Jerry Mcguire. Finally got around to watching this from start to finish. Always thought it was going to be over-rated, and parts of it were, but I reckon it was a decent flick. They don't make movies like this anymore for some reason.

It's one of my favorite movies.
You had me at hello :)

The Interview leaked on torrents. Shameless Imdb'ers rated it 10 through sock accounts resulting in a 9.9/10 !!!

It's come down to 9.2 and will only fall further.

Maze Runner - 7.5/10

Gone Girl - Missing wife, unimaginable twists and turns, one of my favorite movies this year. 9/10

Pk : One of the best Bollywood movies ever made. Aamir Khan was brilliant and flawless.

Franco was good in the interview. Seth was pretty forgettable.

have only watched the trailer, but she looks horrible with her lip job. who do these people try to change their looks which makes them look worse?

This is how she explained this.

For a short while now I have been using a temporary lip enhancing tool and that along with make up techniques ( I have learnt over the years) is the reason why there might be a change in the appearance of my lips. Having stated this fact let me very vehemently assure everyone that I have by no means gone ‘under the knife ‘ or done any kind of ‘plastic surgery’ or undergone any intrusive procedure . This was my decision and was done for the sake of my look in my upcoming film Bombay velvet,a period drama where I play a jazz singer in the 1960′s – 70′s . And it was taken from the referencing of that time.

was the last film you watched?

*Yesterday:*

'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' (2011)

*Today:*

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014)

God I so love these films! So then, I thought I should watch these with others at home. My father, who didn't understand all the details due to the difference of language, was quite impressed and liked them. It helped I would say that I was there to translate a lot of stuff for him.

My brother was so fascinated watching first one that he was pretty keen on watching both on the same day. As were my thoughts, he too liked the first one more. Both have their own flavour of course.

I am eagerly looking forward to the next one.

The Water Diviner. Had no idea what to expect. Usually don't watch these type of movies on cinemas. Was OK. Had some powerful scenes, and kept the audience engaged throughout despite a somewhat weak plot line with no real high stakes.

If you love these films, Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), then you are gonna love other films based on apes. I have the whole pack of 'Planet of the Apes'. Can't wait to watch 'Untitled Planet of the Apes Sequel (2016)'. I am gonna watch it in 3D. Big fan!

Exodus- Well made and visually stunning...however, the miracles of Moses are non-existent. The movies was in the same mould as Gladiator.

Was waiting for that moment....it never happened.

Was going to check this out only cuz of Bale but have not heard any good things about this.

Hobbitt.

I thought it was ok, dragged on a bit. Mainly violence rather than much of a storyline.

Seemed longer than what it actually was.

5/10

Having seen Das Experiment and the Wave which deal with Milgram and Stanfords obedience of authority ideas I was very interested when I heard about 'Compliance'...

Excellent film and truly disturbing...and so so infuriating once I realised that everything I saw in the movie actually happened in reality...I have never viewed such stupidity among people in my life...and the fact that the manager in question ended up receiving a 400k payout from McDonalds instead of doing jailtime really irks me...as is the knowledge that the perpetrator was cleared...

PK- One of the best, if not the best bollywood movies ever made. Aamir Khan really acted his heart out in this film, very well made, and also gives a strong message - 9.5/10.

I can't seem to think of anyone who could have played his role any better.

'Life of Pi' (2012)

Has an element of it getting a bit boring in parts but is overall still a good film.

Thanks for the links by the way:).

A review a lot similar to mine. I was disappointed mind you and am yet to get my head around all the hype.

Seen 2 films over Christmas

Harry Potter 1

Will always be an ATG film IMO, full of charm, humour and a fascinating world. It and the 2nd film are the best of the series.

9/10

Casino Royale

Best Bond and best action film I think I've seen. Love it every time I see it.

10/10

Django Unchained is on on New Years Day, cant wait to see it again!! :D

Ugly by Anurag Kashyap. Brillaint, Dark, Disturbing. Has toyed with human psyche. I'm still not over it, has disturbed me a lot. Reminded me of his first movie Paanch, which never got released, but was equally disturbing.

Has to be the best director going around. The scene in the police station is mind blowing. Has to be one of the best scenes ever. Can't wait for Bombay Velvet

PK.What a great movie with a clear cut message that we should not believe in godmen and peers as they are promoting hate between different communities

Shocking movie. Really fellt sorry for the victim. Agree about the manager receiving a payout. What's more, there were many simmiliar incidents carried out by the same suspect.

'Se7en' (1995)

An amazingly hard film to understand. Very good and enjoyable, disturbing in parts, keeps you on your toes throughout.

One thing that didn´t make much sense to me was why the villain also murdered an innocent, the detective´s wife, whereas on the other hand he claims to be killing only the wicked, wicked doers of one of the seven deadly sins.

Also, why did he let one of the seven deadly sins apply on himself, that being wrath? I mean, didn´t he claim to be directed to do all this by God Himself?

It was a pretty decent movie.

The Equalizer - Makes killing Russian Mafias look like a child's play. One movie where you actually feel for the bad guys. 6/10

What was the last film you watched ('Se7en' 1995)?

It was a pretty decent movie.

I don´t deny that one bit, and would go a step ahead in praising the film, but just that one particular thing, posted in the spoilers in my above post, failed to make much sense to me. But again, I am ready to concede that it could well have been a case of myself not quite being able to understand the depth of things.

Pride - A BBC production about gay rights depicting how society treated them in 1980s. A bunch of gay-lesbian activists embark on a journey that leads to the first Gay Pride March in London. Nicely made movie. 7.5/10

The Hundred-foot Journey - Ratatouille but the rat is Indian. Really well made and a lot of good feels.

'Ugly' (2014)

Wow, wow, wow, what a stunningly brilliant film it was! Just the constant swearing annoyed me a bit, but was overall a great film with a very, very disturbing ending.

IgnitedMind Thanks for your review in another thread which convinced me to watch this one, as otherwise I hadn´t even heard about its name.

Ugly (2013)

Watched it last night. Gripping 2 hours story good acting by lead roles but bit disappointed how the movie ended. The father whose daughter went missing was more interested in money and sex and it seemed that he didn't care in the end.

6.5/10

Nightcrawler-movie-poster.jpg

8.5/10

A brilliant movie about a guy who starts recording car crashes and other violent crimes and starts selling them to a local sleazebag news channel. It only goes downhill from there. Possibly the performance of the year from Jake Gyllenhall who deserves an Oscar nomination for playing the "protagonist". Also, a damning indictment of how far news reporting has fallen.

Creepy, unnerving, funny and ultimately, bitterly cynical, the movie will make you feel unclean.

How did you find that particular scene where the father goes to the police station to register the case? I think it was quite funny:)).

I think I understood this post:P.

Oh yes. It was funny but more importantly brilliant acting by everyone in that particular scene.

'PK' (2014)

What an amazing film! 20 out of 10 for this one! The best thing was the connection put between one scene and the next one, and so on and on......

Apart from that, Aamir Khan´s innocence and being so unaware of our planet was depicted in such a sweet manner. Fabulous!

Anurag kashyap is a genius.i think he makes lots of other films side by side, hence you dont see lots of effort.only one of the few filmmakers who makes films not just for bucks.

these days i am enjoying some parodies as my exams are going on so i need something to relax my mind.

vampires suck 6/10
shaun of the dead 6/10
dracula dead and loving it 7.5/10

The Drop.

Gandolfini the master is flawless.

Tom Hardy is my favourite actor of the current generation. He is basically amazing in every role he does. This is no exception.

PK - very good for bollywood
Linga - very disappointed by the climax and same story for last 20 years
Hobbit - disappointed again with all the boring action looked like a Video game in some scenes

If you enjoy their acting you will love this one.

Locke was pretty gripping. Basically Hardy on a phone for one and a half hours. Doesn't seem much but he has a way to keep you glued to the screen.

I Origins - Very interesting movie that takes both science and spirituality together in a very interesting twist of events. Sophie played by Astrid Frisbey was such a beautiful character that I can't help thinking bout here. Her character is the kind of girl every man would wish in his life.

PK - Extremely overrated.

It's really a great comedy till the girl gets inside the lockup with PK. The way he starts his story is interesting.

After that, starts to get boring.

Maze Runner: 8/10 Just finished watching the movie, Very engrossing and suspenseful. Can't wait for the second part.

Exodus Gods and Kings: 5/10 Saw this one last night, was struggling to finish it. very Disappointed. The movie lacked soul. Christian bale seemed so ordinary he had no chemistry with his wife nor his brothers. His transformation as a prophet wasn't convincing enough.

Gothika

A repressed female psychiatrist wakes up as a patient in the asylum where she worked with no memory of why she is there and what she has done.

A very good movie. Starts slowly , but picks up in the middle. Not many dull moments . Based on supernatural theme.

7.5 / 10

Really? Wasn't this one of the worst movies ever made?

interstellar-poster.jpg

Epic first half followed by even more epic second half. I will admit to not having understood it fully at all. But I would say it's easier to follow than Inception. Classic stuff from Nolan the great. Will have to watch it again.

PS: Watch out for a highly important cameo from a very famous actor. Did not see it coming and thankfully no one had spoiled it for me.

10/10

Nightcrawler one of the finest movie i have seen in last couple of years. Loved it!

Is there any thread already on PP about The Hobbits trilogy? I mean what kind of BS is it. I can't understand why it's rated so high and why it was one of the biggest hit on box office.

I was expecting something better from Peter Jackson but this movie is overrated at an extreme level i dont know why. It's better to pay and watch the old The Lord of the Rings once again if you got time instead of watching this BS.

Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies

First two films were average and this one is the best of the lot, although thats not too difficult. Some surprising deaths and the action itself is pretty good, but I disliked the way the relationships between a lot of characters felt totally hollow. Ended in a nice way though and I did smile at the end, but I'm very sad as had this been condensed into 2 films (as they should have been) we wouldve had 2 9/10's without a doubt, and not 2 average and 1 decent film as it turned out in the end.

7/10

I also DESPISED the Alfred character in the film. One of the dumbest and most predictable characters of all time. Why he wasnt beheaded after 10 minutes astounds me and why on Earth the Dragonslayer trusted him with a night watch position and then with the safety of his children is totally dumbfounding and stupid. He wasnt funny and was an absolute chore to watch him constantly pop up and distract me from the battle. Hated his guts.

Also disliked the fact that the "little girl in distress" cliche wa sagain used in this film. Please stop putting kids in these films, they just wreck my head and serve no purpose other than to be put in a totally false sense of danger and distract the main character from the actual action. Ruined World War Z and Jurassic Park 2 as well. STOP IT!!

Apparently Viggo was asked by the team to reprise his role as Aragorn. To which he replied 'you do realise that the stories are sixty years apart and Aragorn is not in The Hobbit'? The team didn't approach him again after the retort.

Goes to show that they were just trying to cash in here.

Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, seen them before but decided to watch them again after long time.

Brilliant well made films, very original in story telling as they are not set in chronological order so may you think a bit.

Reservoir dogs I saw after some 15 years or so but doesnt look dated at all - The torture scene is especially disturbing.

So many memorable dialogues and lines as well - Tarantino is simply a genius.

It was a good film, but marred by excessive dirty language and an overly preachy tone. Nothing can beat 3 idiots imo.

..that killer soundtrack! My only gripe is that the soundtrack at times overwhelms the dialogue...same problem in TDKR. It is too loud. Nolan however has said it is intentional.

Nonstop

Girl for Downton Abbey had the same expression on her face throughout the movie. Why is she always so thin and pale. Give her some vitamins and sunshine for god sake.

They were just trying to milk it and they are succeeded in making big money but to be honest this trilogy is garbage. One of the most overrated on IMDB

'3 Idiots' (2008)

I usually watch great films more than once, but strangely enough I had watched this one only once. Watching 'PK' (2014) I was suddenly reminded that I have this one on the list as well since months now.

A great film, wasn´t it?! Highly enjoyable! The comedy was great but the "Tohfa qubool karo" bit was extremely weird and uncomfortable!

Boman Irani was..... the mere look on his face, his facial expressions were perfect! So suited to the role of a sarru aur kharroos professor. His best performance alongside the one in 'Munna Bhai MBBS' (2003). Clearly, those two will always go down as his two best performances.

'Mud' (2012)

It was an interesting film I thought. Quite a good one.

'PK' (2014)

What an amazing film! 20 out of 10 for this one! The best thing was the connection put between one scene and the next one, and so on and on......

Apart from that, Aamir Khan´s innocence and being so unaware of our planet was depicted in such a sweet manner. Fabulous!

The difference between it and many other films (such as 'Oh´ My God' 2012) that criticise religions in one way or the other, is that they didn´t show that PK was trolling. Before he relates his whole story, one immediately at once gets the feeling as if PK is trolling around and playing with people´s emotions with all those posters, but no, the film is far from it. This made me like the film more! PK is innocent, PK is like a child, PK doesn´t do it all on purpose to troll others......

By the way, by the above, in no way am I implying that criticising religions in a straight forward manner should be a taboo. Who am I to object?

That one dialogue at the end where he chides the saint, saying that God doesn´t need protection from a person of a city of a planet that is just a tiny little part of the galaxy, and consider that there are multiple galaxies too (or something along the lines). That was a game-sealer for me! Was it a discovery for me? No, but the way he said it made me feel awestruck and made me realise what a small part of God´s scheme I am myself. A great answer!
