Army Commander have also visited the injured braves in the same location,” the army’s statement clarified.

Soon after the prime minister paid a visit to a hospital in Leh, social media posts raised questions about the veracity of the visit. Several questioned the absence of medical staff and equipment in the hospital premises.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity is increasing not just in India but also abroad as well. Even in China, a large number of people are his fans. Three months after the Ladakh violence, a survey conducted by China's mouthpiece Global Times, a mouthpiece of the Chinese government, has revealed that most of the Chinese are happier with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government than their own leaders.

I agree. China is no match for India and Modi. I don't believe there is a braver leader in the world than Modi. How he just nonchalantly visited the LAC after killing of the soldiers shows what a warrior he is. If I'm ever called to a holy war, Modi is the guy I would want on my side and not the other.

But considering the source is TimesNow, I would pass this time.

At an altitude of almost 15,000ft, the residents of Chushul village make their way across the bleak and unforgiving territory of the Indian state of Ladakh.

With unwieldy and overstuffed duffel bags, rice sacks, heavy fuel cans and bamboo canes strapped to their backs, they trudge upwards to a Himalayan mountain peak known as Black Top, where hundreds of Indian army tents are stationed on the horizon.

The 100-odd men, women and young boys are not making this arduous journey out of kindness. In the coming winter months, temperatures here will drop to –40C. The villagers fear that if they do not help the Indian army secure their positions along the mountain ridges bordering China – and help prepare the troops for the harsh winter ahead – their village might soon be under Chinese control.

“We want to help the Indian army to secure their positions immediately,” said Tsering, a 28-year-old volunteer from Chushul. “We are carrying supplies to them, doing multiple rounds in a day, to ensure that the army doesn’t face too many problems.”

Chushal, a hamlet of around 150 households, is one of the closest habitations to India’s disputed border with China in eastern Ladakh. Since May, Indian and Chinese troops have been engaged in an increasingly aggressive dispute over their poorly demarcated Himalayan boundary, known as the line of actual control (LAC).

In June, the situation escalated into a violent, high-altitude clash in which 20 Indian soldiers, and an unknown number of Chinese soldiers, were killed in a hand-to-hand battle between the two sides, the worst loss of life on the border for more than four decades.

On 29 August, just a few miles from Chushul, another face-off broke out between India and China troops. There were no casualties that night, but shots were fired by troops on the border for the first time in 45 years.

At a meeting in Moscow last week, the defence ministers of India and China released a joint statement agreeing to “disengage as soon as possible” along their border. It followed at least five rounds of high-level military negotiations that have gone nowhere, with both sides continuing to insist the other is violating sovereign territory.

But, according to the villagers, there is little evidence of disengagement on the ground. Over the past week, Indian troops have continued to build up along the border. A convoy of Indian army vehicles has continued to bring supplies and ammunition to troops camped in posts along the border, and around 100 diggers have been brought in for the construction of roads and buildings, to further secure India’s position along the border.

“It’s very clear that both sides are planning to stay there for winter; they seem to be anticipating that there will be no diplomatic outcome,” said Manoj Joshi, a security expert at the Observer Research Foundation.

“The reality is that China does not want to settle this because it is a convenient way to keep India unsettled and weakened, by entangling them in an expensive military operation along the Himalayan border that is far beyond their means.”

This week, the villagers of Chushul have continued their non-stop efforts to bring supplies to the troops on Black Top. There is no road access to the mountain ridges that have become the new frontline. They spoke of their worries about the coming five months when the whole area becomes almost completely cut off by snow, ice and lethal avalanches.

“The area where the recent face-off took place is yet to have a road, let alone the infrastructure,” said Tsering. “How long will the army keep supplies going like this?”

She was echoed by Konchak Tsepel, another villager. “The new places where China has engaged the Indian army don’t have proper living conditions. The army is being put up in tents. I don’t know how they are going to build infrastructure good enough to live, when there is no road.”

Experts says India had not been prepared for a drawn-out battle along its mountain border, which shows no sign of easing off. It now has just a few weeks to make sure the four divisions currently deployed in Ladakh, numbering around 40,000 troops, are prepared to hold their positions against China over winter.

The Indian military has been spending billions on defence along its China border, including a $400m new tunnel into the mountains in Himachal Pradesh, but maintaining the tens of thousands of troops in this high-altitude desert is a complex and costly task. The region doesn’t have proper communication channels and electricity hasn’t yet reached many villages. Meanwhile, China’s defence budget is three times the size of India’s.

Tashi Chhepal, 60, a retired Indian army captain who has served in the region for more than three decades, described how over the winter, “at some posts our contact with the outside world would get cut off for even five months at a time”.

He said: “Everything would freeze like a rock and we would stock supplies for the entire winter. For those months we would rely on tin-packed food. The connectivity is still as bad. Nothing much has changed in years.”

Pravin Sawhney, a former Indian army officer, said India had been taken by “complete surprise” with China’s recent aggressions along the border and were now on the back foot. “China is far superior,” added Sawhney. “They have got the fibre optic internet right to the edge of the battle space.”

An Indian army major general, Amrit Pal Singh, the former chief of operational logistics of the Leh region, said the logistics of moving troops and supplies to the area as winter sets in was a challenge unlike any other for the Indian military. “This is the most isolated battlefield in the world,” he said.

Reports suggest these new deployments, likely permanent now that the Chinese won’t leave, will cost the Humsaaya Mulk a 100 crore rupees everyday. Not that that is too much of a concern because such a paltry amount is chump change for a superpower.

Police arrested a local journalist alleging spying for China
By Reuters Staff

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Police in India’s capital city on Saturday said they had arrested a local freelance journalist on allegations he was passing “sensitive information” to Chinese intelligence officers.

In a statement, the Delhi Police said 61-year-old Rajeev Sharma was arrested earlier this week and officers had seized some confidential documents related to the Indian defence department from the journalist’s residence.

One Chinese woman and her Nepalese partner were also arrested for allegedly supplying Sharma with “huge amounts of money” for “conveying information to Chinese intelligence”.

The Chinese foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.

Reuters could not immediately reach any of the three individuals, who are under arrest, or their lawyers.

“On interrogation, Rajeev Sharma has disclosed his involvement in procurement of secret/sensitive information and further conveying the same to his Chinese handlers,” Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said in the statement.

The arrest comes amid heightened tensions between India and China at their border in the Himalayan region. The relationship between the neighbours has worsened since a clash in June that India says of 20 of its troops were killed.

China suffered “far fewer” than the 20 deaths incurred by India’s military in the clash, according to a tweet this week by the editor-in-chief of the Global Times, which is published by the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of China’s ruling Communist Party.

The police said Sharma was tasked with providing information on India-China boundary issues and other matters in recent years.

It added that between January 2019 and September 2020, Sharma received more than 3 million Indian rupees ($40,799.67) from one of his handlers.

India has in recent months banned several Chinese apps and made it tougher for Chinese companies to make investments.
