What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Providence | April 9, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

Lovely to see Hafeez get beaten.

Well done Bishoo keep it up

I'm sure Waqar will be telling us all about all the improvements Pakistan team needs to make as if he was innocently sitting and drinking lassi for 4 out of the last 6 years and never had the chance to make any changes.

This is 280 pitch at max, shadab alone can win it for pak here.

The batting of Pakistan is no indication of what the par score is. As a general rule, add 100 runs to whatever score Pakistan gets after playing well, and 200 when they fail.

I'll take a left hander as opener. Both openers gone today touching leg side wides, and these things will keep happening as long as there is no diversity is batting order. Not sure about Babar to open, but never Kam/Babar. I'll pick Babar/Haris or Babar/Talat at opener or replace Babar with Kam - but never 2 right handers. More or less, PAK is the weakest batting line up among top 9 teams against out-swing/Leg cutter and that's fed hopelessly by picking 1-4 right handed batsmen. It's so easy to bowl with 6-3 field & constantly keeping it at same channel. A better batting intelligent team would have put 2 lefties in top 4 to counter that away going threat. You don't expect that from Basit Ali standard ..........

Eng top 3 composes of RHB and they are doing very well

No. 4 is generally interchangeable between Morgan and Butler

Hafeez's leaving the ball is validated. He leaves three to get one wide eventually. Smart cricketer.

What's par score on this ground? Or is this a new laid pitch?

Before the new pitch it was 220. Guyana has historically been a terribly slow, low pitch - even Australia and South Africa were struggling here in last year's tri-series.

However this new pitch looks a belter. Still a bit slow as the ground is below sea level, but easier to time your shots and not as spin-friendly.

The curator said it looked a 250 pitch before the first match (they hadn't any chance to test how it plays before this series) - but it looks better than that to me.

wait for hafiz marathon innings he will block first 60 deliveries...

He might be aggressive today - he is street smart. He knows why he is dropped down to No. 4 despite scoring 88 of 92.

Sarfraz should be batting at #4 or kick him out of the team

its not like they wouldn't have told him. i'm sure they told him why.

Yeah, I see it. Good value for shots type pitch. Largely true bounce

Hafeez is looking awful today. The PSL showed he was only on the decline and here is still playing.

Suprised he didn't get a test call up. Thankfully he didn't .

ENG top 3 are a little bit better in handling balls that leaves them. Besides, their top 2 bats at 100+ SR & their No. 3 plays away swing better than most left handers in contemporary world.

dont even say that, someone will read it and send to pcb and as soon as misbah retires in he comes!

These Windies are playing the long game again. No pressure on Hafeez and letting him suck out the life of the innings so that they can go ahead and chase an easy target.

Quite a cunning bunch these lads :afridi

You don't talk about the strengths and weaknesses of every player live on camera, the opposition can pick it up esaily.. there are ethics to what should be said on tv, and what can't be revealed... the guy knows everything but he won't say it live on tv... commentary is generic you don't need to give alot of insight.. specially for someoen who has been a part of the dressing room

Sarfraz should have come in. At least we would be getting smiles if he was there.

Hafeez ensuring we stay not out overnight, can come and bat out tomorrow.

Steven Smith and Aussies used the same tactic in the last series.

He will - after both seniors retire, he'll come back & bat at 4. If Sarfu struggles, he'll lead PAK in Test.

So, you wouldn't mind a top 3 of rhb if the quality was available?

AND WHY ON EARTH

is Malik in the team if you have to send him after a bunch of tuk tuks have completed there quota's...Do you seriously expect a Don Bradman coming from him?

a quick single, and hafeez smiling as if that was the biggest mistake in the world

Wow did you guys see that hafeez highlight reel just now, imagine him like that in the Champions Trophy in a few months time; astaghfirullah

Hafeez ramping short delivery to third mans with the a strength of a lifetime vegetarian

If they want to trouble babar they need to get the ball shorter. He can pull, can't hook

Pakistan building up slowly and steadily, West Indies should be worried.
