West Indies [318 & 200/6] beat England [204 & 313] by 4 wickets in the first Test at Southampton

Lovely bowling by Holder to get Stokes and Buttler in consecutive overs. England direly miss Sam Curran here. He played some blinding knocks in similar situations before.
 
Not sure if playing Wood over Broad, Curren or Woakes was a good call here. I guess only time will tell.

while i agree that he is not the top, Broad isn't even playing and he is way better than Roach atm

Good all conditions bowler, and better at that than Archer, Anderson at the moment.

Holder maybe better than Archer or Roach at the moment but no way he is better than Anderson or Broad!

The pitch has actually slowed down and the bounce has settled. There was quite a bit of swing though early in the day which Holder exploited. Buttler and Stokes should have rebuilt since the ball had stopped swinging by then too . I think the Windies have just bowled a whole lot better today and England have batted somewhat poorly. Conditions are not that hard for batting now.

Since the start of 2018 Jason Holder has taken around 60 test wickets at an average of under 14. Best in the world.
 
What a poor match for the umpire Richard Kettleborough
 
I doubt Windies would even cross a 100 but English bowling attack right now is inexperienced and Jimmy was in and out due to injuries since last year.
 
Just goes to show why 3 reviews were necessary. English umpires will never change at home
 
200 and England have runs on the board, below that they will be in big trouble
 
Holder has not only got 5 wickets, but got 3 reviews spot on. Best all rounder captain

They do have a decent batting line up. Last time in England braithwaite and shai hope but a record partnership both of them scoring hundreds. I think they won a test match too.

If Eng get all out under 170 , game on hai.
 
One thing you need to remember about the British, we are never wrong. Even our movies are on par with Hollywood films, we will rate them 4* and above no matter what. How can our umpires not support our own players?

Holder is the best example of [MENTION=132916]Junaids[/MENTION] 'Height is everything for fast bowlers' theory. Guy bowls 127-133 kph but because of his extremely high release gets bounce from a fuller length and with the ability to move the ball as well, he is an extremely effective bowler.

Cottrel played in the previous tour I think, not sure why he is not in the squad. There is a newbie Chemar Holder
 
Monumental effort from Holder... 6 fer.. hopefully their batsmen can apply themselves and back up the efforts of the bowlers..

Indeed.. also makes me think that Shaheen Afridi will be successful in our next tour
 
Remind yourselves that not only is Denly in the line up he is also batting at no.3, this humiliation is well deserved. The era of cowardly cricket where tailenders are required to blunt the new ball at no.3
 
Holder arguably is the best cricketer in the world and at the very least should be in the conversation
 
Just noticed holder has a 5 Fer in sharjah and a 5 fer in india ��
 
Better bowler than stokes by a countrymile but not as good with the bat.
Ben stokes has a bothamesque charm and knack of performing in crunch situations which makes him more popular.
I won't be surprised if stokes gets a fifer or scores a century to set the match again.

South Africa are abysmal at the moment. I'd liked to have seen them tour the Caribbean this summer and face this pace attack.

Holder's stats are almost mid-80s Imran Khan levels. An incredible improvement and easily the world's leading allrounder. He doesn't get the hype being outside the Big 3.

Bar Abbas, I doubt our guys can bowl with the discipline and accuracy the West Indians are showing. Our seam bowling has been living off past reputation for years.

People said that in 2016 but look how we managed. Abbas and Shaheen can do wonderful. Maybe we can pick Faherm and Sohail Khan (if he is fit) to help.

Nope his overall stats are bad due to poor 2016 home series,he played two tests in India and took 5 fer in that match.
Other one in India he played was against Afghanistan.

Jason holder doesn't get recognition he deserves.He is definitely the best bowler in the world at the moment along with pat Cummins.He is definitely the best cricketer he is better than many front line batsmen and very good fielder as well. brilliant cricketer! Best in the world.
 
If only West Indies had this bowling lineup when they still had batsmen like Gayle and Chanderpaul...

100 wickets in 40 matches is a bit too poor of a record to be considered best in the world

Conversation was about how batsmen prepare/what they do to relax before coming out to bat. Female commentator asked Nasser what he did and he tried to brush it off by saying something along the lines of "you don't want to know", but she kept probing so he eventually said it's the reason he had a health scare at some point. I'm guessing it might have been smoking
 
This last pair runs could be crucial here, Poms will also use the condition.

Great job Jason holder and Winidies bowling out England for 204 but will be interesting to see how England reply

It must be tough since players have not played since a long time.

I feel like when Pakistan will play they will be rusty for sure and might be bowled out cheaply as well lol

he averages 11.80 in his last 10 last matches. These are extraordinary numbers. He is definitely the best bowler in the world right now and even with bat he averages 41.He should get more recognition.
 
John Campbell was the guy who tried to Dilscoop Stuart Broad with the new ball in a Test in the Caribbean last year.
