[VIDEOS] Is Mohammad Shami the best ODI bowler at the moment?

The most deceptive bowler ever.

I looked at Shami bhai 7-8 years ago and thought this brother getting retired in a year. But he been bowling like a warhorse tournament after tournament.

His will power must be incredible.

Just refuses to die.

That’s because BCCI pays him for times when he misses IPL as well.
BCCI has managed bowlers way better since 2015.
 
I never felt good about his selection even though i like him a lot. I never support even 70% fit bowler . He is probably 50% now. you have to be 99% fit. He somehow displayed tremendous variations. Glad he proved me wrong.

Whatever Shami has been doing fitness wise must be noted down word to word and passed down generations.

Or is he just a generic freak?

Wasim won a world cup. If Shami can win it he can eclipse him for sure. Nevertheless his stats are fantastic and it's always in crunch games.

True.
There was some confusion over his name.

World Cup 2015 was his breakout tournament. He’s been rock solid in every tournament since. Backbone of our strong performance in tournaments in the last decade.

He was sharp. Close to early 140s.

But in 2015, someone adjusted his run up. That made a big difference to his balance at the delivery point.

His problem was not pace. His problem was injuries. His availability was unreliabie. Then he developed his own fitness regime. They call it "desi fitness" regime. After that no looking back.

From the highlights of last night's game he seems noncommittal when it comes to fielding even off his own bowling. I think he is either not adequately fit, or displaying signs of aging, or very likely very one dimensional - a fast bowler with little else to offer. nevertheless, if a half fit, one dimensional shami is taking wickets like i eat donuts, his legend will exceed my waist measurement. and that is no easy feat.

absolute gem of a bowler. i ll take him in the team, and a dozen donuts please.
 
He is still not physically fully fit and is slightly off his peak pace by 3-5 kmph.

However somehow he is taking wkts. Yesterday his death spell was good.
 
Shami has been brilliant in ICC event... His achievements are on top.
 
Shami has been brilliant on sluggish pitches even though he was half fit.akram thought him to be a gem and heavily promoted Shami. Definitely shami eclipsed waqar, akthar with his impactful performances in the tournaments.

I will say akram and bumrah are much better. They have that extra gear available for the atg.shamis numbers are awesome and not matches but other two have that nerve wrecking villainous ability to make the opposition and thier fans life pathetic.

Bumrah top 5

But no issues either way if vice versa

He does a LOT of bowling practice apparently and trusts that more than gym training.

All great fast bowlers say that’s the best thing. Bowl as much as you can. Only way to build and maintain bowling muscle.

Akram really isn't in the conversation for WC great bowlers. Of his 5 WC trips, he had one great tourney in 92 where he could be called the bowler of the tournament and had an above average 99 WC( not in top 5 seamers of tournament)

Rest in 87 and 96 he was markedly poor with his final outing in 03 being mediocre as well.

Even Zaheer came to 3 world cups and he was #2-#3 seamer in 2003 and clearly #1 seamer in 2011.

Starc, Shami, Bumrah are all way ahead of Akram in the WC great seamer stakes

I was talking about the extra gear to rattle the opposition. There will be a fear factor with akram(batsmen getting harassed before getting out) but with shami its a silent, painless death for batsmen.I may be wrong also due to biasedness for akram.

They are not same quality. Trust me Bumrah and Shami together, I doubt India will have such lethal pair of fast bowlers again with new ball.

Bro would be a completely different beast if he reverses. He can be pretty unplayable.

india will be fine. will be more like a team. even after they retire.
new players will get inspired by shami and bumrah
 
Saliva was banned for COVID reasons right? Now that COVID is controlled I guess they can reinstate that.
