He bowls well on slower wickets but finds it difficult to bat.

Hopefully they Caribbean wickets have pace when we bat and then slow down dramatically when it's time to bowl.

yup this would be a main concern.

For a guy who bats well on quick wickets, he can become abit problematic in WI. I could only hope the wickets of USA are pacy for Ifti to stand any chance.

Misbah ul Haq and chacha, I don't see a difference lol
 
Iftikhar's performance is crucial for Pakistan to have any chance at World cup. He did well in PSL and a poor series should not be enough to drop him. Pakistan lacks genuine hitters and he is among very few in Pakistan who has performed against top sides at crucial times. His bowling is a bonus. It will be foolish to drop him now. Those clamoring for his removal should also name his replacements.

Moreover, Iftikhar should never bat at 5 or above. He is 27 (9) type batsman instead of 50 (30). We made same mistake with Misbah. I know he failed in one game at that role in this series but that is rare.

Yeah he needs to be persisted with.

I did have the belief that he should bat up the order. Sometimes takes time to settle in but l don't think he himself considers himself to be a top order batter.

The problem is he is a sitting duck against spin. He needs to learn to rotate strike against the spinners and just get to the other side.

No! Enough is Enough! Enough chances, bad New Zealand tour and fluke PSL and now Bad performance against New Zealand Junior team??? You want to give him a shot a WC. Bhai Thn bring in a junior Grade 10 pass from Pakistan and give him a chance too. This is just pathetic. That u keep giving chance to this useless guy and he doesn’t perform. He is a flop.

He had more chances Thn Asif ali and Khushdil. Why aren’t we bashing him like we did to Asif ali and khusdil. People paying him more respect because he has a name Chacha and one day he will hit a 100 against a top team. Which won’t happen. He is a useless player, he belongs in a local tape ball team

Bazid khan doesn't know what he is talking about when he says that Ifti should bat higher up. Pakistan is not blessed with Maxwell or Stoke type players but you can make up for that through smart resource allocation. Iftikhar should always bat after the 15th over. Shadab should always bat ahead of him against spinners. We can even promote Shaheen, Usama or Aamir Jamal (if playing) against spinners in middle overs. Teams do that in PSL but we somehow hesitate in T20Is.

They won't. Reason why chacha did good today was for the same reasons that I highlighted to another poster.

Chacha is very very very freakishly good at playing medium pacers. Infact he's better then both babar and rizwan at playing medium.

However he's too slow reaction wise to play against pace and clueless against spin.

He functioned against Nepal cause they all have medium pacers and the curators of the pitch deliberately designed the pitch to neutralise lamichane for fraud e azam.

Today he came when spin wasn't their and Ireland only has medium pacers in their unit, although the difference between Ireland and Nepal is that Ireland can swing and has better line and length in general.

Iffi is still happy about his performance even though the fielding was worst and he himself dropped a catch and gave some free runs in the outfield.

if it’s not a win, nothing counts no matter what. Even if he had hit 10 sixes - 60 run(Chacha’s khwabooon main) his performance will still be 🥚. To him he perform so Pakistan loses

He will come good.

He is one of the few players in Pakistan with raw strength and hitting ability.
 
Iftimania isn't a proper batsman, he isn't a bowler, he isn't the alleged finisher, why does he keep getting selected after all his failures?! It's an absolute joke.

I think we should move on from him now. Iffi had a great chance to dismantle the Irish bowling line-up easily in that small grounds but he was no good. Taking things for granted I guess.

In fact make chacha the captain as well. Let him lead this team to victory, Shabash shabash.

Agha should have been tried earlier.

For now we have invested on Chacha. He has a clear vision and goal to win us the WC. This mission has been delegated to him personally by the Chairman PCB ( interior ministry) so it's one of National importance.

We can try Salman ali in the England series. He can do good. He is not a new comers, he has international experience so why not try him so we can have a back up for iffi if needed.

If Chacha is suddenly and surprisingly dropped it will probably be Usman Khan or Shadab Khan who take up his role. I don't think Agha will make the cut for this WC but he is a decent player and will definitely be eyeing up the spot when Ifti retires after the 2030 WC.

Both usman and shadab are not fit for that role. Only Salman can fit that role. Not talking about dropping him from the WC squad, just 2 games if not more on england tour.

Why not drop chacha? What even is his purpose? He's not a lower order batsmen, he's not an allrounder and he's not a middle order bat? And he isn't an opener? And he a dinosaur who probs is order then Imran khan and was probably playing domestics since the kapil dev era.

Management could have tried Haris in place of Iftikhar... he is good enough to play the last 2 to 3 overs.
 
Iftikhar Ahmed has been acquired by Dambulla Thunders for 50k USD for the upcoming season of Lanka Premier League.

The finisher might finish this franchise as well.
