Not really if no one else is getting a chance. They could bring in someone like SAG or Haris and move Shadab or Imad down the order if not selecting like for like. Ifti doesn't even have the reflexes to hit full tosses and probably can't see the ball in time.

Guy is a total dud, hope he gets booted and never to be seen again.

But who? We have seen the others and at this point in time they are average to awful. There is no silver lining, we are in a bad way and as I said before this isn't a player issue, more of an institutional issue with a corrupt board, run by corrupt people

Absolutely anyone is better than these fake allrounders.

Pakistan literally lost to a USA team made up techies who play cricket part time. Pakistan is already at the rock bottom, why not be brave and look to the future instead of these fraudsters.
 
I think Iftikhar should take a guard of honour in the match against Ireland and retire, as he is too old to play this game now.
 
One of the most hated cricketers going around now to be honest. It's not just the batting, it's his all-round persona that makes you want to punch his old face in that cowboy hat. That's his takeaway from yet another world tournament.

When the hell has he been okay? Bar off that one match against Nepal (!) he has failed in every match. This age fudger fraudster made his debut in 2016 and has never played an impactful innings. That's now his third World Cup where he has failed miserably. I just don't know what to say about the whole matter anymore...
 
Hr has been the biggest disappoinment. He came in the side through performances. Not just in PSL but in domestic Cricket before that. He had loads of experience as a List A and FC batter.

He was good when he came in the side. Performed well in WT20 2022.

Only explanation is that age has caught up with him and he needs to be bid farewell.
 
I have said it before and I will say it again... Players like iftikhar deserves treatment like khushdil shah.... Until and unless the people doesn't take matter into their hands this pathetic piece of crap will keep on embarrasing pakistan.
 
Barbers fall from grace is going to be a tough one for him - I think his going to struggle to make the team after this….

But just because Misbah whispered some sweet little nothings about him, all of the misbaholics (of which there are many) believed in this joke.

He can hit the odd monster 6 yes. But it takes him an age to do it eating up dots after dots. He has a ceiling and it’s about 3 feet tall.

How the hell did anyone believe he can be a “finisher”. Stop overusing these cliches.

We don’t have pinch hitters, we don’t have finishers, we don’t even have world class accumulators. We have absolutely nothing.

What did you expect from a guy who fudged his age by not just a few years but probably a whole 10 years?! Guy already looked like he was in his mid 30s when I saw his test debut at the Oval in 2016. He was rubbish then and is rubbish now.

In 2024, you cannot get away with crap like this, just the way you cannot get away by playing an overweight toddler who cannot control his appetite. Forget having a broken domestic cricket structure, if you select players like Chacha and Azam, you have no chance
 
Does anyone know what Ifti’s connections are? It doesn’t seem like he’s from any sort of influential background, I doubt he has any political connections given his Pashtun background, what’s the reason for his repeated selection? I don’t believe he hangs with Babar’s crew either, I just don’t get it. He’s a random guy who just keeps getting selected and has played 100 matches for Pakistan without any substantial innings. On top of that he’s in his mid 40’s.

biryani and food goes from his and my friend who lives in his neighborhood said that selectors usually come over to his house. I told him to take picture next time but I doubt it will approve for privacy reaso.

If that was true, you would be doing that 24/7 because you are wrong 100% of the time but admit it 10% of the time.

On paper, he is younger than Jadeja and Kohli, and the same age as Surya and KL.
 
These are his stat based on different levels of competition. In multi team tournaments he doesn't do well. Mostly does well in bilaterals. Ofcourse 2 fifties were crucial in 2022 for him in the world T20. Outside those innings he hasn't done much.

As **** as he is, at least he slugs it out in domestic takes part in the 40 over comp etc. which can’t be said about the rest.
 
Babar dropped Iftikhar the finisher for Saim Ayub against Canada, how do you guys see this change?
 
I've said it somewhere on this forum, that this should be the final tournament for Iftikhar Ahmed.

Regardless of what the form is like, it's time to blood through someone like Qasim Akram. Would love to see what Gary could do with Qasim, however on Ifti, he is done.

Been saying it since I saw him at the Oval make his debut in 2006...was an average player then and has gone from bad to worse...two good games in in 8 years...that's not a good return
 
Has to retire he’s 50 odd and reflexes are shot. But won’t be suprised if he carries on playing for pakistan colours for another 5 years
 
Salman Butt in a recent interview pointed out following flaws in Iftikhar's technique:

“Iftikhar, I don’t know maybe there is definitely something to do with the reflexes because at his age, you have to be super fit or otherwise your movements, they get slow. He is not a very young chap, he is quite an experienced player,”

“He has been playing cricket for a long time, he has played domestic for so long. He made his debut for Pakistan in 2016 and it is 2024 now. So maybe his fitness and time, as he has spent a lot of time [playing cricket], things have gone slower for him and there are very limited options,"

"He was a proper batsman who used to play at middle-order but now he comes to bat when there are just three to four overs left and he only has one movement, he goes deep into the crease and wants to hit every shot on the leg side or maybe straight,"

"His arc towards the off stump is very limited and I think that the teams have picked that. The way he stands, his options are already limited and as soon as he does his initial movements, as a bowler you’d know where you have to bowl him,"
 
So now Shadab is a specialist batsman picked over Ifti and Azam lol . This is a sad state of cricket. It doesn't matter if these guys are not performing but they should be persisted and be on the playing 11 in this WC. It's not that we have a whole lot to pick from.
 
They dont use their own social medias, its handled by some marketing agency

Agreed. You can't pick Shadab as a batter ahead of Saim, Azam, Iftikhar or any specialist batter. Pakistan must have at least 6 proper batters because against India, our batting lineup was so weak where Imad and Shadab played at number 5 and 6 which proved to be not good enough.

Ifthikhar is not a batsmen! Bring me any match beside Psl or against nepal we won cause of Chacha or Chacha took us to victory with his batting! Batsmen naam ka hai! But batting atty nahy so why his fans are over hyping him as a batsmen!

I don't think anybody here will be his fan like a proper fan of Iftikhar. Not having a replacement in this current squad is a different thing.

The way he was performing, he deserved to be dropped but his replacement was equally bad.
 
Do you know how sad it is when we had likes of Shahid Afridi and Razzaq when T20 was fairly new and since then instead of us having clones of them or even better, we end up with likes of Iftikhar etc.

The decline in the spin and a finishing batsman/all-rounder has been crazy.

IF the replacement is as bad as Azam khan, then i will pick iffi again but I think we have enough replacement in domestics now. Salman will walk straight away into the side today.

Forget Afridi or Razzaq, he's not even a poor man's Hafeez or Malik...for someone who has been through the many ups and very few ups of Pakistan cricket since the early 90s, it baffles me that this player has played for 8 years and has performed only once or twice and yet he's had so many fans!
 
Sadly.or luckily it's game over for Iftimania , USA made him a member of suplex City and India gave him Sweet chin music
 
NGL I missed seeing Chacha on the field yesterday.

If we are out of the WC ( i.e if today gets rained off or US win) then I hope Chacha gets a big farewell against Ireland.

He became ( for a short time) one of the biggest brand in T20 cricket worldwide.

I look forward to his youtube channel - Chat with Chacha or Chai with Chacha ( both names are my own suggestions, no idea what the official channel will be called).
