Serial bottlers, couldn't even bring out their annual win over City this time.

They were poor defensively today. In the second half they just laid back.

Kulusevski is one of the positives from this team. Most people don't realise but Kane is actually having a really good season. 15 Goals and 1 Assist in 20 EPL Games is world class, it is just being overshadowed by Haaland's Freak Tally.

Its not looking good for Spurs at all

All is not well at Spurs.

About 60 Tottenham fans held a protest against club owners ENIC and chairman Daniel Levy at the training ground in Enfield on Saturday.

Spurs are yet to make a signing in the winter transfer window and have been struggling with their form this season.

A 2-0 home defeat by north London rivals and Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday, was followed by a 4-2 loss at Manchester City on Thursday.

The supporters told BBC Sport they were protesting over a lack of investment in the football side and claimed there was no communication between the board and the fans.

On Tuesday, Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust reiterated its calls for the board to outline the strategy and vision for the club, calling for "clarity and commitment".

Spurs, who moved into their £1bn stadium in 2019, spent 169m euros (£148m) on new players in the summer, according to Transfermarkt, on new players, including £60m deal for Brazil forward Richarlison.

Good win for Spurs 1 - 0 vs Fulham Away.

Defense was better, but very few chances were made.

Kane really is having a brilliant season, he has scored 16 goals in 21 Games from scraps.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Netherlands forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old becomes Spurs' first signing of the January transfer window.

He had been expected to sign for Everton but Tottenham made a late move.

Danjuma played for Bournemouth from 2019 to 2021, scoring 17 goals in 52 appearances before moving to the La Liga club.

Two excellent strikes by Son Heung-min and a debut goal for Arnaut Danjuma were enough to beat Preston (3-0) and send Tottenham through in the FA Cup.

Spurs were frustrated by their Championship opponents until the 50th minute, when Son let fly from 30 yards.

The South Korea international then turned and finished smartly to double the lead amid torrential rain.

Danjuma, signed on loan from Villarreal this week, completed the scoring after coming on as a late substitute.

Antonio Conte's side go into the draw for the fifth round, which takes place on Monday evening.

Danjuma is a good signing, but they already have Richarlison who doesn't even play many minutes.

Sporting Lisbon full-back Pedro Porro is in London for a medical before a 45m euro (£39.5m) move to Tottenham.

Porro, who can also play as a wing-back, has three goals and 11 assists in 25 games for Sporting this season.

The 23-year-old Spain international, who has been linked with Spurs throughout the transfer window, was previously at Manchester City, though he did not play for the first team.

Porro joined Sporting from City for £7m last summer after two years on loan.

Tottenham defender Matt Doherty is set to join Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of the season with no option or obligation to buy.

The 31-year-old has made 16 appearances for Spurs this season.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte has preferred Emerson Royal at right-back with the London club also close to signing Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

The deal could depend on Atletico defender Felipe's expected move to Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham transfer news: Pedro Porro joins Spurs from Sporting Lisbon

Tottenham have signed full-back Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy for 45m euros (£40m).

The 23-year-old Spain international joined Sporting in August 2020 on a two-year loan deal, which became permanent last summer.

He was previously at Manchester City, but did not play for the first team.

Porro's arrival coincides with Spurs ending the contract of Matt Doherty, who has joined Atletico Madrid.

Fellow defender Djed Spence has also left Spurs, signing for French side Rennes on loan for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old has struggled for first-team football since signing from Middlesbrough in the summer for £20m. The deal does not include an option to make the move permanent.

Porro, meanwhile, will wear the number 23 shirt for Tottenham.

Signed by Manchester City from Girona for £11m in August 2019, he subsequently had loan spells at Real Valladolid and Sporting before joining the Portuguese club for £7.2m.

He has made one international appearance - in a 2-1 away win over Georgia in a World Cup qualifying tie in March 2021.

Jack Pitt-Brooke, a journalist from The Athletic, told BBC Radio 5 Live Porro was a player Spurs manager Antonio Conte "desperately wanted".

"This is a really big deal for Spurs and maybe one that could improve the mood of the team going into the second half of the season," he added.

"Spurs have been crying out for a top-level right wing-back ever since Conte arrived in 2021 and, frankly, none of Emerson Royal, Djed Spence and Matt Doherty were quite good enough.

"Porro will be a huge lift to the team because he is so much better than what they have got in that position."

Tottenham's board has rejected claims by the club's Supporters' Trust that it has not invested enough in the team.

The Trust wrote to the board last month highlighting concerns in a number of areas, including recruitment.

In its reply, the board said more than £500m had been spent on players since the club's new stadium opened in 2019.

"It's important that we deal with facts - our spend levels quite clearly show that we have backed our football side," read the letter.

"The club has invested heavily in the squad. This is a continual process with the aim of standing the club in good stead on the pitch for years to come."

The Supporters' Trust listed four main areas of concern including the medium and long-term strategy for success, manager Antonio Conte's contract situation, recent player recruitment and future investment, adding these issues had been "exacerbated by a lack of communication" with fans.

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte misses today's game because he is recovering in Italy from emergency surgery to remove his gallblader.

Assistant Cristian Stellini takes charge.

"Immediately when he was recovered enough, he called me and started talking about training and the next game," said Stellini. "Last week, he had a problem, we thought it would heal and not that it was a problem like this.

"He was so sad about this but it was not difficult surgery and the most important thing was that it went well."

Harry Kane became Tottenham's all-time record scorer, surpassing the great Jimmy Greaves, as his 267th goal for the club dented Manchester City's title ambitions at a raucous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England captain reached the landmark with a composed finish from 10 yards out after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did exceptionally well to find Kane inside the box.

Fans jumped from their seats to applaud the 29-year-old striker, whose first Spurs goal came on 15 December 2011, while a message flashed up on the scoreboard inside the ground which read 'Congratulations Harry Kane'.

The 15th-minute finish was also Kane's 200th on the Premier League stage - only Alan Shearer (260 goals) and Wayne Rooney (208) have scored more.

It came against the run of the play and with Spurs boss Antonio Conte recovering at home after surgery to remove his gallbladder.

Tottenham, who finished with 10 men after defender Cristian Romero was sent off in the 87th minute for two bookable offences, dug deep in their Italian manager's absence to frustrate City.

Pep Guardiola's side missed the chance to cut Arsenal's five-point lead at the top of the table following the Gunners' defeat at Everton on Saturday.

Riyad Mahrez went closest to equalising with an attempt which cannoned off the underside of the bar, but City are without a point - and a goal - in five visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While they remain five points behind Arsenal having played one game more, Tottenham's victory moves them one point behind fourth-placed Newcastle.

Brilliant victory vs Man City!

Spurs were much better today, the press was brilliant.

Good performance that today against Man City.

They were up for it and always looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

Excellent 3 points and now only 1 point behind 4th placed Newcastle.

Tottenham goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks with a knee injury.

The former France skipper, 36, sustained ligament damage in Spurs' 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs have former Southampton and England international Fraser Forster as back up.

Academy players Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman are other options, but neither have much senior experience.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League and fighting for a Champions League spot for next season.

They play Leicester City in the league on Saturday before travelling to AC Milan for their first-leg round of 16 tie in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Forster, who joined on a free transfer last summer, has made just one Premier League appearance for Spurs - a 2-2 Boxing Day draw with Brentford.

Well Lloris has a whole history of giving away free goals for the opposition, but he still has put in some great goalkeeping performances this season. I saw Fraser Forster against Brentford, and he made multiple clumsy mistakes, hopefully its not too bad though.

Tottenham had appeared to turn a corner after a team meeting following their 4-2 loss at Manchester City a month ago.

Wins over Fulham, Preston and champions City came afterwards.

Conte missed that City win as he recovered in Italy and he probably wishes he was still at home after witnessing this capitulation up close.

First-choice keeper Hugo Lloris missed the first of many games here, with the club captain ruled out for at least six weeks with a knee injury.

Veteran Forster started in goal, only his second league game since joining Spurs in the summer.

It was all looking so good when Bentancur scored - although they had to wait two minutes to celebrate after a long VAR check for offside.

But that was one of just four shots on target all afternoon.

Harry Kane, their all-time top scorer, had to wait until the 90th minute for his only shot of the game. Son Heung-min, who scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture, only had one effort himself.

Pedro Porro, their new signing at right-back, had a disappointing debut as he struggled with Barnes' pace.

Bentancur added to an already long injury list when he was hurt in a collision with Mendy and needed oxygen - although he was able to walk off with help instead of needing the stretcher which had been sent on.

Good old Spurs.

Just when you think they are on a good run, they mess things up.

Awful performance from them today.

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will reportedly be out for ‘at least six months’ after suffering a knee injury in Saturday’s loss to Leicester City.

Antonio Conte’s side were demolished 4-1 by the Foxes on Saturday afternoon, less than a week on from their 1-0 win against Manchester City.

To rub salt in the wounds, Bentancur was forced off after a collision with Leicester midfielder Nampalys Mendy.

The Uruguayan required a stretcher after requiring oxygen.

He did manage to limp down the tunnel after leaving the field of play, however.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham learned on Sunday that Bentancur suffered torn knee ligaments.

He will miss ‘at least six months’ as a result, meaning his season is over.

The 25-year-old may also miss the beginning of 2023-24 due to the lengthy rehabilitation process.

Tottenham have declined to comment about reports that billionaire Jahm Najafi is set to launch a £3.1bn takeover of the club.

Iranian-American Najafi is chair of sports investment company MSP Sports Capital.

The Financial Times reports he is working with a consortium of investors to put together a bid for Spurs.

It added Najafi was weeks away from approaching Tottenham owner Joe Lewis and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Najafi is a minority shareholder in NBA team Phoenix Suns.

Tottenham, who lost the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie 1-0 in AC Milan on Tuesday, are fifth in the Premier League.

They play at the state of the art 63,000-seat Tottenham Hotspur stadium, which cost £1bn to build and hosted its first Premier League game in April 2019.

Tottenham's disappointing week continues

Tottenham had been looking to send a message of immediate improvement after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship promotion chasers Sheffield United on Wednesday.

They took the game to the hosts early on and Dejan Kulusevski's curling effort forced Jose Sa into a good save but despite playing with a high intensity, only six of their 21 shots hit the target.

In what was assistant head coach Cristian Stellini's final game in charge before Antonio Conte's return from gall bladder surgery, there were familiar inconsistencies.

Tottenham are four points ahead of fifth-place Newcastle United, who were beaten by Manchester City on Saturday but have two games in hand.

Spurs fail to score in 180 minutes against the 5th-placed Serie A side AC Milan and crash out of the Champions League, while being booed off the pitch.

A toxic atmosphere right now around Spurs

Richarlison: “I'm honest, this season has been ****. I want to play”, tells TNT Sport.

“I didn't understand [Conte’s choices]. I was in positive moment… and Conte put me on the bench again. Yesterday he tested me in the starting XI and then... bench, again”.

Richarlison: “I'm honest, this season has been ****. I want to play”, tells TNT Sport.

“I didn't understand [Conte’s choices]. I was in positive moment… and Conte put me on the bench again. Yesterday he tested me in the starting XI and then... bench, again”.

Richarlison was "selfish" and "made a mistake" in an interview following Tottenham's Champions League exit, says manager Antonio Conte.

The 25-year-old forward appeared to criticise Conte over his lack of playing time this season in an interview with Brazilian TV after Wednesday's last-16 defeat by AC Milan.

But while Conte believes Richarlison did not criticise him, he agrees that his season "has been not good".

Dominant Spurs back to winning ways

Speculation over Conte's future intensified following Wednesday's Champions League exit - which came after back-to-back 1-0 defeats by Wolves and Sheffield United in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively.

The Italian made three changes to the team that drew with the Serie A side - the most notable being a recall for Richarlison, who was called "selfish" by Conte following an interview with Brazilian TV in the aftermath of that stalemate.

The former Everton frontman repaid his manager's faith with an influential display but was denied his first league goal for Spurs by the video assistant referee, who ruled that he had strayed marginally offside from Oliver Skipp's pass.

The home supporters did not have to wait long for a breakthrough, though, as Kane laid the foundation for a routine victory with a clinical first-half double.

Kane is only the third player in Premier League history - after Sergio Aguero and Alan Shearer - to hit 20 top-flight goals in six separate seasons.

The visitors improved after the restart, but Son's composed finish following more fine work from Richarlison left them with too big a mountain to climb.

Victory at Southampton next Saturday would lift Conte's team nine points clear of Liverpool, whose next Premier League game is at Manchester City in three weeks' time, after the international break.

Poll added on the future of Conte.

Finished above Arsenal but have lagged far behind them this season. Is the team improving under his leadership? Can he stay on after all the things he's said about his players and the ownership?

Antonio Conte outburst: Tottenham to decide head coach's future in next 48 hours

A decision on Antonio Conte's Tottenham future is set to be made in the next 48 hours.

There is a growing sense that it will be difficult for Conte to continue as Tottenham head coach following his outburst after Saturday's 3-3 draw at Southampton.

Conte did not speak out on Saturday because he wants Tottenham to sack him. Instead, his comments reflect what he has felt for a long time, and he did not intend to attack the players or the board.

The Italian's contract is up at the end of this season, but there is a sense he could depart the club much sooner.

Conte is at home in Italy for a few days during the international break.

Conte has always prided himself on quickly building a winning mentality wherever he has worked, and he is very disappointed that he has not been able to do this at Spurs.

He believes some players are happy to stay in their comfort zone and settle for mediocrity, no matter who is the coach. He also believes if the culture at a club is not right then the club is never going to be successful.

Last season Tottenham finished strongly to overtake Arsenal and this season was supposed to be one where they built on that. That has not happened, and instead, Arsenal players have learned and developed, whereas Spurs have settled for mediocrity.

Arsenal bounced back from last season's disappointing end with hunger and ambition, signing players with a winning mentality to improve their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur managing director Fabio Paratici may have to step away from his role after Fifa extended his ban in Italy worldwide.

Paratici was given a 30-month ban in January after his former club Juventus were found guilty of false accounting.

The 50-year-old was sporting director and managing director at Juventus before joining Tottenham in June 2021.

Paratici and Juventus have both appealed against the decision.

Paratici's initial ban only applied to Italian football, meaning he was able to continue working at Tottenham.

The extension of the ban coincides with Tottenham's search for a new manager following the departure of Antonio Conte.

Conte left Spurs on Sunday with the club fourth in the Premier League but having been knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in recent weeks.

Paratici told the club website on Tuesday he and the club were "focused" on moving forward and finding a replacement.

"Fifa can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of Fifa disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect," a statement from the world's governing body read.

The entire board of the Serie A club, including president Andrea Agnelli and vice-president Pavel Nedved, resigned in November as a police investigation into the club's transfer activity continued.

Juventus were subsequently docked 15 points by the FIGC in January. The Serie A club were accused of fixing their balance sheets by artificial gains from club transfers.

Everton 1-1 Tottenham: Spurs 'have to do much better', says boss Cristian Stellini

Tottenham have do to "much better" to control games after conceding a late equaliser at Everton, says interim manager Cristian Stellini.

Spurs went 1-0 up through Harry Kane's penalty 10 minutes after Everton's Abdoulaye Doucoure had been sent off.

But they failed to win following Michael Keane's stunning equaliser in the 90th minute, which came after Spurs substitute Lucas Moura's dismissal.

Stellini said the team's personality is something "we have to improve".

The Italian was taking charge of Tottenham's first match since manager Antonio Conte left the club by mutual contest last month.

Kane struck home a penalty on 68 minutes, shortly after the England captain was pushed in the face by Doucoure, but the visitors were unable to hang on.

They struggled to create clear-cut chances for much of the game, allowing Keane to salvage a point at the other end of the pitch minutes after Moura's red card for a poor challenge on the Everton defender.

"We didn't lead the game with the ball after the red card," said Stellini. "We had the chance to control the game better than we did and you have to do it with the ball, You have one extra player, you have to move the ball side by side but sometimes we were rushing.

"We were frantic and we have to improve in this aspect. It is a long process, we don't change in one night.

"We played a good match, started the game well in the first half but against this type of team they are very direct and you have to be strong. With the ball you have to find the right solution.

"We arrived well around the box but after this you have to find a way to score. The approach and plan was good, but at 1-0 up and with an extra player, you have to be more lucid with the ball."

Another terrible performance today against Bournemouth.

Fans turning on players too:

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has slammed Spurs supporters for their shocking treatment of Davinson Sanchez during defeat against Bournemouth.

Davinson Sanchez did not start the game but was brought on in the first half to replace Clement Lenglet who went off injured.

Spurs ended up conceding twice after he came on with him being responsible for some poor defending for the second goal.

Tottenham supporters were heard booing Sanchez at his every touch after that which perhaps forced manager Cristian Stellini to take him off and replace him with Arnaut Danjuma. And there was a loud cheer when he was taken off.

And Spurs captain Hugo Lloris was having none of it. He expressed his shock at the fans’ behaviour claiming that he has “never seen this” in his entire career.

He told BeinSports (quotes via Daily Mail) after the game:

‘It started earlier, it’s when he came on the pitch.’

‘I’ve never seen this in my career. I feel really bad for Davinson. He’s a team-mate, he’s a friend and he’s been fighting for the club for many many years now, and it’s just sad.

‘The story is sad for the club, for the fans, for the player. It’s something you don’t want to see in football.’

Manager Cristian Stellini also backed Sanchez claiming that he will have no hesitation starting the 26-year-old again. He also revealed that taking him off was a tactical decision.

He said:

“Davinson has to know it was only a tactical decision (to take him off) but we need to support him because it’s a tough moment for him and also for all the team.

“We have to create unity in our dressing room and in between us, and we will do.”

Tottenham have announced that Fabio Paratici (Fabio Paratici has resigned as Tottenham’s managing director of football) has resigned from his role at the club.

The Italian has been unsuccessful with his appeal against the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after being hit with a worldwide ban from FIFA.

Paratici has made the decision to leave Tottenham

Earlier in the year, Paratici was found guilty of alleged financial malpractice during his time at Juventus.

FT: Newcastle 6-1 Tottenham

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris speaking to Sky Sports: "It’s very embarrassing. We should apologise to the fans. We didn’t show a good face and we could not match the performance of the Newcastle players. We were late in all aspects of the game and we completely missed the first part of the game. The second half is a different story but it’s really painful.

“It is not even about tactics, we just could not fight and we were late. I think Newcastle just had a great performance, they were very aggressive and offensive everywhere they had the ball.

"It is difficult right now to assess the performances but there was a lack of pride. You can get punched once or twice, but it was like we could not even react or bounce back. Newcastle deserve a lot of credit for starting the game at 100 miles per hour. They knew exactly what to do."

Conte must be laughing his socks off.

What a shambles they were today.

Too many players at the club who think they are better than what they are.

Take Kane out of this team and they'd be a mid-table side.

Tottenham in crisis as Daniel Levy tipped to depart club after Newcastle hammering

Tottenham endured an awful Sunday afternoon on Tyneside as they were beaten 6-1 by Newcastle which saw their hopes of securing Champions League qualification take a significant blow. Not only would Spurs now have to overturn a six-point deficit to both the Magpies and Manchester United, but the setback came about in highly embarrassing fashion.

No further misery was piled onto Cristian Stellini and his players but the result and performance was a disastrous one that comes just days before another key clash. On Wednesday evening, Spurs welcome Manchester United to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where anything but a victory would likely spell the end of any remaining top-four hope.

The summer is now absolutely huge for the Lilywhites for a number of reasons. A permanent manager still needs to be instilled and the chance of star striker Kane leaving seems to only increase with every passing week and poor display.

Other key departures have also not been ruled out as Betfair have opened 'Tottenham crisis odds' with a number of markets. The marquee stakes include odds for possible departures of chairman Daniel Levy, Kane and Son Heung-Min.

Levy not being at the club for the first game of the 2023/24 season is at 7/4, while for both Son and Kane to leave before September 4 is at 11/2. Other markets include Spurs losing all of their next three away games against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leeds which stands at 11/1, while no wins in their final six fixtures is placed at 14/1.

Within 61 seconds the visitors were behind after Jacob Murphy was the first to react to Joelinton's close-range effort. The Brazilian also got in on the act moments later with Murphy adding his second before the contest had even reached the 10-minute mark.

Alexander Isak then scored twice in the space of two minutes to put Newcastle five in front after 21 minutes. Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs in the second half, but Callum Wilson added goal number six with still over 20 minutes to play.

Interim manager Cristian Stellini has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur after four matches in charge.

The decision comes a day after Spurs were thrashed 6-1 at Newcastle - a performance chairman Daniel Levy has described as "wholly unacceptable".

Stellini, 48, was appointed on 26 March after Antonio Conte's 16-month spell as Spurs boss came to an end.

Ryan Mason, who worked under Stellini and took charge when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2021, succeeds him.

Sunday's defeat at Newcastle, where they trailed 5-0 after 21 minutes, was a significant blow to Spurs' hopes of securing Champions League qualification.

"It was devastating to see," added Levy.

"We can look at many reasons why it happened and while myself, the board, the coaches and players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine."

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table, six points behind both Newcastle in third and Manchester United in fourth.

Both teams have played fewer games than Spurs, who host Erik ten Hag's side on Thursday.

Spurs won one, drew one and lost two games after appointing Stellini, who acted as Conte's assistant during his time as manager.

Stellini also led the side when Conte was missing from the touchline after a gall bladder operation in February, with Spurs winning three of their four Premier League games in Conte's absence, but also losing to Championship side Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

"Cristian stepped in at a difficult point in our season and I want to thank him for the professional manner in which he and his coaching staff have conducted themselves during such a challenging time," said Levy.

Former Spurs and England midfielder Mason, 31, returns to the helm for the final six games of the season.

"Ryan knows the club and the players well," added Levy.

How it 'went so badly' under Stellini

Stellini apologised for the defeat at Newcastle, saying the performance was "unexpected".

He changed the system to a back four for the first time this season but returned to three centre-backs after 23 minutes when he substituted midfielder Pape Sarr with Davinson Sanchez.

The thrashing was Spurs' heaviest Premier League defeat since December 2013, when they lost 5-0 to Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

"It went so badly because we were not prepared enough to play an important match," Stellini told Sky Sports.

"We have a good squad but today no-one showed how good we are. It was my responsibility to decide how we play and we decided to do it differently because of the injuries. It is my responsibility, I took it and it was wrong.

"I have to take responsibility because once we changed system we played better, scored and showed fight. It's very difficult to understand why the first 25 minutes were so bad."

Stellini's tactical decisions had drawn the ire of Spurs fans during his brief tenure, particularly when Sanchez was brought on as a substitute in the 35th minute during the 3-2 defeat against Bournemouth and then booed when he was taken off in the 58th minute.

Spurs are searching for their fourth permanent manager in four years since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

Questions over the playing style have persisted under Stellini, with Spurs conceding nine goals across their last two league matches, the most they've conceded in consecutive league games since May 2003.

Tottenham's players will pay for fans' match tickets after the 6-1 drubbing at Newcastle.

"As a squad, we understand your frustration, your anger, it wasn't good enough," they said in a post on the club's Twitter account.

"We know words aren't enough in a situation like this, but believe us, a defeat like this hurts.

"We appreciate your support, home and away, and with this in mind we would like to reimburse fans with the cost of their match tickets from St James's Park.

"We know this does not change what happened on Sunday and we will give everything to put things right against Manchester United on Thursday evening, when again your support will mean everything to u.

"Together - and only together - can we move things forward."

Tottenham 2-2 Man Utd: Son Heung-min says fightback was driven by 'anger'

Tottenham's fightback against Manchester United was driven by "anger" after last weekend's "unacceptable" defeat, says forward Son Heung-min.

Tottenham lost their previous game 6-1 at Newcastle and trailed 2-0 on Thursday before pegging United back.

Pedro Porro's goal gave Spurs hope before Son completed the recovery with a 79th-minute equaliser.

"We wanted to give everything and that was the dressing room speech," said Son.

The draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Ryan Mason's first game back as interim manager was enough to lift Spurs above Liverpool and Aston Villa into fifth spot.

They sit six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with five games left.

Tottenham target Xabi Alonso as search for new manager continues

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has emerged as a target for Tottenham as they search for a new permanent manager.

Sky Sports News understands key figures at Spurs admire the former Liverpool midfielder, who took over at Bayer Leverkusen in October.

In that time he has led the German club from relegation contenders to sixth in the Bundesliga and the semi-finals of the Europa League where they will face Jose Mourinho's Roma.

Spurs are also impressed by Vincent Kompany, who has guided Burnley back into the Premier League as Championship winners this season.

Meanwhile, former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, is another key name under discussion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and remains in the running for the job.

Spurs have yet to appoint a permanent successor to Antonio Conte, who left in March after a difficult end to his time in North London. Interim boss Cristian Stellini has already been and gone, with Ryan Mason now in a second spell in caretaker charge.

He will remain in charge at Spurs until the summer.

A run of four games without a win has seen Spurs' hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League slip away.

They sit sixth in the table, two points behind Liverpool in fifth having played a game more and seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand on the north London club.

They also face a battle to qualify for either the Europa League or the Europa Conference League with Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford still with hopes of securing European football.

Julian Nagelsmann: Tottenham held talks with ex-Bayern Munich boss in last few days - Sky in Germany

Tottenham have held talks with Julian Nagelsmann in the last few days over their managerial vacancy, according to Sky in Germany.

The former Bayern Munich boss is interested in the job but no agreement or commitments have been made at this stage.

Bayern, meanwhile, are still demanding a transfer fee if Nagelsmann is to move.

Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg understands Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is "pushing more" for Nagelsmann, who wants to know exactly how much power he would get in transfers if he was to become head coach.

Plettenberg also believes more talks will follow, while it is understood the German wants to take his time before making a final decision.

It is still unclear who will be the new managing director of football at Tottenham after Fabio Paratici resigned last month.

Sky Sports News has been told Johannes Spors is one of a number of sporting directors the north London club are looking at.

Spors is a global sporting director for a number of clubs, including Genoa, Standard Liege and Melbourne Victory.

Hugo Lloris might have already played the last Tottenham match of his career as it was confirmed he was out for the rest of the season.

The Frenchman has been injured and has missed the last two matches against Manchester United and Liverpool.

Spurs, who are sixth in the Premier League, have been without a permanent manager since Antonio Conte was sacked in March.

Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann will not be the next manager of Tottenham, BBC Sport understands.

Spurs, who are sixth in the Premier League, have been without a permanent manager since Antonio Conte was sacked in March.

Nagelsmann, 35, who was sacked by Bundesliga champions Bayern in March, has been linked with the vacancy.

However, there have been no talks and Spurs are not considering him for the role.

Spurs continue to search for a permanent replacement for Conte after interim manager Cristian Stellini was sacked in April and replaced by Ryan Mason.

According to journalist Guillem Balague, Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi has been approached by Tottenham and some reports linked Burnley manager and former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany with the vacant role.

Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern on 24 March after a run of five wins from 10 league games, has also been linked with Chelsea, who remain without a permanent manager since Graham Potter was sacked in April.

Nagelsmann is recognised as one of the game's most promising managerial talents, having taking charge of Hoffenheim aged 28 before moving to RB Lepizig, leading the club to the Champions League semi-finals.

He then joined Bayern in 2021 and won the league title in his first season alongside two German Supercups.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel replaced Nagelsmann as Bayern manager.

Speaking on Radio 5 Live's Friday Football Social, former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson said: "Tottenham need to act and they need to act quickly. Why wouldn't they be interested in Nagelsmann? He is one of the most innovative, modern-thinking, modern-day coaches.

"If Spurs aren't in the hunt for a manager like that it is worrying. I potentially think they have sounded his people out and they have gone 'no, don't waste your time'."

Former West Ham and Aston Villa captain Nigel Reo Coker added: "I think Nagelsmann has looked at this Tottenham situation and said it is not for me. I am too good, too focused, I want to be part of that greatness and Spurs doesn't shout greatness right now.

"You have to think of a manager of his stature, do we even know what is happening with Harry Kane right now? For all the top teams we know how important it is to have a top-class striker. If he loses Harry Kane, who fills in those boots at Spurs?"

BREAKING: Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has withdrawn his name from consideration for the managerial position at Tottenham

With very little to play for, most of the focus pre-match was on Kane and his Tottenham future as fans visited the newly-painted mural of their record goalscorer across the road from the stadium.

It was his 300th start in the Premier League for Tottenham but how many more will be added to that tally remains unknown.

He was a bright spark in the early stages alongside Son Heung-min, who himself had several chances to score in the first half.

BREAKING: Arne Slot is open to becoming #THFC’s new manager.

Spurs will have to negotiate compensation with Feyenoord as Slot's £6m release clause does not kick in until the end of next season.

Arne Slot says he wants to stay as Feyenoord manager - ruling himself out of contention for the Tottenham job.

Dutchman Slot had been heavily linked with a move to Spurs after Antonio Conte's sacking in March.

Slot, 44, led Feyenoord to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, and talks took place on Wednesday about a potential new deal at the Rotterdam-based club.

"I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other interest in me," said Slot.

"Although I am thankful, my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year.

"There is not - and there has not been - transfer conversation and yesterday's meeting was exclusively for an extension. All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord."

After Conte's sacking, Cristian Stellini was appointed Spurs interim manager but was dismissed after four games in charge.

Ryan Mason took over as interim boss for a second spell, having previously held the role briefly at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Spurs have since taken just four points from six matches, and play relegation-threatened Leeds in their final game of the campaign on Sunday.

They need Villa to lose and to do a job on Leeds to qualify for the ECL

Ange Postecoglou, Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique are on Tottenham's shortlist to be their next manager, talkSPORT understands.

Spurs' search for a new permanent manager took another hit on Thursday as Arne Slot committed his future to Feyenoord.

Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason says the uncertainty since Antonio Conte's departure has not had a negative impact on results: "The results before Antonio Conte left weren't amazing so I don't think they have dipped a huge amount. You could feel the weeks leading up to that, there was uncertainty. One of my main things coming in was to try and create a togetherness and make us feel part of something, lay some foundations to build where we want and expect this football club to look like and play like in the future."

Are Tottenham still an attractive proposition?: "Absolutely, yes. It's history. It is Tottenham Hotspur, a big club. Not just for managers, for staff, players, anyone here should feel the privilege and honour of wearing this badge and if they don't they shouldn't be here."

BREAKING: Ange Postecoglu is a leading contender for Tottenham job.

Postecoglu is on a 12-month rolling contract, although Celtic are hoping to persuade him to stay

Ange Postecoglou: Tottenham expected to open talks with Celtic manager about vacant manager's role

Tottenham are expected to open talks with Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou about becoming their new boss in the next few days.

The 57-year-old would not discuss his future after Saturday's Scottish Cup final victory over Inverness.

That victory saw Postecoglou's Celtic side complete a domestic treble.

Tottenham are refusing to comment on the situation, however, well-placed sources have told BBC Sport Postecoglou is likely to join the London club.

It is anticipated Spurs officials will outline their plan for the future and explain to Postecoglou why they think he is the right man for the job.

The Premier League club are wary of being seen to be too optimistic given the speculation that grew around their interest in Feyenood's Arne Slot, only for the Dutchman to decide he wanted to stay with the Eredivisie champions.

But Spurs are also keen to avoid a repeat of the saga of 2021 when they spent weeks trying and failing to land a succession of targets to replace Jose Mourinho.

They eventually appointed former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who was promptly sacked after just 17 games in charge.

Fabrizio Romano:

Understand Tottenham have finally reached verbal agreement with Ange Postecoglou as next manager.

Been told it will be a two year-deal with an option included for further season, so potentially valid until June 2026.

Next step to get it done: find a way with Celtic.

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager on a four-year contract.

Postecoglou, 57, leaves Celtic after winning successive Scottish Premiership titles in his two seasons in charge.

He is Spurs' fourth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino led them to the Champions League final in 2018-19 and follows Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.

"We are excited to have Ange join us," said Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

"Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our club," he added.

Spurs have been searching for a new manager since Conte's departure in March, with Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason both taking charge on an interim basis.

Postecoglou arrives at Tottenham after winning a domestic treble in Scotland, where he has claimed five of the six trophies available to Celtic during his two campaigns with the club.

He is one of only five managers - along with Jock Stein, Martin O'Neill, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon - to secure a domestic clean sweep with Celtic.

Postecoglou is the first Australian to manage in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire, 30, and hope it could persuade his international team-mate Harry Kane to stay at the club.

Tottenham have signed Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Serie A side Empoli on a five-year contract.

He is the second signing under new manager Ange Postecoglou, after Sweden midfielder Dejan Kulusevski turned his loan spell into a permanent move.

Vicario, 26, impressed in his two years at Empoli, earning a first international call-up last season.

Spurs captain and current number one Hugo Lloris has 12 months left on his contract.

Vicario is described by the north London club as a "commanding goalkeeper with the ability to play out from the back".

He started his career at Udinese and had spells at Cagliari, Perugia and Venezia before joining Empoli in July 2021 following their promotion to Serie A.

Empoli were expected to be battling against relegation but the 6ft 4in keeper has helped them to consecutive 14th-place finishes.

Last season Vicario conceded just 39 goals in 31 league appearances, keeping seven clean sheets, as Empoli finished 12 points clear of the drop zone.

He received his first call-up to the Italy squad in September, when he was an unused substitute in their 1-0 home defeat by England in European Championship qualifying.

Vicario has since been named on the bench for friendlies against Albania and Austria, and in their run to this month's Nations League semi-final.

Fraser Forster, 35, is another option in goal for Spurs and the England keeper deputised last season when Lloris was injured.

BREAKING: James Maddison has signed for Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

ottenham striker Richarlison says he will "seek psychological help" when he returns to England after the international break.

Richarlison was pictured in tears after being substituted during Brazil's 5-1 win over Bolivia on Saturday.

He said the reaction was down to "getting the things that were happening off the pitch out of my system".

Richarlison has scored only four goals in 40 games for Spurs since joining for £60m from Everton last summer.

"I went through a turbulent time off the pitch during these past five months," he told Brazilian newspaper O Globo.

"Now things are a bit more stable at home. People who only had their eye on my money are no longer close to me.

"Things are going to flow now and I'm certain that I will have a good run at Tottenham and will make things happen again.

"I'm going to return to England and seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to strengthen my mind. That's what it is about, to come back stronger."

Richarlison missed a great chance before being replaced in the 71st minute in the home World Cup qualifier against Bolivia in Belem, and was substituted 64 minutes into Tuesday's 1-0 win over Peru in Lima.
