Jack Reacher 2. Not very good if I'm honest. Some good action scenes and fight scenes, but the story line was weird

3/10.

Captain Fantastic: Easily the best movie of the year. Perhaps the best I've seen since Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It's not a superhero or action movie, although the name would hint otherwise. Three guys at work watched it last night after I recommended it, they all want to see more like it. Unfortunately there aren't many movies like it.

What we do in the shadows (2014) . A mockumentary about four vampires sharing a flat together.
This was undoubtedly one of the most consistently funny movies i've ever seen.

Watched the somewhat recent Captain America: Civil War, and it was pretty good. Only thing I didn't really like was that the fighting where spiderman showed up was quite meaningless and just looked like a sparring match between both sides.

I felt that it needed to be fleshed out a bit more, but then again it is a movie and it won't be as in depth as a TV series 9 times out of 10.

8/10.

It was great I'd give it about an 8 as well, I enjoyed that cameo from Spider-Man; look forward to his movie in the summer of 2017

Train to Busan - 9/10 South Korean zombie movie. One of the best action and zombie movies of the year.

This entire movie will be a big oxymoron, the lead Gal Gadot aka WW is a supporter of baby killing and murder:

Due to the massive campaign by Leo and Nat Geo, I ended up watching Before the Flood yesterday. Decent watch.

arrival was amazing. one of the best science fiction films i have watched in ages.

Hacksaw Ridge. Havent seen a better war movie since Saving Private Ryan. 8.5/10. Absolutely amazing. Everyone go watch it

Some very good movies coming up. Feeling excited after a long time. Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival, Manchester by the sea, La La Land and Moonlight all getting very good initial reports.

With the down time I had with no NZ v Pak game today due to rain, watched Buried Alive.

Great movie. I was on the look out for a movie like Phone Booth, where it's just 1 epic setting where all the action takes place, and the ending was also my type. Great actor Reynolds. Sometimes you have a class of actors who cruise through on their looks alone, but you definitely need good acting skills to sell a movie like this.

I watched it a couple of years ago. Really enjoyed it. Btw the name of the movie is Buried. Not Buried Alive

Just Watched Doctor Strange....Needless to say I was hyperventilating with excitement in the theater all throughout the 100 odd minutes this movie lasted.

8/10 Solid acting as usual by Benedict.....

Watched a couple of Korean movies:

The Wailing. Unsettling horror with twists & turns. 9/10

Train To Busan. Frantic zombie movie. 8/10

Moana

Not sure why this movie is getting so much hype. Probably because the story ticks every category of social movement (feminism, spirituality, environmentalism, globalism etc.) that are currently hip with the crowds and espousing these so called universal virtues gives one a sense of cultural inclusivity and rejecting them automatically makes one a villain. Why not just focus on making a good old Disney movie. (Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King etc.)

Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) was the best thing in the movie. Such a natural talent. If anything, just watch the movie for him.

War Dogs 8/10

Its based on true events, enjoyed the story telling snd pretty good acting by Jonah hill

Anyone seen fantastic beasts,how's it?

I wasn't sure what to expect before going in..but found it absolutely brilliant I watched it in 3D at Imax .I must admit not being a Harry potter fan the film actually surprised me. It had interesting characters, dark themes, disturbing scenes, and intriguing politics and history.

Thinking of watching it again at some point . 8/10 for me.

Thanks.Planning on watching it soon but was bit skeptical as expectations are always high when it comes to HP.

Watched Sully 7/10 , Asusual Tom Hanks at his best. One of my favourite actors

War Dogs 8/10

Just Watched War Dogs myself, a gun performance By Jonah Hill and Miles Teller....

Miles Teller just keeps getting better and better with each movie. After that horrid Fantastic 4 reboot, he's gone out and worked in absolute gems. Whiplash, War Dogs and this new boxing movies (which looks good), It think it's called 'Bleed for this' or something.

Maybe he took all that criticism to heart :yk

Guys there is this Pakistani movie '8969' releasing based on I think a serial killer. Anyone went to watch or any reviews?

Army of One - 0.5/10

Nic Cage was a great actor but has disgraced himself with this film. Only watched it because much of it is set in Pakistan.

This guy has made it a life mission to especially pick the worst movie pitches ever.

There was a sketch on this too:

Really want to watch Arrival but no cinemas nearby and exams looming over my shoulders :( the wait is terrible. Cant even find a good quality version on the internet.

I loved Contact, and it looks like arrival is similar to it, thats why I'm so hyped.

Nowhere in africa

9/10
DHONI183 Give it a go mate, you might like it

ae dil hai mushkil.one of the finer bollywood movies that have come this year and typical karan johar type of storyline.7 outta 10

The Room has to be one of the most unintentionally funny films of all time - infact so much so its become a cult classic.

Tommy Wiseau's acting is a parodist's dream.

War dogs 6/10
Secret Life of pets 6/10
My Big fat greek wedding 6/10
Warcraft 5/10

Two Marathi Movies -Bollywood is trash compared to the amazing storytelling that is Marathi cinema.

Court-brilliant satire on the Indian judicial system.9/10

Killa-simple story, beautifully told-the scenes honestly look like paintings.Had no idea Konkan was so beautiful.8/10

Rogue One : A Star wars story - In IMAX 3D

Being a Star Wars fan makes me a bit biased towards it . But great effort overall . Good story . Doesn't try to piggyback on the main franchise that much .The familiar formula does remain though (Father - Child relationship, Loss of family , Funny ROBOTS) They have some interesting characters (including the now mandatory Chinese-actors-in-every-film !) but they are not that developed as the new characters in the "Force awakens" for obvious reasons (SPOILER AHEAD : THEY DONT MAKE IT !).

But still enjoyable.

They tie it up to "A NEW HOPE" well. More of an action packed war movie than an Adventure saga. Best BIT : Vader scenes were GREAT !!!

Wajha Tum Ho

The movie is a crime thriller , where someone murders for revenge and is shown on Live Television.
At interval you know who the killer is , but again there are some small twists.

Very average movie , with lot of forced skin show which does not sync with the script at all.

3 / 10

Creed.

Nowhere near as good as the Rocky films but still worth a watch for boxing fans.

6/10.

Don't Breathe - I liked the premise of three thieves targeting a wealthy blind man's home believing he'd be easy meat but encountering more than they bargained for. The acting is solid but the story has flaws.

The blind man is made out to be a cross between Daredevil and Rambo, he's way too overpowered military background or not. He seems to have good shooting aim for a man with no sight.

Despite some of the blind man's demons that are unveiled in the film, I actually found myself rooting for him as I felt zero sympathy for supposed protagonists. The attempt to make the audience feel sorry for the female character was pathetic. She wants to use the proceeds of the robbery to start a new life in California with her little sister. That makes home invasion and robbery alright then ? Get a job instead of robbing people blind (literally) !

And Alex seems to have supernatural powers of recovery despite the multiple weapons used on him.

6/10.

Whiplash - JK Simmons plays the role of Terence Fletcher, the authoritarian music instructor to an unnerving degree of conviction. Miles Teller does an excellent job as the young musical prodigy driven to the point of monomania as a result of his burning ambition for greatness and desire not to wind up like his father with unfulfilled aspirations.

Its a jazz version of Full Metal Jacket as the film rails against the "Trophy Kid" culture. However the message the film sends out is troubling as the ending seemingly endorses Fletcher's abusive methods that involves physical assault, homophobia and casual anti-semitism. That's despite we hearing earlier that one of Fletcher's former pupils was driven to suicide due to stress.

Fletcher uses the phrase "the two most harmful words in the English language is good job" to justify his teaching methods - that praise will cause complacency in the pursuit of greatness. His abuse is the only way for his students to maximise their potential and will eventually unearth a Charlie Parker or Louis Armstrong. Its utterly senseless.

The people who've become great in whatever walk of life don't simply upon hearing the words "good job" rest on their laurels - often these people are their own worst critics and are acutely aware of their own flaws. There are multiple paths to success which can be easily achieved without being driven to the sociopathic state that Andrew develops in the film and the sadism of Fletcher's "mentoring". And if Fletcher really cares about his pupil's success - then why try to sabotage him at Lincoln Centre ?

The film is totally wrong about the Charlie Parker story too. Charlie Parker never had a cymbal thrown at his head and his mentor wasn't Jo Jones, but Buster Smith who yes, was demanding, but also patient and encouraging.

Now to be fair, the film does leave it up to the viewer to decide whether the sacrifices Andrew made was worth it. The tension is built up well and is a thought provoking film. Perhaps the fact so many are debating the film's themes is a sign of its impact. However one would be foolish to use Whiplash as a guide to personal success.

8/10.

Creed.

Nowhere near as good as the Rocky films but still worth a watch for boxing fans.

6/10.

I felt it was the best boxing movie since Rocky Balboa in 2006, they went in a new direction which had a modern feel to it but retained the same feel/formula of previous installments imo

The Nice Guys (2016):
Written & Directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon 1-2, Iron Man 3 )

Crime/Dark Comedy film set in the 80's .Superb movie !
Always been a fan of Shane Black's storytelling style. The black humour is excellent , almost as good as in Kiss Kiss..
Violent movie ? Yes, but the violence is presented in uniquely realistic yet humorous ways..
Superb chemistry between leads (Russel Crowe & Ryan Gosling ).Crowe is such an effortless actor! Also the Girl playing Ryan's daughter is great.

Must watch for people who enjoy Black Humour !.... 8/10

Rogue one 8/10 terrific movie and way better then the overrated garbage which was released a year earlier (star wars: copy and paste force awakens)

A horror film called Vision starring Isla Fisher.

Some good scary scenes in it. Worth a watch for horror film fans

6/10

Going on movie marathon with missus tomorrow. Collateral Beauty and Passengers. I wanted to watch the latter and she wanted to watch the former, so we compromised and now we are watching both LOL

Hope the money spent is worth it.

Bone Tomahawk starring Kurt Russell

What a pleasant surprise. A little unknown gem. A fine Western/horror movie. Includes the most savage killing scene I have seen in a while.

7.5/10

Why though? I dont get it. Why waste your time with this rubbish. You couldve seen something good. Next time google a movie and if its getting absolutely awful reviews and is less than a 6.5 on IMDB, don't watch it.

Manchester by The Sea. Wonderful movie. Casey Affleck deserves the oscar. 8.5/10. Don't know if its in cinemas in Pakistan yet but everyone should watch this.

Dangal

Aamir khan plays a retired wrestler , who does not have a son .
He grooms his daughters in the wrestling , and goes through a lot to ultimately lead them to gold.

Brilliant Movie. Aamir Khan does it again. Lot of emotions involved in the movie.
I have no doubt Aamir has taken this beyond , shahruk now.

9 / 10

La la land was great. People are overrating it but it's still one of the best of the year. Ryan Gosling great as usual and Emma Stone gave her best performance. The ending was
pretty surprising and sad

8.3/10

Pretty Woman, it is underrated (one of the best rom coms you"ll see) but I enjoyed the chemistry between Julia and Richard both put in great performances especially Julia; narrative was solid and I quiet liked the general presentation/style.

I'd give it an 8.348/10

Saw it long back. That movie really sold RDJ to me.. The chemistry with Val Kilmer was incredible. These are the kind of scripts that you call SMART..
