U-19 2nd Semi Final | Kuala Lumpur |Pakistan Vs. S.Africa|29-02-2008

Hopefully it rains and only 8 overs more are possible.

29 runs off 8 overs should be reachable :)

Yup, it would be a cakewalk even for your bits and pieces batting :P

covers are off

47 over game. We need 389 to win.

The target for Pakistan is 252 in 47 overs.

it got more difficult for pak although the damp outfield may help pak batsmen but the mositure might cause the ball to swing more

Why have overs been reduced when there is a reserve day tmoz.

Fantastic insight from the commentator

'Pakistan need to try and get to the target'

Really? wow!

very slow going after the break we have make sure that we are ahead of duckworth lewis by the 20th over

One of these two will need to score a hundred here or even both!

Ahmed Shahzad is such a confident batsman, really hitting the ball from the middle of the bat today

run rate should not be a problem till we have wickets in hand...the only problem pak faces right now is that after 20 overs we have to make sure we are ahead because rain can come anytime and destroy the game for us....
hopefully it will stay away

looks like pakistan will get to 89/2 needed after 20 overs

People start your rain dances!

The umpires are coming together and they are calling for the covers. Rain has stopped play. Pakistan should be 91 for 2 at the end of 20 overs.

so 5 runs needed off 7 balls :)

Well if we need 5 off 7 balls lets hope we dont lose our heads!

We can't afford to lose wicket though, Shehzad is extremely good when he plays normal but he is currently being disturbed by back problem and Duckworth Lewis.

Let's hope this rain goes away and we can finish the job off.

The more overs that are taken off the better it will be for us, I guess.

cricinfo have decided that they are not going to bother updating us on the weather situation and PTV have been showing adverts for the last 20 minutes.

Anyone watching on sky? What's going on?

Am i right in thinking if we get another 1.1 overs today and it rains then one or other side will be declared a winner?

yes, you are.

If we are unable to get 20 overs in then they come back tomorrow at 10am (Malaysian Standard Time) and continue from where the game left off. i.e. If no more play now then we would come back tomorrow needing 166 runs from 28.1 overs.

However if we get 20 overs or more in, then whoever is ahead on Duckworth Lewis goes into the final.

ha ha ha ha

s.a losing on behalf of rain is standard script for semi finals...

why 10 am? :20:
This was a D/N match so wouldn't be unfair to come back at 10 am instead of 1 pm

yes, that's quite silly.

Not really...i'm sure pakistan would prefer to bat in daylight ....as S.A did....

day night has nothing to do with fairness...it's got to do with tickets...

SA batted at 1 pm(time when swing dies down)

21:20local time: It is still raining and It is highly unlikely that there will be any more play today.

I guess we are coming back tomorrow

day/night games are unfair then?

how can day/nighters be a fair contest? waste of time and energy!

SA batted at 1 pm(time when swing dies down)

true ....maaaaaaaybe....depends on conditions , and venue..

Or doesn't the swing die down this time because the ball gets older ???

21:30 local time: The umpires have called off play for today. Please do join me (Binoy George) again tomorrow at 10:00 am local time for the resumption. Until then it is bye from all of us here at Cricinfo.

ok the game has been called off!

I just realized that i will miss the match due to work commitments!

Friday late evening - work commitments? :P

166 of 28 required tomorrow....tough ask .

SAF's turn to get lucky this time...........7 more balls, and it would have been over for them. I'll be putting my money on SAfers!

166 off 28 with 8 wickets in hand.

I'd put us as marginal favourites.

so they chopped off 3 overs and reduced the target by 9 runs only ?

hows that make sense ?

Duckworth Lewis has a habit of doing strange things but it is the best known system at the moment.

if there is a full days play available tomorrow why shorten our innings to 47 overs ??

:20: :20: :20:

considering their best bowler Parnell has maximum 1 over left.. i think we'll be okay.

Good to know :) but I think their slow bowlers will be the key.

I hate it when the rain interrupts matches and duckworth lewis pops in!! :(
There were only 7 or 8 balls left to complete 20 overs and Pak required 5 more runs....
I wish the rain had come 7 balls later!!!:(

Ahmed Shehzad is playing good... n he must have made the record of getting hurt/injured most no. of times in a match!!

look at the other side , if we lost a wicket in those 7 or 8 balls , those 5 runs would become 25

That's 10am local time. Why is it starting at the earlier time, when this was SUPPOSED to be a D/N game and play started at 14:00 local time on the first day?

Not sure if it will be a factor but the earlier start is only likely to favour one team.

hopefully when i wake up tomorrow pak will be in the final Inshallah

Are Geo not broadcasting the second day? With it being weekend which = holiday for me, I'm tempted to stay up and watch.

Can anyone confirm?

That indeed was the question I was about to ask. If you have a spare day, then why reduce the number of allocated overs - bizarre :20:

Inshallah. BUT then they better win the final too. I can't take another final loss against India. =/

Believe me, the confidence they'll get if they win this one will be sky-high!!!
But lets hope we do the job tomorrow!
