Pakistan needs to get pragmatic and make the most of its resources. The best players should be playing in each format. Every modern international player is good enough to transfer their skills across formats, as long as they are in form.

Rizwan is actually one of the 2-3 Pakistani cricketers that I like. I am delighted to see him score a hundred but it does not change the fact that the following wicket-keepers have higher ceiling than him as a batsman:

Pant
Buttler
Bairstow
Pooran

All are better batsman than him. There is no doubt about. However, Rizwan is a very valuable player for Pakistan because any keeper who keeps brilliantly and can maintain an average of 35-39 and score a few hundreds is valuable, especially when you are a bankrupt cricket nation like Pakistan.

You are just going in a circle to justify the lesser avgd WK batsman compared to Rizwan ...

Im talking of what is achieved by your comparisons so far, not what you think they will achieve... Keep dreaming.. Let me tell you the same thing again.

QDK, BUTTLER, BAIRSTOW all these three have played more than 50 tests so far in their career and still couldnt avg close to 40 to the least. Shows that either they are not good for avg 40+ in tests as they dont meet your expected ceiling or they are happy with what they have done so far...

You can set their ceiling to be way higher but in reality they have not come close to it..

He is not comfortable in Limited Overs in the middle-order. He would struggle in T20s as well if he doesn’t open.

You can’t answer and you run away. No point having a discussion when you just run away. Can you tell me what is mediocre average 14 for a wicket keeper or 40. Average 24 or average 40. Rizwan averages over 45 plus in tests buts let’s drop him for a racist player who was averaging in 20 odd over a long time because he was a specialist captain. Answer the question.

With Imam and Babar record currently although Imam plays 80’s cricket he will struggle to get up the order.
