Is Ocean 11 and 12 worth watching?

Any good haunted films? ones that aren't too gory - not that I'm scared or anything :)

Is Zombie Island any good?

Ocean 11 and 12 are good time pass. Not bad at all.

As far as good horror movies are concerned , watch the below ones if you have not watched already.

sinister , The Conjuring , house at the end of the street ,

Worst films I have ever seen recently:-

Striking Distance
Batman and Robin
Universal Soldier: Return
On Deadly Ground
Sharknado 2 (released this week on sci-fi channel)

Why don't you read reviews before watching?

God is not Dead.

3 out of 10

I though it was a good movie but came out as total christian marketing with no real logic behind arguments.

'Kick' (2014)

Not too bad. Enjoyable in parts and the twists throughout in it kept me engaged and never got bored.

A lot better than at least what 'Dhoom 3' (2013) was.

From fans you can generally trust but those so called 'experts' they will criticise anything no matter how good the film is. The films I watch are mainly on TV on Sky on sky movies, film 4, syfy, e4, ITV, Channel 5, Sky 1 etc

I made a list on a spreadsheet of the amount of films I have seen from all genres from all years and the number of films I have seen exceeded well over 500. I am truly a film maniac. The only genre I find difficult watching are horror films especially with lots and lots of gore.

Examples of films I've seen from each genres:-

Children - Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Mulan, Snow White, Dumbo, Finding Nemo, Toy Story etc
Action - Die Hard, Sudden Death, Commando, Under Siege, Hard to Kill, The Rock, Air Force One etc
Thriller - Phone Booth, Red Eye, The Negotiator, Frozen, Flightplan, Non-Stop, Taken, Bedroom Eyes etc
Fantasy - Harry Potter, The Never Ending Story, The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz etc
Superhero - Spiderman, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, The Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic 4, Thor, Batman etc
Horror - Fright Night, Halloween, The Boogeyman, Wishmaster, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Shining, IT, 13 Ghosts etc
Sci-Fi - Back to the Future, Alien, ET, Avatar, Inception, Terminator, The Matrix, Armageddon, Independance Day etc
Comedy - Liar Liar, Happy Gilmore, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura, Bridesmaid, Big Daddy, The Mask, Dodgeball, Austin Powers etc

Then you are not a film maniac :-p

Jeez you watch syfy? Don't tell me you have sampled some of that garbage from asylum like transmorphers and 13/13/13(!!!!).

Dawn of the planet of the apes

much like first film with apes and humans reading books together and producing light

Way too much dialogue from the apes for film to resemble nuanced adaptation

Not too bad. Enjoyable in parts and the twists throughout in it kept me engaged and never got bored.

A lot better than at least what 'Dhoom 3' (2013) was.

Both are basically same kind of movie , they make money due to big stars and star power.

Scrip is usually loose.

Kick

Decent watch as compare to orher INdian movies Salman again gives a social message though Jacqueline's Urdu/Hindi was very poor

Humpty Sharma ki dulhania

As you people know I love Alia Bhatt but I didn't like the film due to overacting of Varun Dhawan

8/10

A sequel million times better than it's mediocre original. Primarily because it puts the action out on the streets converting this into a suspenseful action thriller which is infinitely scarier than a generic home invasion movie. Reminded me of the 80s action flicks that John Carpenter would make and Kurt Russell would star in. Some excellent performances particularly by the mother-daughter duo and the badass hero. A really fun time at the movies.

Sivaji The Boss

j02dL1EcmN9sG.jpg

Good kollywood film. Forget your logic and watch a magnificently crafted and entertaining Rajinikanth film. Songs of perfection from A.R Rahman

10/10 My All Time favourite bollywood film

r u for real?? The concept is so whack I actually thought the first one would be great but it was disappointing. I am hoping your review is spot on.

This is as usual " RajniKant " movie.

The second avatar of Rajni was tremendous.

'Pyar Ka Punchnama' (2011)

Vulgar in parts, a lot of swearing (which was all covered by the "beep, thankfully), but was overall a fantastically brilliant film! Was really funny at times and I really enjoyed it, even though I usually don't get fascinated by long films.

If you buy the premise, the movie is very good. The political message is delivered a bit heavyhandedly but the movie is engrossing and miles ahead of the very average original.

Still waiting on a decent copy of this.

'The Lunchbox' (2013)

What the hell:boom:?! Was is this piece of garbage rated so highly? Reminds me of 'Dhobi Ghat' (2011) which was very similar to this and had been rated very highly, too......

You having lot of free time :)

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Good popcorn fun with plenty of CGI gore. 6/10

Always, my boy, always! Managing time has and can never be an issue with me. I was just a bit distracted in year 2013 that I watched a very less number of films.

Back on track it seems:msd.

Another thing I have seen is that you see all kinds of movies irrespective of reviews :)

That's because I have been rejected by girls` parents a lot of times without them even meeting me once. I know how harsh it is to be judged by the public perception.

The Calling

Susan Sarandon is a cop trying to find and stop a serial killer, who is actually a nice person, except that he thinks he is saving his victims. No action or scary scenes, no pyscho killer, no hot lady in leather pants kicking some derrière. Just a normal tired and aged lady trying to do her job, and a calm and kind person going around killing. It is one of those movies, you can do your work while it plays in a small part of your screen. The scenes and dialogues were so mundane that it seemed you were watching normal people, not actors enacting a script. Probably that is why I kinda liked it.

Watched the movie kick. One thing i didn't understand , what was the red london bus no 10 doing in poland?

While i havent watched the movie myself, I am kind of amused that your above mentioned reference is the only thing that didnt make sense in a bollywood masala

The Taking of Pelham 123

8/10

the-taking-of-pelham-123-609-2.jpg

Fast paced and heart stopping thriller with Denzel Washington as a New York subway dispatcher who deals with a hijacked train. The gunmen on board demand 1.5 dollars but the importance is how a random dispatcher like him's personal life story intertwines with the story's climax.

The thing that lets this down is the editing. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You should watch the 1974 original with Walter Matthau in the lead. Much better than this remake.

Thanks. Might just catch it tonight.

The original has lot of dark humor and irony in it. Matthau playing the role of a sarcastic cynical cop to perfection. Plus that whole 70's thing in NYC. QT's "Reservoir Dogs" obviously owes something to this movie, which was used in the remake as well.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Not a fan of superhero/comic book movies, but still watched it today. I was firmly on the side of the "villains", who want a world of order, where privacy is sacrificed for security. And I believe in a world, where the govt knows the details of all its citizens, so that we can be protected from anti social elements. George Orwell is for those who have things to hide, not me. There was a scene where someone asks an Indian, "what would you do if Pakistan marched into Mumbai and dragged your daughters to a soccer stadium for execution". That guy gave a PC reply and refused the offer, but I was sure what would my answer be. Safety is far important than right to privacy.

Also Scarlett Johansson grew on me..she had that expression with pouted lips and poker face, which I kind of liked watching. Will try and find more movies of hers.

Watch "Match Point" and "Vicky Christina Barcelona" if you haven't already, if into Scarlett Johansen.

An introvert teen befriends his new neighbor, and together the couple begin to explore the haunted house that his family has just purchased.

'Ishaqzaade' (2012)

Another one of those films in which Bollywood has shown the girl to be a Muslim and the boy to be a Hindu......

Regardless, it wasn't a bad film, but I can't quite imagine any girl in the world forgiving and continuing the relationship with a guy who did something as bad as he did. That was too far away from reality. Also, it's not as if the guy kept the "revenge" to himself - he celebrated and even shared the pictures everywhere!

Neither did the guy at any stage deserve that the girl should have fallen in love with an "enemy", which looked very forced upon for the sake of the story and fake. I know that love doesn't require a reason, but it doesn't mean that one can end up loving a guy with an attitude like his. For what exact reason did she forgave his act of having urinated at her father's poster? Because he apologised? Don't get me started on how fake that looked and how not for once he looked to have regretted that!

Awkward moment when people start to take bollywood masala seriously

Haha:))! You will mostly see me writing detailed reviews of love stories because I take them very seriously:kohli, and hence just pointed out the flaws ("flaws" in my opinion). Don´t you yourself call me a love guru:msd?

6.5/10

A good start to the found footage horror movie about a sociology student's descent into hell while researching about a video chat site but an ending which drags and is all too predictable. I like this kind of horror though which shows how evil human beings can be and you don't really need ghosts. If only the ending were less dragged out, this would have been one of my favourites. As it stands, it's still good.

The Den.

Leathers, I like to watch horror movies with a friend when he comes over but we are running out of good films to watch. We basically don't like gore horror like TCM, Hostel, The Last House on the Left, Martyrs,... and he doesn't like pre-1995 movies. So, basically, ghost stuff in the vein of the Ring, Drag me to Hell, Blair Witch Project, PA, the Others, the Orphanage,... Do you have any recommendations?

In short PG-13 Horror. :P

Oculus, The Conjuring, Sinister, Insidious, Grave Encounters. Check some of these out. Interestingly, none are PG-13.

I regret not going for a movie night. In a casual talk I told a south korean girl that I like korean movies, and she asked why don't you come over to my apartment for a movie night? I ran cold feet and now regret missing out on some good korean movies. Glad that endymion enjoys his movie nights.

I know your a joking but it's just that we don't find gore scary, it is so distant. You can't go to the bathroom in the middle of the night when living in a 3 millions people city and think ''what if there is a punk wearing a hockey mask and a using an axe in my bathroom?''.

Seen most of those except Grave Encounters, will check out.

Have you seen French horror movies such as Switch Blade Romance, Martyrs and Ils. They have gore but are still pretty decent. There's also Rec an old Spanish Horror which is good. You might have seen them but if not definitely worth a watch.

Grave encounters 1 and 2 are pretty good. Check out VHS1 and 2. Also if you liked Ring, then Black Ghost White Ghost.
Evil Dead remake was pretty amazing, and for a slight twist on the genre go for Cabin in the Woods.

Occulus is probably one of the better Hollywood horror releases of late.

Finally watched The Strangers the other day. Was intense. Really enjoyed it.

The Purge 2 - concept was evolved very well, execution was off and so was character and cast selection. Could have been so much better.

Just watched Open Graves. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

I liked The Strangers. Accomplishing jump scares without the scare chord is mighty impressive. That scene where Steven Tyler's daughter is talking on the phone and the masked man just comes out of the darkness without any sound made me jump. It made everyone in the theatre jump too. The screaming got annoying towards the end and the characters were dumb but the movie was well made particularly when you know that the director Bryan Bertino was inexperienced and reading self-help books on filmmaking while on the set!

Also watch Funny Games - original 1997 one. Disturbing house invasion movie.

Man of Tai Chi directed by and co-starring Keanu Reeves. Pretty good action flick. Cinematography style reminded me of The Matrix, which was good but the story was a bit wishy washy. I give it a 7.5/10

It was a middle finger to folks who enjoy violent movies while being a violent movie itself. A touch hypocritical if you ask me. Lot of padding in the middle but some seriously suspenseful sequences. Was given a scene-by-scene remake by Haneke himself.
