[VIDEO] Sarfaraz Ahmed - Support Thread

Lets hope this joke doesn't ruin all the good work tomorrow :facepalm:

A repeat of the Asad and Adnan partnership would be ideal where they batted it out in the morning session.

The idea scenario will be to Asad to get 150 and Sarfraz to play a cameo of 30-40. But can he do it?

he scored 93 in 1st pratice match when younis and other failed. dont blame our domestic bowlers.
he also scored alot of runs when he was sent to australia with pakistan A.

its just that he somehow gets too nervous. He was shaking when asad was on 99 so just imagine what would he be doing when he is batting himself.
 
If he had ran out asad shafiq, everyone would have gone crazy. I don't like what I have seen from Sarfaraz so far (with the bat). You can't afford to have a wicketkeeper, that is essentially a tail end batsmen, the tail is long enough already!!
 
Sarfraz should play at number 11 and his average is testament to that.

and what about the all mighty experienced azhar ali who played such a tail ender shot today to throw away his wicket, there was nothing special about that morkel delivery, azhar might as well needs to come behind umar gul :))

Azhar has a 150 to his name, a score Sarfraz will need 75 matches to match at the current rate.

thats what i say , azhar who has loads of experience of making 150s, is behaving as a tail ender whose current positions comes under umar gul

sarfraz prime job is keeping and till now he is doing well

You are still living in the 80's. Nowadays, it is a must of Wk to be good with the bat for that very reason, :sahmed is the worst Wk batsman in the world.

he must be underpressure with Adnan scoring couple of hundreds and and few 80s in the top domestic tournament with Rizwan Ahmed also leading the table..

It was not a tough one but a thick edge, commentator said, Sarfraz should have bend slightly.
 
if he can't take those and bats like a tailender..then I'd rather have Kami lol
 
Kamran used to drop "sitters" like those that come straight into gloves and straight out, not tough chances.

As for Batting, I agree he hasn't excelled in SAF conditions yet, but you need to consider one thing, from what I recall, each time he has come into bat to face New ball against SAF pace attack. NOBODY in our line-up has been able to survive that 10-20 over new ball period, even batsmen who were already at 50+ (misbah/shafiq first test) or 100+ (Younis/Shafiq 2nd test) have NOT Been able to survive that period.

Once that period is over, ball is older / bowling changes, things become much easier to bat and that is why even tanvir/ajmal were able to have a good partnership. I bet if Tanvir/Ajmal were there since last night, dont think they could have survived the night/morning new ball spell (that would be like expecting them to be better than shafiq/younis when 100+!!!)
 
I don't know why he is targeted so badly ALONE, when everyone is failing against the new ball. Blame others as well who can't play the new ball.
 
I am be first one to admit that he has been really poor with the bat, but it apply to others as well against the new ball.
 
In all 3 of his innings, he has had to face a new/semi-new ball against the best bowling attack in the world. His series average of 7 is not a lot worse than Hafeez 8.3, Azhar 11.6 and Jamshed 17.

atleast put things in perspective before hating him blindly !
 
He faces bowlers who are 60 overs tired.

I would forgive his batting if his keeping was neat but he has got no clue which way Ajmal's bowl is gonna spin.

Since Ajmal is our best bowler, Sarfraz has to make way.

So,very good analysis....

But i have another perspective how much more has he scored compared to Gul,Tanvir,Ajmal ?
 
the guy drops a little difficult but takeable catch oh no , that was a tough!! the guy can't bat, oh see, he's a perfect keeper!

now he was facing new ball every time that's why his batting failed!!:)))

Ok,i found it

Ajmal is averaging 16.5>7

Gul is averaging 7.66>7

Tanvir is averaging 44>7

Junaid is averaging 17>7

Thank God Irfan is averaging 6<7

So,better admit that he has not done enough so far....And needs to score some runs in remaining innings to keep Adnan out

Adnan will repace him, if does not preform in the next three innings. That has to be said.

Kamran wasn't dropped for Sarfraz..it was Adnan Akmal.
 
meray bhai, you are missing the point about the key period of facing the new ball, read my post about batsmen 50+ / 100+ even not being able to survive that. later conditions are easier with syen/philander off / ball older.

and your point about those tailender averages.... welll then based on that, why dont you play tanvir, ajmal and junaid as your top 3 instead of hafeez, jamshed and azhar. [ you won't right ??? i hope so, NOW do you understand what it means facing new ball against steyn/philander in first 0-20 overs????]

This I agree with. In fact, this should be "expected" anyway unless he was going to do something super special, as in the eyes of selectors he was not our number 1 choice and picked due to Adnan "being injured".

So I wouldn't be surprised if Adnan is back in next series.

I actually felt sorry for Adnan at that dropping of his, it was not right at least from what I could tell he was playing domestic and scoring, so presumably fit. Though he wasn't the "best batsman" among the keepers in domestic, he was develping into a fighter after being with team for a while. It was unjustified to drop him all of a sudden (unless ofcourse he "really" was injured.

and is that the first time? it can happen to any batsman in a particular series where a bowler has done better. Didnt we had Gul as a the best batsman of the tour of England 2010 for quite sometime until Azhar took over, he still averaged the best IIRC

based on above 2 i agree look like sitters, 1 was not a catch/edge. 2 not sure based on comments only if sitters or not.

i am not even going to try to identify Kamran's drops, as there is another thread with that already. all i know is if Sarfraz kept the way he did in Aus in 3rd test and played in 2nd Test, perhaps we may have won that game. perhaps same could have been true for WC game vs NZL. one or two drop here and there happens to many keepers and "usually" doesn't "heavily" influence the result of the game.

In Kamran's case the number/type of drops in some games have a "significant" impact on the games.

bottomline is I am not a die-hard Sarfraz fan, I am not a Kamran Hater, but I don't think its fair to say Sarfraz keeping-wise only is worse than Kamran.

Because we have people on PP paid by fixer Akmals to support them on PP and talk crap about their rivals.
 
His keeping hasn't been bad to be fair. But his batting is horrible :facepalm:

Adnan is definitely the better option but I have high hopes from Rizwan.

Sarfraz should be given next test.

His keeping against fast bowling is excellent but it's pretty clear he is useless in SC where ball is spinning even more.
 
As for Kamran, too bad he is not selector or all 11 players would have been dropped long ago.

Utter bakwas....You brought up Jamshed and Azhar's stats into discussion not me....

Is it bias-ness that Sarfraz needs to score some runs to keep his place in the side....??:facepalm:
 
Pakistan is a team where our top 6 batsmen are mediocre, we need run support from the lower order especially from the keeper. If we would have top 6 like SA, we can adjust a below mediocre batsman keeper. and top class keeper.

With the current scenario, I would get a keeper with better bat and below average wicket keeping ability. Unfortunately, Sarfarz is mediocre keeper and below average batsman.

the way he's going he is going to surpass Kami soon in terms of drop catches or miss stumpings but too bad he can't come up with match winning/saving innings to make up for them..

anyway you are getting me wrong..I'm not saying Kami should be brought back in tests..Adnan was already settled..was a top wk and a decent batsman..Would you have dropped Adnan for Sarfraz ahead of this series??

bakwas for you may be but I've stated facts. This is his first test series against world no.1 team on probably the toughest tracks you'll see today. Our recognized batsmen Hafeez & Azhar are at 6s and 7s. How fair it is now to evaluate his batting performances solely on 3 innings he has played?

I mean people are talking about recalling Umar Amin, another player with huge potential but lest we forget he had a forgettable tour of England 2010. And he is a recognized batsman !

Sarfraz has struggled on placid pitches against mediocre bowling in ODIs. He seriously has batting issues at international cricket.

Doesn't remotely look like a batsman who averages 40+ in FC.
 
^he has been alright, not great but not poor either. He did scored a match-saving 50 in the Asia Cup. All I'm saying is that atleast wait for the entire series before passing judgement. Our entire batting lineup is struggling right now so there is no point in picking up on the new guy !

I also stated facts from the same source from where you got....

Hafeez was also terrible in Windies,Newzealand,it is nothing new for him..

When i say that he needs to score runs in coming innings,it means he will be evaluated after the series...as it will be tough for him to retain his place without scoring..... because selectors told that Adnan was injured or had not been selected as he lacked match practise and missed President Trophy matches..but now he is playing and performing as well...

And Umar Amin was dropped because of poor performance and still has not been recalled despite being the top run getter this season because of that performance...So,it shows you the importance of performance and Sarfraz must perform now...Anyways,I could never understand why he was/is rated so highly...
 
^and that is precisely the point I'm trying to make. Even if Sarfraz is dropped after the series (which could well be his fate), it doesnt mean he is hopeless and can comeback from domestic performance like Umar Amin !

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In domestics he has even better average than Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq. But in internationals he looks totally different. Next please.

that's what my point is..Adnan shouldn't have been dropped unless Sarfraz was very very good batsman which isn't the case..Adnan could have done better with the bat than Sarfraz.
 
Kami esque drop but luckily AB didn't edge or was just in the crease but poor stuff again from a perfect keeper..:)
 
He's nothing special. I don't see him have any thing good in his batting. Bring in Adnan for next test
