What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 1st Test | Sabina Park, Kingston | Apr 21-25, 2017 | Day 3

The king batting with the heir to the throne right now. Here's to hoping they both make 100s!

West Indies are definitely Babar's favourite opposition. Playing a good knock here.

Looking at that list, Misbahs average has really dropped recently while Azhar has climbed up. Azhar will end up with an average over 50. He is our best Test batsman currently

Babar has shown a different side to him today. Very gritty innings, would've liked a bit more intent, but I guess he really wanted to spend time in the middle after the Australia tour where he struggled in the Tests.

Yep sad he got out early today very unlike Azhar dismissal.

Is the mantle being passed between these 2 in front of our eyes here?

Time will tell.

Lollipop attack.

He'll feast on SL and BD as well.

Yep. I'll never rate this guy as a Test batsman until he does something against better teams. For someone who is hyped to the moon like him, his batsmanship was in front of everyone when Pakistan toured New Zealand and Australia.

WoW.
Didn't know Salim Malik played 103 Test Matches. Is it true ?

5700 odd runs in 103 matches must be some record.

Babar would learn more from an innings of batting alongside YK than a decade of batting alongside Misbah

Until Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq - and the guy at the other end - Babar Azam all reach the mark In-Shaa-Allah :misbah

Gonna be tough for Assad as he bats at number 6 and is not consistent enough. More like a 7/8K batsman. The other two definitely have a chance.

Yup that is true.

However, after YK and Misbah leave I wouldn't be surprised if Asad moves up the order

There are only a handful of Pakistani "supporters" at the ground and they were more interested in shouting "go nawaz go" both at the Younis milestone and Babar's 50.

Azhar and Babar will carry Pakistan batting line up in tests after Younis and Misbah retire.

New Zealand? Where he showed the FTB how to bat on a green track?

Sure, he debuted in the early 80s and finished in the late 90s. If he played for any other top country he'd have played much more than 103 Tests.

What's the game plan here?

Try get a lead of 150-200 or so and try see if we can trigger a West Indian collapse on the last day - specially in the last two sessions of the game?

What's the weather looking like? Any more rain and we are surely looking at a draw.

Y10K is looking for 100 no 35 here, his appetite doesn't seem to have diminished at all.

Aim to reduce the lead to a 100 by the end of the day

Score 75 runs/session and declare at lunch on Day 5 with a lead of 200

Pick up 10 West Indian wickets for 100-120 in the last two sessions of the match to go up 1-0 In-Shaa-Allah

:misbah

If we score at 4 rpo for the remaining 28 overs we will score 112 runs and be around the Windies score.

Bat till tea on day 4 at a rpo of 4.5 -5 and score 200 extra runs. Declare and let Windies bat in the last session of day 4.

Dismiss them by tea of day 5 and chase a tiny total of 50-60.

Easy peasy

He had a technical problem when playing on the leg-side and Hazlewood exposed it badly.

He'll get better with experience.

Coming from a Misbah fan who averages in the 20s in SL,Aus,SA and Eng..

Lol stop dreaming

Lol Misbah looks very eager to take on this mighty bowling attack.

So Younis played real slow to get to his landmark to assure his 10k runs and not he has gone from a 20-25sr to 44sr.

The way pakistan really pace their test innings shows no intent to win or bat the opposition out the game. With 1 day washed out they really don't have a chance to play so slow but what can you expect from a team still living in the dark ages...

Draw looks imminent if they carry on this tempo.

New Zealand where he played the best knock by any batsman from both sides in difficult conditions?
