The Windies’ off-spinner Kraigg Brathwaite has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the first Test against England, which the hosts won at Edgbaston on Saturday.

The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the Windies’ team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 24-year-old’s bowling action.

Brathwaite’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Brathwaite is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

An independent assessment was performed at the Loughborough testing centre in England on 31 August.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the bowling action of Windies off-spinner Kraigg Brathwaite has been found to be legal, and the player can continue bowling in international cricket.

At the assessment, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension in all of Brathwaite’s deliveries was well within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations.

Brathwaite was reported during the first Test against England played at Edgbaston from 17 to 19 August and the independent assessment was performed at the Loughborough testing centre in England on 31 August.

West Indies player Kraigg Brathwaite has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during the second Test against India in Kingston that ended on Monday.

The Match Officials’ Report, which was handed over to the West Indies management, cited concerns about the legality of the 26-year-old’s bowling action during the course of the match.

Brathwaite, who bowls off-spin, had earlier been reported for a suspect bowling action in August 2017 but was cleared following an independent assessment.

With Brathwaite being reported again, he will be required to submit to further testing by 14 September. He is, however, permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

Details of the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions can be found here.
