West Indies have won the toss and have opted to field

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Danushka Gunathilaka, Dimuth Karunaratne(c), Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal(w), Oshada Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan, Nuwan Pradeep

West Indies (Playing XI): Evin Lewis, Shai Hope(w), Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard(c), Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein

Shai Hope plays like Babar of old. Lot of slow runs. Babar has taken off since though

Two early wickets for WI thanks to Joseph.

Should be an awesome Friday afternoon of cricket.

SL 121/3 (22.4) CRR: 5.34

Danushka 100 would be great after his dismissal last time

Criminal to give Jason Mohammad two wickets. SL waste another decent platform. They need this pair to stay until the end.

Whatever happened to Avishka Fernando as he had done well opening for SL when he played till 2020 and then discarded or injured since?

His List A record is even good for an opener with a solid SR.

SL playing the wrong Fernando, Avishka for ODI and Oshada for Tests.

The West Indies off to a reasonable start.

57/0 (10 overs)
Hope 26*
Lewis 31*

WI need 217 runs from 40 overs at a required rate of 5.42.

West Indies 86/0 (15 overs)
Hope 37*
Lewis 49*

WI need 188 runs from 35 overs at a required rate of 5.37.

The openers carrying on from where they left off in the first game. It's shaping up to be an interesting chase.

Fielding has been ordinary from Sri Lanka.

Steve Rixon isn't a miracle worker - you still need buy-in from the players.

What an opening stand this is.

I'd take either WI or SL's opening pair for Pakistan in a heartbeat.

Quality batting from West Indies although Sri Lanka have looked like a very unfit side which is surprising as over he years they have always been sharp in the field.

West Indies making a mess of this chase.

60 needed off 43.

WI trying to rescue defeat from the jaws of victory again.

Middle order making a meal of this chase, captain Pollard goes.

This is going down to the wire. Shame there's no crowd.

Very good death bowling from SL.

This Pooran innings is a stinker.

Needs to start middling the ball before it's too late.

13 off 12

Even West Indies can't lose this surely.

Lol at Mickey Arthur's so called ability to transform white ball teams. SL losing WI now :))

West Indies win the ODI series. Made the chase slightly harder than necessary, but they always had wickets in hand even if the RRR was climbing.

They did well to play out SL spinners and attack their pacers. Pradeep lost his way with his final two overs, but SL's lack of wickets upfront was more costly.

Mickey Arthur with his usual antics in the dugout while WI wins its first ODI series in 8 years against any of the top 7 ODI teams.

Pooran saw them through in the end but they made hard work of that after being 192/0

West Indies have a lot of options for LO cricket. They really should be doing better going forward.

ST JOHN’S, Antigua — A record opening stand of 192 runs between Evin Lewis and Shai Hope followed by composed batting by Nicholas Pooran at the end guided West Indies to victory over Sri Lanka in the second CG Insurance One-Day International.

West Indies made 274-5 off 49.4 overs in reply to Sri Lanka’s 273-8 off their 50 overs to win by five wickets at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Friday. It took the home side to an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Left-hander Lewis made 103 and Hope 84 to provide the perfect platfom. It was Lewis’s fourth ODI century and overall he faced 121 balls and hit eight fours and four sixes. He was named the CG Insurance Man-of-the-Match. Hope continued his tremendous form with his 18th half-century in this format to follow-up his 110 in the opening match on Wednesday. He faced 108 balls and hit six boundaries.

The partnership was their second consecutive century stand for the first wicket – the highest for West Indies against Sri Lanka – surpassing the 143 they added on Wednesday. It is also the highest partnership at this venue for any wicket – beating the 175 by England’s Joe Root and Jos Buttler five years ago.

“I have been working hard and training hard to get back to this level and I feel very proud at the moment. I always try to get the team off the best start in the powerplay. I think this wicket is one of the best for batting in the Caribbean and I’m very happy to get a hundred and win the match and the series,” Lewis said.

Pooran made an unbeaten 35 from 38 balls as West Indies recorded their highest successful run chase at the venue. In the final over with nine to win, he played an exceptional cover drive off the second ball which sped to the boundary. Next ball he hit a full toss through the point region for another boundary and then got a single off the fourth ball as West Indies earned their 30th ODI win against Sri Lanka in 62 matches.

Upcoming matchSunday, March 14: 3rd CG Insurance One-Day International at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. First ball is 9:30am (8:30am Jamaica Time)

The West Indies have the makings of a very promising side, at least at home. They will struggle away from home against stronger sides such as England, but Ricky Skerritt and his team are slowly turning things around.
