I really need to see Enemy.

Jake was really good in Prisoners as well. Also in the cop movie End of Watch. He can play tough guy roles as well as deeply disturbed psychologically complex characters.

Agreed. Prisoners was great. Jackman and Jake both played their parts to perfection.

Since Donnie Darko I've literally not seen a poor performance from him.

Along with Hardy he is the best actor of the current crop I reckon.

Going back to Nightcrawler, it was nice to see Riz Ahmed get a major role. He served as the moral compass of the movie and the only character one felt empathy for. He also carried the few genuinely funny moments in the overall dark and morbid mood of the movie, especially the scene where he learned about his promotion. Hope he gets more interesting roles rather than being typecast like other South Asians.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha - by bollywood's standards: 8.5/10 otherwise 7/10

Nightcrawler - 9.5/10

Only just got around to watching The imitation game. One word. Brilliant!

Will do. Pretty sure I watched the first couple of episodes and then kinda lost interest. I'll give it another go then :))

A Girl walks home alone at night

A stylish Iranian black & white vampire western. So many influences it's hard to keep up. The result is a cinematographically beautiful piece with its theme centered around solitude and longing. The vision of a burqa clad skateboarding vampire is hard to forget. Only for those who like oblique stories in unusual settings.

Agreed. I wish Riz really launches his career after this. He is a very talented actor. Ever since his amazing and chillingly realistic depiction of one of the Gitmo Bay captives in Road to Guantanemo.

If you enjoy Riz leading in movies you should watch some of his British films.

Shifty is quite good. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

That was one heck of a movie!!! Bone chilling but can fill you with hatred if you take it too seriously.

Going to watch italian job again tonight. Have watched it in parts. So want to watch it again.

After that , no country for old men.

One of the few films/documentaries I have seen that have admittedly made me cry.

Fast 7 was good , entertaining, thrilling and moving for it's montage to the late Paul Walker

The party scenes in Abu Dhabi were not the most family friendliest but there was definitely an old school feel to the emotions each of the characters displayed towards each other

The biggest dissapointment was that Dwayne Chambers wasn't seen that often on screen

7/10

Not merciless enough though it has scenes which almost get there. Some good scares intersperced in otherwise average material. The lead actor does a good job although none of the characters are remotely worth rooting for.

Overall, a decent effort though I expected it to be scarier.

No country for old men
8.5/10

What a horrifying movie! Javier bardem (had to look for the name) plays basically a pyscopath who is looking to recover the money lost in a drug deal gone wrong. All the people involved in the drug deal are killed probably in crossfire and this is when another guy comes in and takes the money from the scene. this pycopath is out to recover this money and he kills people like flies. He kills almost everybody in the movie lol.
A very Good watch.

The imitation game

8/10

Its about the british man who created a machine to decode the ciphered german messages during the world war thereby shortening the war by 2 years and saving over 14 million lives. Very good work depicting the professional as well as personal struggles of the man who paved way for research which eventually lead to the invention of computers.

What a great performance by benedict cumberbatch! I am getting lucky these days with the movies i am picking to watch :D long may it continue :yk

Gabbar is Back 7.5/10

Enjoyed a B'wood movie after a long time good story good acting Akshay did a superb job!

Age of Ultron 7/10 ,good one time watch love the way Marvel Universe is shaping up.

Three kings
7/10

Not a bad movie. They have tried to bring out the humour in an intense war situation. Its based on a true story i think.

Avengers - Age of Ultron. I quite liked it, though I preferred the first one.

Same here but i couldn't pinpoint exactly what was missing this time probably the special effects or loose script or no character development.

Watched another one this evening.

This means war
6.5/10

Good one time watch. Romantic action comedy.

Watched Chronicle (2012) last weekend. Awesome, not your average run off the mill superhero movie. Excellent build up but a slightly dissapointing end.

Will give it 8.5/10

Also watched Argo. Decent movie, not a bad way to pass the time (except for the typical muslim stereotyping), some very thrilling scenes. 7/10.

'Saving Private Ryan' (1998)

A good film, a very good film in fact. It was so action-filled that I hardly got the feel of having watched a film as long as around 165 minutes. Never gets boring.

However, there's still something about 'Fury' (2014) that remains unmatched, especially that one scene which is about a battle between tanks. I admit I could be bias here seeing that that is my personal favourite and that I am a huge fan of. So I wasn't as fascinated by this one as the other, somehow. That film kind of makes one hate wars, which is what I loved the most about it.

Coming back to this one, I will give it 7.5 out of 10.

A question, are there any other good films about the second world war? To be precise, what I am looking for is thrilling, jaw-dropping action and the feel of the atmosphere and the feel of what happened on the battlefield during it, something that this film was full of.

Look no further than Saving Private Ryan.

Must warn you though, it is very brutal at times

Saving private Ryan..Bloody brilliant.

Thanks for the recommendation, gentlemen. A good one. Thanks a lot.

The best war movie in my opinion is Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War. However, it has nothing to do with the second world war.

Devil's Knot.

Based on a true story about the murders of 3 young boys in America. Stars Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon.

Very interesting film - 7/10.

Check out Band of brothers on blu-ray as well if you haven't already. An absolute masterpiece.

The Thin Red Line is another WWII movie which doesn't get mentioned enough but conceptually is the most thought provoking and intellectually satisfying of all war movies. Apart from the constant barrage of cameos by Hollywood stars, which at times could be distracting, it has perhaps the most beautiful cinematography of all war movies I have ever seen. A movie I have seen many many times and have gotten lost in its narrative, leaving me wanting for more. An addiction of sorts.

I can´t quite guarantee that I will actually be able to watch a TV series, a 700-minute long, but thanks anyway for recommending it.

This sounds interesting as well. I may give this one a go.

'Gabbar Is Back' (2015)

A good film, a very good film, definitely, but there is nothing extraordinary about it at least. Erm,... you have to take into consideration the fact that the topic of corruption has been touched upon in so many Indian films that I felt like getting an over-dose and a remake of many films - it is a remake of a South Indian film from 2012 by the way.

Still, the best thing about the film is that it´s enjoyable and entertaining.

Seven out of 10.

Catch me if you can

A true story about Frank Abagnale Jr., who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars' worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor.

Brilliant movie. A must watch. Many hilarious scenes stuffed together. Screenplay is compact and deserves applaud.

The year is young but it might just end up as the best horror film of the year. Paranoid, scary, suspenseful and ultimately a very unique premise. Lot of nice homages to classic horror films like Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Slows down a touch in the hour mark but picks up big time towards the end.

Highly recommended. Much better than the overrated Conjuring.

Cheers bruh. Will check this one out over the weekend hopefully. Hard to find a decent horror flick these days.

I saw dracula the dark Prince last night and it was nothing short of awful. Have u seen it?

Watched Piku

Quite comfortably the best movie of the year. The film is about a relationship between an aging 70 year old father(amithabh) and his 30 yr old working daughter(Deepika). There is so much to talk about in the movie, yet everything is so subtle and real you feel like you are watching a family getting through life. Movie also makes a strong case for today's youth and their morality is more authentic than the superficial morality preached in terms in terms of tradition. And how well some of them are managing their career and family. One thing I found absolutely brilliant is some of the dialogues on women that Amithabh makes through out the movie, I am sure Amithab will resonate the idealogy to lot of older audience who have not grown up with it.

Irfan Khan brings sanity into the mad household , we probably watch the eccentrity of the family through his eyes. And there is no romantic angle between Irfan and deepika, but yet there is some relationship blossoming, evident by the way deepika asks him to stay...I guess as a normal company.

Deepika yet again proves as one of the best leading mainstream actress of the country. Great job in choosing such a non glamorous, bold role and stood toe to toe with the legend Amithabh. I believe she is one her way to becoming the biggest mainstream box office actresses after sridevi !

Big B just builts on his amazing legacy..so does irrfan...there is nothing more to say. Especially Irffan communicates with his body language so many times...as he wants to send across the message to deepika but do not want rest of family to notice..

Negative points if any, are there is no emotional highs and lows...just a normal warm movie. A movie you should watch with your family, parens and kids on a rainy evening.

Juhi chaturvedi is a brilliant brilliant talent. To make a movie out of such a delicate plot is amazing screenplay. Sircar is developing an incredibly filmography...vicky Donor, Madras cafe and now Piku

9/10 !

Nope. Dracula hasn't been scary in over two decades.

If you want crap, watch Italian. Them folks atleast have no qualms about putting copious amount of sex and violence in their flicks. :asadrauf

'Nightcrawler' (2014)

I am simply blown away by this masterpiece! Wow, a great film! A great idea, great little short story; fast-paced film which keeps one on his toes throughout the 117 minutes. Brilliant script I must say.

By the time I heard its name and read positive reviews, the film had been stopped showing in the nearby cinemas by then. So I was eagerly waiting for its DVD release.

10 out of 10!

Watched the Hobbits 3D blu-rays back-to-back-to-back :)) All I can say is WOW! Even better than what I remember when watching at the movies. Absolutely stunning.

Thanks mate , your recomendations are great

Furious 7. Colossal waste of time.

The movie is basically CSI style bad one liners (unfortunately mostly delivered by Vin Diesel), some pretty fascinating car scenes, and that's it. Ten minutes of decent scenes of cars flying do not make a two hour film worth my time. And Vin just annoyed me more than usual.

Very moving true story.

Jurassic Park. I was too young when I saw it first time on a TV. Good movie, acting is meh but a decent film.

Worthy sequel. Though, nowhere near as good as 1 & 2. I also enjoyed Part 3.

'Piku' (2015)

What a brilliant film this was! The great thing about it was how real things were in it. It never feels like a film. Whose was the best performance? Irrfan Khan´s! So natural and original facial expressions and his acting, especially each time he takes interest in Amitabh Bachchan´s health "problems":)).

The film is sweet, very sweet and funny. Both of it doesn´t even seem intended. It´s just a simple story of a family.

10 out of 10!

Jalaibee - 5/10 - Great visuals and something refreshing for Pakistani cinema. Acting is very poor though.

Avengers - 7/10 - Great action sequences and visuals, but the movie was a little confusing and hard to follow for those who did not read the comics

Watched Fury and Selma the other day. I'l give em both four chows out of five.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

The origin story of famous Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Saradindu Bandopadhyay.

In a contemporary interpretation of war torn Calcutta during the 1940's, the film follows the first adventure of Byomkesh (Sushant Singh Rajput), fresh out of college, as he pits himself against an evil genius who is out to destroy the world. It's his wits against the most villainous arch criminal the world has seen, in a world of murder, international political intrigue and seduction.

Good story . The screen play lets it down at some points though.

The ending clearly indicates that sequel is very likely.

Watched "The Truman Show" starring Jim Carey, with my class today. Pretty funny movie, quite thought-provoking of the society we live in today.

Watched Cold in July.

It's about a family man who is dragged into a criminal underworld after shooting an intruder.

Average film 5/10

Also watched Deliver us from Evil

Horror film starring Eric Bana.

This film promised a lot but failed to really get going. A few scary scenes but not that great really.

4/10

Keeping Rosy

Interesting film about a career woman who kills her housemaid after an argument and how her life unravels after that incident.

Very interesting plot. Keeps attention through out the movie. Acting is as good as the script.

Watched Mad Max Fury Road today - 7/10

Very little character buildup and a paper thin plot-line, the 2 hour adventure (a bit too long for my liking) goes off-road with tons of vehicle carnage. There are enough story details, as needed, but ultimately, it's all there to setup the next incident on "fury road." The violence is erratic, over the top, and highly entertaining. A good combination of CG, as well as real vehicle demolishings come as advertised.

Piku though first 15-20 mins were annoying but then it was good great movie acting was spot on n no nudity

The Guest

Brilliant film! Acting by Dan Stevens was absolutely superb, top notch.

First 75 percent of the film was exceptional with a fantastic build up. Last 25 percent was weaker but still quite good.

Definite recommendation!!

'The Thin Red Line' (1998)

A good film overall but has the element of getting boring and losing pace at times. 170 minutes was surely overstretched in length, even 20 minutes shorter would have made it a far better film than it was.

Still, seven out of 10.

Camp X-Ray : 8/10 : Its a pretty good movie, The movie is about a guard (kristen Stewart) that forms a bond with one of the detainee in Guantanamo bay.

Gabbar is Back : 5/10 : Akshay was decent - a typical Bollywood movie with a non typical ending though.
