And as I was saying, his team mate (Fakhar) says the same;

"Naseem Shah is a very talented bowler, and we say this amongst ourselves that if Naseem can take care of himself just like Shaheen Shah Afridi does, he has a good chance of becoming a superstar because of his talent"

That is the key to have a long and prosperous career. Without top level athlete fitness you cant be a pace bowler who gets 100s of international wickets. Even you learn way faster if you are fit enough to be able to play more cricket.

Pakistan doesn't really go in with 4 pacers and just the 1 spinner pluss Nawaz hasn't played much himself however I would rest Shadab as he's pretty much garranteed in the first xi.

He has 5 wickets for 60 runs so far in his ODI career

Couldn’t have asked for a better start. This is a much better induction to international cricket considering how he was thrown into the deep end in Australia whilst a parent died back home.

Naseem was torn apart by Kane Williamson and the other Kiwi batsman who scored the massive hundred against Pakistan in the 2nd Test because Naseem could not build any momentum or pressure due to his consistent no balls.

He bowls with an attitude in Tests in which trying to bowl as fast as you can and as close as you can to the batsman in order for him to feel the pace. In Tests he thinks he gets away with it because it’s just a run and that’s that. Now that he has moved into ODI, he seems to be equally careless!

Look at Harris Rauf and how he bowls at least two foot’s length behind the white line in order to avoid overstepping. He hasn’t come through the ranks as a junior bowler but he still has enough game awareness to now how harmful a no ball can be to the momentum of the side in white ball cricket

Tom Cooper of Netherlands should have been out. Naseem’s careless attitude has now allowed him to take the momentum forward from the free hit and is now punishing the bowlers!
 
Impressive first two matches to start his career. Impressive not because of wickets but, the length he was able to hit at consistently good pace and movement he was able to extract.

Really need to get his no ball issue sorted though as its really costly in white ball cricket and across the formats when you take a wicket on a no ball.
 
Really impressive stuff from Naseem he was getting the ball to move off the pitch.He was hitting the right Lengths and being patient.Needs to work on his no ball issue.
 
Impressive start. Really good line and length, solid 90MPH pace generation, and the ball is swinging good. He definitely got one of the most aesthetically pleasing actions.

Wish him a lot of luck, really hope he develops well and become a formidable bowling option for Pakistan.
 
He's slowly beginning to realize his true potential. We saw shades of it when he debuted in Australia but he was way too raw back then.

Changes I've noticed in him in the last 18 months.

1. Decrease in pace
He's not trying to bowl as fast as he can, instead he's also concentrating on other skills. His Average speed in Australia and England test series was 144-145 km/hr(which was faster than any Aussie bowler and even Archer) with the effort ball being 148-149. Recently though he's dropped down. He's more around 140 now with the peak speed around 145.

2. His length has improved day and night. He used to primarily bowl on the shorter side but now he's pitching it up more and more.

3. hes developed the ability to swing the ball occasionally. His dismissal of O'doud in the first ODI was an example of that. The ball ducked in the air significantly before crashing into the pads at 90mph


He's far from a finished product yet but Ive always rated him very highly..hopefully he can continue to develop further month after month and provide Shaheen with much needed support from the other end.
 
Also forgot about the yorkers..he's getting those toe crushers in now on consistent basis.

Agree with these points.

I expect (and hope) he gets his old pace back though because his bowling is still undergoing changes.

If he is able to develop consistent swing, that's when he will take a massive step forward.

For the last few series, when he swings it, it's primarily inswing. I hope he develops a proper outswinger.
 
I don't think they should play Naseem in every odi and test team they need to manage his workload.

I agree that his body and workload should be managed as a pacer with his pace is prone to injuries in early 20s. Though would like him to play every test (Obviously if he is in form) unless he has been playing a lot of current near to a test match and if its against a lower ranked side as Pak would be playing around on avg 7 in next FTP in a year.

Yes tests should take priority over odis and t20s but we will have to waite and see how our management manage him.
 
A lot of positives of Naseem in Tests & ODI's lately but the no balls have to be a massive concern, especially in ODI's. Six no balls in 2 ODI's matches is insane and makes it impossible to play him against a top side if he's going to bowl that many no balls.

He needs to take a page out of Rauf's handbook and land half a yard before the line. Bowling coach likely needs to modify his run up a bit to rectify the situation.

its that he bowled very tightly and did not let off...

that is the sign of great bowlers...he led from the front.

if i had a choice, i would play shaheen, naseem and haris rauf as my top 3 with dahani vs. mohammad wasim as 4th.

i dont think hasan ali is top 3 for pakistan anymore. if he improves his batting then

Naseem bowled outstandingly well today. Forget the opposition - against any opposition, this was a masterclass of fast bowling.

Shaheen, Naseem and Haris are by some considerable distance the top 3 pacers in Pakistan.

A very good debut ODI series. Although Netherlands as opposition is far from what he will be bowling to in future, can't take away his effort. Has earned his selection for the next series.

His no ball problem is extremely frustrating though.
 
Brilliant start to his ODI career. Bowled some jaffas in the series.

Was the go to man for his captain and team in his very first series in the absence of Shaheen.

Yep. Those are the best 3 bowlers in Pakistan at the moment, but we still have an undercooked bench. Waseem is still pretty raw, and so is Dahani. I think they need to add Akif Javed to the queue that gets rotated around. A good left-armer is always handy and he's probably the best of the bunch in domestic cricket.
 
A good start- pleasing to see him move the ball and bowl sharply. Obviously bigger tests await and there is a long way to go but he has been through alot and this is a reward for his hard work

Barring any injuries he is gonna play for Pakistan a long time.

Obviously can't get ahead of ourselves but he gets full marks for this series. Brilliant.

His fitness worries me though.

Naseem was always an exciting talent. Anyone who couldn't see that doesn't know much about cricket. It's just that he was inducted into the team in the worst way possible. 16 or even 18 years is no age to be playing your first international match, especially if that match is a TEST match against the likes of Warner and Smith in their backyard, i.e, on absolute roads. If Waqar Younis wanted to destroy a young man's confidence for life, he did everything he could to achieve that. On top of that, he lost his mother as a teenager and had some fitness issues as well.

A boy less tough than Naseem could've been permanently scarred by that experience but Naseem seems like someone who has confidence in his skills and the desire to perfect them. He came back strongly and is here to not only stay, but thrive!

Asia Cup is going to be a big test. Wish him the best of luck. All hopes on him now that Shaheen is out.
 
Naseem has looked good.

In Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, Pakistan can potentially have a world class opening bowling pair for 2023 WC, This will be a big threat for opposition teams.

Yes it was Netherlands, but Naseem bowled some beautiful deliveries in all 3 matches.

Bowled with good pace, control and aggression.

Hopefully we are starting to see the Naseem Shah we all want to see with the ball.

He knew the quality of the players he dominated. Needs to stay humble and he will deliver similarly against the top oppositions too.

If Haris Rauf can be turned into a good wicket taking bowler, Naseem’s potential I’d far far more!
 
Happy for Naseem. Bowled really well. I just hope he stays fit, strong and works hard on his game he will be an asset.

I mean I agree, but for Naseem to be one of the best quicks in the world he's gotta do what he did to Netherlands to the Englands, Australias and Indias. If we're looking at it from that lens, his only notable performance was against Australia in the 3rd test this year (which was really good). Not to take anything away from his hattrick vs Bangladesh and 5fer vs SL, but it's ultimately gonna come down to how he fares consistently vs the big teams.

in one sentence you list his accomplishments and in other, you say he needs to do more.

the fact of the matter is, he has done average to good if not better in all chances he has gotten as a young bowler. he is surely going to improve.

his line and length and control was incredible whiich is rare for a young fast bowler.

I’m not taking anything away here, all I’m saying is that his stature as a bowler will come down to how he fares vs the big teams consistently. The last thing people want is for Naseem to be a minnow basher. And yes what he’s done recently so far has been impressive, and the line and length + the speed he’s displayed vs Netherlands was brilliant. Here’s to hope he does this consistently in Asia Cup, Eng series, the World T20 and future tough assignments to come.

The bashing was baseless. This is a young bowler with immense potential. You have to see him bowl to believe it, rather than look at scorecards. He can hit the seam at high pace and get it to move slightly both ways, most teams will KILL to have such a young talented pace bowler.

Only issue has been, while such gems hone their skills in their respective domestic circuits in other countries, in Pakistan they are thrown into the deep end to survive.

Also dumb fans want them to start delivering immediately.

Have to say this kid is starting to prove me wrong and I don’t get many wrong. He’s got a long way to go but in the right track. Just needs to stay grounded and work harder

Let's hope he stays fit. He needs to realise that his strength is bowling a fullish length around off stump at good pace.

Just imagine if Pakistan have Shaheen, Naseem and Haris Rauf at the World Cup. Can think of few pace attacks more dangerous than that...
 
It would be mouth watering to see Shaheen and Naseem opening the attack while Rauf sandwiching between and with Wasim Jnr hurling down reverse swinging Yorkers as a 4th seamer and great to see Shahdab getting his groove back , it's almost like Afridi, Ajmal Gul and Hafeez level bowling attack now on paper.

It doesn't come anymore difficult then losing your Mum at such a young age. He is doing good, no need to apologize or explain yourself when you've proved your mental strength.
