After helping the national cricket team clean up its act this past year, it seems captain Sarfraz Ahmed now wants his players to clean up after themselves.

During the ongoing training camp at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, several of the national team stars were seen gathering empty water bottles and disposing them off — apparently at Sarfraz's command.

The general tradition in sports is for the rookies and newcomers to perform menial tasks. But duties under Sarfraz's regime are shared, and so newbies such as Imamul Haq and Haris Sohail, and stars such as Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir all pitched in, helping clean up the Gaddafi Stadium.

The national training camp for the twin tours of England and Ireland kicked off today, with 15 of the 16-man squad taking part. The sole absentee was Mohammad Abbas who is currently playing country cricket.

Good stuff. Setting a good example for his team mates. Recycling waste and keep earth clean should be the responsibility of everyone.

This is great, all members of the team should be seen as equals. No one is bigger than the team or each other.

this is normal stuff; everybody takes care of his own things; why we should praise Sarfraz for this?

Because the 'norm' was not the 'norm' for Pakistani cricketers.

Sarfaraz is just Bringing Norm Back

And if everybody in Pakistan ACTUALLY cleaned up after themselves, then my friend our country would not be so littered :)

Class from Sarfaraz, really like this type of humble team culture.

Now to a more serious question, since when are Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir considered "stars" of the team? They still have a lot to prove before they can be labeled as stars.

It was never the norm for any cricketers tbh. I've seen plenty of training sessions, where most of the clean up (Removal of bottles, equipment etc) is done by back room staff or the young county lads around.

Having said that, as nice as this sounds, there is a fine line between Sarfraz as a captain and as a father lol

I wouldnt mind if Saffy was like this with everyone but he clearly isn't and never said a word to the likes of KP and Watson during his captaincy. It annoys me.

That Watson and KP line is so idiotic

He's with them for a couple of weeks a year, where as he spends half the year with the Pakistani team (that's not counting the time he spends with then in PSL and domestic) - including traveling with them, spending time with their families and sharing the same language and background

Incredibly idiotic to say "he doesn't do the same to KP and Watson, he must be a fraud"

Literally every Pakistani in the Western world behaves differently with their Pakistan friends / colleagues than they do with non-desi's

Very hard to believe Sarfraz is actually Pakistani. He seems like an gentle Englishman by this. Good act by him!

Dont even know why this is news.

Sadly, in our society, the saying "clean up after yourself" doesn't really apply.

Thus, actions such as these make the news. The culture of being a senior or rich in Pakistan means that this type of stuff is not done by either (not saying everyone in Pakistan is like this).

I'm not talking about behaviour among friends or work colleagues. I'm talking about a man who is a captain, shrieks like a madman at his young players and then watches, repeatedly, as KP fails to even bend down to stop a rolling ball.

A captain has to be a leader of men. It would be like saying a manager in an organisation only disciplines workers from one background but not those from another for the same mistakes (since you started real world examples).

Plus, as a British Pakistani, I personally treat everyone equally, or try my best to.

He behaves like a gentleman and displays class here but when it really matters on the field, he throws tantrums at the same players and keep running to the bowlers screaming and shouting at them for every bad ball they bowl. Strange him!

Strange that Pakistanis still haven't understand Sarfraz.
If only he had looks, Mba degree or English with an accent he would be understood!
