Would Faryal Makhdoom have been better off keeping the matter private and trying to resolve her issues with the boxer's family without taking to social media, or was her decision to lash out at them in an explicit rant on Snapchat justified given the apparent circumstances?

Nothing wrong with it imo. There is only so much one can take. The world should know of the injustices she went through at the hands of Amir's family.

don't you think there is always two sides towards a story?

well it's her life. Since she chose this way I hope she is ready for consequences..

I've seen Amir Khan's extended family, they carry themselves like normal down to earth modest Pakistanis family. Google her name and you'll see she hardly fits in bill as a down to earth Bradford Pakistani daughter in law, it was always going to end in tears.

I wouldn't bring it out in public. or publicly shame the family.

If you want a "Bradford daughter in law" then marry someone from Bradford. ......and not someone from a privileged upbringing and that too from another country.

How does me and you knowing about their personal problem solve anything or make anything better?

Faryal is like your average Pakistani-American girl, so there might be cultural differences. Amir Khan;s mom and sister probably thought they could boss her around like they could do to any girl form jehlum or mirpur. I've also heard that Potwari/Hindko speaking women are very fiesty, that's what a friend of mines originally from there told me, Amir's originaly from there too so you guys can do the math.

her choice...pretty sure the in laws aren't as innocent as being portrayed

She sure does like to overglam herself, definately a very mod squad wife but deep down i would like to give her the benefit of the doubt that she is not a bad person deep down even if she manages to get under people's skins.

I suspect her family members feel intimidated by her given that she is decent looking, mod squad and free spirited, independent and doesn't easily get bossed around.

It is the husband's responsibility to take care of both his elderly parents and his beautiful wife and to make them meet mid way and to mediate in case of any misunderstandings. If he is not playing his part in a fearless confident manner then he is just being a coward.

Amir Khan is probably worth $20-30 million. He is the one who is more privileged and should be the one wearing the pants in the relationship.

Idk, would make a nice heading for tabloid magazine. Her in laws should respect other people.

I don't know what happened but Amir Khan really can't have these distractions in his life right now. He needs to get his boxing career back on track.

its about class.

While i dont really know her background at all it seems she is from a well off high class family.

at the end of the day that has more worth in our society.. the whole 'new money' , 'old money' drama

this is why many of our cricketers or even actors dont get to marry old money people generally and end up with some desi UK girl instead if they are so inclined.

He's finished. He had a very good run at 140

As for the OP yes she absolutely should of kept it house. But if she did then this wouldnt of been possible.

Amir Khan set for reality TV series after wife Faryal Makhdoom’s explosive family drama Snapchat rant

The above was taken from the sun

My family has known her family for a long time. She's from Staten Island and she really isn't one to be bossed around.

Literally nothing has changed, saw her family a few weeks ago and they were saying how happy she is and how her In law's adore her LOL

apparently she is from a well offf background

i personally see no reason for her to take abuse from in laws

as it is ive always noticed with amir khan that his family is basically hanger ons and have severely restricted his career

This stuff is very common in South Asian families. If you are getting married best to keep some separation from your in laws.

She's Pakistani-American, most Pakistani-Americans come from the urban middle class of Pakistan and later became wealthy or upper-middle class over here, it's not like she's part of some wealthy family like the Mansha's or the Bhutto's. There's a very small class of the old rich in Pakistan and most of them live over there, Pak-Americans are just regular people who worked our to success. Amir Khan is a multimillionaire and world famous boxer, it doesn't matter if he has humble roots, he's clearly the settler in the relationship.

Absolutely not, would be mortified if anyone of my family washed their dirty linen in public. These two are western born celebrities, it's hardly as if she's being kept in servitude in some village in Pakistan.

That said, I wouldn't expect a girl like her to be living in an extended household to begin with so the fault isn't hers initially. Amir and his family should have thought this through before they were settled. Neither party is blameless here, and that's why Amir is keeping in the background, he doesn't know whether to stick or twist.

Well putting it on Snapchat didn't resolve the matter, did it?

Private matters should be kept private..

Anyways, on topic, things should always be kept private as far as family matters are concerned. If you are not compatible as people or as families, you can always seperate; no need to make a show out of yourself to the world despite supposedly being high class. This new generation needs to expose everything to social media, it's truly the exhibitionist and the voyeur generation (which ties back to AK's parents' complaints).

Apparently it was the sisters who started it on social media with snide comments.

If anyone is to blame it's Amir Khan

The sisters are part of the same exhibitionist generation.

It doesn't make any difference to our lives that celebrities are having marital problems, why are we blaming people? Tbh, it doesn't make a lot of difference to their lives either, the problems they are complaining about seem quite petty in the grand scheme of things.

My view point is that avoiding conflict for so long only serves to build up and eventually exacerbate issues. When 2 people fight and go to war, they will be forced to reconcile and compromise.

Maybe Faryal can dress a little bit modestly when visiting her inlaws and can dress however she wants everywhere else.

I know couples of compromise like this. One couple i know, the guy came from an ultra conservative family and the girl from a more squad family, she donned the Abbaya whenever she visited his folks, stayed with them and dressed modestly but away from them she wears tight t shirts, jeans, skirts and dresses very liberally.

Up to her

How many people knew about it before she started telling the whole story on Snapchat though?

Agreed on the second part.

Isn't that the whole issue

What you're suggesting is she should have just kept her mouth shut and taken the abuse (if there's any ie). I'm sure this was last resort kind of thing

If a Muslim wants to show skin or more skin and curves let her. She is as good as her knowledge, faith and brough up.

Let her be ambassador of her faith and family.

Who are you ? Are you going to her grave ?

The family have denied the abuse so proof is needed for that - what we know for sure is that there were definite disagreements/arguments plus social media posts.

Anyway, Amir should've realised that just letting the situation meander along is not sustainable.

In any case, she is the same person who the parents were presumably happy enough to marry to their son in the first place. If they don't like it, tough. Amir should have made it clear to his parents when he got married that his wife was not going to change and that would have set the boundaries from the beginning and would have saved this ridiculous public spat. I reckon he'll probably move to the US now to get some privacy. He's been looking at going across there for some time now anyway.

Disagreements and disrespect is not equivalent to abuse sorry to say.Mental or physical abuse have a different criteria and threshold and yes she was wrong tbf the reply from her parents were in the line to be hypocritical and Amir the "distressed farishta" was wrong as well.

To all the haters, as Maximus once said, "Are you not entertained?!"

I'm sitting here with popcorn in hand for the next retort. :yk

Its probably from the hardcore local wahabis who dont like other muslims celebrating a christian event in any shape or form

ahhh didn't think about that, I thought it was something to do with his wife and personal life. Twitter is full of such *******. Feel sorry for Amir to go through this abuse.

Don't know if it's against Islam or not but if it is then a Muslim shouldn't celebrate it.

Look at the replies.

People just hate him that's the truth. Not many of the replies are actually about him celebrating Christmas. A lot of them are about his wife and his hair.

I am not on twitter so can't read replies. People are idiots if they are abusing him just because of his hair or wife. Internet trolls are the worse kind, but as a celebrity Amir probably is used to it.

They are.

Anonymity is the reason

LOL amir doesn't help himself, if he wants to celebrate Christmas surely he knows he'd get abuse for that. Just keep it to yourself. Im a big amir fan but even I cringe every year at his Christmas posts.
