This is a perfect batting order.Clarke should retire and concentrate on Tests only

Finally a Jr. Marsh doing well. Too bad Shaun bottled it or else he would've been here today.

Shaun is injured. He's possibly in our best ODI team. Has always performed in ODI cricket

Bro. I meant that the bottle has had better off him or else he would've been on a different stage altogether:asif

When the golden gen boys retired, I had big hopes from Shaun.
He may have done alright but had the potential to be a very very good batsman.

just how many big hitters does Aussies have? This is a good side but still missing two big hitters in Lynn and Faulkner :srt

I'd be really surprised if Aus don't smack their way towards the WC trophy

Lynn is nowhere near selection - especially with Warner, Watson and Clarke out of this team.

Faulkner shouldn't be selected. We need our best four bowlers selected to win.

Oh I forgot monster Watto.

I don't think Clarke should play ODIs tbh.Warner can come in if Hughes loses form.

Faulkner seems a better bowler than Marsh, plus hes shown he can bat well under pressure

Marsh goes out for Watson
Warner in for Finch (Hughes has his problems but they won't be so apparent in Australia)
Clarke comes in for Smith.

Faulkner can't bat in the top 6 which holds him back.

Finch is in poor form atm but he seems a better ODI player than Hughes.Hughes has a tendency to get stuck sometimes.

Smith is an improved batsman now.can stabilise and be a good finisher too. Also his leg spin can come in handy.Clarke is okay but with his back issues, its better he focusses on Tests where hes needed more.

Faulkner is a very good AR imo,can bat at 7.And is good enough to be 5th bowling option atleast.

Clarke is actually our best spin option

you mean playing spin?

I'm assuming with WC in Aus/NZ thats not much of an issue.

Anyway, the problem of plenty suggests that Aussies are in best shape going in to the WC

Hughes gets stuck on turners- not a big problem in Australia.

Clarke is our best batsman against spin- but he's also our best spin bowler.

Don't think he'll bowl himself much with his back issues anyway.

Gazza gets the breakthrough.

South Africa 3/64 from 15.4 with de Kock, Amla and de Villiers out

South AFrica's three best batsmen out. Don't think anyone else can help them win this game now.

:amla bhai has lost a bit of magic in ODIs. Not consistent like before.

:amla bhai suffers from lapses in concentration these days.

Amla bhai has been imperious in ODIs recently, a couple of failures being used as evidence that he's declining just shows how much is expected from him.

He got out to a great catch today, could have easily gone for four.

Amla in ODIs this year:

8 innings, 502 runs @ 71 with 3 centuries and a fifty. Some decline!!

ODI cricket should also have a declare option. Would save everyone the trouble of dragging these one-sided games along.

Feasted on India at home when they bowled really poorly.

:amla bhai is getting out to loose strokes and doesn't seem assured at the crease like his usual self.

This game is far from over, it's all about ticking over the scoreboard till the 35th then hitting out.

You're grossly mistaken. In fact, he's being a lot more solid recently since De Kock is getting fast starts and allows Amla to take on the anchor role. You should watch more games and not make up imaginary situations in your head.

I'm sure you also didn't see his superb batting in Lanka either.

:amla bhai has regained his golden touch in Tests but :amla bhai doesn't seem invincible in ODIs anymore.

Why are you so clever? :amla
Just pointing out the obvious to the ones who want to bring in a mercy rule :91:

Pakistani's don't really seem to understand LO's cricket either, so it's not as obvious as to some here.

Faf will need to anchor the innings, if he goes, SA are pretty much dead and buried.

Too much to do now, game is Australia's.

McLaren and du plessis need to do a Fawad Alam and Sohaib Maqsood . Hoping SA win this to give zimbabwe a chance of qualifying

LOL. Game was far from over a couple of overs ago and now its over. So much for any foresight.
Yeah but calling it dead and buried when there was still a chance is pretty presumptuous. This is SA, not Pakistan this same side chased down 300 odd in 45 overs against the same side a week back. How silly of me to give them no chance of chasing 280, even if 4 down.

You got owned, plain and simple. Everyone who has watched South Africa in the past knows that Duminy is a bottler under pressure and that Miller does not have the capability to effectively build an innings.

And by your fantasy logic, the game isn't over now either.

Its okay though, you're a Kiwi.

A bit much to expect a Pakistani to know how to chase at 8 an over in the last 10.

Duminy is a bottler, does that make the whole Pakistan team bottlers as well?

So many seem to say that on here, but can't you say the same thing for pretty much every Pakistani batsmen.

SA do not have much batting left here.

There is no pressure on SA, they're already through.

This is a warm up game ahead of the Final, so much for pressure :yk2

Can you not even stay on topic? How are the Pakistani players relevant in this discussion at all? Just because you got owned doesn't mean to have to bring out your deflection tactics. :yk

Lol. Every international game has lots of pressure, especially when you're in as bad a situation as this.

Owned in what? Just because I gave SA a chance of still chasing it? :ibutt

You're just making yourself look like a fool.

This is a dead rubber, nothing on the line for SA.

So much for 'pressure'.

And no, not every international game has 'pressure'.

This is warm up ahead of the Final.

You're just making yourself look like a fool.

You've already accomplished that.

You know nothing about National pride obviously. Lots of pressure in this game and a bottler like Duminy was never going to win them the game.

Bottling purely on national pride, maybe in the SC, but I doubt the SA's or Aussies will care about the result of a meaningless ODI.

I wonder how many SA's will be reeling after such a loss in such a big game :91:

'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.'

Hm :13:

I should keep this in mind.

*Sigh*. The fans have no bearing on whether or not the players feel pressure. There is a reason they are playing a full-strength side for this "meaningless" ODI.

Stick to rugby.

You're not worth the time Bilal, you've shown time and time again how little you know about cricket and how little you understand modern cricket. I suggest actually watching a few games and listening to a few expert opinions before going online to make stupid suggestions and moronic statements, which do nothing but reflect poorly on yourself and your country.

I'm not the one in a million who doesn't realize that Duminy is a bottler. Neither am I the one who doesn't realize that Miller is never going to be effective at rebuilding an innings. Nor was I the one who was drooling over Pakistan's 8 batsmen strategy, which proceeded to get crushed by the Lankans.

You're the one who needs to start watching cricket and stop talking about rugby in order to make yourself feel better. If you judge millions of people on the comments that one person produces then your problems extend far beyond cricket.

I hope you do not waste my time any further and refrain from calling me out in any future threads.

Marsh havin a blinder! Back to back 100s vs Aus for zippy eh?

7 batsmen would have ensured a 3-0 series win for SL, but whatever, thanks for ignoring the fact that the extra batsmen won you the first game as well as the 3rd ODI where the 6th bowler would have been useless.
