[VIDEOS] Sir Ravindra Jadeja tributes thread

Sir takes three 10 wicket hauls including six 5fers in a row at Rajkot (First Class)

13 wickets
13 wickets
11 wickets

A total of 37 wickets in last 3 FC matches he played in Rajkot this month.

Sir will be back for RSA test series.

Be afraid :amla.. Be very very afraid :amla

What a legend !

Jadeja last three Ranji matches....37 wickets at an average 8 !

6 fifers in a row...

What on earth has happened to Jadeja's batting? He bats like a number 9 or 10 these days. Not setting the world alight with the ball either. He's turning into a specialist fielder.

This is a myth. He was never ever a batsman. Out of 130 Odis, he only played 1 match winning fifty. He plays mostly selfish innings and tuktuks or edges his runs to score some selfish runs

I don't how he managed those 3 triple tons otherwise its been 7 years already and he's never quite turned it on as a batsman. Even the cameos have been 1 or 2 only. He's in the team purely as a bowler. Can't rely on his batting at all. Harbhajan at #8 was a much much better batting option back in the day. Bhaji is twice or thrice the batter Jadeja ever was.

Batting has gone downhill, his bowling is useful on spinning tracks but on unhelpful surfaces he can be targeted, very very good fielder and a favourite of :msd

It's remarkable how Jadeja has gone from a joke figure to one of India's most valuable players. I thought Dhoni was mad by continually backing Jadeja but he obviously saw something the rest of us didn't.

There are a few clutch players in this world... but only one super clutch player Ravindra Jadeja.

Underachiever imo, defn has better batting skills but clearly lacks the temperament to play big innings.

Well from what I remember , Jadeja came in the side primarily as a batsman and he was a good lower order batsman but Raina always had the edge due to his fielding and spin. How times have changed where Raina has regressed considerably and bowling is done whereas Jadeja has turned into a primary strike bowler with getting his batting skills back

Exquisite batting and running betweem the wickets today. The way he ran out Pandya was some next level sorcery. Almost seemed like he was one of us.

Imagine a team of eleven Jadejas.

Would struggle to beat the Falkland Islands.

Ravindra Jadeja hits six sixes in an over in Saurashtra Cricket Association tournament

Ravindra Jadeja achieved a rare feat when he hit six sixes in one over during an inter-district T20 tournament between Jamnagar and Amreli at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium. Jadeja, who was representing Jamnagar district, went on to score a whirlwind 154 off just 69 deliveries as his side posted a mammoth 239/6 in 20 overs.

Jadeja’s onslaught began in the 10th over and it was in the 15th over of the match that he hit the six sixes. Nilam Vamja was on the receiving end as he had the unfortunate experience of seeing the ball fly six times over the rope. During his blistering knock, Jadeja hit 10 sixes and 15 fours.

Chasing target of 240 runs to win, Amreli scored 118 runs for loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Vishal Vasoya scored 36. Nilam Vamja made 32 runs. Mahendra Jethva took 3 wickets in 4 overs giving away 6 runs. Vihar Jadeja took 1 wicket. Jamnagar won the match by 121 runs and got 4 points.

While Jadeja’s knock has come in an inter-district tourney, it will do his confidence a world of good since he has not been featuring in the one-day set-up of the national side.

CT final run out linked to Jadeja outster

Is the CT final run out of Pandya by Jadeja responsible for his outster from LOI and also benching in tests.
Or the rise of kuldeep and chahal. Even though the two dont play tests still he was benched
Also is Kohli a captain " who never forgets" 😡

Not true. Jadeja is still world no.3 test bowler. Ashwin world no.5 Ashwin's better batting credentials puts him above Jaddu. Leggies rule the roost in One dayers . Good ones do it consistently. India has 2 of them. They are simply better that's why they are ahead of Jaddu/Ash

Last time under dhoni captaincy he played bad against England and India lost chance to go ahead. But still he played many more matches after that. But now looks like an immediate reaction under Kohli

Big reason was they they rarely picked wickets in middle and even gave many runs in overseas. Ashwin has no fifer in odis and jadeja averages almost 35+ so why would anyone keep them playing for life? even though i feel kuldeep and chahal can get smacked by class batsman but they can still keep picking wicket.

Jaddu was always a strictly containment option as a bowler in LOI. His batting did help us in the CT2013 final though.

The new spin twins are WAAY better and are leggies to boot. We'll keep Jaddu as backup or as the 3rd spinner in Subcontinent ODIs

Not only did Kohli not forgive Jaddu, but he also booted his pal Ashwin from the ODI team due to that runout!

Poor Ravi. Ranked number 3 test bowler in the world and did not even get a game on a turning track at Southampton.

Most likely he will get to play at the Oval.

We'll have to wait and see if he can turn up right away on his first match in a dead rubber.

Well played, Jaddu!

He is a good player. Remember the home series vs Australia, when Ashwin struggled with bowl and Kohli struggled with bat, Jadeja won India the series with the bowl vs Australia which was arguably the only series India played when the opposition showed some fight.

Outside Asia, let's see how he fares. He hasn't been bad though.

He should have played once Ashwin was injured

Is an even better batsman than current Ashwin.

Should be preferred in Aus

He is better than ashwin.
Ashwin has been exposed and now he shouldn't be the first choice spinner.

Reason why to have Jaddu in your XI:-

1) saves 20 runs on field.
2) bowls his spells 20 minutes faster than others.

Don’t believe in over exposing Kuldeep.

I guess we need to play Jadeja in next few games and maybe unleash Kully in the semis

Only played 2 matches at the World Cup - incredible.

He almost won us today. It's not even like when he got out the game was over. India still had hope.

Absolute champion stuff! Well done Jaddu, you will be remembered.

I would've termed it as the greatest ODI knock ever if Jadeja had been able to win the semi-final yesterday for India. Still was an amazingly brave innings. I'm in total awe of this man!

I find it very useful the fielding statistics the they've been showing this World Cup. Guptill has saved around 35 runs in nine matches whereas Jadeja the great has saved around 45 runs in just two matches. Just wow! He topped the list with just two outings. Just goes to tell you the value that he brings to the team in all three departments. He's a seriously capable cricketer. I hope that Manjrekar will finally start to rate him as a player.

Not sure if his games as substitute were added or not.

Well spotted! It makes my post look a little embarrassing now, and they too must´ve been counted given the improbability of the numbers, but one thing that still stands is that he still wouldn´t have fielded the same number of overs as a substitute as Guptill has being a part of the playing XI throughout the tournament.

No bro.

I heard others saying it.

I am not that observant. :))

Yeah he wouldn't have fielded as many overs as Guptill for sure.

Quite surprised mind you. I always had you as a very observant guy in my book. One of those guys who´re quick to spot that their friend´s wife has a mole on her foot. I always thought that you´re one of those.

That I do.

My wife gets furious but I still do that.

He has won a lot of hearts with that inning. Grant Elliot-esque inning from him.

I don't like him but fair play. Quality effort it was.

sensible-indian-fan actually, the number of matches that they show for Jadeja on that fielding performance´s table are indeed just two. Commentator Isa Guha too fell for the trap yesterday and was awestruck by Jadeja´s stats! However, it has to be that both myself and Isa got that one wrong. It just can´t be. Jadeja is superhuman but that´s still stretching too far. Overs as substitute fielder must´ve been taken into consideration.

All in all, the fielding performance table/chart was the greatest addition to the stats that they show on the TV. A great addition from this World Cup.

Indeed no doubt.

This was a brilliant addition to the WC.

We should have stats for:

1. Catches dropped (we already do but should be shown more often)
2. Attempts survived (dropped, lbw not given, edges not given, etc)
3. False shots (beaten, skier, etc)
4. Spinner rev count
5. Wickets missed out by bowlers (catches dropped, lbw not given, etc) - unique and raw count - like same batsmen being dropped twice is counted as 1 times for unique but 2 times for raw.

It will be great to get these stats so we can judge players. :D

Interesting suggestions. Mind you, our Fakhar Zaman would´ve topped the "False shots" list, and that too by a distance! :))

A well made 58 by Jadeja at the back end of India's innings today.

a quality all rounder misused till date by the management. He has the calibre to easily average atleast 37 in test cricket with the bat. A batsman in domestic with 50+ avg: and 3 300s deserves lot better treatment from the management. Hope he gets just that from the management in the next 5 to 6 years.

Jadeja has one thing most Indian batsmen don't, he has gears. He can hit sixes any time to rattle the opposition bowlers. Indians lower order has become nonexistent, Jadeja plays so many different roles.

to add to that he is a left hander. But he is in the hands of these sense less bunch is the only obstacle to his evolution as a better player.

In his best batting form right now.

The way he is going test average of 40 doesn't seem far

too good a player. best all rounder.
wonder who will potentially replace ashwin and jaddu.

axar and maybe Gotham.

All hail Sir Jadeja!

Better batsmen and fielder than Ashwin and more likely to take wickets overseas than Ash.

India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja was denied permission to play in the Ranji Trophy final for Saurashtra against Bengal, which is set to take place on Monday at Rajkot, according to a report. The request was made by Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) to BCCI, but since Jadeja is a part of Indian ODI set-up, and is expected to feature in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly denied him the permission to play citing “country first” policy.

“I spoke to him [Ganguly] and was told that the board can’t allow Jadeja to play Ranji as country comes first,” Jaydev Shah, the SCA president was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“If BCCI wants people to watch their premier domestic cricket then no international game should be held during Ranji final, henceforth. It’s my suggestion. Will BCCI keep an international match during IPL? No, because it gives money. Ranji Trophy can only be popularised if star players play at least in the finals. Don’t keep any international cricket during finals, have a proper window,” Shah further said.

“I would have loved to see him (Jadeja) play the Ranji Trophy final for us, why only Jadeja, I would have loved to see Mohammad Shami (for Bengal) also,” he added.

Saurashtra entered their second successive Ranji Trophy final with a 92-run win over Gujarat on day five of their semifinal, on Wednesday. Saurashtra captain and lead pacer Jaydev Unadkar led from the front with a seven-wicket haul as Gujarat were bowled out for 234 in the final session on day five.

Unadkat also broke a 21-year-old record for most wickets by a fast bowler in a single Ranji Trophy season. He finished the semifinal with a total of 65 wickets. The record earlier belonged to Karnataka’s Dodda Ganesh for the 1998-99 season.

I just went through the first page of this thread and how hillariously he was trolled by everyone. That was 7 years ago back when some posters watching him and his limited skills were saying it's impossible for Jaddu to maintain that average of 23 in test cricket and here we are now :srini

He is having the lowest bowling average for any Indian bowler in test with a sample of 200 wickets, that's a plenty of sample. To entertain the troll further, he averages 35 with the bat.:vk2

Man of the finals in Champions Trophy 2013.
Man of semi finals for India in World Cup 2019.
:ishant

Only Jaddu bhai can perform these stunts.:sarf

The GOAT bits and pieces player.

he is a clutch players. excellent bowler and a handy batsman. Not bit part especially in Asian conditions he is a proper all rounder. Good on flat roads overseas as well. Seaming wickets will always be an issue for spinners but he does a good containment job there too.
