Priest's wife stabbed to death inside temple in east Delhi, accused held

The incident occurred around noon inside a temple located within the DDA Flats complex, when the victim was offering prayers. The victim had sustained multiple stab injuries to the head and upper body.

New Delhi:
A 48-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside a temple in east Delhi's Mansarovar Park area on Sunday, sparking panic in the locality. The incident took place around noon inside a temple located in the DDA Flats complex, where the woman was offering prayers at the time of the attack. Police have detained the main accused along with the weapon of offence for further investigation.

Woman was stabbed multiple times

According to the police, a PCR call was received at around 12 pm reporting the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said in a statement, "The caller told the team that two boys stabbed a woman priest (panditayeen) on the head."

The DCP further said that the victim, identified as Kusum Sharma, a resident of Mansarovar Park, sustained multiple stab injuries to the head and upper body. She was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests that an unidentified man, accompanied by a person believed to be his associate, repeatedly attacked Sharma with a knife, causing fatal injuries. "Prima facie, it appears old enmity, but further investigation into the matter is underway. Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the case," said the DCP.

What happened inside the temple?

A murder inside a temple in Delhi's Shahdara area on Sunday has triggered panic and shock among locals. A man allegedly entered the temple and fatally stabbed the priest's wife in broad daylight.

The incident occurred around 11:30 am when Kusum, the wife of temple priest Mahesh Sharma, was sitting inside the temple along with three to four others. According to police, a young man armed with a large knife entered the premises and asked about the priest. When those present told him that the priest had gone elsewhere to perform prayers and pointed out his wife, the attacker suddenly launched a brutal assault on Kusum, stabbing her repeatedly. She collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely.

When another woman, identified as Bina Garg, tried to intervene and stop the attacker, she was also stabbed. She sustained injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.

A case has been registered against an unknown assailant, and an investigation is underway.

Mahesh Sharma, the priest of the Jwala Ji temple, said the temple is built on a 400-square-yard plot that also includes roadside shops rented out to tenants. He claimed there has been an ongoing dispute over the land, with some individuals asserting ownership, while he maintains that it belongs to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The matter is currently pending in court.

The priest's son told police that the family had recently received death threats. Four police teams have been formed to crack the case, and one suspect has been detained for questioning as investigations continue.

Jaipur: Parents, students demand CBSE to restore Neerja Modi School affiliation post-suicide row

Jaipur: On December 30 (Tuesday), CBSE revoked the affiliation due to 'gross violations' of safety norms, triggered by a Class 4 girl's alleged suicide on November 1 after jumping from the fourth floor. Labelling the setting unsafe, the board enforced its harshest penalty for student protection.

Jaipur:
Parents and students at Jaipur's Neerja Modi School held a peaceful sit-in on Saturday (January 3), urging the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to reinstate the school's affiliation- cancelled earlier this week. They warn the mid-session revocation jeopardises nearly 5,500 students' futures, disrupting exams, studies, mental health, and academic continuity.

CBSE's stern action: Safety violations cited

On Tuesday (December 30), CBSE terminated the affiliation, citing "gross violations" of student safety norms following the tragic suicide of a Class 4 girl on November 1, who allegedly jumped from the school's fourth floor. The board deemed the environment unsafe, imposing the "severest penalty" to protect students. An inquiry panel flagged relentless bullying, ignored complaints from July 2024, and the class teacher's inaction despite the girl's five pleas in her final 45 minutes.

Parents' plea: Don't punish the innocent

Protesters highlighted adaptation woes if forced to switch schools mid-year, including new systems, environments, and bullying risks in coaching classes. Parent Anup Agarwal argued: "This affects 5,000 kids- opt for fines or security upgrades instead. Suicides occur at IITs and IIMs too, yet affiliations persist." Shyamali Singh added, "It's tragic, but why punish students? They'll struggle to adjust while the school recovers."

Core demands and concerns

Demonstrators seek a CBSE review, written guarantees on alternative schools' compliance, and swift affiliation restoration for seamless education. They emphasise financial penalties or enhanced safeguards over blanket disruption, framing the cancellation as collective punishment on children and families.

Balancing accountability and access

The standoff pits school accountability against student welfare, spotlighting CBSE's zero-tolerance on safety amid rising bullying concerns. As protests remain non-violent, pressure mounts for dialogue to avert long-term academic harm.

Five children rescued

Father Calls 21-Year-Old Home To "Forgive" Her For Marriage, Then Shoots Her

The father later confessed to the killing, telling police he acted because he felt she had brought "dishonour" to the family.

Bhopal:
The Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh has once again been shaken by a brutal "dishonour killing," exposing the deadly persistence of social stigma in the Chambal-Gwalior belt. A 21-year-old married woman was allegedly shot dead by her father in a mustard field after she returned to her village, believing she was being called home for reconciliation.

The father later confessed to the killing, telling police he acted because he felt she had brought "dishonour" to the family.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Khiria Thapak village, under the jurisdiction of the Mehgaon police station. The victim, Nidhi Dhanuk, had been married just a month ago, on December 11, to Devu Dhanuk, a resident of Gwalior.

According to police, Nidhi went shopping with her husband in Gwalior on December 28. She asked her husband to fetch her some water. When he stepped away, she disappeared. Both families searched for her, but she could not be traced.

Investigations revealed that on Tuesday, Nidhi contacted her father, Munnesh Dhanuk, from an undisclosed location. Her father reportedly assured her that all would be forgiven and urged her to return home.

Trusting him, Nidhi returned to Khiria Thapak. However, instead of taking her home, Munnesh allegedly led her to the outskirts of the village. There, in a mustard field, he allegedly shot her in the chest with a country-made pistol, killing her instantly.

Nidhi's body was found on Wednesday morning after her mother, Pooja, alerted the authorities. The police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

Munnesh was arrested shortly after. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime, stating he feared social disgrace. "There was a lot of dishonour, so I killed her," he told investigators.

Police have registered a case of murder under Section 103 (formerly Section 302) and other relevant provisions. They are currently working to recover the weapon and investigating if anyone else was involved in the conspiracy. Villagers claimed Nidhi had been in a relationship with a distant relative from the same village, which had caused significant conflict within the family.

2 Siblings, Who Went Missing From Ranchi, Found In Jharkhand's Ramgarh

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the two siblings were freed from the "clutches of the kidnappers today".

Ranchi:
The two siblings, who went missing from Ranchi's Dhurwa area 12 days ago, were freed from kidnappers in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Wednesday, police said.

A police team was sent from Ranchi to Ramgarh to bring back the children, aged 4 and 5, who went missing after going to a grocery store near their house on January 2.

SP (Ranchi- Rural) Praveen Pushkar told PTI that both the missing children were traced to Chitarpur in Ramgarh district.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the two siblings were freed from the "clutches of the kidnappers today".

"How can someone stoop so low? Personally, the last few days have been quite distressing for me. Initially, there was no success, but the way the Ranchi Police connected the threads of a similar incident in another state and reached the criminals to secure the children's release is commendable," he said in a post on X.

Soren said the investigation will not end with the rescue of the two children.

"We will make efforts to break the backs of criminal gangs after conducting a thorough investigation into such crimes in the state, and outside the state. Heartiest congratulations to the team of @ranchipolice and @JharkhandPolice for their promptness and efficiency. And heartfelt best wishes to the families of our children -- Ansh and Anshika," he added.

The police had formed a special investigation team, comprising 40 personnel, to trace the two children.

It was not immediately clear if any arrests were made in connection with the case.

The disappearance of the two children had led to massive protests in the state capital, with the BJP questioning the law and order situation under the Soren-led government.

Stepmother burns 5-year-old girl's private parts with hot spatula in Kerala

The incident came to light after the minor's anganwadi teacher noticed that she was having difficulty sitting down during the class. The teacher then informed the local police, who, upon receiving the information, rushed to the spot and checked the girl.

A woman was arrested by Kerala police for allegedly burning her five-year-old stepdaughter’s private parts with a hot steel spatula.

The incident came to light after the minor’s anganwadi teacher noticed that she was having difficulties sitting down during class. The teacher then informed the local police, who, upon receiving the information, rushed to the spot and checked the girl.

The police then registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act. They later arrested the woman on Thursday.

As per the police, the woman is a native of Bihar, and the girl’s father is a citizen of Nepal, working in a hotel. The child is presently under the care of the Child Welfare Committee.

In 2024, the Ernakulam Police in Kerala arrested a woman for allegedly killing her six-year-old stepdaughter. The woman named Aneesha, 26, a native of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly smothered her stepdaughter with the help of a local sorcerer. The police also traced the sorcerer and arrested him for his alleged involvement in the case. The police also arrested the girl's father, Ajaz Khan, in the case.

During the investigation, the woman, who was pregnant when the incident took place, told the police that she could not remember how she killed her stepdaughter. She believed that there was an evil spirit that made her do the inhuman act. Khan, her husband, informed the police that Aneesha often used to turn hysterical, and she was under the treatment of the local sorcerer.

2 Arrested For Kidnap, Gang Rape Of Class 12 Student In Rajasthan

The incident occurred on January 6 when the teenager was on her way to school, the police said.

Two men were arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a Class 12 student in Rajasthan's Bikaner district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on January 6 when the teenager was on her way to school, the police said.

The accused were identified as 23-year-old Vakil and Hansraj (28).

According to the police report, Vakil and Hansraj approached the victim and offered her a ride.

As the victim knew the accused, she agreed to it. However, the moment she entered the car, they kidnapped her and allegedly took turns to gang-rape her in the moving car. They drove the vehicle around the Bikaner area for approximately 90 minutes.

The ordeal ended only when residents of a neighbouring village noticed the car's erratic movements and forced it to stop.

The two assailants panicked and fled the scene on foot, abandoning both the vehicle and the victim.

The victim did not initially report the crime, fearing for her life after the suspects threatened to kill her.

On January 11, after persistent questioning by her family, she revealed the details of the assault.

An FIR was immediately registered at the Napasar police station.

CO Gangashahar Himanshu Sharma spearheaded the investigation leading to a multi-state manhunt: Vakil was tracked down and apprehended in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where he had fled by bus. Hansraj was located and arrested within Bikaner district.

Police have confirmed that the victim has undergone a mandatory medical examination, and the vehicle used in the crime has been seized as forensic evidence.

"The interrogation of both suspects is currently underway," stated CO Himanshu Sharma.

"We are preparing a comprehensive record of the incident to ensure a strong charge sheet is filed as quickly as possible."

Both accused are scheduled to be produced in court on Wednesday, where the police will seek extended custody for further investigation into the premeditated nature of the kidnapping.

2 Women, Jailed With Relative Gangster For Murder, Win Pune Civic Polls

Mithun Chavan, a lawyer associated with the Andekar family, said the twin victories reflected the social work carried out by the family over the years.

Pune:
Two relatives of gangster Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar, currently lodged in jail in connection with the murder of his grandson, were elected from ward number 23 in the Pune civic polls on Friday.

Sonali Andekar, daughter-in-law of Bandu Andekar, and his sister-in-law Laxmi Andekar were fielded by Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The party had faced sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party for nominating candidates with criminal backgrounds.

'I Have Strangled My...': UP Man Walks Into Police Station With Chilling Confession That Left Officers Stunned

A young man walked into a Kanpur police station at dawn and confessed, setting off the uncovering of a night marked by suspicion, police intervention and a marriage that collapsed within hours.

A chilling confession shattered the calm of a Saturday morning at Maharajpur police station in Kanpur when a visibly distraught young man as per reports, walked in, broke down in tears and told the officer on duty, "Sir... I have strangled my wife. Her body is lying at home wrapped in a blanket."
The man, identified as Sachin, 22, stunned the police with his admission. He as per a NDTV report, told officers that after killing his wife, Shweta, he wandered through the city for nearly four hours, battling the urge to flee before finally deciding to surrender. Acting on his statement, police immediately took him into custody and rushed to the couple’s rented room, where Shweta’s body was recovered.

A marriage that began in defiance

Sachin and Shweta were natives of Mohanpur village in Fatehpur district. Their relationship had begun in defiance of social norms. The couple had opted for a court marriage against the wishes of their families and moved away to start life on their own. Initially, they lived in Surat, where Sachin worked in a factory. About a month later, they relocated to Kanpur, rented a small room and tried to rebuild their lives. Sachin began driving an auto-rickshaw to earn a living.

But behind the fragile setup, cracks were widening. During interrogation, Sachin told police that he had grown increasingly suspicious of Shweta’s character. He claimed money was frequently being deposited into her bank account, which she explained came from her grandmother. He also said he became uneasy about the presence of young men living across from their house.

A night of suspicion that turned fatal

On Friday, Sachin said he decided to test his suspicions. He called Shweta and lied that he was attending a party with friends and would not return home that night. When he came back unexpectedly, he claimed he found the door open and saw his wife with two neighbourhood youths inside the room.
A heated argument followed, alarming neighbours who called the emergency helpline 112. Police arrived, questioned everyone and took them to the station. After the two men stated they were merely sitting there, officers counselled the couple and sent them back, advising them to sort out their differences peacefully.
The tension did not subside. Back at home, the argument escalated again. Sachin told police that Shweta threatened him and said she would stay with the other men even if he killed her. Enraged, he strangled her.
After the murder, Sachin fled to the Ghantaghar area, where he sat alone for hours. Recounting his decision to surrender, he as per the report by NDTV, told police, "I thought about how we had no one else, we eloped and got married for each other. Now she has no one, and neither do I. So I went to the police station and surrendered."
Shweta’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while police continue their investigation into the disturbing case that has left the locality shaken.

Her father spent Rs 5 lakh on her wedding and also gave gold as demanded by the husband's family, the woman alleged in her police complaint.

Soon after their wedding, the woman got to know that her husband was an alcoholic. When she told her in-laws about this and raised an issue with it, she was told not to complain because she had not provided enough during the wedding.

Locked for 5 Years, Retired UP Railway officer 'Starved' to Death by Servants, Daughter Left with ‘Only Skeletal’

A retired railway officer died of starvation after years of alleged neglect by his servants, while his 27-year-old daughter survived in a severely malnourished state, described as having “no flesh left on her body, only a skeletal frame.”

In a horrifying case of murder and torture from Uttar Pradesh, a servant couple allegedly confined a retired railway employee and his reportedly mentally disabled daughter inside their own home for nearly five years in Mahoba district, reportedly to gain control over their property and finances.
In these five year, the elderly man died due to neglect and starvation, while his 27-year-old daughter survived in a severely malnourished condition looking like an '80-year-old with no flesh left on her body; only a skeletal frame remained, barely clinging to life,' claimed one relative as per a report by NDTV.

The victims have been identified as Omprakash Singh Rathore, a 70-year-old retired senior clerk with the railways, and his daughter Rashmi.

According to Omprakash’s brother, Amar Singh, as quoted by Times of India, after the death of Omprakash’s wife in 2016, he began living separately with his daughter. He later hired Ramprakash Kushwaha, a resident of Charkhari, and his wife Ramdevi to help care for them. The family alleges that over time, the servant couple took control of the house, confining the father and daughter to the lower portion while occupying the upper floors themselves.

Relatives claim the two were kept under strict confinement for at least two years. Whenever family members attempted to visit, the servant couple allegedly turned them away, claiming that Omprakash and Rashmi did not wish to meet anyone. Trusting these explanations, relatives returned without raising alarms.
The situation came to light after relatives received news of Omprakash’s death and visited the house on Monday. They were shocked by what they found. While Omprakash's body was completely emaciated, Rashmi was discovered in a dark room in an extremely weakened state, allegedly due to prolonged starvation. Family members said her condition reflected years of neglect and deprivation.

The relatives further alleged that the servant couple acted in a planned manner, driven by greed for the house and bank assets. They claimed the accused had even placed a nameplate outside the residence falsely identifying himself as Omprakash’s son.
Police were alerted and reached the spot, taking custody of Omprakash’s body and sending it for postmortem examination. An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to his death and the alleged confinement.

Saw Mother With Lover, Paid With His Life: Gwalior Woman Gets Life For Killing 5-Year-Old Son

A Gwalior court has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment over the murder of her five-year-old son after he allegedly saw her with her lover.

A Gwalior court has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for the murder of her five-year-old son. The incident dates back to April 2023, when the victim, Jatin, saw his mother, Jyoti, in a compromising situation with her lover, Uday.
Fearing that her son would expose her extramarital relationship to her husband - police constable Dhyan Singh Rathore - Jyoti decided to kill him.

According to prosecutors, Jyoti pushed Jatin from the roof of a two-storey building. The boy was rushed to hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

Case Initially Treated As Accident

Initially, the child's death was treated as an accident. However, police said that the circumstances surrounding his death continued to raise doubts. As per a NDTV report, Jyoti reportedly broke down and confessed the crime to her husband.

By then, Dhyan Singh Rathore had also begun to suspect that his son's death was not an accident.
Rathore recorded several audio and video conversations in which Jyoti admitted her role. He also secured CCTV footage from cameras installed at their residence.
Armed with this material, Rathore approached the police and lodged a formal complaint, prompting a fresh probe into the case.

Jyoti’s Lover Named Accused But Later Acquitted

Following the complaint, police registered a case and named both Jyoti and Uday as accused. A charge sheet was later filed, and the matter went to trial.
The court found Jyoti guilty on the basis of the evidence presented and sentenced her to life imprisonment. Prosecutors told the court that the sequence of events, digital evidence and the confession together formed a complete chain pointing to her guilt.
The court also noted that the initial attempt to portray the child's death as an accident delayed justice, but sustained investigation ultimately exposed the truth behind the killing.
Uday, however, was acquitted, with the court citing insufficient evidence to establish his involvement in the crime

VIDEO: 9-Year-Old Filming Reel During Car Stunt Sparks ‘Noida Techie’ Fears Again

Greater Noida Child Stunt on Car Roof: In Greater Noida, a man was arrested for filming a nine-year-old clinging to a moving car’s sunroof for Instagram, sparking debate over child safety and reckless behavior on roads.

Greater Noida Child Stunt on Car Roof: In Greater Noida, a man was arrested after shooting a video in which a nine-year-old boy clung to the sunroof of a moving car to gain likes and followers on social media. The dangerous stunt sparked online debate over the child’s safety and the driver’s negligence. It happened under the Bisrak Police Station limits.
In the video, the minor can be seen sitting on the sunroof, holding onto a portion of the car for support as it sped through a residential society. Once the car slowed at the main gates, the boy relaxed and gestured boldly, celebrating the stunt.

Reacting to the viral video, DGP Central Noida confirmed the accused’s arrest. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “Taking cognizance of the said video, the Bisrakh police station has taken the car driver into custody. Further legal proceedings are underway, and the child’s family has been given strict instructions.”

The incident comes amid ongoing discussions about road safety following the death of 27-year-old Noida techie Yuvraj Mehta. Mehta tragically fell into a water-filled pit while returning from Gurugram. Despite his efforts to save himself - climbing onto his car roof, calling his father, and signaling locals with his phone torch - he could not be rescued.

Protests following his death led to the arrest of the accused builder, the removal of Noida Authority CEO M. Lokesh, and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.
This latest incident underscores the dangers of risky behavior on roads. Experts and social media users have highlighted that such unsupervised stunts, especially for online attention, not only put children at risk but may also encourage reckless behavior among young viewers. It has reignited conversations about stricter road safety enforcement, responsible driving, and the need for public awareness campaigns to prevent minors from being exposed to life-threatening risks.

No Court Relief For Kuldeep Sengar In Unnao Rape Survivor's Father's Death Case

The 2017 Unnao rape case made headlines last month after Sengar - then representing the Bangarmau seat - had his sentence suspended by another bench of the Delhi High Court and was granted temporary and conditional bail.

The Delhi High Court has refused to suspend the 10-year prison sentence handed to ex-BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar over the custodial death of the Unnao rape survivor's father.

"No grounds are made out for grant relief. The application seeking suspension of sentence is dismissed," Justice Ravinder Dudeja said Monday afternoon, writing another chapter into the rape survivor's long and painful hunt for justice, for herself and her murdered father.

Justice Dudeja said Sengar could not be given relief - i.e., temporary bail on grounds of prolonged incarceration amid delayed hearing of appeals against the custodial death and rape case verdicts - because he himself had contributed to the delays by filing multiple applications.

Instead, the court called for the existing appeals to be "heard expeditiously".

Appeals against the December 2019 verdict that found Sengar guilty of raping the girl - for which he was handed a life term - and the March 2020 verdict in the custodial death case are pending.

Sengar had been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in the custodial death case.

The trial court had said then 'no leniency' could be shown for killing the family's sole bread-earner - who had been arrested on a false Arms Act complaint, on orders from Sengar, and who died in police custody - and handed an identical sentence to Atul Singh Sengar, his brother.

The Unnao rape case made headlines last month after Sengar - then representing Uttar Pradesh's Bangarmau Lok Sabha seat - had the rape case sentence suspended by another bench of the High Court and was granted bail pending an appeal against the trial court verdict.

In a controversial order, the High Court reasoned his status at the time - as a MLA - did not justify the lower court considering him a 'public servant'. The bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad and Justice Harish Vaidyanathan also said anti-child sexual offences law POCSO could not be applied in this case.

And, having dismissed Sengar as a 'public servant', the court said the seven-and-a-half years served so far is "more than minimum number" prescribed by law.

As a result Kuldeep Sengar was released on conditional bail; the conditions include a Rs 15 lakh personal bond, a promise not to leave Delhi or come within five kilometres of the survivor.

The release order was widely condemned while shocking scenes from Delhi - where the survivor and her mother were bullied and intimidated by central security forces while trying to protest - added to the tension and anger that has erupted over the past week.

His release led to clashes between central forces tasked with 'guarding' the survivor and members of her family, including frightening visuals of her mother seemingly forced to jump from a moving bus that then drove off with her daughter on board.

Speaking to reporters after the outrageous incident, the mother broke down and said, "We did not get justice. My daughter has been held captive. It seems they want to kill us."

A CRPF officer later claimed the survivor was being 'escorted' back home, though no formal statement has been made on the mother being removed from the bus.

Lucknow Girl Killed By Instagram Friend. He Lured Her With Marriage Promise

The suspects have been identified as Anshu Gautam and his accomplices, Ashiq, Vaibhav, and Rishabh.

Lucknow:
A minor girl was murdered after being lured into a relationship on Instagram with a promise of marriage in Lucknow. Her body was recovered from the railway tracks five days ago. Four accused have been arrested in the case, said police.

The suspects have been identified as Anshu Gautam and his accomplices, Ashiq, Vaibhav, and Rishabh.

Anshu had befriended the girl on Instagram. He used to talk to her on the mobile phone and social media, her mother told the police. She alleged that Anshu lured her away with the promise of marriage. When her daughter did not return, she contacted Anshu's family members but received no help, she alleged.

Based on a complaint filed by her, the police registered a case and started an investigation.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a police team was formed under Inspector Suresh Singh. In swift action, the team picked up the four accused. During his questioning, Anshu confessed that he and his accomplices had strangled the girl after a dispute and dumped her body on the railway tracks.

Police said legal action is being taken against them and that strict sections, including the POCSO Act, have been invoked in the case. The four suspects are being questioned further, and a strong charge sheet will be filed by connecting every link so that the culprits can be given the harshest possible punishment, said an official.

Woman Killed By Father, Brother. She Wanted To Marry A 'Distant Relative'

Based on the post-mortem report and other evidence, a case of murder was registered against her father, Chandra Prakash, and brother Rahul.

Gonda:
A case of suspected honour killing has come to light in Gonda district, where a 19-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her father and brother for wanting to marry a distant relative, police said on Saturday. Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said that on Friday, information was received regarding the death of a young woman in Thorhans village, allegedly due to electrocution at home.

A call made to Dial-112 claimed that she had been murdered. Upon receiving this information, police arrived at the scene, conducted a preliminary examination of the body, sent it for a post-mortem, and initiated an investigation into the case.

Technical evidence was collected with the help of the field unit and dog squad. Based on the post-mortem report and other evidence, a case of murder was registered against her father, Chandra Prakash, and brother, Rahul, following a complaint lodged by the woman's prospective husband, Parmeshwar Pathak, leading to their arrest.

According to the SP, during questioning, the two men confessed that the woman intended to marry Pathak, a distant relative, against the wishes of her father and brother.

On January 30, upon discovering that she was preparing to leave home, they allegedly locked her in a room, bound her hands and feet, and smothered her mouth before electrocuting her with an electric cable, officials said.

Parmeshwar also provided the police with several letters written by the woman, in which she allegedly expressed fear of her father and brother, officials said, adding that the post-mortem examination report, conducted by a panel of two doctors and videographed, also confirmed death due to electrocution.

The SP mentioned that the accused tried to stage the crime as an accident by placing an ironing machine nearby, but the investigation uncovered the truth.

Evidence, including a muffler, dupatta, and the mobile phone used in the murder, has been recovered based on information provided by the accused.

Meanwhile, both the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Jijoli village allegedly killed his 12-year-old son over a marital dispute, hid the body in a trunk, and fled, triggering a police manhunt.

In a heart-wrenching incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district, a man allegedly killed his 12-year-old son with a sickle and fled the village after hiding the body inside an iron trunk, police said
The accused, identified as Rajesh, was a resident of Jijoli village under Makhanpur police station area. According to the police, tensions had been simmering in his household for months, driven by frequent arguments with his wife Urmila over property issues. In-laws Held Him as Wife Strangled Husband: How Nine Years of Love in Bareilly Ended Over Rs 20,000 Gamble

Two months after their wedding, a Bareilly man was allegedly strangled by his wife with help from her family, who then staged the murder as a suicide, police said.

Two months after a wedding in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, that capped a nine-year love story, 33-year-old Jitendra Kumar Yadav tragically died.
Initially reported as a suicide, a post-mortem revealed that "strangulation" was the cause of death. Police as per a report by PTI allege that Jitendra was strangled by his wife, Jyoti, while her father, mother, and brother held him down. The body was then suspended from a window grill with a muffler to stage a suicide. Three of the accused have been arrested, while Jyoti’s brother is still at large.

Jyoti and Jitendra had married on November 25 last year, after a nine-year relationship that began during their student days. Police said the marriage was conducted according to Hindu customs with the consent of both families.

Dispute Over Money

Jitendra, a contract employee at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), married Jyoti, a contract bus conductor with the Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation on November 25 last year, after a nine-year relationship that began during their student days. Police said the marriage was conducted according to Hindu customs with the consent of both families.

However, according to police, the relationship soured within weeks over financial issues.
Jitendra, a native of Bhaupora in Etawah district, allegedly withdrew Rs 20,000 from Jyoti's bank account and lost it in online gambling. This led to repeated arguments. On January 26, when Jyoti confronted her husband about the missing money, the argument escalated into a physical fight. Jyoti then called her parents and brother to the rented house in Girja Shankar Colony, Izzatnagar, where the couple lived.
Police say Jyoti's father Kalicharan, mother Chameli, and brother Deepak restrained Jitendra while Jyoti strangled him. The family allegedly staged the scene to make it appear as suicide.

'In a Fit of Rage'

Jitendra's brother Ajay Kumar filed a complaint, against Jyoti and three others for abetment to suicide, prompting the post-mortem and investigation.
"The postmortem report confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation," the CO told PTI, adding that the accused were subsequently charged with murder.
Jyoti confessed to the crime, stating that disputes over financial issues had deepened bitterness. Police allege, "during the fight that followed, her parents and brother restrained Jitendra, allowing her to strangle him 'in a fit of rage'. After his death, the family allegedly worked together to stage the scene as a suicide by hanging."

Sorry, Papa," it read, accompanied by a hand-drawn crying emoji. The note reportedly detailed their gaming and mobile activities. The girls were reportedly addicted to an online Korean task-based game.

Eyewitness Account and Response

Singh said he saw one of the sisters on the balcony railing. "I saw all three of them jumping......before I could figure out what's happening and call someone to stop the person from jumping, all three—the person sitting on the railing and two girls trying to pull them down—fell off the balcony."

Singh also claimed that while "One of them seemed determined to jump the two others were trying to save them, but all three fell headfirst."

Singh also said that he immediately called the police and an ambulance.

Sorry Papa'

The sisters left behind a diary with several notes. "A true life story. Is diary mein jo kuch bhi likha hain, woh sab padh lo, kyunki ye sab sach hain. [Whatever you are seeing in this diary, read everything, because everything is true] Read now! I am really sorry, sorry papa," read one note, which included a sketch of a crying face.
"We can't leave Korea. Korea is our life. You can't free us. We are ending our lives," the note mentioned as per a report by NDTV.

A Murder To Avenge Mother's Insult After 10 Years. Not A Bollywood Script

Sonu Kashyap roamed the streets of Lucknow for the next 10 years in search of the man who had insulted his mother.

A Murder To Avenge Mother's Insult After 10 Years. Not A Bollywood Script

Sonu Kashyap roamed the streets of Lucknow for the next 10 years in search of the man who had insulted his mother.

Lucknow:
Their mother was insulted and thrashed by a man a decade ago. What followed was a frantic hunt that carried the essence of a classic Bollywood script and the brutality of an unforgiving son. Such is the story of Sonu Kashyap, who, driven by his thirst for revenge, roamed the streets of Lucknow for the next 10 years in search of Manoj.

Sonu's friends joined him in the murder plot, purely on the promise that they would be thrown a party after the killing. They executed a well-crafted plan and eliminated Manoj, a coconut water seller, but a social media post gave away their identities to the police and landed them all behind bars.

The accused were identified as Sonu, Ranjeet, Adil, Salamu, and Rehmat Ali.

The Murder

Manoj had thrashed Sonu's mother over a dispute about 10 years ago and fled the area. Upset and enraged over the insult meted out to his mother, Sonu began a quest to find him. Time passed, but he didn't give up. About three months ago, he finally spotted him in the city's Munshi Pulia area. There began his planning for revenge.

From conducting a recce to noting down Manoj's daily schedule, Sonu prepared a meticulous plan to eliminate him. But he needed resources. He involved four of his friends in the murder plot, promising to throw them a party after the murder. On May 22, after Manoj had just closed his shop and was alone, they attacked him with iron rods and left him half-dead.

Manoj died during the treatment.

The Party

It was a blind probe for the police. While the accused were captured on CCTV, the cops could not find them anywhere.

Meanwhile, with the murder executed, it was party time for Sonu and company. He threw a lavish liquor party for his friends. Booze flowed, and some photos even made it to social media. And that helped the police zero in on the suspects.

One of the five suspects seen in the CCTV footage was identified in the social media photos. Further search gave away his social media profiles. He was seen wearing the same orange t-shirt on social media that he wore during the murder.

The police then tracked and arrested all five suspects

CJ Roy Death Probe Depends on FM Sitharaman’s ‘Decision’: Karnataka Minister as Politics Rage Over Bengaluru Suicide

Karnataka Home Minister says probe into CJ Roy’s Bengaluru suicide will depend on FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s decision as political controversy grows.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday said it was "too early" to link the suicide of Confident Group chairman CJ Roy to alleged pressure from the Income Tax department, as claimed by his family.
"Everything will be ascertained once the probe is completed. Until then, we can't arrive at any conclusion. It can't be said at this stage that the suicide was due to a particular reason," Parameshwara said.

He added that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the state government has already started its probe. "The team will record the statements of the family members and others, and we'll see what comes out," he told reporters as per a report by TOI.

Responding to questions on a written query by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Parameshwara said, "I don't know the contents of the letter, but we should wait and see what decision is taken. The income tax department comes under the Union minister. I don't know whether she will order a judicial inquiry or any other probe.

Roy, a 57-year-old native of Kerala, was found dead at his Bengaluru office on January 30 with bullet injuries. Police said he died by suicide while an I-T raid was underway. Investigators noted that Roy was alone in his office when he shot himself in the chest.

Probes and Political Controversy

Political tempers flared after Roy’s death, with the Karnataka opposition alleging serious lapses during the operation and Kerala CM Vijayan demanding a judicial probe. Vijayan termed Roy’s death “a blot on the tax administration of the country” and flagged alleged procedural failures during the search.

The SIT has recorded statements from I-T officials who said they were only verifying documents and did not question Roy directly. Investigators noted that Roy was not prevented from carrying out routine activities and that crime scene reconstruction is yet to be conducted. Summons have been issued to Roy’s family and associates, though some questioning was delayed after the body’s custody was postponed.

Construction Staff Knew He Had Fallen Yet...: What Police Found in Delhi Biker Death Case

Kamala Dhyani, a 25-year-old, died after falling into an unguarded construction pit in west Delhi, highlighting serious civic negligence.

New Delhi: The death of 25-year-old Kamal Dhyani after his motorcycle fell into an open pit in west Delhi's Jankanpuri, has once again raised serious questions about civic negligence and the value of an ordinary citizen’s life.
As Delhi Police continue their investigation, officials say evidence shows that people linked to the construction site were aware that a person had fallen into the pit shortly after the incident but failed to alert authorities or arrange help.

What Happened that Night

The incident took place after midnight in the early hours of Friday, when Dhyani was riding his motorcycle to home and fell into a deep pit dug for construction work. The pit was reportedly left open and unguarded on the road.

According to police, Dhyani remained trapped in the pit for several hours. He was later found dead, triggering public anger and demands for accountability.

Eyewitness Saw the Fall

During the investigation, police identified an eyewitness who had seen the accident take place.
DCP West Sharad Bhaskar said Vipin Singh witnessed a motorcycle fall into the pothole and immediately informed a guard at the site. The guard then passed on the information to a contractor’s worker named Yogesh.
Police say Yogesh went to the spot and saw both the victim and the motorcycle, with the headlight still switched on. Despite this, no emergency services were called.

According to the police timeline, Yogesh informed his supervisor, contractor Rajesh Prajapati, at around 12:22 am. However, neither of them alerted the police, ambulance services, or local authorities.
Meanwhile, Subcontractor Rajesh Prajapati has been arrested in connection with the death Kamal Dhyani, while worker Yogesh has fled the scene.
Explaining the findings, DCP Bhaskar said the investigation clearly shows negligence after the accident was known.
“During the investigation, we found an eyewitness named Vipin Singh, who had seen a motorcycle fall into the pothole. He informed the guard, who then told the contractor’s worker Yogesh. Yogesh saw the victims and the motorcycle’s headlight still on. He then informed his boss, Rajesh Prajapati, at 12:22 am. These people knew that someone had fallen into the pothole, but they didn’t tell anyone,” Bhaskar said.
“We will arrest all the individuals involved in this case. The worker Yogesh has fled; teams have been deployed to catch him,” the DCP said.

Delhi Biker's Tragic Death: ‘10 Minutes to Home,’ Waiting Anniversary Cake, and A 'Killer' Pit

A 25-year-old Delhi call centre employee, Kamal Dhyani, was found dead in a poorly barricaded construction pit hours after telling his family he would be home in 10 minutes to celebrate his parents’ wedding anniversary.

It was almost midnight. Kamal Dhyani, a 25-year-old call centre employee, dialled his twin brother at 11:53 pm on Thursday (February 5) and assured him he would be home in 10 minutes. The plan was to celebrate their parents’ wedding anniversary. The clock kept ticking - thirty minutes passed, but Kamal did not arrive. As repeated calls went unanswered, his parents panicked and left home in search of him. They inquired at his office, checked parks and roads, and visited police stations in Sagarpur, Dabri, Mangolpuri, Janakpuri, Palam, and Rohini.
Altaf Alam, a friend, said, "It was his parents’ wedding anniversary. He had taken an off on Friday to celebrate it. At home, his parents were awake with a cake, waiting to mark their anniversary together once he returned. Kamal had prepared for kirtan and a small party."

The tragic call came the next morning. Kamal, who worked as an assistant manager at the Rohini branch of HDFC Bank, had been found dead. He and his motorbike had fallen into a 20 feet long, 14 feet deep, and 13 feet wide - construction pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board for sewer work.

Timeline of Events

  • Around 11 pm: Kamal left his Rohini office.
  • 11:53 pm: He called his twin brother saying he was near and "would reach in 10 minutes."
  • Late night: Calls went unanswered; family launched frantic searches across Janakpuri, Mangolpuri, Paschim Vihar, and nearby police stations.
  • Police allegedly refused to file a complaint since 24 hours had not passed. They sent two personnel to assist, but to no avail. Family was asked to return at 11 am to register a missing complaint.
  • Next morning: A PCR call reported a man had fallen into a construction pit on Joginder Singh Marg. Kamal’s body and motorbike were recovered; helmet still on.
The grieving family alleged serious negligence, saying the pit was dark, unbarricaded, and lacked warning signs. The Delhi Jal Board has now covered it with green mesh and suspended three engineers. A FIR registered under Section 105 of BNS (culpable homicide) against the contractor and Delhi Jal Board officials.

Family members claim Kamal left with his manager, and the two split at Peeragarhi before his phone went silent. They alleged police delays, saying "cops only provided a 200-metre radius," forcing friends to search themselves. They also allege foul play, claiming they had looked inside the pit earlier. When seeking CCTV footage, police allegedly told them cameras "only provided live feed and had no playback/recording facility."
Police confirmed Kamal’s missing complaint was filed at Janakpuri police station around 2.50 am. His photo and vehicle details were circulated, and search teams combed nearby parks and colonies, but he was only found the next morning following a PCR call reporting a man had fallen into a construction pit on Joginder Singh Marg.

Weeks After Marrying 9-Year Lover, She Killed Him As Parents Held Him Down

The wife, Jyoti, and the victim, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, had married on November 25, last year, following a nine-year relationship that began during their student days.

Bareilly:
Two months after a wedding that had capped a nine-year love story, a marriage in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly collapsed after the death of the husband. 33-year-old Jitendra Kumar Yadav was found hanging in a rented house in the city's Izzatnagar area.

Initially, the death raised no alarm. Neighbours were told that Jitendra died by suicide. But a post-mortem examination revealed that "stangulation" was the cause of death. Piecing all the evidence together, the police said that Jitendra was strangled by his wife while his father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law held him down.

The body was then suspended from a window grill with a muffler to stage a suicide. Three of the accused have been arrested, while the police are looking for the brother-in-law.

What Happened

The wife, Jyoti, and the victim, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, had married on November 25, last year, following a nine-year relationship that began during their student days. According to police, the marriage was conducted according to Hindu customs and with the consent of both families.

According to the police, the relationship began to sour within weeks of the wedding, primarily over money. Police allege that Jitendra withdrew Rs 20,000 from Jyoti's bank account and lost the sum in online gambling. The loss led to repeated arguments between them

On January 26, when Jyoti confronted her husband about the missing money, the argument escalated and turned into a physical fight. At that point, Jyoti allegedly called her parents and brother to the couple's rented home.

The house is located in Girja Shankar Colony within the Izzatnagar area. Jitendra had been living there with Jyoti since their marriage. He was originally from Bhaupora village in Etawah district.

How He Died

According to the police, Jyoti's father, Kalicharan, mother Chameli, and brother Deepak arrived at the house following her call. During the ensuing confrontation, police claim, the parents and brother restrained Jitendra, holding his arms and legs, while Jyoti strangled him.

Police say that once Jitendra stopped responding, the family attempted to erase the signs of homicide. His body was allegedly tied with a muffler and hung from a window or ventilator grill to make it appear that he had died by suicide. An alarm was then raised to alert neighbours, with claims that the son-in-law had hanged himself.

When police reached the spot on January 26, the death was initially treated as a suspected suicide. Jitendra's body was found hanging inside the rented accommodation, and no immediate signs contradicted that account.

But a complaint was filed by Jitendra's brother, Ajay Kumar. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case of abetment to suicide against Jyoti and three others and ordered a post-mortem examination.

It concluded that the cause of death was strangulation and not hanging, effectively ruling out suicide. With that finding, the police altered the charges from abetment to suicide to murder and intensified their investigation.

Jyoti's brother Deepak has also been named as an accused in the case. Police said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest him.

The Confession

During interrogation, police say Jyoti confessed to the crime and provided details of the events leading up to her husband's death. She told investigators that she and Jitendra had known each other since their student days. Jitendra was employed as a contract worker at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), a premier government research institution based in Bareilly. Jyoti, police said, was working as a contract bus conductor with the Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation.

According to her statement, frequent disputes over financial issues had deepened bitterness between the couple in the weeks following their wedding. On the day of the incident, she claimed, the argument spiralled out of control, prompting her to call her family.

Police allege that during the fight that followed, her parents and brother restrained Jitendra, allowing her to strangle him "in a fit of rage". After his death, the family allegedly worked together to stage the scene as a suicide by hanging.

Man Who Moved To Italy From Punjab 4 Months Ago Found Dead, Family Seeks Help

The man's father, Jagir Singh - who works as a driver in Punjab, said Twinkle seemed to be "perfectly fine" when they spoke two days ago.

New Delhi:
A 24-year-old man from Punjab was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Italy last week, with his family demanding an investigation and help from the Indian government to bring back his body.

Twinkle Randhawa had moved to Italy nearly four months ago in pursuit of a better future - for which his financially weak parents had taken a loan. He lived in Dubai earlier for a year.

When Twinkle's parents were not able to get in touch with him, they called the other men living with him in Italy - who kept telling them different versions of his whereabouts, they said.

"When asked about Twinkle, the men living with him kept making excuses - sometimes saying he hadn't woken up, sometimes saying the police had taken her, sometimes giving different information. Twinkle went to Italy four months ago. The family's financial situation is dire. His father manages to support the family by driving a car," Twinkle's relative, Sarban Singh, said.

The man's father, Jagir Singh - who works as a driver in Punjab, said Twinkle seemed to be "perfectly fine" when they spoke two days ago.

"I have two sons; Twinkle was the youngest. He lived in Dubai for a year, then went to Italy four months ago. I last spoke to him the day before yesterday, and he was perfectly fine. After that, we hadn't heard from him for a few days. We called his friend, Gill, who told us that Twinkle had fainted, following which he was given lemonade, and then was left lying in the park," he said.

Since his friends were not around, the police had taken him into their custody, he said.

"We don't know what really happened there. We demand that the Indian government manage to get our son's body back to India so we can cremate him according to Punjabi customs. This news devastated our entire family," Jagir Singh added.

Twinkle's mother recalled her last call with Twinkle two days ago, saying he seemed "fine".

"The next day, when I couldn't reach him, I called his flatmate. He told me that Twinkle had gone out with some boys. I thought he might have gone to look for work. When I called again after some time, he said he would arrange a conversation and then disconnected the call. Upon repeated questioning, he told me that Twinkle had fainted and Twinkle's father had said on the phone that he had suffered a heart attack," his mother, Baljeet Kaur, recalled.

Twinkle wanted to bring his mother to Italy in two years - after he had settled, she said.

"I have two sons, and this was my youngest and most beloved son. He used to tell me, "Mom, once I settle here, I will call you to me, and after two years, I will definitely come back." I had no idea this would happen to him. I request the government to return my son to me under any circumstances," she added.

The tragic death of 24-year-old SWAT commando Kajal Chaudhary in Delhi has raised serious allegations against her husband, Ankur, who is accused of assaulting her during a domestic dispute. Kajal, who was four months pregnant, suffered severe injuries and died five days after the alleged attack.

New Delhi: The death of 24-year-old Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal Chaudhary has sent shockwaves through her family, with her brother alleging that she was brutally assaulted by her husband at their home in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden. Kajal, who was four months pregnant at the time, succumbed to her injuries on January 27, five days after the alleged assault on January 22.

‘I could hear her screaming on the phone’

Recounting the night of the incident, Kajal’s brother Nikhil said he was on a phone call with her when the argument escalated. “I received a call and could hear my sister screaming. Five minutes later, my brother-in-law called and said, ‘mere haathon ye mar gayi hai, aa jao isse lene’ (I have killed her, come pick up her body),” he alleged while speaking to the media.
According to the family, Kajal suffered severe head injuries during the assault and was later declared brain-dead by doctors. “The doctors told us treatment was not possible,” Nikhil said.

Allegations of dowry-related violence

The family has alleged that Kajal faced domestic violence from the early days of her marriage due to dowry demands. Nikhil claimed that her in-laws repeatedly said the dowry should have been more. “Initially, things were fine, but later he also started behaving the same way,” he said, referring to Kajal’s husband, Ankur.

18 Labourers Killed, 1 Injured After Blast In Illegal Meghalaya Coal Mine

The explosion is suspected to have occurred during coal mining activities at the site, which are believed to be illegal.

At least 18 labourers were killed, and several others feared trapped following an explosion at an "illegal" coal mine in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district on Thursday, police said.

"We have recovered 16 bodies so far. The exact number of labourers present inside the mine at the time of the explosion is yet to be ascertained. More people are feared trapped," Director General of Police I Nongrang said. Since then, two more deaths have been confirmed, taking the death count to 18.

Rescue teams have been engaged in search operations, the officer said, adding that the incident occurred in the Thangsku area in the morning during coal mining activities at the site, which are believed to be illegal.

One person who sustained injuries in the blast was initially taken to Sutnga Primary Health Centre before being referred to a Shillong hospital for better treatment, East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar said.

Asked whether the mine was operating illegally, Kumar said, "Yes, it seems like that." He said the cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, and an inquiry will be conducted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives.

"Pained by the mishap in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest," the Prime Minister's Office posted on X.

Rs 2 lakh compensation will be given to the victims' families, while those injured will be given Rs 50,000 from the PM National Relief Fund, the PM's office said.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said he has ordered an inquiry into the accident.

"Profoundly saddened by the tragic coal mine incident in East Jaintia Hills. My deepest sympathies are with the families who have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate tragedy," Sangma posted on X.

"The Government of Meghalaya has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. Accountability will be fixed, and those responsible will face strict legal action. There will be no compromise when it comes to the safety of lives. In this moment of sorrow, the State stands in solidarity with all those affected," the Chief Minister added.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had imposed a ban on rat-hole coal mining and other unscientific mining practices in Meghalaya in 2014, citing environmental damage and safety risks, while also restricting illegal transportation of coal extracted through such methods.

Rat-hole mining involves digging of narrow tunnels, usually 3-4 feet high, for workers to enter and extract coal. The horizontal tunnels are often termed "rat-holes", as each just about fits one person.

The Supreme Court later upheld the ban and allowed mining only under scientific and regulated procedures with environmental safeguards.

Rajasthan Woman Drove 600 Km To Convince Lover To Marry Her. He Killed Her

Mukesh Kumari, an anganwadi supervisor in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, connected with Manaram, a schoolteacher in Barmer, on Facebook last year

Barmer (Rajasthan):
A 37-year-old woman drove 600 km to meet her lover and insisted that he marry her. The next day, her lifeless body was recovered from her car. Her lover, a school teacher, has now been arrested for allegedly murdering her with an iron rod.

Mukesh Kumari, an anganwadi supervisor in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, separated from her husband about a decade ago. In October last year, she connected with Manaram, a schoolteacher in Barmer, on Facebook. The two started meeting, and a relationship began. Mukesh would often drive from Jhunjhunu to Barmer -- about 600 km away -- to meet Manaram.

She wanted to settle down with him. While Mukesh had divorced her husband, Manaram's divorce case was pending in court. According to police, Mukesh had been pressuring Manaram to move forward on the marriage plan, and this led to frequent altercations.

On September 10, Mukesh drove her Alto car from Jhunjhunu to Manaram's village in Barmer. She asked bystanders and reached Manaram's home, and told his family members about their relationship. This infuriated Manaram, and local police were called in. The cops counselled them and asked them to resolve the issue.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Manaram then told Mukesh that they would talk about it. In the evening, the two were together when he allegedly struck Mukesh on the head with an iron rod, leading to her death. He put Mukesh's body in her car's driving seat and rolled it off the road to pass it off as an accident. He returned to his room and slept. The next morning, he told his lawyer to inform the police about Mukesh's body.

As police started investigating the incident, they smelled a rat. The phone locations of Manaram and Mukesh were found to be the same at the time of her death. During questioning, Manaram broke down, and he was taken into custody.

Mukesh's body is now in the morgue of the district hospital as the police wait for her family members to come to Barmer.

Narendra Singh, Superintendent of Police for Barmer, said Manaram had killed Mukesh and put her body in her car. "We called a forensic team and a dog squad. Necessary action will be taken. We are investigating the case from all angles."

Delhi Triple Death Mystery: CCTV Shows Unknown Man with Victims Before Bodies Found in Car

In the Peeragarhi triple death case, a mysterious man seen with the victims shortly before their deaths is now a significant focus for investigators.

New Delhi: A mysterious man seen sitting with three people inside a car shortly before their deaths has emerged as a key focus in the ongoing investigation into the Peeragarhi triple death case, police sources said. The bodies of three people, including a woman, were found inside a locked car near the Peeragarhi flyover on Sunday, triggering a major probe by Delhi Police. CCTV footage from the day of the incident has now revealed that an unidentified man was inside the vehicle with the victims before they were found dead.
According to police sources, the CCTV visuals show the man sitting in the front seat of the car along with one of the deceased, identified as Randhir. The man is believed to have met the trio on the same day and was known to them, making him a possible crucial link in the case.

Officials said the man had not only met the victims but had also spent time sitting inside the car with them. His movements and role are now being closely examined as investigators try to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the deaths.

However, a senior Delhi Police official clarified that no conclusions have been drawn so far. “As of now, no case has been registered and nothing has been established. All aspects of the investigation are open,” the official said, adding that no one has been detained yet.

"We are questioning people and trying to recreate the sequence of events to understand what might have happened," he added.
The incident came to light after police received a PCR call reporting three people lying unconscious inside a car near the Peeragarhi flyover. When the police reached the spot and opened the vehicle, they found Randhir, Shivnaresh and Laxmi dead inside.
Police sources said the car had been parked at the location for nearly an hour before the PCR call was made.
Post-mortem examinations of the three victims are still awaited. Officials said poisoning is suspected, and due to this, the final post-mortem opinion may take time. The cause of death will be confirmed only after viscera examination and forensic analysis.
Police is also looking into all possible angles, including the possibility of a suicide pact, while continuing to question people connected to the victims. Police said more clarity is expected once forensic reports and post-mortem findings are received.

Bihar Wedding Turns Tragic, Bride's Cousin Killed During Celebratory Firing

The man sustained serious gunshot injuries after being allegedly hit by some gunshots fired by unidentified individuals during the wedding celebration.

Patna:
A wedding celebration in Thanua village under the Shivsagar police station area of Bihar's Rohtas district turned into a tragedy on Monday morning when a member of the bride's family was killed during celebratory firing.

The deceased has been identified as Nandan Kumar Singh, son of Vijay Bahadur Singh, who is a resident of Buxar district.

Nandan, a schoolteacher posted at Middle School, Vishrampur (Itahari block, Buxar), had arrived to attend his cousin's wedding. Around 1 a.m. on Monday, he sustained serious gunshot injuries after being allegedly hit by some gunshots fired by unidentified individuals during the wedding celebration.

Following the incident, the family rushed him to Narayan Medical College Hospital, Jamuhar, from where he was referred to Sasaram Sadar Hospital due to his critical condition.

Nandan succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, plunging the family and the wedding party into deep grief.

The deceased man's cousin, Anupam Kumar Singh, has levelled serious allegations against the police.

He claimed that instead of arresting the accused immediately, the police detained about 10 members of the bride's family at the police station for several hours, seized their mobile phones, and pressured them to manage or settle the case.

“After the incident, the police did not arrest the accused, instead, they made 10 of us sit at the police station, snatched our mobile phones, and pressured us to manage the case,” said Anupam Kumar Singh, cousin of the deceased.

These developments have deepened the family's anger and raised questions about the initial police response.

Upon receiving information, a Shivsagar police team reached the spot, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. A probe was initiated under the supervision of Sadar DSP-2 Dilip Kumar.

Police have arrested the three main accused and recovered the pistol allegedly used in the firing.

Sasaram SDPO Dilip Kumar stated, “Three people have been arrested in the case. Their accomplices have been identified, and raids are underway to arrest them. Technical evidence has been collected from the scene, and a weapon used in the crime has also been recovered. Further action will be taken after interrogation.”

Bengaluru Woman Found Strangled Near Whitefield Field; Phone Trail Raises Questions

A 30-year-old woman was found strangled in an agricultural field near Whitefield in Bengaluru. Police are probing her last movements and missing phones.

A woman in her thirties was found dead in an agricultural field in Bengaluru's Whitefield area on Wednesday. The woman, originally from Murshidabad, West Bengal, has been identified as Sonali Khatun. Sonali had moved to Bengaluru, along with her husband, two children and her mother, a year ago, in search of work. On Wednesday, her body was found in a field in Siddapura, close to Whitefield. Investigators suspect she was strangled.
Sonali worked as a housekeeper at a private facility management firm in Brookefield. Her husband Babu Shek, 33, is a constructoin labourer. The couple lived in Siddapura with their two children - a 14-year-old son and a 8-year-old daughter - and Sonali's 60-year-old mother, Sayra.

When relatives tried to contact her, the husband's phone rang once before being switched off. Sonali's own phone was also unreachable. The family searched through the night but did not contact the police. Her body was discovered the next day by the police, who traced her addressed and visited her residence.

"Prima facie, it appears she was strangled to death," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) Saidulu Adavath said, adding that the exact cause of death would be confirmed after autopsy.
Police have registered a murder case based on the family's complaint.
Investigators are yet to determine if Sonali met someone she knew or if she was subjected to sexual assault.
Apart from marks around her neck, there are no other visible external injuries.
CCTV footage from buildings nearby is being scanned to identify suspects. Efforts are underway to trace both the phones as the investigation continues.

A short-circuit fire in a Bengaluru duplex killed a 54-year-old woman by suffocation, while police and fire staff rescued three family members trapped inside the burning house.

A 54-year-old woman died after a massive fire gripped a duplex home in Gayathrinagar, under the Subramanyanagar Police Station limits in north Bengaluru, on Monday night (March 3), according to media reports. Police have identified the woman as Savitha, wife of city contractor Ramesh Babu. According to officials, the family of the deceased lived in a four-storey building. The ground and first floors were rented out, while the second and third floors were used as a duplex home by the family.

What Triggered the Fire?

According to the officials, the fire is suspected to have originated from a short circuit. They said the fire might have started in the kitchen on the third floor between 9.30 pm and 9.50 pm, which spread rapidly to other parts of the upper floors, reported The Times of India.

As thick smoke filled the house, Savitha ran up to the terrace to escape the fire. However, she could not breathe properly because of the heavy smoke and is believed to have died due to suffocation. A neighbour described the scene and said the family members were shouting for help from the upper floors. The police and fire staff went inside and brought out Ramesh Babu, his mother, and his son. Savitha was already on the terrace, but the fire was too strong for anyone to reach her in time.
Officials said the quick action by fire personnel helped save three lives, but the family is deeply shocked by Savitha’s death.
A case has been registered at Subramanyanagar Police Station. Police are continuing their investigation to find out the exact cause of the fire.

A tragic event occurred in Tumakuru, where a 26-year-old homemaker, S Vijayalakshmi, and her twin sons, S. Chetan and S. Chaitanya, were discovered dead in a water sump at their home. The incident was revealed when the husband returned to find his family missing, with neighbors noticing water overflowing from the sump.

"I'm Sorry": Indore Man Jumps From 5th Floor After Cop Allegedly Slapped Him

According to the family, Raj had stepped out of his flat late at night because of the heat and breathing discomfort.

Indore, Madhya Pradesh:
He apologised, yet a policeman allegedly slapped him. Minutes later, a frightened 23-year-old man ran upstairs to his apartment and jumped from the fifth floor, dying on the spot.

The tragic death of Raj Makwana in Indore's Tapti Complex between 2 and 3 am on Thursday has raised disturbing questions about the events that unfolded in the final minutes before his death.

According to the family, Raj had stepped out of his flat late at night because of the heat and breathing discomfort. He had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment for mental stress, due to which he had been largely staying at home for months. Raj's sister says he often went outside briefly for fresh air when he felt uneasy.

But that night, a security guard stopped him near the building premises and questioned why he was out so late. The exchange reportedly led to an argument. The guard then alerted passing policemen.

The family says the situation escalated quickly when officers began questioning Raj. His relatives told the police that he was mentally challenged and under medication.

His sister Nikita described the chain of events in painful detail.

"He was mentally challenged and was on medication. He had some breathing problems, so he would go out for a walk," said Raj's sister, Nikita. "He went out at night, but the guard saw him and asked him why he was out. He said, 'I'm taking a walk, as I'm not feeling good.' The guard must have asked him to go home, but he refused. The guard got angry, so he called the police, who investigated my brother. When we found Raj was not at home, we arrived there that night and saw the police interrogating him."

Nikita said the family tried to explain Raj's condition to the officers.

"We spoke to the senior officer and told him to let him go. He had come out for some fresh air. He said, 'Keep him inside, take care of him.' We said, 'Okay, sir, he hasn't said anything to anyone or done anything to anyone.'"

According to the family, Raj tried to calm the situation and apologised. "The officer started talking to him. My brother said 'I'm sorry', but the officer slapped him."

What followed, the family says, was a moment of fear that spiralled out of control.

"Then he came home and said, 'I'm scared the police will take me away, so I'll hide.' After a while, he jumped from the top floor."

Raj died on the spot.

Police were informed and rushed to the scene. Raj was taken to the hospital but was declared dead due to severe injuries. His body was later sent for a postmortem.

Outside the hospital, the grieving family sat through the night in shock.

Raj's father, Manoj Makwana, works as a cook. His mother is a homemaker. His two sisters work nearby, while his brother is employed in a private company. The family lives in an apartment that is part of an IDA government housing scheme.

According to relatives, Raj had been battling health issues for some time and had been largely confined to home for several months.

Police, however, have presented a different sequence of events.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajesh Dandotiya said that around 2 am, the guard of Tapti Complex informed the beat in-charge that a young man was creating a disturbance. A police response team reached the spot and counselled Raj and his mother.

"The family informed us that the boy was mentally ill and had been under treatment for two years," Dandotiya said. According to police, the team left the spot after counselling the family.

Police say that about 45 minutes later, Raj jumped from the fifth floor. Officers again reached the spot around 4:07 am and took him to the hospital.

A case has been registered, and the matter is under investigation.

But for the Makwana family, the questions remain painfully simple - how can a brief encounter in the middle of the night end in an irreversible tragedy?

'She was Acting for a Reel': How UP Woman Strangled Herself in Fake Suicide Stunt

A woman in UP died while filming a social media reel. She was attempting to create a hanging scene when she lost her balance on a stool, leading to her death.

A 27-year-old woman died allegedly while recording a reel video for a social media platform at her home in Baberu town, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday evening. She was reportedly filming a suicide scene by hanging, which turned fatal after she accidentally slipped, said media reports. The incident came to light when her young daughter entered the room and found her hanging. At first, her family believed the woman had died by suicide. However, a police investigation later suggested that the death was accidental.

What Happened

The deceased, identified as Mohini, was fond of making reel videos for Instagram. Mohin fixed a noose to a hook in the ceiling and stood on a stool to make the act look real. When she was pretending for the camera, she lost balance, causing the stool to slip away. The noose tightened around her neck, and she died within moments, reported The Times of India.

How the Incident Came to Light

The accident was discovered when Mohini’s four-year-old daughter walked into the room. On seeing her mother hanging, the child screamed for help. Family members and neighbours rushed in and immediately informed the police.

Police Investigation

When the family saw Mohini hanging to the ceiling, they believed that she had committed suicide. However, the police reached her home and recovered her mobile phone that held key information to her death.
Her mobile phone indicated that she was recording a video at the time of the incident. This evidence suggested the death occurred during a stunt that went horribly wrong.

Local police, Superintendent Palash Bansal, and other officials reached the incident site to gather evidence. As of now, the incident appears to be a tragic accident caused by a dangerous social media stunt, but the police are investigating the whole incident through all possible angles.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death, and investigators are examining all angles to rule out any foul play.
Safety Advisory: Social Media Reels Can Be Dangerous
  • Do not attempt risky stunts or acts that involve hanging, fire, heights, or sharp objects for videos.
  • Never imitate suicide or self-harm scenes, even as a joke or for dramatic effect.
  • Remember: one mistake can be fatal—no reel or video is worth risking your life.
  • Social media fame is temporary; safety is permanent.

Bengaluru Pet Dog Attack: After 8-Hour Surgery And 80-Plus Stitches, Techie Now Battles Trauma

Bengaluru woman left with 80-plus stitches after pet rottweiler attack, family battles trauma while police investigate negligent owner.

More chilling details have come out in the Bengaluru pet dog attack case that left a 31-year-old woman with severe facial and neck injuries, as she continues to recover after undergoing nearly eight hours of surgery.
The incident took place on January 26 in Teachers’ Colony, HSR Layout, when Shalini Kumari Dubey, a techie and mother of a 17-month-old child, went out for her routine morning walk. A neighbour’s pet rottweiler allegedly on the road lunged at her within seconds.

The dog reportedly first bit the woman on her neck that pinned her on the ground and continued to attack her face, hands, and legs. Residents who rushed out of their homes to save her, met with further danger as one person who attempted to pull the dog away was also attacked in the process, the CCTV showed.

“Another cm and it could have been fatal”

While Shalini was immediately rushed to hospital, she has since received more than 80 stitches across her face, throat and head. One of the wounds, measuring 7 cm, was very close to her airway. “Another centimetre and it could have been fatal,” said her husband Satya Prakash Dubey as per a report by TOI. Doctors have warned the family that some of the scars could be permanent.

Though her physical condition has now come to a stable position, Shalini as per the family is struggling with anxiety and flashbacks and has started consulting a clinical psychologist. Her family says the emotional impact has been equally devastating.

“What troubles her most is not her own pain but her child,” Dubey was quoted as saying by TOI. “She keeps asking for her mother.” He added, “At night, she cries inconsolably.”
With Shalini in hospital, her kid is currently being cared for by her grandmothers. The child has lost close to 1 kg in weight and has not been breastfed since the attack.

“Irresponsible Ownership”

CCTV footage from the area shows the dog charging at Shalini the moment its owner opened the gate. “There was no chain, no muzzle, no safety measures,” Dubey said. Neighbours have claimed the dog had displayed aggressive behaviour earlier as well.
“This is not about dogs-versus-humans. This is about irresponsible ownership. My wife's life changed forever. No family should go through this,” Dubey said.
A police complaint was registered after the hospital flagged the case as medico-legal, and an FIR has been filed against the dog’s owner, N Amaresh Reddy, for negligence. Police said a legal notice has been served and the investigation is ongoing

Killed Husband For Waiter: New Details In Rajasthan Honeymoon Murder

Anjali, 23, from Sadulshahar in Sri Ganganagar district, married 27-year-old Ashish three months ago, and the match seemed perfect on paper.

Shock and gloom have shrouded two families, who knew each other well and had seen three marriages between their members, after a woman killed her husband with the help of her lover and his friends in Sri Ganganagar district - an incident that is now being called Rajasthan's honeymoon murder.

Anjali, 23, from Sadulshahar in the district, married 27-year-old Ashish from 1-KLM village, just 30 km from the Pakistan border, three months ago, and the match seemed perfect on paper. Ashish had completed his M.Sc in Geology and was pursuing a B.Ed degree. Anjali was pursuing an M.Com degree, and the icing on the cake was the close ties between her and Ashish's families.

As a child, Ashish was adopted by his uncle and aunt, who had no son of their own. They raised him lovingly and, a few months ago, his adoptive mother arranged his marriage with Anjali, who is her niece.

When NDTV spoke to them on Thursday, Ashish's family members recalled that Anjali seemed to be settling in with them well. They were, thus, even more distraught and stunned by what happened on January 30.

Anjali and Ashish went out on a walk with Ashish's cousin, Ankit, and his wife that evening. "We went towards the village for our usual walk. We normally don't take the deserted route. But Ashish dropped me and my wife home, and then, at Anjali's insistence, they took that route," Ankit said.

The family was later told that Ashish and Anjali were found unconscious in what was thought of as a hit-and-run. Ashish was declared dead at the community health centre, while Anjali, who said her gold jewellery had been stolen after the accident, kept flitting in and out of consciousness.

Injuries on Ashish's body, inconsistencies in Anjali's story, and a thorough investigation by the police, however, revealed that the death was not an accident, but a murder planned by the newly married woman. Anjali, it turned out, had rekindled her romance with her former boyfriend, Sanju, who worked as a waiter at wedding functions.

Sanju and two of his friends were hiding in the bushes along the road and, when Anjali and Ashish got there, they attacked him, strangled him and tried to pass off the killing as a road accident. Anjali gave her earrings to Sanju, lay down and pretended to be unconscious when the police arrived.

'Should Be Given Death Penalty'
At Ashish's village, people still remember the pomp with which the wedding was celebrated and are both shocked and angry. Ashish's father, Ramrakh, called for the death penalty for Anjali, while his mother was too inconsolable to speak.

"Anjali's behaviour always seemed normal. She mixed well with the family. After the murder, she pretended to be unconscious and didn't speak to us," Ramrakh recalled.

Rage rising in his voice, he continued, "We want her to be given the death penalty. Even her family agrees with us."

Anger And Shame

The atmosphere was not much better at Sadulshahar's Chhajgariya Mohalla, where Anjali's family has lived for about 40 years.

Anjali's father died 13 years ago, and she lived with her mother, two brothers and their wives. After her wedding to Ashish, she had returned home for some time on the pretext of studying for her M.Com degree.

Neighbours said Anjali had met Sanju in Sri Ganganagar city, about 30 km away, and the family may have known about their relationship. The marriage with Ashish, they suggested, could have been her family's way of making sure that she forgot about Sanju, but Anjali got in touch with him when she returned home after the wedding.

Anjali's uncle, however, vehemently denied the suggestion.

"We are devastated. We have been connected to this family for 50 years. Our customs are such that we ensure our daughters are married only into families known to us. Two of my sisters are also a part of that family. We had no idea about this relationship. We are deeply ashamed. If we had known, we would have died rather than allow this marriage to happen," he told NDTV.

"Anjali is my niece. Her father passed away about 13 years ago. We want Anjali and the three men to be given the death penalty. The way Ashish suffered and died... she should face the same punishment. She has destroyed us. We don't know how to face people," he rued.

'Unlikely Match'

Pointing out that Ashish's family was well-off and recalling seeing "a large number of fancy cars" during the wedding, neighbours also expressed surprise that Anjali chose to kill him to be with Sanju, who was not educated and barely made ends meet.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Police officials said Sanju lost his father a few years ago and has two brothers and two sisters. "He works as a waiter for caterers during weddings and other functions. He had no criminal record and, yet, carried out the murder with his friends Rohit, alias Rocky, and Badal," said an official.

What Ujjain Teen's Kidnapping, Recovery Reveal And Why It Stirred Concern

A 15-year-old girl, who went missing from the Chimanganj Mandi police station area of Ujjain, was recovered within 48 hours from Indore's Azad Nagar area, the police have confirmed.

Bhopal:
A case that began with a missing teenager in Ujjain has now exploded allegedly into a disturbing investigation stretching across cities, exposing what the family and right wing outfits describe as a carefully orchestrated chain of grooming, abduction and concealment.

A 15-year-old girl, who went missing from the Chimanganj Mandi police station area of Ujjain, was recovered within 48 hours from Indore's Azad Nagar area, the police have confirmed.

When she was found, the girl was wearing a burqa and was in the company of a boy.

Based on the victim's statement, rape charges have been registered, and police say the possibility of more accused being involved is strong.

According to the police, the girl left her home at 10:47 am on February 2, when her mother had gone to work. CCTV footage later revealed that a man named Moin following her on a scooter.

A short distance away from her home, the girl was allegedly made to sit on the scooter, marking the beginning of her disappearance.

Investigators say Moin dropped the girl near a tower, where her minor boyfriend was already waiting. From there, the two allegedly moved to the bus stand and travelled to Indore, eventually taking shelter in Azad Nagar, a densely populated locality.

When the girl did not return home, a missing person report was filed on February 3.

The police questioned family members, friends and suspects, and analysed mobile chats and technical data. Acting on these inputs, police recovered the girl from Indore on the evening of February 4.
Her statement under Section 164 CrPC is to be recorded before a magistrate. Medical examination and forensic reports are awaited.

What Happened Before

Investigation has revealed a troubling backstory.

About six months ago, a minor from Ahmednagar allegedly contacted the girl and trapped her in a love relationship. Later, the two reportedly drifted apart, but the accused allegedly kept one of his minor friends in touch with the girl.

Police say mobile chats indicate that some of the girl's own friends played a role in brainwashing her and maintaining contact, a development that could widen the net of accused.

The police have arrested the minor accused and one of his friends. Investigators say chats recovered from the girl's phone reveal that friends of them both helped in the abduction and concealment.
"Based on these findings, more names may be added to the case," police said.

When police questioned the accused after the rescue, shocking details emerged.

Investigators say the girl was hidden in a Muslim-majority area of Indore, at a relative's house, and made to wear a burqa to avoid identification. Police allege that after exploiting the girl, the main accused sent his friend Moin to abduct her and keep her concealed.

At the investigation stage itself, Hindu Jagran Manch termed the case a "grooming gang pattern" and alleged a larger conspiracy. Arjun Bhadauria of the organisation claimed that a Muslim friend and neighbour played a role in the systematic brainwashing, alleging that the girl was gradually prepared for exploitation.

"When a minor or vulnerable person is mentally prepared for sexual, emotional or economic exploitation in an organised manner by a group, it is called a grooming gang pattern," he said.

What The Police Said

The police, however, clarified that all allegations are being examined strictly on basis of evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
Pushpa Prajapati, a senior police officer, said as soon as it was confirmed that the girl was a minor, the police registered an FIR under Section 363 and acted immediately.

"The girl was recovered from Indore within 24 hours of the FIR. One accused has been arrested, and we are searching for the minor accomplice. Based on the victim's Section 164 statement and other evidence, action will be taken against all involved," she said.

The police confirmed that both accused are minors, and proceedings will continue under the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act. Legal action will also be taken against anyone who helped in abduction, concealment or escape.

Any person who came into contact with the accused during the 24 hours before recovery may also be accused in the case, and if evidence supports it, additional sections including the SC/ST Act may be invoked.

The victim's uncle said, "She is my niece and a minor. She went missing two days ago. With the help of the police, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena, we found her in Indore. When we found her, she was wearing a burqa. My niece's father passed away just a year ago. We demand the strictest possible action against all culprits."

The case has reignited debate amid alarming figures presented in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The Ujjain-Indore episode has once again brought the spotlight on the larger statewide pattern of such cases.

According to data presented in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the state has recorded 283 cases linked to alleged 'Love Jihad' between January 2020 and July 15, 2025.

Court records reveal a troubling judicial bottleneck -- 197 cases, nearly 70 per cent of the total are still pending in various courts across the state.

In the remaining 86 cases, where trials were concluded or settlements reached, the outcome exposes the fragility of prosecution. Fifty accused were acquitted, and only seven cases resulted in convictions, while one case ended in a mutual compromise.

‘Everything Seemed Normal, Until Tantrik...’: Man, Wife and 3 Kids Found Dead in Mathura Home; Suicide Note Emerges

A couple and their three minor children were found dead inside their home in Mathura’s Khapparpur village, with police suspecting mass suicide after recovering a note and a video.

A couple and their three minor children were found dead inside their home in Mathura's Khapparpur village on Tuesday (February 10), in what police believe may be a case of mass suicide. A suicide note, a message written on a wall and a video recorded by the head of the family have been recovered, though officials are yet to disclose the contents of the suicide note and the video as investigations continue.
Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said the deceased have been identified as Manish Kumar (35), a farmer, his wife Seema (32) and their three minor children - two daughters and a son.

"They were found dead inside a room of their house," he said, adding that “A suicide note was recovered from the spot, and another note was found written on the wall. In addition, a video recorded by the deceased on his mobile phone, in which he mentioned suicide, has also been found.”

According to reports, Manish first killed his wife and children and then died by suicide.

According to Manish's friend, everything in the family appeared normal until some time ago. However, around 2 years back, Manish came into contact with a tantrik and become superstitious, which may have played a role in the horrifying act.
In the video that has been recovered by the police, Manish can be seen writing on the walls of the house that he and his wife were dying by their own will and that the police should not harass anyone. However, the police are thoroughly investigating whether this was a case of collective suicide or one where murder was committed first, followed by suicide.

ADG Anupam Kulshreshtha talking to ANI said, "Manish's diary has also been recovered, wherein he has mentioned that no one else should be held responsible for this. He has written that he is doing this after becoming tired of the problems he faces. Police are gathering all the evidence. Looking at all the evidence and Manish's own video on his mobile phone, further action will be taken...Postmortem will make everything clear...All angles will be investigated."
The police said they received information about the incident from Manish Kumar's brother. When the children didn't come out in the morning to play, Manish's brother went inside the house after jumping the wall and broke open the door, and found his family members dead.
He was accompanied by other villagers, the SSP said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Gave Poison, Dumped Body in Field: Mother, Brother Kill Teen Daughter in UP Over Interfaith Relationship

In Uttar Pradesh, a mother and her son have been arrested for the alleged murder of her 19-year-old daughter, reportedly due to her relationship with a Hindu man. The incident took place in a field, and the victim was discovered dead on March 2. Following an investigation that included analyzing surveillance footage and call records, police determined that the duo had forced the daughter to ingest poison.

A woman and her son allegedly killed her 19-year-old daughter after they were angry over her relationship with a Hindu youth in Uttar Pradesh. Ghazipur police have arrested the mother and son duo for the alleged killing. The incident happened in a field outside the village, which falls under the limits of Ghazipur police station in Fatehpur district, according to a TOI report.
The accused mother is identified as 48-year-old Afsana and her son Afsar, 26, who were later arrested near Tikri turn village on Monday evening, when they were planning to escape.
The police found the body of the daughter, who was a resident of Paigampur Bakri village, under mysterious circumstances on March 2.

After the police found the body, they registered a complaint against unknown persons under Sections 103 (1) and 238 of the BNS, TOI reported.

How Police Caught the Mother and Son Duo?

As the investigation began, police checked the surveillance data and call detail records. They found that the mother and brother allegedly took Farzana to a pulses field and forced her to consume sulphas powder on the night of March 1 and 2.
After making her consume poison, they allegedly shifted her body to another field. The brother returned home, while the mother went to Fatehpur, TOI reported, citing the police officials.
On Saturday, the mother returned and approached the Ghazipur police regarding her daughter's death. When the police asked to file a complaint, the duo refused and said that they did not want any legal action.
The police later found that the mother and son were constantly in touch after leaving the crime scene, and officials began checking their call records. After the probe, they concluded that the girl was allegedly killed by her mother and brother, who were angry because of her relationship with a Hindu man, according to a TOI report.

Suicide Note Claims Kerala Teen Was Distressed Over Korean Friend's Death

In a purported suicide note, the teen is believed to have referred to emotional distress linked to the reported death of a Korean friend.

Suicide Note Claims Kerala Teen Was Distressed Over Korean Friend's Death

In a purported suicide note, the teen is believed to have referred to emotional distress linked to the reported death of a Korean friend.

Kochi:
Shocking cyber trail details have surfaced in the death of 16-year-old Aditya in Chottanikkara, with investigators widening their probe to examine the role of a shadowy Instagram account allegedly targeting minors.

Aditya left home on January 27 stating she was going to school but was later found dead in a quarry near her residence.

In a purported suicide note, she is believed to have referred to emotional distress linked to the reported death of a Korean friend.

However, investigators now say the case may extend beyond a personal tragedy, as they examine the possible influence of covert online networks.

At the centre of the probe is an Instagram account named 'Black Venom', which Aditya had been following.

Police sources said the account featured posts connected to Korean music bands and imagery that appeared designed to tap into teenagers' intense fascination with Korean pop culture.

The account reportedly had over 30 followers earlier, but those followers vanished after the girl's death, raising suspicions of coordinated activity.

Cyber forensic findings have added a troubling dimension to the investigation.

Police have found that students were bringing mobile phones to school in violation of norms and operating multiple Instagram accounts from a single device.

In one instance, eight Instagram accounts were discovered logged in on a phone sent for forensic examination.

Login details have since been secured, and many of the accounts were created under fake names, making traceability difficult.

Investigators suspect that minors may have been communicating through anonymous accounts in closed groups, possibly engaging in coded exchanges.

Authorities are probing whether organised cyber groups are psychologically influencing teenagers by circulating misleading or emotionally provocative content.

Tracking such accounts remains a significant challenge, officials said, as many operate through foreign servers or private modes.

Aditya, the only daughter of Mahesh, has become the face of a growing debate over the hidden dangers of social media and the urgent need for closer monitoring of teenagers' digital ecosystems.

Think of the worst way to die, and India will still manage to shock you with something even more horrific. An LKG girl was travelling in a dilapidated school bus. The bus jolted. A section of the already rotten floor collapsed. The child, Ananya, slipped through the gap, fell straight under the rear wheel, and was crushed to death on the spot. This was not some remote village van. This bus belonged to some Mount International School, Aligarh, supposedly a “reputed” private school. A school that allowed children to travel in a death trap.Look at the condition of the seats and the floor in the images. This very bus was issued a fitness certificate just 11 months ago.

Went Shopping in Bengaluru and Never Returned...: How Karnataka Man Planned His Wife's Murder

A Karnataka contractor allegedly murdered his wife over a financial dispute, buried her in their courtyard, and staged a 24-day search before police uncovered the truth.

A 24-day search drama staged by a contractor in Karnataka ended in a chilling revelation after police discovered his wife’s body from their house premises in Vijayapura district. Police said Prabhu Ratnakar, 46, murdered his wife Sarojini, 45, on January 24 and buried her in the courtyard of their home in Devara Hipparagi town. He then allegedly pretended to search for her to avoid suspicion and even filed a missing person’s complaint on February 2, claiming his wife had left home on January 24 for shopping and never returned.
According to a report by Indian Express, police registered a missing case and began investigating. However, tracking Sarojini’s mobile phone revealed that it remained inside the house.

“We found out that Ratnakar was in severe debt and there were cheque bounce cases. But Ratnakar was also searching for his wife relentlessly. He had hired a car and gone to Bengaluru searching for Sarojini. We were in touch with the car driver to understand the locations where he was searching for Sarojini,” said a police officer as quoted by Indian Express report.

Investigators later discovered that while in Bengaluru, Ratnakar stayed in lodges and did not step out to search. “The driver passed us information frequently, raising suspicion,” the police officer said. Suspicion was further fueled when Ratnakar failed to attend the funeral of Sarojini’s ailing father on February 14. He was taken into custody for questioning and eventually confessed.

Murder And Burial In Courtyard

According to police, the couple argued on January 23 after Ratnakar asked Sarojini for money to resolve a financial crisis. “When she refused, he hit her with a wooden log, and Sarojini died instantly. At the time, their son, Puttaraju, was sleeping in the house. Ratnakar had already dug a small portion of land within the compound to plant some plants, and he scooped out more mud and buried Sarojini’s dead body in the pit,” the police officer said as reported by Express report.
“It is just a 5×3 feet space where the body was buried. It was exhumed and handed over to Sarojini’s family members. Based on the complaint filed by Sarojini’s mother, Kamalavva Maleppa Melinamani, the police have registered a murder case at Devara Hipparagi police station, and investigations are underway,” said the officer.

A tragic incident occurred in Hyderabad where a 38-year-old software engineer and her two teenage children died after jumping in front of a goods train, likely as part of a suicide pact.

Hyderabad: A 38-year-old software engineer and her two teenage children died after jumping in front of a goods train near Cherlapally in Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday. Police suspect the deaths were the result of a suicide pact.

The loco pilot, Sushain Mahto, immediately alerted railway authorities after witnessing the incident.

Police Confirm Suicide Angle
Officials from the Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and confirmed the deaths. GRP inspector B Saieashwar Goud said initial findings point towards suicide.

“Preliminary evidence indicates the victims died by suicide. The precise motive is still under investigation,” he said.

Police found Vijaya’s car parked near Cherlapally railway station and recovered a suicide note allegedly written by her. The note was addressed to her mother.
