watched the new ghostbusters and it was quite good. definitely not as funny as the original and the girls will never match the chemistry between ackroyd, murray and ramis but the new one wasn't as bad as what i thought it'd be.

Central Intelligence - Man what a load of rubbish  that's 1 hours and 47 mins of my life I am not getting back :( :(

Watched The Purge: Anarchy today as the sequel (The Purge: Election Year) will be out in the UK next month.

I really like the premise of the US Govt permitting all crime to be legal one night to supposedly allow society to "release their aggression" and to bring down crime rates (ironically). People barricade their homes and buy up weapons for protection. It emerges in the film that Purge night is actually a government conspiracy aided by the wealthy to eliminate the poor. Since the people aren't doing enough killing, the government unleashes death squads to carry out this bloody act of social engineering.

Purge night allows people to settle scores including the main character played by Frank Grillo who wishes to go after the drunk driver who killed his son. The other lead players are a mother and daughter who survive a close encounter with Purgers invading their home and a stranded young couple who find themselves on the unsafe streets after their car broke down in a bid to escape the Purge. They band together with Grillo to survive the night and are great protagonists who you can't help but root for. Even Grillo who does the lionshare of the killing comes across as an effective anti-hero with quiet charisma.

As much as I enjoyed the social commentary being a liberal and the underlying message about how the rich rig the system in their favour - the class warfare gets a little OTT - notably a scene where a rich country club has hired a kidnapping squad who roam the streets to capture poor citizens to be hunted to the death by the rich on Purge night (just for kicks !) in exchange for money !

The ending I found an anti-climax and illogical.
Why does Frank Grillo ultimately spare the life of the drunk driver who killed his son ?!

Nevertheless, its a solid 6 to 7/10 movie especially if you hadn't seen the original like me which many reviewers say was highly flawed. The premise is fantastic but execution errors prevents it from being a 9 or 10/10 movie. However its whetted my appetite to see the sequel on Aug 26th.

The purge movies are horribly acted, horribly written, horribly directed trash. I can understand why someone would enjoy them just as I really enjoy Hostel even though its not a "good" movie per se.

A time pass movie, nothing special.

Must say I enjoyed Central Intelligence hey you shouldn't go into a movie starring The Rock and Kevin Hart expecting too much right? IT had a very good User Rating at Cineworld and I've tended to find User Review ratings more reliable than Critics

Really? I found it quite entertaining

I had enjoyed the 1st two parts but for some reason this one didn't seem funny.

Maybe I have grown older now and back then ( when I was younger) these sort of comedies seemed funny!

I watched sultan and I liked that though.

Could someone tell me what happened? Did I miss something ?
Anyway enjoyed the running around and fighting bits

The Walk 3D was awesome. Not a fan of heights some of the scenes really had me going :))

Watched Idiocracy last night.

Its about a guy named Joe who takes part in a military experiment in time travel. He finds himself 500 years in the future in an American society where the dumbest outbreed the smartest, the country has become excessively commercialised (Gatorade has replaced drinking water), the infrastructure is in ruins thanks to people's stupidity and everyone has become so dumbed down that Joe by default is the smartest guy in the country.

He's then tasked to help ex-reality TV star turned President "Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho" to save the country. Some say its satire, some say its a documentary :D

ZNMD 10/10

I am in love with that movie

In the other thread you wrote this:

I have just watched Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara.Don't know what's the fuss about? I mean the movie is good but not excellent.I mean that film basically tells us to forget caring about your family, love, career and just live our life I mean what a stupid movie

You are in love with it and you give it 10/10 and yet you say " what's the fuss about the stupid movie"?

ok..... I don't know how I stumbled onto this but I just did........

House of Flying Daggers (2004) - It's a Chinese Film

The movie was pretty good for a production filmed in 2004, excellent cinematography but my gawd !! the fight scenes were just OTT

Trust me guys the road to world peace is just if we let the Chinese channel their inner ancestry. The way those daggers swung in the air. :)) :))

Just watched Raman raghav 2.0 extremely wonderful movie nawaz was just brilliant and Vicky kaushal was good too. Nawaz is a one good actor coming out of Bollywood for me he is the best actor. He can play any role he wants to such a perfect artist

I remember when that came out wanted to watch it cinema but mate was like it's rubbish no point, I saw the trailer and it's basically some person putting a gift outside someones doorstep repeatedly and running off :))) So I got what you want to watch then? He goes Bajranji Baijaan and I replied that's basically about some guy that gives a girl a lift to Pakistan :yk

Will be watching Gift soon as I like Pyschological thrillers

I watched this on ITV or the BBC few years back! OMG! It is beyond me that the parody has turned into reality. The movie deserves a massive 10/10 thoroughly entertaining :))) hidden gem.

Just finished watching Eye in the Sky. A really good movie giving us the all side view of modern drone warfare being waged globally it's impact and ethical decision making within military and at govt level during these operations. Ending was really sad but it tried to show us how much difficult decision making can be at times where it all comes down to numbers.

9/10

did anybody watch the nice guys? the chemistry between gosling and crowe is awesome. shane black knows how to make good buddy action/thrillers.

Flight 7500. Good thriller movie.

Bridge of Spies. Very well directed and good acting by all. Intriguing to have a glimpse of politics and tactics being played at those times.

anybody watch the new tina fey movie Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? a pretty good story about the experiences covering the war and tina fey does well in a fairly dramatic role. some of the gender inequality shown in the movie is quite brutal and u wonder why there isn't a bigger uprising among afghan women against the islamist ideals.

Brotherhood - british film based in East London about rival gangs. Good mix of action and comedy, it had me in splits with some of the scenes.

Conjuring 2, excellent movie but end wasnt good enough.

Now you see me 2, good movie.

Jason Bourne, good movie.

Decentish movie, that card scene went 6 minutes too long though - you'd have to be blind to actually not see whats going on... I think the guards were visually impaired :D

I am a sucker for Bourne films so I was going all fanbouyish on it when I was watching the movie.

Haven't seen the conjuring :(

Now You See Me 2 - Decentish, but nowhere near as good as the first. Quite a few loopholes in the plot

At max, I'd give it a 6.

David Brent: Life on the Road

The Office was brilliant so this had a lot to live up to. It was funny in parts, but a bit dull in other parts.

Worth a watch though if you were a fan of The Office

6/10

Black Mass

I think Depp was right on the money but my friend watching the movie with me did not accept him as the notorious Whitey Bulger at all. Too much make up, he is not big enough, he is over acting etc. are the comments I got which infuriated me as I loved his performance. I have always respected Depp as an actor. He is one of the few remaining method actors in Hollywood and I felt he totally embraced Whitey. Sure, its Depp, you know its Depp, but isn't that true with any well known actor playing another well known true life character. I do think that the movie's script could have been tighter but overall, great adaptation. Some moments in the movie like "Just saying..." are truly creepy, the kind of uneasiness and sense of pure terror I got after watching Javier Bardem in the opening half of No country for Old Men..."Friendo...."

Saw it ,it was amazing but still not even near Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Shane Black is a fav for me personally but he needs to direct more movies or atleast write some, has been off scene, sadly he chose predator as his next movie

Lost interest in watching slow movies which take themselves way too seriously ,prefer to watch only comedy in Hollywood nowadays. In bollywood the opposite hate comedies but the serious movies are better not sure if its with age or culture difference.

The Killing Joke - 7.5/10

The animation itself wasn't spectacular and it was a movie of two halves, the first half was an extended backstory on the relationship between Batman and Batgirl, the second half indulges in the source material. The Killing Joke story itself isn't very long so the director had to add another layer to the origin story and it has been met with criticism.

In the grand scheme of things it did little to elevate the plot but it did add to the turmoil in Bruce Wayne's mind because what Joker would do to a certain someone is magnified, I mean it was so brutal in itself that one could argue a 30 minute backstory on a relationship and pointless side villain wasn't exactly necessary.

The second half was terrific and did the source material justice.

Yes, kiss kiss bang bang is a better movie. This is pretty good too. I'm glad to see him do something different next tbh.

Kubo and the Two Strings - 9.5/10

Not the typical animated action adventure in that it had some dark and gritty elements in addition to the themes involving love, inspiration and laughter. Cinematically the animation was beautiful and the narrative was brilliant; very creative/original/intricate. Parkinson, Charlie Theron and Matthew McConaughey all gave wonderful performances, all in all it was a great experience.

I'd say it may have been the best animated movie I've seen in 2016, may have just edged Zootopia for me.

Donal Cozzie check this out, you'll like it

Snowden.

The movie is as boring and dull as the real-life story is exciting and unbelievable. What an absolute piece of drivel, horrible film-making. To turn such a relevant and gripping story on its head and reducing it to what felt like watching a Wikipedia article being acted out - Oliver Stone really screwed this one up.

Oliver Stone has been screwing up left and right all his films.

The Strangers - I seriously couldn't watch this movie at night. Such horror slasher stuff which keeps you right on the edge all the time.

Captain America Civil War - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed the movie, great narrative once again by marvel and these characters are pretty well fleshed out so the execution wasn't an issue. Was so impressed by the introductions of Black Panther and Spider-Man, really excited for their solo movies.

For me it was surprisingly better than Avengers 2,esp with authentic Spiderman(cartoon, comicbook style) and black Panther(was okish dunno y serious black actors are weird).

I haven't seen Avengers 2 yet, is it worth a watch? Definitely, this Spidey incarnation has the potential to be the best since Sam Raimi's movies; it reminded me a great deal of the animated Spidey series from the 90's although many people say that the Spectacular Spider-Man animated TV series from 2008 is the best. I loved Black Panther, also liked how he didn't have a bloody american ascent because the origins of the character are based in Africa. The director for the Panther movie will be the same guy who made Creed, Michael B Jordon will be playing the villain I think.

Spidy series from 90's is defn the best and yes avenger's 2 is worth the watch just not as good as 1 or civil war but with pretty decent villain unlike civil war.

I have not seen the movie but sad to hear that. Stone was once my favorite director. He really lost his way after "Any given Sunday".

Welcome to New York.

A film based on the French politician who was charged with assaulting a hotel maid in New York but was then cleared.

Interesting film.

5.5/10

Recommendations please.

Need something that makes one think about stuff in general, without being too depressing or action-packed.

If not that, then some really involving mystery. The kind that has you hooked throughout.

No horror or rom/coms please.

If all else fails, I'd go and re-watch Disney's Beauty and the Beast bec that movie is beautiful. And I love it.
