Tour Match: England A v Pakistan [Updates & Post Match]

so england A are gonna bowl with

Bresnan
Broad
Bopara
Loudon
Dalrymple

Its not looking like a very strong bowling attack apart from Broad

Pk better not make a mess in batting, batting on a flat deck against average bowlers

If some of the comments above are are indicator of what will be posted during the series, then I suggest you guys give your blood pressure monitors a fine tune!

Its a warm up game - a chance to get used to conditions/climate/each other etc.

R S Bopara 108.4 16 458 7 65.42 2-36 0 0

This is his bowling in Division 2 for Essex in the county championship up until now.

Only 7 wickets at 65. Thats poor but as a batsman hes averaging 47 with 2 centuries and 2 50s

S Bopara 7 13 2 520 159 47.27 2 2 5

Im quite pleased that the team management have persisted with Butt after his failure v Leic. Shows they value confidence which is good - even though i doubt he will play in first test

good start for Parkistarn. Bresnan again showing he's not worthy of putting an England shirt on.

Imran Farhat b Bresnan 16 (33m 26b 4x4 0x6) sr: 61.53
fow: 40/1; partnership: 40 runs

You were saying? :D

44-1

I know he just took the wicket of farhat but he still is not a great bowler look at his stats this year in the county championship. He shouldnt be in this england A team IMO.

T T Bresnan 189.3 33 627 15 41.8 4-36 0

15wickets at 41.8

Rob has a tendancy to say a lot (for eg....England would beat Pakistan 3-0 in Pakistan!). It doesn't always work out for him!

Anyway......this game is going to be a draw. Don't wish an injury on Hoggard and I hope he is ok but I also hope he doesn't recover in time for Thursday.

You're right he shouldn't... but just for a bit of a cheek I'll dig these stats out.

Code:
JN Gillespie 251.1 64 663 15 44.20 4-89 100.4 2.63

Thats it - times up for Farhat - useless batsman - I demand that Salman and Malik open the innings.

Firstly Gillespie isnt a great bowler anymore. secondly alot of the matches Yorkshire play are at Headingly which is one of the more Bowler friendly grounds in the country unlike the Oval, canterbury etc.

Dizzy and Bresnan both play for the Yorkies?

I am aware they both play for Yorkshire.
Gillespie=bad signing for Yorkshire
So we can conclude they are both not great bowlers as theyre bowling on generally bowling tracks and are unable to take many wickets.

Well Farhat is Gone...So now does it means that Butt (who is playing well so far, though it is a flat track) will pair up with Malik for the 1st test

One bad performance and Farhat will not make into the final elevan?

But one thing Bresnan has is age hes only 21 and can only improve. look at freddie when he was 21 and look at him now.

still think it'll be malik and farhat. farhat has played better than Butt since hes been in the Test team recently

Hoping for a real Inzi special here - a big 100 before the first test.

66 for 1 at lunch

Butt not out 30
Iqbal not out 6

66-1 Lunch.

Butt sahib, 30 not out.
Iqbal nephew, 6 not out.

u just posted the same as Hash

..and its not 'Iqbal nephew' it's Javed's nephew ;)

After this bowling performance what do you guys think Will Afridi be in the playing Elevan or if Iqbal performs here Afridi will be out?

I dont think they will play Afridi in first test

Going on recent performances i can see Faisal Iqbal out of the squad to make way for Afridi. Which IMO is the right choice not because I'm an Afridi fan.

And why you think that he wont play...On the other hand i think his inclusion depends on Iqbal's performance thats why the team management has sent him at number 3

Of course i hope they do but i think they will take Afridi's form into account. If memory serves me right i think Faisal did well in the last game

Do you even know Afridi's form?

10 matches, 800 odd runs, average 47.44, 3 100's, 4 50's.

Only an idiot would drop him after that.

Well he did played well in SL and also scored a 100 against INdia in Karachi, But my point is that looking at this bowling performance Pakistan will probably need afridi and if the pitch is like the one they are playing the practice game then i guess the batting line up will be good enough to cope with it and afridi will give the bowling variety and plus his knock (provided he comes good with the bat) can be the killer blow, so i would include him in my elevan ahead of Faisal Iqbal. If the pitch is bowler friendly then probably will take Faisal in and leave Afridi out.

Form in the warm ups + Ireland

I think i have a perfectly clear idea of his form in tests.

However i think they will drop him

Well Easa i guess almost all of those matches in which Afridi featured were in sub-continent ( Only 2 in Windies) and the conditions in England if they are bowler friendly then Afridi might not be able to repeat that with the bat so as far as i am concerned look at the pitch before the match and then decide either Faisal Iqbal or Afridi will play

Yar, after yesterday & todays bowling performance, Afridi's inclusion is inevitable.

Afridi gives you the option to wrap up tail in quick time. He is a must...

Faisal iqbal wont be able to play harmison, because he has problems with short ball.....

Yeah i know his test form has been awesome. I would include him in the team but i'm being realistic and looking from the team's perspective.

Dont you think they would have included Afridi in this game? as he needs all the practice he can get, as he was poor in the recent match.

Also i very much doubt they will have a pitch like this for the first test, I'd be very suprised :))

Well Hafridi if they wont get a pitch like this then Iqbal is in but i will go with afridi for his bowling

and by the way i was saying about Faisal Iqbal's performance not that of Afridi

Waisay, Hafridi mere bhai, no offense intended in my post. :)

Just wanted to get something of my chest.

Afridi is a much better option than Faisal Iqbal.

You cannot drop someone who has an average of near 50 in his last 10 tests.......it just cannot be done and there can be no justification for it. NONE whatsoever.

It's OK Easa, of course i wasnt offended.

I hope he is picked. As Afridi_Fan also said his bowling will be useful!

and faisla iqbal has been dropped already in the slips by Ian Bell...so may be afridi is going to play.Hurrah

Especially since that very same person has taken 23 wickets with the ball @ 32 in the last 10 tests.

Broad shared the new ball with Bresnan, with Matthew Hoggard unable to bowl after suffering a hand injury during an exercise session before the start of play.

And he was unlucky to to pick up a wicket shortly before the interval when Ian Bell put down a chance offered by Faisal Iqbal at second slip.

Faisal survived to reach 10 not out, with partner Salman Butt unbeaten on 30.

92 for 1!

50 for Salman.

Come on Sal...get a big hundred here.

Salman raises his 50 with a wonderful cover drive ala Saeed Anwar....

How do you know which shot he played?
