Pakistan should look for a draw by trying to score at least 300 runs at 2.5, runs per over. That will waste a lot of time. That should be the plan now. Waste time.
Dont think that will help much , nz will still have two more days. They can bat for 60 70 overs and put pakistan in. Pakistan will need to bat for more than 150 overs to have any chance at a draw.Pakistan should look for a draw by trying to score at least 300 runs at 2.5, runs per over. Could draw this if they bat sensibly and according to the conditions.
That was bad luck for Shan, terrible way to get out.
Azhar, fawad and haris are all snail like plodders. So if they do that for next 2 days we may get away with a drawn match here.

Thats test match... Thats how they shpild play in test.
Am not complaining if they if the bat like that here. They need to put a high price on there wickets and graft hard here.
That would be nice, tire there bowlers is the way to go. Someone in pak side needs to make a century and in the current 11 no one is capable in NZ.

New Zealand left-arm seamer Neil Wagner will undergo an X-ray after being struck on the right foot while batting in the ongoing Test against Pakistan at Mount Maunganui.
Neil Wagner was hit during the third session of the second day’s play. He was checked by the physio and given medication.
I’m pretty hopeful... hoping against hope.

The general thought process is see out the first hour and then you should be good. Day 3 is usually a good day for batting as is most of day 4.
The plot thickens.
Now I think it was a good decision by Pak to bowl first.
Two days have been played and NZ still need 19 Pakistani wickets to win the test. The wicket is pretty good to bat on and day 3 is usually the best day for the willow wielders. If Pak top order show some application, they can get away with a draw here.

Batting sensibly is the most important part. Abbas should not try to get out early, as we need him to just defend everything and blunt the new ball. It doesn't matter if he's 10 from 99, we just need to get rid of the shine because the overcast condition. This will allow our middle order to get maximum profit from the pitch and also score runs and last the conditions without losing wickets, because when the second new ball comes, we need as many wickets as possible to at least score around 400.
Looking at the second match, Naseem should be dropped for Amad Butt. If it's a flat pitch, I might be tempted to play Wahab Riaz as an express pacer, but I don't like the move too much because he hasn't had any game time in recent times. Should have had another quick like Shinwari on the tour.
Exactly my thought hopefully that’s the message he gets. It’s that first hour and then you are golden.
Fully agree with you. Naseem needs to get dropped so that he can analyze his game and take a break...Batting sensibly is the most important part. The aim should be to bat 5 sessions. Maybe 6 if you are made of steel.
It won’t happen though I reckon, but greater miracles have happened in this beautiful game
