US Elections 2020 : The Joe Biden vs Donald Trump Thread

With the postal votes likely to be mostly Dem, looks like Michigan (16), Nevada (6) and Arizona (11) plus the 237 Biden has, that’s 270.

I must have miscounted - the final result will be Biden 270 - 268 Trump.

I feel the same too.

China will be extremely pleased if Trump loses.

Despite being ahead and on his way to a win, Biden has still not declared victory. Compared that to Trump who declared victory yesterday lol.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has said in a speech in Delaware that "it is clear that we're winning enough states to win the presidency"

Joe Biden is projected to win Michigan gaining 16 electoral college votes towards the 270 required in the race for the White House

Looks like Biden is looking set for victory, although it could be a tight finish.

That will put him on 264, so he still needs the 6 from Nevada.

269 now assuming he takes Michigan. Still needs Nevada.

Nevada apparently are releasing some, but not all, results tonight ahead of schedule so should get an updated tally at some point.

Will be a few days waiting on the others.

Bulk of the remaining votes in Nevada are from the Blue heavily populated counties, it will just strengthen Bidens lead even more.

Personally, its the best of both worlds - Biden presidency with Republican Senate. That will prevent any absurdities being passed like rolling back tax reforms or packing the court.

He is already ditching Trump look at his press conference

Republican establishment never liked Trump in the first place (look at the criticism of Mitch against Trump in 2016)

The Trump freakshow is over. My Pakistani American relatives while depressed that Trump still has some loyal support and that he got as many votes as he did but overall they are believing in America again

There is a chance. Unless he is doing time in jail

Trump will be Biden's current age in 2024. He will be a fireball of energy even then. I can see it happening given half the country still has an appetite for him.

Nevada will announce its result tomorrow at 10 am. Biden is favorite to win Nevada and that will also take him to 270 electoral college.

According to some reports, republican leaders are pressurizing Trump to concede for the good of the country

Biden is probably winning this.

Things were looking good for Trump yesterday but outcome has completely flipped today.

Does anyone think Trump will be back in 2024 ?

Yep. Would have preferred for him to have won a second term so there would have been no doubts about his success as a President. Now there will always be a large section of America who will feel he was robbed of pushing through the reforms necessary to make America great again. That is how it will be presented by the nostalgia vets who still hark back to the US of the 50s.

In America if you're a one-term President then you're de facto considered a failure.

Not if it is such a close contest and if the supporters of the losing side believes in conspiracy theories that "someone" doesnt want its leader to win. Both these factors exist in trump's case.

Exactly! Trump himself has mocked George HW Bush several times for being a one-time president. More likely he will try establishing his own media network or something with his buddies Hannity, Ingraham & Co. &/or will prop his son next time around.

Actually people never remember the scoreline, fact is Trump is a one-term Pres lol. No one remembers Hillary winning the popular vote, no one remembers Bush Sr being quite popular until the '92 recession. It's like a world cup final, it don't matter how close the the match - the result stands and that's all people will remember years from now.

No guarantee Trump won't contest and win in 2024. ;)

He has a lot cases against him and Dems are trying to throw him behind bars, only SCOTUS can save him but he won't run in 2024. Also he's going to be 78, I think his sons have a better chance. Trump Jr actually wants to run in the future.

I think Biden is going to take Pennsylvania. Trump’s lead has dropped from 600k to 150k with 500k mail-in votes still to count.

And Georgia.

While we watch the US becoming a banana republic with protests et al.

Nevada is really tight. Arizona and Georgia getting tighter too.

Arizona has been decided already

By some channels like Fox News but other channels like CNN are hesitant to call it (yea you would think it would be the other way around). Meanwhile Trump has narrowed Biden’s lead there considerably overnight.

As far as I see, Trump's lead in PA, NC, GA and AK is too large for Biden to cover. However, Biden only needs Nevada, over there Biden's lead is paper thin.

The manner in which these mail in ballots have swung the election completely in states where Trump was leading is very suspicious especially where Biden received 1 million votes whereas Trump received only 1000, I can understand why Trump will demand an extensive audit of these votes

He is. PA is Biden's and it won't be close.

If he loses PA, I think he will concede. Trump Jr said that it is their only path to victory.

If however he holds PA, then given how close the other final states are, it’s still very much on.

How is it suspicious when Trump's party was telling their people not to mail in ballots because it can't be trusted while Biden's party promoted it in the case of COVID worries?

especially where Biden received 1 million votes whereas Trump received only 1000s

Where?

A complete utter shambles.

The beacon of civilisation, democracy, and technology - are helpless and clueless when it comes to implementing the 'Freedoms and Democracy' of the world; happy to drop bombs in the ME for democracy, but **** scared when the wrath of democracy hits home. Cowards.

Sharaam karo. Not Democrats, not Republicans, but the Amreekans who picked these 2 candidates out of 350M.

You Americans are an embarrassment to democracy, freedom, fairness, and intellect.

It's not in PA - as I said earlier there are hundreds of thousands of mail-in votes to count and they're mainly in the Pittsburgh and Philly areas that heavily lean Democratic.

North Carolina will be difficult for Biden - the local election board says mail-in votes postmarked for Nov 3rd but arrive later can still be counted through to Nov 12th.

Georgia is definitely up in the air - last time I checked Trump's lead is down to 18K and the Secretary of State for Georgia said there's about 50K votes to count, and they're mainly from Atlanta and Savannah - areas with large populations of African Americans who lean Biden.

Alaska is a safe Republican state.

Update has it at 61k outstanding

Likely but not guaranteed yet.

The two Georgia Senate races may go to a run-off in January 2021 which would decide which party holds the Senate. I shudder to think of the amount of money that'll be thrown into those contests...

Looks like Republicans would go into that with a 50-48 lead.

Georgia to 'finish counting by noon'

Things may be moving faster in Georgia than original estimates suggested.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger just said the state had about 90,000 ballots to go by last night, but by this morning there were just around 25,000 ballots left to be counted.

Speaking to WSB-TV in Atlanta, Raffensperger said: “We should be done no later than noon-time today.” That's 17:00 GMT.

Fulton County, home of Atlanta, is expected to conclude counting in the next hour, he said.

Biden is behind by about 18,000 votes in Georgia, according to the latest estimates.

If Biden wins Georgia, Trump's chance of winning re-election plunges significantly.

Trump is not winning Pennsylvania. Philadelphia has huge amounts of votes left and Biden has already reduced the gap to some thousand, coming from way behind.

Georgia also has most of the mail in vote left and those have leaned heavily democratic. Plus the counties with votes left have gone and go blue, Atlanta being the important one here. Biden has made up the gap significantly and he only needs 3 out of every 5 to get the lead. Certainly possible and it's trending that way too.

NC is very close too and I have little idea about the vote left there. Could go either way but with Trump leading, I think he takes it.

Biden will win this without needing PA. As you say he only needs Nevada. The vote left there is mainly from Vegas area and that is a democratic. It's going to near impossible to make up for that.

Alaska is a safe red state so that's going to Trump.

The question left I think is how large is going to be Biden's margin.

If Dems restore the blue wall, take Georgia and Arizona, this will be a good election for them. They have made inroads in Texas and as evident NC as well, which could very well go blue.

Lead down to 116,000 with 8% of the votes left to count - about 500,000 on play. Biden likely to get at least 2/3 of these. He’s going to win.

Nevada lead for Biden up from 8000 to 12000.

This is like the last day of a great test match.

We all know Biden has won it, it's just the formal crossing of the line left.

In cricket parlance, its the 5th day of a test but target is tiny something like 150. The chasing team had a stutter in the beginning and were reduced to 25/3 but now are at 120/3 with two set bats at the crease.

Unless it's Pakistan playing

Pakistan lost from a situation like this against Sri Lanka. I think it was in 2009

Trump’s lead in Penn drops to 114k with 550k to be counted.

Biden picking up Philly votes at a rate of four to one.

Arizona can easily go red- Trump is gaining among the late early voters (Sunday/Monday voters) - so Biden will need to win either GA or PA to cross the line. My bet is on PA- too many votes from Democratic areas outstanding.

Trump lead in Georgia down to 13,000 with 38,000 left to count, again mostly postal votes coming from blue counties - Biden needs 66% of these to win but he’s hitting 80%.

it is if you not an american . One party encouraged in while the other kept calling it voter fraud . Guess which one will get more mail in?

What even is going on?

It's like being awake during your own surgery.

Starting to get a feeling that the election will be called for Biden, by Fox, sometime before tomorrow morning. Whether or not Trump will then concede is another matter altogether!
