Match Report
Wasim Akram began with two wides in his first three deliveries but soon asserted the dominance that was to be vital in Pakistan's brief visit. His career-best one-day figures of five for 19 took his team to their sixth successive one-day victory over New Zealand.

Pakistan scored at barely three an over on a new, two-paced pitch, with damp conditions helping the ball to swing; New Zealand lasted just 39.3 overs. For the first time in New Zealand a third umpire, Brian Aldridge, was appointed to observe proceedings on a television monitor but he had no decisions to make.

This was one of six 5-wicket hauls that Wasim took during his ODI career.
