Yes the 1994 one is a classic. The remake is awful.
Was looking forward to it, wont see it now
Wanted to see Midsommar this week but they took it off the screenings list because of the Lion King
DUring this weekend:
Lagaan
3 Idiots
Rang de Basanti
Fanaa
Andaz Apna APna
007 Skyfall - best bond movie from the ones I have seen so far.
Loved Javier bardem as a villain.
Beautiful cinematography as well.
Stop giving Disney your money for Lion King. No movie has angered me more than this. The corporate greed is astounding. Some people will consume anything
Why did you watch it for, am not even going to bother
So basically an Amir Khan marathon.
I’ve seen all those movies you mentioned just seen Amityville Horror as well was average. Haven’t seen The Thing or Alien. All those other movies It Follows, Get Out, Hereditary were not really scary. I’m trying to find a movie that actually scares me.
The only movies I can say that for are The 2 Conjuring movies and first 2 Insidious movies and the scariest by far in my opinion was Ring but that’s it. Have yet to come across another movie as scary as The Ring. The Amityville Horror was such a disappointment I always heard people hyping it up, upon watching the movie and documentaries it is clear that almost everything about it is done for money. Even the story isn’t that scary. Like the Batsheba story in the first conjuring is more scary than that movie. All you have to do in order to not be possessed is leave the house? Lmao.
I don’t really like reading subtitles so don’t think I’ll watch any Japanese or Spanish, etc movies.
Someone please suggest a scary movie! I’m tired of watching all these movies just to be disappointed. Maybe watching too many horrors has built a resistance. I’m going to rewatch the ring to see if I still find it scary. It’s been a minute since I seen it.
just finished PK and Ghajini
I wish i had not watched Ghajini. Soo depressed now
You my friend are desensitized and it is unlikely that you will feel the sort of rush you used to feel regardless of how scary the movies are.
Have seen descent as well? Must watch thing and alien. The production values might be dated but they are absolute classics.
To each his own but you are missing out a lot by ignoring foreign cinema. Even your favorite Ring is an adaptation of a Japanese horror movie.
Because for average joeMan Amir Khan has been in so many mediocre or downright bad movies. I find it funny when he is hailed as one of the greatest actors. Sure he’s better than the mainstream Bollywood trash and isabive average but he is nowhere near some of the greats

It’s not about being desensitized. I will actually make a long post soon on people who say “x movie did not scare me”. It’s usually not the movie that is the problem
Yes there are other factors like where when you watch etc. but desensitization (individual and collective) is a fact. What was considered extreme 30-40 years back (technological refinement aside) say a TCM or Cannibal Holocaust, is neither taboo nor very scary for the contemporary moviegoer.
Nah, Amir is a great
Problem is bollywood gives recognition to too many stupid movies, good acting performance are ignored.
If you watch Fanaa, its one of the best movies. The character, the acting, the make up even. But that movie is sooo under rated.
Than the all time legendary movie of his, Rang de Basanti. It was a great movie!!!!
Amir Khan makes great movies and he is one of the best actors. He doesnt overact.
If you watch Ghajini, it was a terrible movie, but the only reason why Ghajini got so much accliam was because of Amir's acting.
If you watch PK, in that movie, one forgets that Amir was PK. Like thats how much his character is realistic in that movie.
Taree Zameen per was a movie that actually made one cry.
A quiet place.
8/10
Wow what a bone chilling horror movie. Some of the scenes really gave me the chills. I recommend it. Its available on netflix.
You need to broaden your view. Amir Khan is only a great actor in the eyes of someone who is used to watching trash. Watch some complex Bollywood movies like The Lunchbox or Ship of Theseus and compare the stunning performances in those to Amir’s performances.
As they say, in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Amir is better than most mainstream Bollywood actors but that isn’t saying much.
Saw it in theatres and didn’t really like it tbh. It was alright. The sound design really stood out though
Watched it alone at 12 midnight yesterday. Perhaps the environment made it look better than it was. The scene where she stepped on the nail after her water broke was especially disturbing for me.
Yeah that was tense
Please recommend some good horror movies to me. Preferably newer ones (post 2015).
Hereditary is my favourite post 2015 but it’s not for everyone. Get Out and Us are both brilliant. You’re Next, Hush and Don’t Breathe and brilliant slasher types. The Wailing is a masterpiece and overall probably the best horror movie of the 2010s but you need to be fine with watching it in subtitles.

I did not watch it out of principle
Then how would you know how bad it is?
Just from trailers?
Or you are going by reviews?
Aladdin's trailer was a joke and the reviews weren't great either but the movie was super fun. Perfect masala movie.
Am I really hearing this from a guy with your profile picture
Obviously. But the idea that a complex thematically dense horror movie like hereditary or the shining doesn’t scare a person as opposed to a kids horror movie like the conjuring is not because of desensitization. I can watch any horror movie by myself in a dark basement without feeling scared. But I choose to immerse myself. It’s about having the emotional intelligence to comprehend what the movie is truly saying. I absolutely hate it when people say I did not find x movie scary. It’s not the movie, it’s them.

Thank you so much. Among the ones you mentioned i have only watched Dont breathe. I will check out the rest this weekend and get back. Thanks.
If you liked Don't Breathe, you should check out Blue Ruin and Green Room, two very tense thrillers.
So only Dangal is left now. Personally think it's the best of the lot.
Those are two good movies but I personally don’t see the correlation.

Totally agree. But you are ignoring the fact that not every one wants (or perhaps is capable of wanting) the same thing. An average moviegoer doesn't want it to be an intellectual exercise or will dissect or be able to contextualize the larger themes as you want him to. Moreover, personal experiences and traits also shape our frame of reference. What might be boring for someone who has not experienced something similar in real life (and here i am referring to horror very broadly) will be absolutely horrific for someone else. Finally, cultural nuances and context further complicate things. How many people will pause to think what is it that actually scares them? Is it the monster itself or the fact that it can kill you? And if it is the latter then is it not death the real fear?
I was just considering this from the perspective of an average moviegoer who is there for monsters and supernatural phenomenon by the way of jump scares and special effects. And the point about desensitization does hold true given the number of horror movies being churned out and the level of gore and violence and tangible horrors being ramped up at the cost of subtlety to please desensitized masses. On a collective level the ubiquity of internet and cable TV has made a lot of what was considered horrific part of our every day lives. As a result it takes a lot more to elicit suspension of disbelief from jaded audiences.
So only Dangal is left now. Personally think it's the best of the lot.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - 10/10
I watched this over a few days, yes it is long but oh my god in heaven; there are no wasted scenes in this movie, and that is emphasised further given how I watched it in parts. The narrative is beyond coherent and the cinematography still stands the test of time! the distinctive use of the long and close shot is what Leone often gets so much credit for (in the end) but how about the music score ? not just the title theme but the mournful ballads which emphasise the nature of a brutal and unforgiving American Civil War setting. Tuco aka Wallach stole the show for me as far as the individual performances are concerns, be it the comedy or his dastardly ways aha and off course the man with no name, not many will ever compare to the presence of Clint Eastwood in a spaghetti western.
I'd recommend Unforgiven too then.
And then gran torino, I think when watches in that order, gran torino makes a lot of sense.
Aamir's acting in 1947 Earth and Dhobi Ghat is very different from most of his movies. Having said that, he's obviously not as good as he is made out to be. Irfan Khan on the other hand makes it look effortless.Watch some complex Bollywood movies like The Lunchbox or Ship of Theseus and compare the stunning performances in those to Amir’s performances.
Oh, I was talking from a Western perspective. Truly a fitting tribute to all Westerns and the end to an era, the cast is simply mind boggling.
Really liked Gran Torino but personally think Million Dollar Baby was better.
I'd recommend Unforgiven too then.
I thought you would say that, just watched and loved it , almost liked every frame of it with a great climax.
I recently watched Ant-Man and the Wasp.
I think it was alright.
I am boycotting Marvel, am sick of all their garbage and nonsensical MCU era which has been so influential in spearheading garbage constantly. Besides that anyway, doesn't any one feel over-kill ? it's just too much man
Dicaprio made me laugh so hard) hardest since catch me if you can, he showed a high level of versatility here and showed us what a challenge it can be for actors generally speaking, Tarantino probably also wanted to highlight that
Yup, the movie was almost running away with Di Caprio overshadowing everyone till the climax, where Brad finally got to shine!
Tbf Dicaprio showed glimpses of such humor in Wolf of Wallstreet ..
What you want is also influenced by pop culture in general, as far as entertainment is concerned in general it has declined which is also a reflection of human civilisation which has also declined both mentally and physically, we are at a point in time where we are unable to comprehend intellectually stimulating cinematic experiences which are not limited to a specific genre. Given the nature of society right now, there is more of a craving for mediocrity as far as the casual observers are concerned hence the demand for movies which would insult the intelligence of the more thought provoking human; the jaded audiences are not entirely as a result of the internet and cable TV; it is simply due to their own lack of development unfortunately. But the success of movies such as Hereditary and TV shows such as the Haunting of Hill House (I can't praise this series enough, one of the greatest pieces of Horror in history) prove that perhaps there is still hope for our kind ?
I am currently watching Blade Runner 2049. I think it is a fantastic movie. It also got good ratings.
IT Chapter 2, it felt like the movie was going on and on forever) jesus christ it was way too long then it needed to be, that may also be due to a fair amount of filler content; overall though it was well made and a solid conclusion to the series (hopefully).
Holmes and Watson starring Will Ferrell and John C Reilly.
Really enjoyed it. A very funny film.
8/10.
