Expected more runs from jaddu. He is a no.7, that still counts as a frontline batsman

Jaddu is actually a better bowler than unlucjy Sharma....even in seaming conditions....there I said it. His batting though...lets just say it wil be fun to watch in SA :))
 
This guy has multiple triple centuries in first class cricket? Gosh, and i though the pakistan first class was bad

he wont play,but I think he has surpassed Ojha as backup option to Ashwin
 
I read an article on cricket county on how Jaddu deserves more respect from Indian fans....I certaincly believe the same !!! Guy gets tooooooo much flak.....

Best fielder ...and growing as decent bowler and a batsmen....

I would rather play Yadav, Kumar, Ashwin, and Ojha/Jaddu instead of picking Sharma at the expennse of another deserving bowler. Maybe if Shami Ahmed is picked I would drop Ojha/Jadeja. Unlucky Sharma is just going to lay an egg in SA too. He is useless period.

He is not that bad as a bowler but there are gaping holes in his batting. Infact our batting is going to get smashed in SA except one or two guys others dont look that solid. UV is out because it seems he cannot maintain the intensity for longer periods due to him recovering from cancer. I felt he was rushed into the team a lil bit.

agree.I think Pankaj Singh or Shami should be our 3rd seamer
 
Another good performance by Jadeja against the clueless aussies.
 
Would love to see him bowling in SA, he'd have Amla and AB shaking in their boots.

One thing for certain, the man has the potential to become a permanent member of our Test side.
 
Utility player but he will get milked to death in SA by Amla and Kallis.

Jadeja got Clarke five times. Clarke is one man who could have changed the fate of the series, but it was not to be. Jadeja would be winning more hearts than ever before in India. He would be talked of as a "potential failure" abroad, but how many Indian bowlers have been successful abroad? Me thinks Jadeja is here to stay. He may not reach the legendary status but he may continue to win matches for India.

How do u guys rate his bowling getting more improved/precise during this series ?

I didnt watched too much of the series but some of his deliveries were complete rippers with precise line and length. Basically made use of the conditions to the max is what i would say based on the highlight package i saw.

the guy was mocked and written off even before he played first Test.booed in stadiums,despite that hes kept his head.good too see such blokes doing well
 
Can't remember a young player been subjected to as much ridicule as Jadeja has copped since making his debut for India. Takes loads of mental fortitude to set all that criticism aside and do well at the test level.

He may or may not go onto have a long and successful career, but the way he has turned around his career is commendable. With a 2 mn dollar paycheck , he could have become complacent focussed on IPL and T20 cricket, but he kept saying playing test cricket is his ultimate goal and grabbed his chance gleefully.

Props to Dhoni too for showing faith in him in Jadeja's skills.

Poor guy has been targeted unfairly ever since he went for an awful lot of runs in a T20 match. He has always been a decent ODI bowler under Indian conditions. I think his status is beginning to change and one more good series will erase many more bad memories.

Not quite.
His performance in some of the ODIs been woeful too. He failed many times and Dhoni's persistence with him was questioned.

I too wasnt a big fan of his, but after the recent series he has come across as an improved cricketer. If he is able to get more results in the future then kudos to him and Dhoni ofc. But let few more series go by. Still early days.
 
Too bad Clarke did not play. Otherwise Jadeja could have 2 more wickets in the Test Match !!!!!!

Yuvi is completely proven to not be Test-class, obviously Jadeja may not be either but there's little case for the Yuvi's return.
 
People often undermines hard yard Jadeja has put in longer version of domestic games.

He averaged 50 with bat and 25 with bowl, with 7 100, 15 50's and 11 times 5-for and 8 times 4-for. His LOI performances were unfairly tagged with what he can do in longer format.

My prediction: His bowling has flourished/will continue to flourish in spin friendly condition, and his batting will step up when he will play on faster pitches.
 
The guy is a living legend. Clarke who completely thrashed South Africa, got double hundreds over and over is now Jaddu's bunny. Just watched Hrithik Roshan's Koi mil Gaya, jaadu needed some dhoop and now he's back in the game. :yk

Even Malinga has been woeful in some of the ODIs. Jaddu has been hard to master at the domestic level, where Indian batsmen usually make a lot of FC runs. To average 25 as a slow bowler in first class cricket is not easy in India these days. I can't actually believe that he has started his test career with a sub 20 bowling averages. This will not last, even then it is surreal.

Sri Sri Ravindra Jadeja is a legend who is more versatile that the great Gary Sobers. He was chosen as a batsman who could bowl, but he turned out to be a bowler who could sometimes bat.... What a googly... what a player. Cant wait to see what he pulls off in South Africa. He might even defend Dale Steyn twice off the back foot.

Ravindra Jadeja is an ATG already.

Yes i have been thinking about it and i think Jadeja deserves his due respect.
He averages 50 with the bat and 25 with the ball in FC Cricket and is one of four players to score 3 Triple Tons.
These FC Stats are worthy of him being called an ATG even though its only 48 FC matches.
Players WG Grace are called legends just because of their records in FC Cricket and if we are to call them legends than Jadeja also deserves to be called a Legend.
No matter how poor the bowling attack or the how good the track is the fact is that Jadeja has scored more Triple Tons in FC Cricket than Tendulkar,Dravid and Gavaskar.
I think we will see him get better and better as time comes and his performances will improve with the bat in Test Cricket.

You are joking right? I have never heard someone calling Hodge an ATG, or someone like thomas-one of the best pace bowlers of all time despite their domestic performance. The thing is domestic performance do not really count.

What about Rohit? Surely he is an ATG having a 60 average in tests?
