Just watched Edge of Tomorrow at the cinema earlier today. 7/10, good movie but the ending was absolutely horrible.

The world is not enough 7/10

one of better bond movie was good apart from that usual C.I.D type ending plot was interesting and with that i've completed the Bond series :)

'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' (2013)

Someone please lash me 10 times!

Whereas I should be hanging my head in shame, you need to hang your whole self.

I like taking risks!

But in your case (no offense), it seems like a staple of your pastime in watching these C grade tamashas (being generous there) rather than a oneoff bad choice.

Yeah, quite right. The ones released in the recent months have all been very rubbish. I didn´t watch a single film for a period of four months in 2013, and I have missed a few good ones from that phase. I have ordered some from an online store.

IshaqZaade

While fighting for the political supremacy of their respective families, a Hindu man and a Muslim woman share a forbidden romance

Very good solid script. Parineeta looked refreshing , spontaneous.

7.5 / 10

Both the actor and actress die in climax

Agreed Bollywood is tripe.

Go in peace, Jamil.

Wow. What a powerhouse movie. If you like movies that span over one day (I'm a big fan of movies like this that show escalation in stakes throughout the day to end at an amazing climax) and show gang relayed conflict with religious and sectarian Shiah Sunni themes then this is for you. About Lebanese immigrants in Denmark.

Shows the impact it has on families, and how even if you want to change it is hard to escape from the trap you've built around you.

The crux of the message is the Quranic ayat that says if you kill one human unjustly it is as if you have killed the whole of humanity.

But very well delivered. Very well acted.

Elysium was great. Well worth a watch

And anything by Tarantino is exceptional. ANYTHING!!

Elysium was actually one of the biggest disappointments in my film watching escapades. Seriously could have been so so so much better. I would have loved it if they director stuck with no name actors like he did for District 9 rather than go big name actors and actresses who just assume that by them being on screen it will be an awesome film. Seemed to be putting in very little effort and it ruined it for me.

DHONI183 this is nothing watch punjabi hindi movies like Romeo Ranjha :))

Watched "Inception" again, first 2 hrs, will try to catch the last hour today.

Pure genius. Nolan at its best.

Nope haven't seen it. I like found footage horror normally. So tell me if it's worth seeing.

They made it too much documentary and interviews.

Could have easily been a better film if they actually re enacted what the people were saying happened.

A couple of pretty disturbing revelations and the final found footage was pretty well done. Very well done actually.

Overall there is an underlying sense of foreboding or discomfort while watching it that isn't there in a lot of other horror movies but something was still missing.

I have been watching movies by director and writer Zal Batmanglij, born to iranian parents, and actress/co-writer Brit Marling. I'll be honest here by saying that I am not a cinephile and I have only started seriously watching movies in the last year or so; it is therefore difficult for me to put into words the technical aspects I like about these movies.
All I can say is that these are young artists trying to forge their way through the indie cinema scene and make the movies they want to make even if they don't have the approval of established elements of the industry. Their writing has a very organic feel to it, the stories growing through the telling without necessarily having an end in mind. This is both a blessing and a curse because, while they result in a relatively balanced and realists exploration of their characters and different counter cultures, it seems that the stories get out of the hand of their writers towards their end, which is an area I hope they can improve on. However, it doesn't really bother me because what I really like about this collaboration is the visual aspect of the movies. The way they are shot makes them mesmerising, almost hypnotic. Brit Marling, in particular, has a screen presence that I have never seen in a currently active female actress before. She completely owns the screen, not unlike Joaquin Phoenix for a male counterpart. Although her roles may seem similar in these movies, she has enough versatility and subtelty for me to be very hopeful for her future. The fact that she writes her own roles and that Zal writes his films gives these pieces a very driven feeling. As all young artists, they have their flaws but, in my modest opinion, these movies give a glimpse into what could be the possible future of cinema with artists motivated to completely own their stories and explore themes following their interest. On the technical innovation point of view, there are also some very interesting quick shot montage followed by single take static cameras that add to the intransing aspect of these. It's hard to describe but it is very different from Edgar Wright or Wes Anderson application of the concept.

So, I heartily recommend ''Another Earth'', ''The Sound of My Voice'' and ''the East''.

Couldn't agree more. She makes some very good films or at least stars in some good ones. Understated films but we'll executed on a low budget.

Haven't seen the East yet. Worth it?

Tbf, it is my least favourite of the three. Without spoiling much, the ending felt like a cope-out and it is too similar in its execution to the previous ones. However, it is still one of the better movies I have watched this year so I definitely recommend. It still has all the contemplative atmosphere and great acting and directing of the previous ones, as well as very interesting themes in regards to corporatism and consumerism. So, you should definitely give it a try if you liked the others!

Holiday 6/10

Decent stuff more like an Indian version of James Bond, Sonakshi Sinha is such a bad actor thankfully her role was not too big these silver spoon actors are a real torture

'Holidays' (2014)

An excellent film! Really liked it. When Akshay Kumar gets it right in selecting the film to work in, he gets almost everything perfect. The trailer of the film is nowhere close to giving you an idea of the overall theme of the film - talking about the trailers that I had seen at least.

One thing that Bollywood needs to understand is that it´s not mandatory to get a girl and a love story in films, unless it really has something to do with the overall plot. This will allow them to shorten the length of the film, too. One thing though, there were a few good comedy scenes relating to the girl.

I will give it 90 percent marks.

There was one awful action scene in the film: the villain disclocates Akshay´s arm at the end and the latter goes on to get it back to its position all alone and then proceeds to participate in a major fight.

She is too fat , she probably suits the role of village belle only. :)

Ananya's love for each other sustain the battles? Will they manage to convince their parents and make it to their wedding?

A refreshing script , the screenplay is also good. The movie is made to appeal to Urban youngsters a lot. The movie has some emotional drops also , and good light moments as well.

7.5/10

A brutally efficient satire on consumerism masquerading as science fiction, action movie. Roddy Piper kicks butt as the badass unnamed hero. Scarily enough, the satire feels more potent today than it did 20 years ago. It consists of a nameless drifter who finds out a pair of sunglasses which reveal to him that the upper elite are aliens who are systematically brainwashing the humans with subliminal messages sent through TV, ads, magazines, etc. Carpenter handles the premise deftly not letting it go too ridiculous or stay too serious either.

The edge of tomorrow.

What a let down. Didn't care for the characters. Didn't care for the antagonists alien race. Didn't care for anything really.

Was like watching a game.

Will give it some marks for unique concept and only one good action scene but that's about it.

Mr Brooks

A psychological thriller about a man who is sometimes controlled by his murder-and-mayhem-loving alter ego

A movie about a serial killer who is addicted to killing people. Pretty decent script. The plot gets monotonous at some places , but recovers.

6.5 / 10

X-MEN days of the future past: 8.5/10

Possibly the best x-men movie ever made and if the series was to end now this would be a statisfying final chapter. You had the B Mutants which were a little underused but generally each character had its own story to tell and the platform set in previous movies meant that the pay off to each obstacle ought to be epic porportions. Certainly the most emotional x-men movie in the series you could feel the inner struggles of pretty much everyone and it was a nice touch that they never forgot some pivotal storylines in previous movies, its the little things that make a big difference in the end.

Man X-men movies just never fail to deliver all of them have been awesome and this was the 7th one its amazing and there is still so much more to do with the mutants

Watched the 3 hr long director's cut. A really interesting deconstruction of superheroes and what would happen if they exist for real. Superb performances across the movie especially by Jackie Earle Haley as tragic hero Rorschach and Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan. The villain is way more sympathetic than it seems but still you may not agree with his / her actions. Poses a lot of interesting philosophical questions and makes you think.

Sorry but Watchmen was rubbish.

It might have been good at delivering thought provoking messages but from an entertainment point of view it was absolute garbage.

I don't know. I suppose I liked the fact that NY being levelled was done in such a nonchalant way. It was just part of the story. There was no big action spectacle towards the end like a typical superhero movie for once. And the film works if you consider it a film noir with vigilante themes. But to each his/her own I guess.

watchmen was a unique movie loved it, kinda underated. Was very attached to Rorschach.

the Specialist 6/10

Pre average movie though it took me almost a week to complete it

It was a good movie during the times it came out. Went quite unnoticed actually being a sylvestor but was a decent movie for a one time watch.

'Nautanki Saala' (2013)

Hilarious:)))! I will give it nine out of 10. Ayushmann Khurrana is brilliant, even though this is the only film that I have watched featuring him.

which site did you see it on ? The one I buffered , the sound was poor quality , so did not see,.

I downloaded it. Quality was 9/10, both audio and video.

Do watch it, I was too scared to carry on watching it 1 in the morning, so left the last 30 minutes for another time when there were other humans around me !

Tower heist

When a group of hard working guys find out they've fallen victim to a wealthy business man's Ponzi scheme, they conspire to rob his high-rise residence.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008)

An Israeli Commando fakes his own death to pursuit his dream of becoming a hair dresser in NY. The movie features a lighter side of the underlying problems between the Israelis & Palestinians, and how they co-exist together in the western society.

Was in a lighter mood yesterday so perhaps coz of that may be, but I found the movie extremely funny and had a great laugh after I don't remember how long:yk2

Finally watched shawshank redemption to see what all the hype is about and why they consider this movie legendary...

10/10, easily the best 2 hours 20 minutes screen time of my life. Got emotional in some parts, one of the few movies i cried watching.

Going to watch The Green Mile today :)

stir of echoes

Pretty sure this was the worst comedy of all time. I've seen it on a lot of WOAT lists

You must have been in a really good mood.

Silver Linings Play Book - an ok movie, made tolerable by a wonderful soundtrack, e.g. "My Cherie Amour" by Stevie Wonder. I just don't get the hype surrounding Jennifer Lawrence. Yes, she is cute and easy on the eyes, but her overacting and exaggerated facial expressions make it so much harder to like her (and I really wanted to like her). The movie seemed like another Scorsese rip off only dealing with touchy feely personal psychological issues, always a favorite of the critics. I can crib more about this movie but wasn't expecting much of it anyways.

'Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke' (2010)

Overall quite an entertaining film, short in length as well, but I felt that the last half an hour took a very boring turn in it. It should have stayed as a comedy film.

Where did Om Puri keep his money? Wow, that was the funniest part of it:)))!

You never gave us your review of Faults in our Stars..... (or whatever its called)

Yet to watch it. Apparently for better or for worse, tickets are hard to get with enough saps out there. Got tickets for next week. What worries me is I might end up liking the damn thing...
