Doesn't he remind you of Muhammad Amir from 2009/2010. Tallish, paper-thin, lanky left-armer with quick whippy action. Oh Amir what have you done :sree

Those bats :O

Its like the bats you would see at the back of a junior school sports cupboard! I wonder how successful a lot of batsmen today would have been had they had to use those sticks!

That action needed a tweaking by Aqib Javed :kapil

Today's batsmen seem more technically sound as well. Not going for expansive flick to yorkers.

Amir is not 6'2 he's 6'1 while Waz was around 6'3 ish.....

you sure?

im like 5'10 and he was hardly a inch taller than me unless he grw 3 inches during ban

doesnt strike as a tall guy

Amir is 6'2...Waz is the same height maybe an inch taller.

So I googled Amir's height, and he is 1.88m, while Wahab Riaz is 1.87m, how is that even possible when its clear on camera Wahab is much taller than Mohammad Amir...

Clearly someone has got his height wrong

Actually Wahab is 1.85m, so clearly a great discrepancy exists in the height of Amir and Wahab...

I thought that too when I saw the footage, but I reckon that was Wasim deceiving them on length. I think everyone who played against Wasim pretty much agreed that it was his quickness through the air that made it so difficult for batsmen to judge how to play him.

I've met both Wasim Akram and Mohammad Amir.

And Wasim is around 4 inches taller: 6'3 compared to 5'11.

It makes a huge difference with the old ball in terms of the area of the pitch where it is a safe line and length to pitch the ball without being driven off the front foot or cut off the back foot.

At Amir's height, the safe area to land the ball is the size of an iPhone.

At Waz's height it is the size of a 15 inch laptop.

Pre ban Amir was better then this just watch a spell on YT he bowled to Watson and Ponting incredible to watch.

Syed thank you for sharing this.

I second IK. Amir at same age was more talented, equipped, skilled and fast than Wasim Akram. IK himself is a huge fan and admirer of Wasim so he gave this opinion Soch samajh k.

Amir will never ever be the same as he was in 2009-2010. If he had not got banned at that time than He would have become more scary fast swing bowler and by now He would have been surely World number 1 Odi bowler and probably world number 2 Test bowler.

I am a huge Amir fan but I have realised it critically that Amir will never be the same again. He will never be able to revive that action. He was 19-20 unofficially when he got banned and he had not bowled enough for his action to be memorised by his body. 6 years of No Cricket at all and now his length isn't what used to be (due to action), pace isn't similar (action + fitness issues), isn't getting similar bounce as before, 16 odd months since he is back and apart from inswinger to RHB he isn't able to ball a single seam up delivery which goes with the angle or slightly moves away from RHB. So he has to bowl a mini cutter and all good batsman pick it more often than not while in 2009-2010 batsman were unsure of which way the ball is going and they had to poke at it without much conviction. Than his right shoulder movement ensured big booming late inswing which was deadly. Now he doesn't get that late prodigious swing unless weather is too swing friendly and the ball is dukes only.

Still he is our best pacer but not what he used to be. He will not be able to have a better average & strike rate than Wasim Akram in either Tests or Odi's by the time he retires. This is an analysis not a Godly verdict. Hope it backfires.

That is the key point in your post which highlighters that the odds are not in Amir's favour unfortunately but like you say it's not a godly verdict and far from completely impossibly to rectify his issues and go back to being who he was but will be very very challenging. But even then, I still appreciate the current version and he can be world class and finish as a Pakistani legend but not the all time great we expected.

Wasim seems to be lot more pacier and already had a better yorker than Amir. Also that fast arm action of Wasim makes him even more dangerous.

Amir is 6'2"? He looks more like 5'10 or something.

Who is the guy at 1:53 in the video? A Caribbean player in Pak colors?
