Great away/neutral bully and great World Cup stats. Thoughts?

And we didn't play him in our 2 most important ODIs of last 3 years, ICCCT final and WC SF!

Starc is the best ODI bowler at the moment. Just watch him bowl his next 10 overs now, he will leak 18 runs and take 6 wickets with 4 maidens.

Lol at Indians desperately seeking praise for their Team on a Pakistan Forum. Listen India is great team at the moment but nowhere near the great Aussie and Windies team of the past. Shami is India's best bowler in both Test's and ODI's.

Amazing bowler. Has one of the most beautiful runup I've ever seen. Mental that he wasnt picked in the WC semifinal.

Shami is class.

World Cup 5fer for him tonight.
He’s one of the greatest ever World Cup performers

Shami is a true fighter; what a gem he is.
Now, it's a headache for selectors to decide between Siraj and Shami

He is right up there , the way he shapes up the ball on most surfaces , this man has come a long way starting from playing Ranji for Bengal. Very good seam position , and outstanding control !!!

Mohammad Shani's childhood coach and mentor Mohammed Badruddin providing insight to the star bowler's work ethic:

"There is nothing else in Shami's life apart from cricket. When he is not playing for India, he is always thinking about upgrading his skills. When he took a break during West Indies tour earlier this year, he had already started thinking about World Cup."He regularly practised at the ground he has built here in the village with his own money," t

"The best part about this current Indian team is the kind of communication it has had with senior players. Shami always knew that he would be required at some point in time and for that he was always prepared."He knows these conditions and you can see that he has been using a lot of cross-seam deliveries. Trust me, hours of practice has gone into perfecting that art," Badruddin said.

"Shami has invested his own money to build a full-size cricket facility and there are three strips on which he bowls. One is a completely flat deck where one needs to bowl the hard lengths, one track where there is a sprinkling of grass and bald patches and other where the ball grips."He creates situations for himself and prepares accordingly, it's not just about converting his own farmland into a cricket ground but he also constructed floodlights so that he can bowl with the white ball at nights."

"He wanted to do well in IPL and you can see his performances for Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons. He would bowl with wet balls under lights to replicate the dew factor, practice those change of pace deliveries. We would get good U-19, U-23 boys, who would face Shami in nets."Paise sabhi kamate hain and lekin apne bahtari ki liye aapko paisa kharcha bhi karna padhta hai. (You can earn money but you have to invest also to upgrade your skills)."We all want that BCCI uses this facility created by Shami for its age-group games. It is a full size ground as per board specifications," Badruddin said. The legendary Andy Roberts, in his various interviews, has spoken about what exactly goes into making of a good fast bowler."You bowl fast not because you have a muscular upper body but because you have strong legs," Roberts would often say.

Badruddin said that Shami's fitness isn't all about pumping irons at the gym although he has also built a mini-gym at his residence."He has gym in his house only. But he runs a lot and that is not on the ground. When he is not on national assignment, he would run through his own farmland here in Alinagar."Now if you run through the farm field, the base is soft and for every stride, you need to put in more effort. So when you are running on a cricket field, you feel lighter on feet," the coach explained. Mohammed Shami has shown his worth. For the umpteenth time

Mohammad Shami got a hair transplant in early July.

Here are his bowling averages since:

Before Hair Transplant: 24.65
After Hair Transplant: 12.61

Don't underestimate the confidence a full head of hair can give you

That unbelievable seam presentation is why he doesn't lose pace off the surface. Lot of guys lose a lot of pace after pitching even with higher clock speed. You almost feel like ball quickens off the surface after pitching with Shami giving you very little time to react.

I'd still take Bumrah but Shami has aged like a fine wine. He didn't start out as exceptionally as he has become.

Shami one of the best bowlers in the world, just ready to perform for the team, no show off or verbal only performance on the ground.

Mohammad Shami got a hair transplant in early July.

Here are his bowling averages since:

Before Hair Transplant: 24.65
After Hair Transplant: 12.61

Don't underestimate the confidence a full head of hair can give you
It's not the hair but his divorce from his wife.
He doesn't have to worry about it all the time and can put his best foot forward.

Someone said in the match thread today that even a pot bellied Shami can bowl faster than our guys. It's not about pace though, Shami has great instinct of where to pitch the ball, and knows how to get the seam to work on these pitches.

Pak bowlers just want to run in sling the ball as fast as possible and think it's marvelous if they can reach 150kph. Not saying Shami is slow either, but there is an art to top class pace bowling.

Lot of people don't know Shami is the one of the few guys who bowls at 140k in all the spells in Test match. He never drops his pace. He never loses his seam position. Only downside is predictable. But he is relentless. You can even see Cummins dropping pace. But very rarely bowls like 130 k stuffs in 3rd session of a test. He will still cock at 140k. He has some unique desi fitness training in his village. He puts himself through some rigorous tests.

Shami( Avg 25) will be in India's all time ODI XI alongside Kapil Dev ( Avg 27), Jasprit Bumrah( Avg 23) and Kuldeep Yadav( Avg 25).

Yes he is most certainly quick, but what sets him apart are his other skills. Control of seam, accuracy and intuition of where to pitch it. Pak bowlers think they've made it if they are hitting 145kph. The number of times I've seen gasps of admiration when Rauf hits 150kph, but he has very little bowling intelligence. Even Shaheen Afridi who IS an outstanding bowler, struggles to bowl one side of the wicket on too many days.

One of the reason his 140ks are going to be quicker is his seam presentation. Ball hardly loses any pace when it kisses the pitch that is his strength. His 140ks are going to come at you lot quicker than you think.

Very fine bowler, Ma sha Allah.

Still remember when he started off his international career there was a confusion with his name, he was called Shami Ahmed, and later on Mohammad (Ahmed) Shami.

This guy has been through a lot of mental trauma from his wife. Age is also not on his side yet he’s defying all odds by bowling absolutely beautifully. Honestly I never expected a Bharatiya bowler to perform like this at this age. He’s truly a one off.

That over to Stokes was truly devastating

Ladies & Gentlemen,

13 World Cup matches, 40 wickets
Bowling average : 14 , SR: 16.97

Best bowling average of all
Best SR of all

And the last 3 world cups have seen all batting records getting smashed.

To do THAT while playing in batting world cups is unbelievable stuff.

Shami deserves more love & respect than we give him. Give him a statue please!

Indeed! A best new ball bowler in the world who controls the seam very efficiently, but he doesnt get consistent chances to play which is quite unjustified.

He must ba a priority pick over Siraj.

Yes, he is right up there. Fantastic bowling spells.

His over to Ben Stokes!!!!

:aag

His over to Ben Stokes!!!!

Are you genuinely happy with Mohammed Shami's and Mohammad Siraj's bowling performances today? Must be a pretty hard day for those who were going after Shami in the last world cup. Zaheer Khan was the hero of 2011 world cup and Shami is the hero of 2023 world cup. :inti :misbah

He can't be a hero if India lose semis.
Might be if they lose final still.

Shami can do 2 more 5 wicket hauls I think.

India need to bowl him early, ahead of siraj for that.

Excellent bowler who's been a key cog in India's fast bowling golden era without perhaps getting the recognition he deserves. Good seam, big heart and quick enough.

Greatest ODI World Cup bowler of all time

4th five wicket haul

Congratulations to Shami on a 6-wicket haul in the semi final.

Reserved his best for the knock out

GOAT 🐐

If India win, Shami has got to be among Top 3 ODI World Cup bowlers - others being Glenn McGrath and Mitchell Starc. Nobody else comes close, lol
