Chhichhore 7/10 , the college life was great, great one liners but the grownup part was really not well done.. could had easily been way better done..

Oldboy

?/10

What an experience. The best non-English film I’ve ever watched.

Great, great movie. There are many brilliant Korean movies- watch I Saw The Devil, The Chaser, The Man From Nowhere.

Saw it in theater one if those paisa vasool movies , good escape from reality a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously..like a typical Will ferrel one.

Really enjoy his films.

A natural in comedy roles.

JaDed did you have a good nights sleep in IT 2 then? it cured my insomnia

Lol, i liked first 3/4th of the movie by ending i was tired though..

Another movie I recommend if you haven't had a good nights rest in a while is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, till this day I can honestly say it was sweetest sleep I've ever had alhamdulilah.

Anyways, am on the brink of completing the shining novel after so long! it is bizarre the timing as Doctor Sleep movie the sequel will be released next month, the timing is scary! I very much look forward to this, King is involved in the project and Flanagan (King of Horror filmography this century) will be directing, for those unfamiliar he was head of creative for haunting of hill house

:)) i like that movie as well, most of the actual horror is genuinely by Stephen King including IT, They showed the trailer of doctor sleep looked interesting including Shining elements.

I watched The Chaser and I Saw The Devil.

Both were fantastic but Oldboy is in a league of its own.

Once upon a time in Hollywood

Was a bit underwhelmed, I guess was expecting too much from a QT film. Great performances from the leads especially DiCaprio. QT loves 70's Hollywood, its his biggest inspiration and it really looked like he was having a lot of fun re-creating the mood and atmosphere from that era down to the very details. Margot Robbie's role as Sharon Tate was too one dimensional. The scenes centered around her in the movie are the least interesting to me. Not to give out any spoilers but I really enjoyed the fictional treatment of the dreadful mass murders committed by the Charles Manson clan. The brutal and violent yet hysterically funny last bit of the movie is worth the price of admission. The movie meanders at times, and seem to be going nowhere. I guess if it was tightly edited it would have become an even better movie for me but despite that, its better than any movie so far this year. A true labor of love.

Just watched Triple Frontier.

It was alright. Lots of action. Quite predictable though.

I give it B-.

Rambo First Blood - Very decent action movie with a very interesting narrative based on real life events, depicts the POV from a Soldier on his return home, struggles with adjustments in general and dealing with public perception all surrounding confrontation with a very cruel sheriff

Relishing Stallone while I can :(

I am yet to see Creed 2 as well, sort of savouring it; the final appearance by Rocky in the franchise

Yup, also on your list should be Cobra,Cliffhanger, now all these movies i saw growing up, never revisited them wonder if they have aged well..

Whats your reasoning for giving taxi driver 7/10?

I don't really connect with the movie probably cause I'm from a different generation, the ending was kinda weird, I also found some scenes such as the ones with a very young Jodi Foster in it uncomfortable to watch but I guess it was the norm in those times.

Haider : 7/10

Wonderful adaptation of Shakespeare's hamlet with the Story set up in Kashmir.

It could have been more intense but nonetheless it is a solid movie.
Need to watch "maqbool" now from the same director which is adaptation of "Macbeth".

70s was an experimental time in movies, Taxi Driver is one of the best directed movies imo, the evolution of the character and the ending is what made it huge for me, when I saw the movie i just couldn’t believe it, was so involved in it.

You might not like Maqbool now, i loved it when it came coz i jus had finished macbeth in school, but on seeing the movie there was one scene that really put me off.

Omakara is good though probably the best of the lot its on Othello, same director.

The art of racing in the rain, beautiful movie, i went expecting nothing but returned happy, much better than the dog with purpose series.

7.5/10

Hustler -

Was okish decent one time watch, Jlo has really improved on her acting.

6.5/10

I finished watching Mission Impossible: Fallout. Fantastic movie. 10/10.

I am now watching The Highwaymen. It is based on a true story.

Had a weekend of re-watching Lock Stock and Two smoking barrels, Snatch, Rockenrolla and Layercake with my teenagers.

All four were a lot of fun however I wouldn't recommend watching them all together in two days, maybe space them out over a couple of weeks.

Finished watching The Highwaymen.

I am not going to call it a masterpiece but it was not too bad. I give it B+.

Enter the Dragon for the 100th + time, greatest combat movie of all time. - 11/10

nunchuck scene is the greatest scene too.
shaz619

Look at this lad...makes me so happy watching him, all children should be like this not fat kids on thier phones and computers.

Without a doubt, Bruce Lee was out of this world and a very unique individual; did you know he was a much bigger fan of Boxing then MMA ? he was a genuine fighting man and also use to study Ali to help with specific fight scenes, he admired the lateral movement and fluidity especially, he could have studied many fighters with tremendous footwork but he chose Ali, also emphasises how special Ali was at his weight, the things he was capable of :/

Will watch that again! Just completed my Rambo marathon, I genuinely think the critics overly gave negative reviews because they didn't agree with the narrative, e.g how citizens treat ex-soldiers, how the foreign invaders were mostly the bad guys etc Last blood is out this weekend, can't wait

That kid is unreal, maybe from a different planet :yk

Currently watching Django Unchained. It is a bit old (released in 2012) but I am liking it so far. It also got great rating.

Chhichhore 7/10 , the college life was great, great one liners but the grownup part was really not well done.. could had easily been way better done..

I watched it couple days ago. It’s a pretty decent watch. I would give 8/10. Story reflects the actual problem in our society with regards to pressure young kids take upon themselves with their careers. This movie is an eye opener for many parents who always see their kids a future grads of IIM IIT. Not all kids are meant to be..

hobbs and shaw.. absolutely trash movie felt like i was watching a salman khan movie.

luckily i didnt pay to watch it, but i did pay by wasting my time.

dont understand how people watch these types of movies.

AD Astra

This is the second time Brad Pitt has betrayed me with an overhyped bore fest (Tree of life)

The Spy (Netflix)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5952634/
Real story on life of Israeli spy sent to Syria during the 60's
the spy rose to become syria defense minister before getting caught - wow, true story
recommended !!

Another one i finished
The Family Man (Amazon prime) - Indian series
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9544034/
Manoj vajpayee is incredible juggling his family life being RAW agent
casually was scrolling amazon - watched 15 minutes and then hooked up , ended up binge watching for continous 10 hours :-)

All Indian Spy movies involve Pakistan one way or another

There's another comedy series coming on the 27th about Balochistan

Lol it's not directed towards you mate
I was giving my opinion on the shows
You can watch whatever you want I don't care

Btw I wasn't supposed to tag you directly that was a fault on my behalf

Dowton abbey 7.5/10, good british humor and as usual the same british actors, wonder if Britain even has other actors anymore, every Brit movie which i watch somehow has the same set of actors.

It is good, but there many loose corners , which could had been fixed esp the older dudes , makeup artists and many emotions were not well portrayed.

I just finished John Wick 3. It was alright.

I am waiting for John Wick 4 (expected to be released in 2021).

Man I’m so glad I have a good taste in movies. Some of the replies on this thread almost make me feel sorry for some people and what they miss out on because of their taste and perception

Its ok to have an opinion, i got surprised at an American teen disrespecting Taxi Driver but some people just have diff taste..

Taxi driver is overrated.

Besides, "good taste" is subjective.

One aspect to notice is how some are quoting Netflix and amazon originals and series. I guess this might be the future and movies in theatre might see an end soon!!!

Rambo Last Blood: It was nothing unlike previous movies in terms of the general tone so don't expect anything different in that regard but there is a fresh tale, more anguish for our troubled anti-hero and brutal violence. If you're a fan of the franchise it will be a decent popcorn flick, if you plan on watching it with a pen and paper in hand then this one probably isn't for you.

Will be watching Ad Astra either tomorrow after work or on the weekend, am excited :afridi

Other movies am looking forward to:

Joker - Origin story but here's hoping it is done justice, it will be more grittier in tone compared to the usual people see which is a good thing

Terminator Dark Fate - With Cameron back and the return of original lead cast, here's hoping the third will do the first 2 a bit of justice

Doctor Sleep - King is involved again and also Horror enthusiast Mike Flanagan , possibly my most anticipated movie of the year and especially for Horror fans; am also close to finishing The Shining novel so the timing is great for me

The Irishman - Crime movie directed by Scorsese starring a dream cast, it sells itself really; I think this will be a limited cinema release as it will be released on Netflix 4 weeks later, am interested to see what that deal is worth

The Lighthouse - Black/White Horror starring Robert Pattinson (it's a silly myth he can't act) , am intrigued by the concept and narrative; chronicles the story of two lighthouse keepers as they are faced with solitude, but start to lose their sanity and become threatened by their worst nightmares.

Next few months should be good for movie releases

Just finished Murder Mystery (2019).

It was not brilliant but also not terribly bad. I give it C+.

Ad Astra - 8/10 , I enjoyed this a great deal despite the mixed reaction in this thread so far; what I gather is this movie is either for three types of peoples, those who love the space genre, those in the field of aerospace / astro-physics and then those who are purists and can appreciate the level of detail put into movies of this ilk. I might be a bit biased as a person of science with my positive review but I love movies which are very well made to, this to me was fantastic story-telling; taking a simple concept like a relationship between a father/son and reinventing it in a way we have not seen before or in space movies; we don't expect a high level of accuracy when it comes to the science bits but there was realism which I could appreciate and moments where I was able to suspend my disbelief as well. I would definitely recommend this and it wont be a waste of your time.

Going for joker on Thursday, i have good feeling abt it but trying not to expect.

Man I’m so glad I have a good taste in movies. Some of the replies on this thread almost make me feel sorry for some people and what they miss out on because of their taste and perception

You have that great taste in movies due to trial and error, having an open mind and evolving, it's not like you were born with it. I have many movies which I thought that I watched as a kid but just cringed when I re watched them much later on but there were some movies that aged well, helped a bit with the nostalgia factor.

About the part regarding people missing out on so much I tend to agree and understand your frustration because as a cinephile I want others to experience and feel the magic that I did and the effect the Movie/Series had on me but most people watch movies/TV as a form of entertainment and escape from the day to day burdens of life and just want to switch of for an hour or two.

We are no one to judge them however as the quality of TV has been increasing, I have observed that tastes generally are also getting refined. My wife used to be the same where she would just kill an hour ot two a day to relax by watching useless stuff but then I got to making a list of movies/series that she would like best and it has really got us into discussing and wondering the various things the writers/directrors etc wanted to portray.

Another reason is availability, many of my bestr rated movies/series I had to research, read about, find but most people these days just log on to Netflix, HBO, Amazon etc or other streaming services and just watch whatever is trending or popular which usually their respective original stuff plus some other things. They should come up with a streaming service which combines them all so that people do not have to subscribe to 5 different services to get the best that is out there. For me HBO is the GOAT of all time but Netflix have really upped their game in the past few years.

All in all the best thing that one can do is to guide people through this journey, help them expand their horizons and get them to experience/enjoy so many epic cinematic/silver screen etc productions out there.

watch the family man on amazon.. manoj bajpai is a brilliant actor

stream it if you dont have prime video.. lol

Going for joker on Thursday, i have good feeling abt it but trying not to expect.

I look out for yours as well aha hopefully you enjoy the joker, I will be seeing either on Friday or Saturday; I finished The Shining novel last night, what a landmark for me; in a way am annoyed that the sequel movie is coming out as I have not read the novel and the premise for it is amazing

Many of my friends had been saying it to, I watched like the first 7 minutes of episode 1 and turned it off :))

Maybe it's the over-kill in the genre that has put me off or the goofy vibes

You reminded me of a the novel am currently reading,

It is a collaboration between two of my favourite writers Snyder and King; a graphic novel called the American Vampire, a very interesting take as it revolves around a world where Vampires are integrated into society like every other civilian except they are still in the dark and that sinister aspect is really played up. The premise imagines vampires as a population made up of many different secret species.
