UEFA Champions League | 2016-17 season

Too early to predict but expecting Barca to win vs Bayern in the final

Real Madrid wont fluke it again.

Barca/Bayern/Atletico most likely

Arsenal take on a somewhat struggling PSG in today's main encounter. Great opportunity for Wenger's men, but will they fail to capitalise like they usually do?

Giroud should've started smh. Alexis is comfortable on the left and for the first 60 mins we literally had no one in the box and coquelin was the one making runs in behind the defence lol.

A solid result for Arsenal. Poor from Cavani to miss an open goal, though. Also, ridiculously harsh refereeing to send off Verratti.

If Cavani was a world class striker which he isn't, Arsenal would have lost 4-1.

Just seen Barca rip apart Celtic 7-0! That was one helluva performance albeit against second class opposition. They may as well give them the trophy right now.

Strange choke by Sporting. Conceded 2 in the last 5 minutes as Real Madrid won 2-1.

Big match tonight. Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund.

Real have lost their last three away games against Dortmund in the Champions League, which is their longest current losing streak away from home in the UCL.
Hope to see Dortmund win, in shaa Allah. :najam

Atletico vs Bayern tonight. Hopefully, it will go down to the wire like yesterday's Dortmund vs Real Madrid game.

Impressive UCL start for Mahrez. He has 3 in 3. Leicester appear more motivated in the Champions League than the Premier League at the moment.

Wonder how costly Bravo's brainfade will prove...

Messi just too good. I find to so funny when Messi detractors say that he will struggle in the EPL when time and time again, he has destroyed top English teams in the champions league.

This match proves that PL doesn't have the best teams even though it is the most competitive.

Messi couldn't crack it in the EPL :))) shaz619 London_Lahori dashing_man Red Devil

Messi has more hattricks against EPL teams than Ronaldo now :yk

Messi is the greatest individual attacker of all time. period.

The guy continues to thrash PL teams every season and yet he will fail if he plays in England. Sheer delusion. :)))

Messi has lost a bit of pace which means that he isn't as good when running past players but he has improved his finishing and passing and still has quick nimble feet. He is simply a very intelligent player and is truly the best player I've seen. The only people who doubt his ability are jealous CR7 fans such as London Lahori

Barca again showed the EPL for being much inferior when it comes to skill and tactics. No matter how much the top EPL sides spend they just can't produce the dazzling Football Barcelona and other top European sides do. Messi is a class apart right now, it's impossible to compare him to the likes of Zidane or Maradona who played in a different era. Personally, I still feel Maradona is the greatest attacking player off all time having won the World Cup more or less on his own. Arsenal easily won as well, Real Madrid put five past Warsaw where as Monchengladbach made Celtic chase shadows all night long. Would love to see a Messi v Ronaldo final in the form of Barca v Real. Two biggest clubs in the world fighting it out for the right to win the tournament, awesome!

As far as Premier League sides are concerned, I expect a decent showing from the two 'Cities' (Leicester and Manchester) and maybe Liverpool, but that's pretty much it.

We won it five times! Other EPL clubs can only dream of such a feat!:ma

History is great, but the present should be more important. :mc

Having said that, Klopp's LFC definitely has some potential.

If Pak had won the Cricket WC five times we'd never get over it. Same here, can't get over Liverpool's incredible European record until any other British side improves on it. Man Utd fans love telling the world they have won the EPL twenty times. As for the current side we still need a few creative midfielders for when small clubs like Man Utd park the bus in front of our goal:lara.

Anyway, I don't see any English side pulling off a UCL win anytime in the near future barring some drastic improvement over a short time period, which is unlikely.

English football needs Man United back in the champions league. from 06-11, we won it once, reached the final twice and the SF once. Since our decline, English teams aren't doing so well in CL because Arsenal and City are always pathetic against European's elite so it's vital for English football to have a great Man United back in the champions league.

True, although the Premier League needs the old Manchester United back as it can't even dream of the current MUFC competing in the UCL.

Never scored against Chelsea. Tbf we did have legends like Terry at the top of their game.

Also where do you think Leicester will finish in the UCL? I see at best, a QF exit, if they get someone like Leverkusen or Sporting Lisbon in the round of 16.

Probably a R16. They have won 3 out of 3 so far but let's be honest their group is pretty easy

Yeah they were lucky that the one striker they bought, was known for scoring against Porto, the best team in the group. :))

Brugge and Copenhagen are rubbish.

Big game again tonight, as City take on Barca at the Etihad. Should be a somewhat competitive game provided City don't lose the plot again.
Bravo needs to avoid repeating these brain-fades he's been having of late. :uakmal

Messi continues to torment City. They must be really sick of him by now, a bit like Drogba and Arsenal. :misbah

Credit to City for drawing level. Very impressive considering it was starting to look like a typical case of Barca winning in cruise-control mode.

Poor miss from Sterling after a bad first touch.

Barcelona's defence looks rather shaky at the moment.

Barcelona are really struggling to cope with City's fast attacking play here.

A huge opportunity for MCFC to capitalise on their Barca's defensive frailties and pull off a memorable victory.

Oh my. Humble pie for some on this thread. :)))

3-1 to Man City.

Somehow Messi has literally disappeared in the second half. No where to be seen.

Doubt Barcelona can win the Champions League defending like this.

Having said that, full credit to MCFC. Brilliant attacking play from them and definitely one of their best victories.

To be fair, their back line was:

Sergio Roberto (Converted from CM to RB), Samuel Umtiti, Mascherano and Lucas Digne. 3/4 have little experience at the big stage and are quite young, while Mascherano really doesn't have the pace to deal with the likes of Aguero or Sterling.

When Pique and Alba comeback it should be better. No idea why Barcelona didn't buy a RB, it's absurd, just like how Liverpool didn't buy a LB. They either play Aleix Vidal (who is their Alberto Moreno, great attacker, horrible defender) or Sergio Roberto (their inexperienced, young James Milner).

For a team that wants to win La Liga and the Champions League, that's pretty poor.

Massive night for Leicester. Even a draw may take them through to the last 16, which would be a historic moment for the Foxes.

Decent result for Leicester. Tottenham probably on their way out barring an unlikely comeback in upcoming games.

Pretty much a do or die situation for Tottenham tonight. Should be an interesting game as Monaco have been on a roll of late, while Tottenham have Kane back.

Leicester are into the last 16. A phenomenal achievement for a club of their stature, while Tottenham's predictably miserable campaign is finally over.

Ali and harry Kane I can't believe it
They looked so good last season

English football continues to languish.

The massive gulf in quality between English and non-English players is having an impact on most English clubs.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City give a bit of hope. Frankly speaking, Arsenal are too soft regardless of how good they may look at times.

City did get one over Barcelona recently but they did give them a sniff of hope and its wasn't entirely convincing either
Spurs have disappointed everyone especially with how languid they looked at times last year

Yes, Spurs are definitely looking like home-track-bullies at the moment. :ashwin They've been thoroughly exposed in Europe.

Arsenal seriously need to up their game tonight. PSG will make them pay if they play the way they did against United.

Bayern under Ancelotti not looking too impressive at the moment. Perhaps, they need a bit more time to adjust to his style post-Pep.

Bayern vs Atletico coming up. Both teams have been somewhat off-colour of late, so it should be an interesting game.
