A seriously creepy poster of the classic 1922 silent horror film. Introduced the 'vampires get destroyed by sunlight' plot element. Not so much scary as rather unnerving. Stays with you long after it's over. Drags in the middle but has a seriously amazing last 15 minutes. The vampire in this is arguably the most monstrous ever conceived. Soulless, evil, lacking any charm whatsoever. Twihards will wet their beds on seeing Orlok.

7.5/10

Nebrasca.

Easy to watch film about an elderly man who thinks he's won $1m and goes on a road trip with his family to go and collect the money.

Some funny scenes 6.5/10

How To Train Your Dragon

Absolutely fantastic!! Just saw it and I cant stop smiling. Anyone who holds the misguided view that animated films are only for kids needs to see this (I'm looking at you ChaudrySaab :mv ) Its a fantastic film on every level, story, animation, voice acting soundtrack everything. It has none of the crappy humour you'd expect to see in some animated films but its got so much heart.

Enjoyed every second of it and had a smile on my face throughout. Would definitely recommend if you have time to kill or just want to watch a film and feel good afterwards. The ending has a twist that I wont spoil but my word it was excellent and what made it even better was how unexpected it was, while at the same time it adds to why you love the dragons so damn much.

10/10.

Man I cant stop smiling :) Thank you endymion248 for the recommendation :19:

Under the Skin

Scarlett Johansson. is an alien who traps humans after seducing them. Not much suspense or intelligent dialogues in this movie. She hardly talks or shows any emotion. But does show a lot of skin, all of it. I don't know why she did this movie, but I am not complaining. Boring movie unless you wan't to watch the actress.

I had the exact same reaction when I watched it. Because of the title, I thought it would be a stupid movie for children only.

The first one is all laughs, the second one is all tears. I swear, all the children in the cinema were sobbing at the end.

Lone Survivor .. loved the realistic encounters between US army and Taliban. No fancy explosions, no dodging bullets, this felt so real to me. 7.5/10

'Singham Returns' (2014)

Nowhere near the first one (the one from 2011) and seemed to have been made just for the sake of the reputation carried by the first one. Ajay Devgan acted well but it failed to excite, be enjoyable and nowhere matched the entertainment value of the earlier one.

The inclusion of Daya of the TV series 'C.I.D' seemed very odd and strange, and Ashwini Kalsekar´s role, appearance etc. was a complete, shameless rip-off of NDTV 24x7´s journalist Burkha Dutt. It was so obvious and annoying!

I will give it five out of 10.

The 1978 Zombiecalypse movie. An undisputed classic of not just horror but the whole damn cinema. Gory, scary, funny, viciously satirical. Also has a really good but not really better remake. Makes you care about the characters. It's message of humans being the greater danger to each other than zombies is even more valid now. George A. Romero at the peak of his powers really.

9/10

I'll watch it :)

Recenty I have seen Kick (6/10), It's Entertainment (3/10) and Hercules (which surprisingly 7/10)

Maybe I just had very low expectations from Hercules thats why I am giving it a high mark but I just had to watch it due to my love for the most electrifying man in sports entertainment

'Nautanki Saala' (2013)

Hilarious:)))! I will give it nine out of 10. Ayushmann Khurrana is brilliant, even though this is the only film that I have watched featuring him.

Just finished watching this today once more, but this time around with a better print and sound quality. I enjoyed it even more. Hilarious film:)))!

I will look into your recommendations. Also, can you also suggest some good SCARY movie. I got a few from leatherface58 and wouldnt mind any of your international suggestions either.

It's been a while since I watched a genuinely scary movie and they're quite subjective too. Gore works for some people yet others it's all about the atmosphere. A few that left an impression and you may have seen most were:

Shutter
Sleep Tight
Funny games
Three... Extremes
Dabbe: Bir cin vakasi

There were some brutal French horror movies of the noughties but the standard has dropped, somewhat.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 9.5/10 Awesome film

Into the Storm - I don't know. Spent most of the time doing something else :$

American Hustle

Liked the 70s era, men with slight paunch and hairy chest, the way a man should be. and those fancy designer clothes, before men turned metrosexual. there was no violence, which was disappointing. I like con artist movies, but when it is mixed with violence. so i lost interest in the plot and instead focused on the clothes, cars, fashion and the like to see how much attention to detail was given to make it look true to its era. there was some actress who would unnecessarily show skin, even then she didn't catch my attention. and instead I wanted to see more of jennifer lawrence. she has spots all over she skin, but i have liked her since Mystique. sad that she didn't get much footage. the movie is boring and slow, no suspense or action, but if you are a fan of 70s era (the best decade of civilization) you will like this movie.

Singham Returns 3/10

Extremely surprised why Kareena accepted this role it had nothing for her as far as Ajay is concerned his in a league of his own with movies like Cash Himmatwala n now this farce!

'Waar' (2013)

A bit over-hyped given there was nothing too unusual, unique or different from an average/usual film based on terrorism. but still wasn´t a bad film.

The forces save the country from one big terror attack - a plot seen in almost every other film I am afraid. So yeah, nothing much to look forward to.

One big annoying thing for me was that the film was mainly in English. That made no sense as it should have primarily been made for the public in Pakistan, given how rarely Lollywood comes up with a good film anyway. That annoyed me.

I would give it six out of 10.

Finally got to watch WAAR! Tell you guys the honest truth, it didn't really live up to my expectations..for a Pakistani movie it was GREAT and beat my expectations! I was expecting a bit more. In saying that, this is just the beginning of our revival of the movie industry, it can only get better from here.

-Need better computer animatronics, some parts just had way too cheesy graphics.
-Personally did not like the "American" accent that was used throughout the movie, its a Pakistani movie so we should expect the movie to be mostly in Urdu, also feel that way it is closer/clearer and dearer to audience as well (considering not everyone in Pakistan understands English).

From this, now really looking forward to Khuda e Zuljalal and Operation 021 (hoping both use Urdu).

Waar Rating in terms of movies overall (meaning Hollywood and Bollywood): 6.5/10
Waar Rating in terms of it being the revival of Pakistani cinema: 8.5/10

Waar. 4/10. So bad it was funny. English dialog felt robotic with the whole array of accents represented between a group of 8-10 people including one whose accent went back and forth between English and American mid sentence. What was truly lolworthy though were the Urdu and, especially, Pushto accents which sounded even more forced. The opening scene was good as was Ali Azmat's character in general. The visual effects were embarrassing. Overall, a disappointment with the odd interesting sequence here and there.

The Expendables III
6/10

Not as horrible as the alpha male keyboard warriors think but still extremely dull in places. Mel Gibson was fantastic, Antonio Banderas was funny until his routine got tiresome, the new young folks were meh. The film had a great final action sequence but the lack of bloodshed in a film so violent felt kinda cheap. Worth a download. As it is, it's bombed rather badly.

'English Vinglish' (2012)

10 out of 10! What a fabulous, brilliant, fantastic film! Reading about the plot one might get the feeling that it will be one boring type of film, but it is far from it. What made it very enjoyable were the daily classes that they all took. Some quite funny scenes!

People out there who haven´t gone through anything such may not find it to be as good as I did, but more than anything else, I think I liked it because it had to be felt, and I was able to do so seeing how my life has been in relevance to learning languages. My story is completely different, but my passion to learn languages, English the most in particular, matched to that lady´s.

One of the very few films that I have liked featuring Sridevi. I in general find her to be a bit annoying, but she acted well in this one at least.

One question though, why in almost every other Bollywood film do they show the Pakistanis living abroad to be so tharki? We are far from it I think. Regardless of that, the Pakistani/Lahori guy was hilarious!

I'd give it a high rating for the movie as well, 9/10 Because i watched the Tamil version where Sri Devi's kids and fathers part were just dubbed and at point it looked bad. IF you ignore those, its a really good movie.

Singham Returns

Watched it at a theatre. There was no story, only moral message riding on the success of the previous movie. Singham the self obsessed cop, who praises himself with various epithets, is shown teaching students to behave. In one scene he talks against superstition and how people's faith is exploited by fake babas, and in another scene he is seen going to a dargah to pray so that a witness wakes up from coma. Gujratis are stereotyped, and marathas are glorified. The menace of fake babas is shown, but I wonder when will they show the exploitation by missionaries. Kareena kapoor still evokes the same hatred when I see her..wished someone put a bullet through her skull whenever she was on screen. A worthless actress who made a career by playing her irritating self in every role.. This movie made the prequel look much better than it was.

Donal Cozzie, let me know pls if you've watched How to train your dragon 2 and how was it?
TalhaSyed, Hercusles was not that good for me. I watched it in a cinema but it was way too much censored here for don't know what reason and many scenes didn't make much sense to me. I was expecting Hercules to be fighting against some kind of monsters or fictional characters and not to avenge his personal losses. I'd rate it 5/10 :mv

Haha I liked Hercules because it was different from other Hercules movies but I can see why it would suck if it was censored :yk2

Lol at Kareena Kapoor comments. Couldn't agree more.

Even my mother liked it :)

Hate Story 2
Overall ok movie better than sunghan 2 n entertaimment Mandar matre did a good job 6/10

Deliver us from Evil 6/10, it was fine. Nothing special and i suppose you can't go wrong with the old possession formula. Not something i had not seen before but i liked how the plot revolved around the inner demons of a cop.

Sin City 8/10, fantastic. Possibly one of the best neo noir movies ever, loved their unique take visually on how they kept color only for selected objects/people it really emphasized the mood in the atmosphere whilst the movie remained in black/white throughout. I loved the short-story structure given it was something i have not seen before. It worked because they were able to stick to the core elements of the plot in the comics while entrancing viewers graphically with beautiful violence. Was immediately attached to the characters leaving me wanting more though after each story had ended.

Have not watched Sin City 2 yet, have been really looking forward to it hope its good. Don't know why it has been such a flop at the box office though, the first one made $29 mill in its first weekend. Must be the big gap between the first and second.

these are the movies i watched in last 2 weeks

the illusionist 6/10

fight club 9/10 had seen it before as well

rum diary 7/10 only liked it due to depp otherwise a bit boring

the goon 7.5/10 good movie

public enemies 8/10 again a good movie. great performances as usual from depp and bale

the fighter 7/10 decent ok'ish movie. amazing performance by bale. decent by mark wahlberg.

les miserables 6/10 too much artistic and poetic crap never works for me . although some people praise it a lot.

from bollywood :
Humpty sharma ki dulhaniya 6/10 worth a one time watch. liked mai tera hero more than this one.

kick 6.5/10
average movie. nawazudin is a class act though . what an amazing performance acting wise by him. hooda is talented as well. salman is his usual self

planning to watch body of lies tomorrow . can somebody tell me if its worth watching?

Brilliant concept.

Even my mother liked it :)

I think it was in general a film which I expect to be liked by quite a number of women from our culture. It has that touch to win appreciations from them.

'Jal' (2014)

Wow! I am blown away by this masterpiece! What a film! I felt as if I was reading a novel.

It's sad that (Bollywood) films that don't feature any big stars and hence are of low budget are hardly given any publicity.

Watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with my little cousin, he thought it was the best movie ever. I thought it was just a childish good guys trying to save the world thing. 5/10

I'm apprehensive about the Babadook. It has overwhelmingly positive critical reception. Generally, I get disappointed when this happens. The Conjuring was praised like crazy but was not nearly as chilling as I thought though I felt it was a well-made movie.

October will be nirvana for me. VHS : Viral, ABCs of Death 2, Annabelle, return of Supernatural and the walking dead. Can't wait.

deliria_boxcover_stor.jpg

8/10

A stunningly good slasher film made by the criminally underrated Michele Soavi (Dario Argento's protégé). Begins a bit too slow but picks up big time and has gory but really suspenseful kills. Some unlikable characters limit the movie's effectiveness but strong direction helps overcome the flaws. The owl mask proves to be a creepy device rather than campy as it could have been.

Anyone recommend any great/amazing thrillers? Preferably from 1990 onwards.

Lethal Weapon 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Overall the entire franchise was very good. 3rd one seems to be the weakest of the the lot. Reminds me of the Rush Hour franchise Lethal Weapon does.

Starred Up

A relatively new film that I'd never even heard of but has decent reviews. An 18 year old who has serious behavioural issues enters adult prison. His father has also been there for the past 20 years or so. Film gives a good insight into prison life and at about 100 mins is perfect if you just want to watch something at short notice. More of a story of the prison system and the characters rather than a thriller or action film. Thick accents hard to understand at times. Zero music I can recall in the film too. Makes you wonder if prisons do enough to rehabilitate certain people.

All in all, well worth a watch and there are some excellent acting performances to see.

7/10
