Valentines Day - chick flick, watched it with Mrs. Bit of a waste of time, some mushy bs.

House broken - some funny bits here and there but overall, bit of a waste.

Ok people. I have seen 'The stoning of Soraya m'. It is indeed, too too sad.

Anyone would suggest a suspense thriller, any outstanding movie guys? :)

Sukiyaki Western Django - with Quentin Taratino - homeage to Spaghetti westerns with a chinese flavour.. not bad at all, nicely made, though not an epic by any means...

The Royal Tenenbaums - black comedy about disjointed fanily - all start cast: Gene Hackman, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Danny Glover, Bill Murray..... not sure how to rate, was ok, clever bits, but that's it I think..

Band Baaja Baraat

7.5 out of 10

most of the points go to the actor Ranveer Singh . Was amazing in that movie really .

Valentines Day - I know I'm a year late but hey it's the month of februaury so I thought why not?
It's very enjoyably but only if you're in the mood for that kind of movie :P

Watched a lot of movies this week...

Watched Battle of Algiers...incredible movie...really balanced and the last scene made me think of what is happening right at this moment...

The Conversation...very slow but a very strong film...its supposed to be about paranoia but I thought the whole division of labour, guilt angle was the best part...

Day of the Jackal...top film from start to finish...old school cat and mouse movie and mixing reality with fiction really worked well...there were apparently actual attempts to get De Gaulle assassinated post Algerian independence...

The Parallax View...top paranoia movie...really need to see the other two in the trilogy Klute and All The Presidents Men...

'Saat Khoon Maaf' 2011 (Priyanka Chopra, Konkona Sen, Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham, Irfan Khan, Anu Kapoor)

An excellent film comes out of nowhere! The script is hugely unpredictable despite the fact that one thinks so whilst watching it. Priyanka is always wonderful if given a non-positive role to act.

Whatever it deserves, it should get one mark less for the sexuality contained in it. How senselessly do they make good films into the ones watchable for adults only?!

Bottom-line (from the film) is that if one gets away with his sins/crimes, it is only because God gives you time to re-think and to turn to Him.

Repo Men - Jude Law, Forrest Whitaker..

mmm, hard to judge... bit weird, not bad..., but probably wouldn't recommend... think it got panned in general move reviews..

The Other Guys.
Too long. But has some of the funniest scenes of recent times :)))
Could have been the best comedy but some parts of the movie seemed pointless.

Funny moive though, I laughed alot :))

6/10

Also they should have never killed The Rock's and Samual L Jackson's characters. Infact the next sequel should have been all about them instead of Mark Whalberg and Will Farrel. Samual Jackson and Rock seemed like a better pair to me.
The movie kind of lost some of its momentum once they died.

Trick 'r' Treat

Effective little chiller...worth a watch. Surprised it never made it to the big screen.

just quote after quote.
don't make 'em like that anymore.

It wasn't bad, good time pass, Denzel is coolest man on earth and mannn Mila Kunis is Haaaattttt

dunno why... just looking at the pic and your sig directly underneath made me chuckle :)) (imagination can play with you in various ways ;-) )

Ip Man 2

Excellent martial arts flick.

I must say i was a little disappointed with this one.
Reminded me of a martial arts version of Rocky 4.

Others worth a watch if you haven't seen are:

True Legend
Bodyguards and Assassins
Undisputed 3
Kill Zone
Flash Point

Unknown - Really wanted to see this after seeing the trailer. Was okay but didn't live up to my expectations. 5/10

Leon - special edition

extra footage totally transforms the film, rather than just being the usual take-it-or-leave-it supplementary material.

brutal but gorgeous film.

Hmm was never aware of any special edition...is it available on DVD?

Watched quite a few this week...

Best of what I've watched...

A couple of Korean films...I Saw The Devil and A Bittersweet Life...both have outstanding action...I Saw The Devil though is just plain twisted...super movie...Min Sik Choi the guy from Oldboy is an incredible bad guy///

Three Days Of The Condor and The Insider are top conspiracy movies too...Max Von Sydow and Russell Crowe deliver some top notch performances in some really intelligent movies...

Disappointing movies...Death of a Princess bored me tbh...it was a docu drama and didnt particularly work...saying that I dont think it was as anti-Saudi as its been made out to be...

The Contender was agenda driven and very unrealistic considering it was trying to portray something real...Gary Oldman was the highlight though...

Korean films dont cease to please me :-)

I watched Limitless featuring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

It was actually a pretty nice movie.

Bradley Cooper did a solid job with his role.

I've been interested in I Saw The Devil as it has terrific reviews but i heard it borders on nudity/pornography so i've given it a miss.

A Bittersweet Life is pure class - as expected it was plagiarised by Bollywood.

korean films, in particular the crime, action thriller genre have been in a league of their own over the last decade.

'Tanu Weds Manu' 2011 (Kangna Ranaut, Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Kishan)

Was good and humorous in parts but a below average film overall:boom:. Only the second film that I have during the Cricket World Cup.

Watched Quantum of Solace the other day. I loved Casino Royale but I heard this was quite disappointing. However, it was really enjoyable.

127 Hours.

Good movie, could never imagine breaking and then hacking my own arm off though. Maybe after severe delusions involving Harsha Bhogle whispering into my ear for hours though.

The Fighter - v.good. Can see why C Bale one his accolades... really immerses himself into characters bigtime.
Though had heard the boxing was very real, thought some of it was a bit ovwer the top.. a bit Rocky-ish… though the camera-ing and angles I thought were really realistic… mimicked the real live fights really well.

Everything's fine – Robert DeNero, Drew Barrymore – a little bit of a sad (as in emotionally), reflective movie, as it explores an aging father (who lost his wife recently) who’s children are all grown and live away, and in today’s fast paced life, are too busy to give time to their pops, who just longs to spend time with them, in the latter stages of his life…

Ip Man 2

Excellent martial arts flick.

Oh my days! Is that out?
I remember stumbling across the 1st one when in Dubai, checking out the platinum seats in the Dubai Mall cinema (electric leather reclines, on demand butler service - am sure you all know who have been :D ). And it was the only decent thing that looked worth watching..

and what a film!! some serious action and moves son! it was almost game changing like B. Lee 70s, J Chan of the 80's, Jet Li of the 90's, Tony Jaa of the 2000's.... (maybe not that far, but some sick moves nonetheless)..

will look out for it!

:))

That "radio presenter" scene is one of the best I've seen in a while.

Limitlesss- crap storyline with huge plot holes the size of mars.. good job by bradley cooper though

adjustment bureau- even more crap, chick flick masquerading as futuristic sci fi.

Yaar your talking about Donnie Yen as if he's up and coming :) This guy is a legend already. In Asia and around the world he is up their with Chan/Li, just hasn't done any US movie etc...

I would also recommend Donnie Yen's Dragon Tiger Gate and Invisible Target :D

Which other Korean movies have you seen? I have seen quite a few

If you like the gangster type movies, I recommend A Dirty Carnival

Other movies- My Sassy Girl, JSA, Save the Green Planet, Memories of Murder (great police drama)

Excellent movies.

I know it is directed at Shaykh but as a big fan of Korean cinema i'd like to put forward some films which i really enjoyed:

The Chaser, Brotherhood of War, The Good The Bad and The Weird,
Fighter in he Wind, OldBoy, A tale of Two Sisters, Musa, Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, 3-Iron and recently The Man from Nowhere.

A prophet is a class film. If you want to watch a similar French film watch la Haine. It stars Vincent Cassel. The ending for the film is really good.

Downloaded "13 Assassins" after the game :( last night. It took my mind off our loss for 2 hrs :)

Very good movie!!! If you like Japanese samurai flicks, this is a must.

One of Takeshi Miikes best (I think)

going to watch "The secret in their eyes" tonight. Heard great things about it. Will post my views after watching it :)
